Chapter 1 - Chronicle of a Legend

At the young age of four, Izuku Midoriya, a child full of wonder and inspiration, a child who dream and aspire to be a hero like All Might have learned a lesson, a lesson that he will never forget. Men are not created equal.

His story has started with an accident. Kacchan had gone off to one of his adventures with Izuku following behind like a shy puppy along with two other kids. They were playing in the woods again, but this time they went deeper, much deeper than they were allowed to go. Due to being unfamiliar to the environment, the children never notice how slippery a particular trail was until the blond boy leading the group had fallen down the stream.

With an intention to help, Izuku had rush to his friend as fast as his little legs allowed him. He extended his hand to Kacchan as soon as he reaches him, only for it to be smacked away. With an angry yell, the explosive kid leapt up and grabbed Izuku's face, smoke began to rise between his hands before a resounding sound disturbed the woods causing birds to flee from the trees.

A few days later, Izuku (now with a bandage wrapped at the right side of his face) was walking down to a street with Inko Midoriya, his mother, having just to come down from a shopping center. His mother had taken him to buy the latest edition of All Might toy, in order to cheer him from what happened in the woods.

What should have been a fun day had turned into a nightmare when they rounded a dark alley way and were suddenly surrounded by strangers. The mother and son were both frozen in fear as they were roughly grabbed by the men and brandished a gun at their faces. They were led deeper at the dark while Inko kept offering her wallet and begged the men to at least let her son go.

Izuku was in tears as the men got more violent, arguing among themselves on what to do. One of them got tired of his mother's pleading and struck down the woman. Izuku, being who he is have found his courage and fought back, throwing punches and kicks to one of their captors. The man let out a string of curses and shoves him hard and then pointed the barrel of the gun to Izuku's face, prompting Inko to jump between them and shield her son to danger.

Time had slowed down for the young boy as the sound of gunshot filled the air. Something inside of Izuku had started to burn as he watched with horrified eyes as his mother collapse before him. He shakily collected and willed himself to crawl and cradled his mother's head, life fading as she whispered his name repeatedly.

Everything is a haze as the child stared at his mother's frantic eyes, searching for him. The woman struggled to reach for his hands, apologizing and saying words of comfort to assure her son that everything will be okay. She told him her last words between a fit of bloody cough before her hold went slack and breathe her last.

No more. He chanted silently over and over. I don't want to be useless. I want to be a hero!

There was a pounding on his head as an intense feeling that he never felt before burned on his chest and begs to be unleashed. Deep inside his soul he heard a call, Do it with your Dying Will. The will that will crush mountains and burn the seas! Fight! Avenge Her!

With a scream the burning will on his very being had exploded into brilliant amber flames. At the young age of four, Izuku Midoriya had learned a lesson he will never forget. Men are not created equal and on this beautiful yet cruel world, he would rather die than not fighting back at all.

It was still early in the afternoon and the sun is still high, but through the tinted windows of the car, it gave the illusion that it is already dusk. An elderly man was seated at the back of the vehicle, holding a phone at side of his face. He had a gray white hair which was comb back, showing the hard look on his wrinkled face, he was wearing a set of traditional Japanese garments which gives him a sharper look on his already intimidating presence.

"I understand," He said firmly. His name is Takeo Nanashi, the Boss of the yakuza group known as eight precepts of death, Shie Hassaikai. He took a silent sigh as he massages his temples to stave off an incoming migraine. He scowled at the empty driver's seat as he listens to the other end for a response before adding. "Tell the Dragon we're on our way. We will meet them tonight."

He put his phone away at the end of the call before crossing his arms together under the long sleeves of his kimono. The car where he was currently sheltered was parked just at the gates of Shie Hassaikai estate, waiting for some of his men to join him in his journey to meet the Dragon.

"Dragon," Takeo grimaces as he whispers the word like a proper name. He contemplates on how dangerous the situations they were currently in. Almost all of the Japan's organized crime syndicates were constantly under surveillance of the heroes and police and a meeting between two or more yakuza was taken very seriously by the authorities especially if one of them was led by the Dragon.

You see, hundreds of years ago, even before the first manifestation of powers known as quirks. Yakuza clans or syndicates often use wealth and brutality to operate illegal activities and are at a constant fight with each other to gain and control territories in Japan's underworld. They were both feared and respected during the old days.

Among these various organizations, at one point, during the first generation of quirk users, seven families who were considered as some of the oldest and most powerful yakuza during their reign have united under a single banner, they were called as Azuma no Ryu, Dragon of east, the largest, most notorious and dangerous organization on East Asia.

They manipulated the public with a series of terrorism using the quirks at their disposal. They fueled the ongoing discrimination and feud between the civilians who don't have a quirk and those who have quirk during that time, forcing the government to respond with violence and also passing several laws for quirk regulations.

The Azuma no Ryu continued to grow in numbers. Their leader who was simple referred as Dragon had expanded their sphere of influence by forcing lesser yakuza to join them and those who opposed were crushed and wiped out. It is also said that the Dragon has the power to take away the quirks and grant them as well to those who swears fealty to him. This gave the Azuma no Ryu their untold amount of manpower and immeasurable resources and eventually they virtually conquered Japan.

Crime and vigilantism became more rampant in Japan but it is only a matter of time before it happened to the other parts of the globe. Many leaders from different nation have viewed the Dragon as a symbol of chaos and they made a mutual agreement that they can no longer ignore the growing threat and they decided to declare war to Japan in order to completely liberate the government and destroy the largest yakuza in history.

What had followed was the world war three and it was arguably the most brutal fight in human history, the Azuma no Ryu was able to established a strong foothold on their territories as they went unchallenged for several decades. They managed to repel every single onslaught from the combined military might of the world and even launch several attacks of their own.

Hundreds of millions have died during that time and it created a massive gap in generations. Many countries suffered great casualties and were forced to seclude themselves for the sake of their own survival. This effectively slowed down the any advancement on every field of technology, economy and population growth.

Both sides were stuck in a power struggle for a very long time, but eventually the Dragon was dethroned when one of the original families went rogue and instigated a coup against him, finally tipping the balance of the scales.

This family was named and known after the unique quirk that each member wields. Shinuki no Hono, flames of dying will, it is powerful flame quirk which has seven variations that can be identified by their color and do things that no normal fire quirk could do. The leader of this family defeated the Dragon with his legendary amber flame and took the title himself.

With this, the new Dragon led the original families of Azuma no Ryu back to shadows, leaving the world in complete shambles.

Due to the years spent on war effort, the world lacks the manpower needed to keep up with the crime rate, which leads them from creating and implementing the pro hero system. This gives an opportunity to an individual to be tested for a qualification of being recognized as hero. These heroes were authorized and approved by the government to use their quirks to assist enforcing the law.

Ever since the implementation of this system, the heroes and authorities were cracking down hard on yakuza and other form of criminal organization. This minimized the rates of vigilantism and casualty of civilians and with the appearance of All Might after several generations of heroes, the era of peace have finally cemented. Nowadays, the yakuza are almost extinct and considered as small time thugs who still cling on their ideals, a thing from the past.

But the possible resurgence of Azuma no Ryu could upset the era of peace and the Shie Hassaikai might have the front row.

Takeo stops his musings as the door on the other side of the car opens, revealing a young man with auburn hair and a pair of indifferent golden eyes. The man was sporting a black underdress with matching pants, he is also wearing a pair of surgical cloves and half of his face was covered with a black facemask. His name is Kai Chisaki, the lieutenant of Shie Hassaikai. He was infamous in the modern underworld for his ruthlessness and cold precision and took his moniker after his powerful quirk to dissemble and reassemble any matter to his desire, Overhaul.

"It's good to see you Kai."

"Boss," He bowed respectfully to the older man who still wears a grim expression. "I've made the preparations as you instructed. The police will leave us alone for a while."

"Good work," Takeo nodded with satisfaction. "That would make things less complicated."

The older man smiled softly before becoming serious again. "Are you aware of our current situation?"

"Yes Boss,"

"Come and join me. We have something to talk about." Chisaki nodded and obediently climbed to sit beside his boss. "They specifically asked me to bring you with me. It seems that you pique their attention."

Chisaki remained silent as he feel Takeo grew more worried behind the stoic mask that the older man has.

"We don't know what they want or their motives for requesting this meeting on short notice," the old boss raise a hand to his chin and took a pause. "But they will definitely going to do something, so be wary."

"I'll stay on guard." The overhaul user nodded before frowning. Not only shaking the authorities off their back had made this meeting complicated but the lack of their information about the yakuza that they're meeting had also thrown them off the loop. They only have a name of the current Dragon, Hisashi Midoriya, and he was a mystery. Takeo and Chisaki know that they were in for a nasty surprise since they will tread blindly on this situation.

They will meet the Dragon on his territory, without any rough idea on how powerful they currently are and the reach of their influence. Hell, if it was up to either of them, they would just ignore their invitation as meeting between yakuza is more risky than its worth but any word from a Dragon is something that should not be taken lightly.

Chisaki unconsciously flex his hands before rubbing them, an action that Takeo didn't miss. His lieutenant only does this if he was truly agitated. "I won't let you down boss."

"I know you won't."

Soon after, a man draped in white raincoat with a face mask joins them and hops on driver's seat. Chronostatis started the vehicle when he received the signal of the boss with a quick look on the rear view mirror. Other members of the Shie Hassaikai, their most loyal group dubbed as the eight expendables were led by one of their officer known as Mimic have entered another car a few spaces away.

They started to drive through the bustling streets of Tokyo and follow every traffic law. No one said a word as they headed towards their destination. It was an uneventful trip especially since they don't have to worry of being tracked by authorities because of the preparations that Overhaul made. It took him to spend a considerable amount of time and money, to anonymously tip the police after the criminals they hired to do some random dirty work.

Eventually they arrived to their destination. The cars turn to an alley and came to stop at a short distance from the street. Soon the members of Shie Hassaikai found themselves standing in the garden of the estate not unlike to their headquaters. They look around and see several people in kimono, doing mundane things like tending to the flowers or the small pond where some kids play at.

Takeo led his group with Chisaki at his side and the eight expendables trail slightly behind them. They walk in a relatively slower pace passing the servants who paid them no mind as they approach the main building while taking note of the place for possible routes and exits.

"Oh hello there," Chisaki turn to his left and greeted by a sight of a timid kid approaching them. The boy looked no older than fourteen and has mop of dark green hair which matches his big round eyes, he also have a set of freckles on his cheeks and a jagged burn mark just above the corner of his right brow. He was wearing a loose white shirt, baggy pants and red shoes that looks too big for him.

"W-who are you people?" the boy address Takeo before fidgeting at the hem of his shirt.

The old man smiled gently before slightly bending over to be on the boy's eye level. "My name is Takeo Nanashi and this one is Kai Chisaki." He said with a gesture to Chisaki. "We were looking for Hisashi Midoriya."

"Oh," the boy straightens as recognition flashes on his round face. "Dad said that he was expecting you, he is just making sure that the dojo is ready."

'Dad? dojo?'

Before they could question the boy, they felt a chill crawling on their spine. Chisaki freezes as he felt light strokes that prickles at the right side of his face. It was a white silky white hair that sways at the direction of the wind.

"Man, you guys are sloppy. I'm surprise that you survive this long with that level of awareness." a very smug female voice intoned.

With a blink of an eye, Chisaki remove his gloves and tried to grab at the direction of their offender, only to have the air knocked out of him as the female delivered a swift kick to his chest. The overhaul user uses the momentum to roll and gain distance before taking a stance, ignoring the sharp pain on his chest. The eight expendables jumped to action to guard their masters and brandished their quirks.

"Are you ok Kai?" Takeo grimace toward Chisaki, who nodded lightly while glaring at the person who manages to get close without any of them noticing. It was a dark skinned woman with a muscular and athletic build wearing a gray skin tight bodysuit with a yellow crescent moon designed over her bust. She had a long white hair and a pair of long white rabbit ears. Her red eyes seem to glow under the dimming sunset light as she flash them an arrogant smirk.

"Wanna say something gangsta boy." She was the current top-eight hero. The rabbit hero, Miruko, the only female on Japan's top ten hero ranking.

"I'm just surprise to see a hero of your stature here of all place." Chisaki spat. 'I didn't feel her presence until she's right beside me. She's dangerous.'

"Ho," Miruko grinned savagely. "I lived here, got a problem with that?"

"Kai," Takeo called him, a silent message passed between their glance. 'Don't get riled up, they were probing for weakness.'

Chisaki nodded before leering back to the hero. There's no reason for either yakuza to kill each other, not yet at least.

Takeo eyed the green haired boy he was talking earlier as the greenette seems to be shaking from excitement as he scans each member of expendables. They still have their quirks out ready for battle. 'This boy, no one else noticed but he reacted first before anyone else.' Takeo noted, he did witness how the boy jumped back with before Miruko revealed herself.

"Rumi that's enough," A deep guttural voice hummed. Form the shadows a towering figure step out, causing every members of Shie Hassaikai to went pale and widen their eyes in fright. Standing before them was a very tall man, about nine feet in height, wearing a very tight kimono over his large muscular frame. What scare them was his head, it was a large angular in shape and covered in red scales with two great horns sitting at the top of his head, he has a pair of long pointed ears, a few dozens of sharp ivory teeth which was protruding on all sides of his mouth and his eyes, he had a blood red eyes which glow eerily.

"How many times did I tell you not to mess with our visitors?" The humanoid dragon sigh, causing some smoke to puff out on his large beak like nostrils. "Please forgive my subordinate, she likes putting up some show."

He was met with silence as everyone hold their breath in fear, one of the expendables trembles violently before waving both of his hands in a wide motion and a translucent yellow barrier materialized around them. Miruko let out a bark of laughter as she clutches her stomach. "I think you broke them Hisashi."

"Dad," The boy rush to the giant lizard and receive some soft pats from it.

'That's his father?!' Everyone thought completely at loss. Takeo did his best to regain his composure and briefly commanded the expendable to release the barrier and approached the dragon. Now is not the time to show weakness in face of potential threat.

"Ah, you must be Mr. Nanashi," there was a small flickers of small crimson fire as the giant lizard greeted him. "My name is Hisashi Midoriya, the current boss of Shinukino Hono and this is my son Izuku." Hisashi gestured to the greenette who gave Takeo a shaky bow then pointed a sharp talon to Miruko. "And that's Rumi. She's my right hand man."

"It's a pleasure to finally meet you Mr. Midoriya," Takeo took the hand that the dragon offered to him. He noted the barely controlled strength as he shook it. "I must say, we didn't expect to meet a literal dragon when we received your invitation."

"Haha, we'll get along." Hisashi let out a deep rough sound that resembles a laugh that would make a lesser man to cower in fear. "Let's get inside and have some tea while Rumi give tour to your subordinate, Izuku and." He took a pause to look down the group behind Takeo, a glint appeared in his red eyes in which the can be describe as cruelty. It took Takeo a great effort not to take a step back. "Chisaki, come and join us."

The father and son retreated in the shadows which leads them toward the dojo. Takeo and Chisaki hesitantly follow after giving a stern look to their subordinates. They pass the rabbit hero who now wore a sadistic smile. "You look like you got some spunk, Overhaul. You should make a decent punching."

"What did you say?!" Chisaki turn to face the hero.

"Try not to get eaten."

A few minutes of walk, they reach the dojo, an enormous building by any standard that could easily fit four small houses inside. Hisashi had proposed a spar between his son and Chisaki while he and Takeo have some tea while they discuss the reason of this meeting.

"I've heard that Kai has powerful quirk and a strong fighter, he made quite of a reputation." Hisashi stated with an excited tone. "My son will try to apply in U.A for high school so I believed that this is a good opportunity to gain some experience."

"That's a sound logic." Takeo said through a strained smile. "Kai are you up to it?"

"If its not much of trouble, Chisaki." Izuku smiled brightly. "I want to see your quirk up close."

'Tch,' Kai kept a blank face but he and his boss know that he is currently seething inside. 'What the hell is their game?'

Without any good excuse to refuse Overhaul agreed. "Very well,"

"Let's do our best then."

"A good answer, now before we begin." The Midoriya patriarch smile savagely, he reaches inside his kimono and pulled out a green revolver. Before anyone could react the Dragon pointed the barrel and shot his son right between the eyes.

The two of Shie Hassaikai were both shocked, not only to the sudden action but the younger Midoriya remains standing instead of dropping dead. His dark green eyes were now gone and are now replaced with a bright amber color, his curly green mop were now standing a little more from its roots which gives it a spikier appearance. Bright amber flames ignited around his body and surges upward to gather around his fore head.

"Is that…." Takeo said with a baited breath.

"The Sky Flame," Hisashi finished for him. "The central and most important flame of the Shinuki no Hono."

"It's…. beautiful," Chisaki said, completely captivated to the legendary flame quirk that defeated the first Dragon.

"Excellent, now both of you take positions." The Dragon smiled proudly to his son. "Quirks are allowed, you can maim each other and the match is over when I say it is or someone is unable to continue." He leaned in towards Takeo who looks uncomfortable, "Don't worry. We have our men who can heal some heavy damage."

Chisaki took his fighting stance. His opponent gave him a calculation look and completely looks different from the boy before. The timid behavior was now gone and is now replace with a neutral confidence that gives an intense pressure. Kai was confused, he feels unnaturally calm despite the dangerous situation he was currently in.

"Begin!"

Izuku shot forward with incredible speed. Kai swears that he saw a ghost of smile tugging on the boy's lips before he sends a wall made of wood and concrete. The greenette flips over with ease using the burst of flames in his hands to give him a boost. Chisaki barely manage to dodge as the young Midoriya landed with a heavy thud, leaving a dent on the wooden floor.

"Your son is very strong," Takeo narrowed his eyes as he watches his lieutenant being forced on defense as Izuku keeps on attacking.

"He worked hard for it," Hisashi let out his guttural chuckle. "Let me refill your tea."

The overhaul user was being driven to corner and made a mistake causing him to lose his balance for falling from a feint. The fiery teen used this chance to deliver a heavy punch which was coated with fire to the unguarded side of Chisaki.

"The reason I called you here is because I want to offer an alliance between our organizations." The Dragon started.

"I'm honored that the Dragon of Shinuki no Hono is making such offer," the older man took a sip "but this is too sudden."

"That understandable," the giant lizard stated. "But the situation demands it."

Takeo was silent as he patiently waited for Dragon to finish.

"All for One," Hisashi said darkly. "He's still alive."

Takeo's eyes widen as he register what he said. All for One, it was the name of the same man who became the first led the Azuma no Ryu. He felt another wave of chill on his aching back today as he processed the information. There are some rumors after all that the man never died and still lurks and bidding his time. "That's… worrisome." He stared at the overhaul user who receives a nasty kick from the fiery child which knocks Kai's facemask.

"Our family had sworn to kill that bastard and it is my duty as the boss of Shinuki no Hono to end him" Hisashi held out a hand, a small crimson fire dance erratically in his palm. "But my flame was never strong enough."

"You fought him?"

"Yes," Hisashi answered simply. Another glint appears on his eyes and his face contorted with rage before softening a little when he looks to his son. "My son will soon replace me as the leader of our family and his sky flame burns brighter and stronger."

Takeo was silent from the revelation. His eyes never left the fight between Kai and Izuku. He watch as his lieutenant pick himself up as he block another strike for the fiery child which sends the overhaul user reeling. With another burst of flames, Izuku delivers a kick on the chin.

"He'll be the greatest Dragon." Hisashi turn his body to completely face the older man. "He inherits the will of the Great Sky." He took his hands out and slaps them down on Takeo's shoulder, the Shie Hassaikai felt his body gives out under the pressure, but kept a straight face with the smiling dragon in front of him. "Join us and see how he changes the world."

The Dragon let go of the old boss as they continue watching the rest of the fight. Chisaki was limping and panting heavily, he slaps his hands to the floor intending to send a series of projectile toward Izuku. "He cannot use his quirk?" Takeo asked in astonishment. He notices that all throughout the fight, Kai was lagging a little whenever he tries to use his quirk. The old boss know that his lieutenant will never hold back especially if he was being beaten easily, the overhaul user would usually end the fight by dismantling the body whenever he got goes for close combat and he got a lot of chance on this fight.

"You're amazing Chisaki," Izuku said as he walk slowly towards overhaul. "You are a great help."

"Shut up!" Kai glared to the boy, he leap to his feet as soon as the fiery child is on his range, he rushes forward and grabs the scarred side of Izuku's face. With a scream Kai commanded his quirk to dismantle the boy.

"That won't work," the greenette stated as he wrapped a hand on Chisaki's wrist. A strange cold feeling began to spread on Overhaul whenever the fiery child lands an attack. "I've seal your quirk." Izuku deliver an elbow on Chisaki's abdomen, sending the larger man to his knees.

"That's enough," Izuku glanced toward his father who conveyed his thoughts with a proud glint on his eyes. You have done well my boy.
