This is a letter that Ange's dad left at their house... obviously these are not my views on teen pregnancies, but I just needed a way to get rid of him as there's no mention of Ange's father in Holby. Please let me know your thoughts on the chapter :)
Eilidh,
I want to start out by apologising to you. It was never my intention to leave you alone with Angel, but every time I have tried to come home, the reality of the situation has hit me and I am unable to.
I would never want you or Angel to go without, so while I will continue to support you both financially, I will not be returning home for the foreseeable future unless she chooses to terminate her pregnancy. However, I accept that this is her choice and I would not want to force her into any decision.
I have not told anyone of Angel's situation, but my brother will come to collect my belongings next Saturday and he is allowing me to stay with him for as long as I wish.
I will call you, Eilidh, soon and you can, of course, contact me at any time.
Angel, I do not want to treat you like a child but I wish to try and convey to you the severity of your situation. You cannot possibly cope with a child at your age, and neither can your mother. She has only just begun to be able to have parts of her old life back after having you, though I know she would not take it back. I thought we had raised you better than to go off gallivanting with strange boys, but it seems not. I'm ashamed that you have gotten into trouble like this as, though we have not always had enough money to buy you the smartest clothes and send you to the best schools, your mother and I have done our best to give you the best upbringing possible. I also want to make it clear that I will not be providing for the child, because you need to take responsibility for your own mistakes.
Should you need anything, Eilidh, I will keep in touch and update you regularly if my address changes. I think we should discuss the financial side of this in the near future, but I will allow you to arrange a time that is more suitable for you.
I regret the situation, but I do believe this is the best course of action. I would like to make it clear that I do not agree with this in any way, and this child of yours (if you go through with it, of course) will be no grandchild of mine. As such, it can expect no physical, emotional or financial support from me, and I trust you will respect that, Angel. However, you seem to have lost most of your respect, so who knows. I only ask that you keep this to yourselves as much as possible: I would not want people to think that we have raised you to believe that this is right, because it is not, Angel. What you have done is unacceptable, and should have been discouraged, but I certainly did not think you were capable of such a thing.
I cannot express how sorry I am, Eilidh, for that you have to go through this, but you seem to have been able to put aside any aversion to this far better than I. My offer for you to join me will always stand, should it get too much for you to pretend.
Take care, Eilidh,
Jack
