Author's Note:

Thanks to GokaiSilver3511, TheStrangerThatCameFromNoWhere, Morgan Junior, and Guest Dyna-Man 21 for showing me how to find the RvB season 12 journals. They're on TaylorGaming's YT channel. One of them also suggested watching a reaction youtubers video to watch the clips without being a sponsor. Ironically, I think reaction Youtubers are fucking dumb, most if not all over react to everything like it's the craziest thing they've ever seen. I'm a hypocrite but eh whatever. So many of you knew where to find the journals off of RT's website. Hell yeah we support content piracy

Thanks to Guest Halo for a bunch of great ideas.

Chapter 19- Lost But Not Forgotten

"Lost But Not Forgotten" appeared on screen with the theme.

"Does that apply to Doc? Or just Wash, Donut, Freckles, and Sarge?" Jaune asked.

"Doc is lost and forgotten." Ruby giggled.

"Not by us at least. I like Doc." Ren stated.

Medic: "(off screen) He's waking up."

Tucker opens his eyes and sees Felix and a New Republic medic staring at him

Felix: "Woah woah woah, easy now. You've been knocked out for a while. Just take it easy, there's nothing to worry about. You're safe, Tucker."

"This reminds me of when he woke up after the 10 megaton bomb exploded." Nora giggled.

Jaune nodded, "He was the only one who thought their explanation of what happened didn't make any sense."

"And he was right in the end." Weiss praised.

Tucker: "[blearily] Ugh...what?"

Felix: "You took a rock to the back of the head. Good news is, we made it back to base undetected."

Tucker: "Back to base?"

Felix: "Welcome to the New Republic."

Camera pans up, revealing the New Republic's underground base

"An underground base? That's so cool!" Jaune grinned.

Team RWBY didn't share his enthusiasm. All looked at the base with a vague sense of tense deja vu.

"Kind of like the White Fang at Mountain Glenn." Ruby pointed out, airing the other's thoughts.

"Yeah, weird seeing it." Yang shrugged.

"Having an underground base is smart, we almost didn't find it." Blake glanced at Ruby. "We only found the White Fang by accident."

Ruby blushed, "I literally fell in it, all Zwei's fault."

Tucker: "Felix, what the fuck is going on...where is everyone?"

Felix: "Grif, Simmons, and Caboose are up in the main compound."

Tucker: "Well what about everyone else? What about Sarge? What about Wash?"

"What about Donut?" Yang raised an eyebrow.

"Or Lopez?" Weiss added.

"And Freckles?" Ruby joined in.

"And what about Doc?" Ren asked.

"I'm still confused about that." Jaune admitted

"Me too." Pyrrha smiled with a shrug.

Medic: "Umm...I- I'm gonna go."

"We know they were left behind but.. are they captured or dead?" Jaune asked.

"They're not dead, important characters like them wouldn't be killed offscreen- well no they could be dead." Blake hummed.

"What!?" Ruby shouted.

"If they aren't revealed to be dead for a while they could be killed off screen." Blake explained. "But that's the darkest route the show could take."

The medic leaves.

Felix: "Yeah, thanks, doc."

"That medic has purple trim." Ruby noted. "Do all their medics have purple? Is that the medic color?"

"The project Freelancer medics had the typical red and white coloring." Weiss pointed out.

"But they were doctors. Medics only comfort people while they die. There's a difference." Yang laughed.

Tucker: "Dude, do not fuck with me right now."

Felix: "We had to leave them, Tucker."

Ruby sighed, "I hope they're okay. That railgun Locus used was amazing! But that's because it was super dangerous. I'm surprised Wash was able to stand up after that shot." As she said this she cycled through the pictures of the railgun she took with Velvet's spare camera.

"You gonna make one of those?" Yang asked.

Ruby giggled sheepishly, "I'm going to find an Atlas guard that'd be willing to let me take a peek at his gun."

"Asking a guard to see his gun." Weiss facepalmed. "Ruby, that's rude."

"No it's not! And I'd be doing him a favor by making his gun amazing!" Ruby crossed her arms. "More amazing than it already is."

Tucker: "What?!"

Felix: "Look, the Feds were closing in. If we'd stayed any longer they would have taken you too."

Tucker: "No! That's bullshit!"

Felix: "That's war, Tucker! Not everyone makes it back!"

Blake shook her head, "They're in a real war now."

"Their war was never real, that lesson was never learned." Weiss sagged.

Ruby and Jaune once again looked at each other. Both in agreement, in their war against the Grimm they would make sure everyone made it back.

Felix: "You guys put up a good fight. I can see why Kimball wants you."

Tucker: "Who the fuck is Kimball?"

Vanessa Kimball: "I am. Vanessa Kimball, leader of the New Republic and very glad to meet you. I wish it were under better circumstances."

Yang turned to Ruby with a very cocky grin. "Hey Rubes."

"Wow I sound old!" Ruby grinned.

"Ruby, she sounds like a woman. That doesn't mean she sounds old." Weiss pinched the bridge of her nose. "I dread the day you sound like that, because I doubt you will act like less of a child even then."

Ruby crossed her arms, "I didn't mean it like that! I want to sound like her. I don't like sounding cute." She huffed.

"Aww even when you're mad you sound cute!" Yang moved to pinch Ruby's cheeks. I hope her voice doesn't sound like that, I'll miss her baby voice.

"Ahh! No!" Ruby screeched as she swatted her hand away.

Jaune chuckled, "So Ruby, your character is the leader of the new republic. That's pretty cool."

"Yeah! woah I've voiced two characters now. But Kimball sounds so much better! But I guess that means my character is the one paying you." Ruby shook her head.

"Hey, mercenaries are awesome." Jaune crossed his arms.

"My character doesn't fight for money." Ruby smirked.

"We don't know anything about your character yet, she's the leader of a rebel army. That's all we know so far." Blake pointed out.

"Yeah so? Rebels are the good.. guys." Ruby trailed off, thinking about the White Fang.

Blake chuckled, "In movies and TV. In the real world they're not always the 'good guys'. But so far they seem to be. Felix fights for them even though the Federal Army would probably pay him more. And they asked the reds and blues to join them instead of forcing them to."

Tucker: "Uh, yeah."

Kimball: "Your friends are waiting for you up near the mess hall. It's just north of here. Why don't you go catch up? We'll talk later."

"She seems nice." Yang commented.

"Very genuine." Pyrrha smiled.

"She's like a grown up Ruby." Weiss smiled in thought. She realized what she said a second later. "As- as if that was possible." She quickly added.

Tucker: "Yeah."

Tucker leaves

Kimball: "You're not getting paid the full amount."

Felix: "I know."

Kimball: "You're lucky you're getting paid at all."

Yang and Blake laughed.

Felix: "I know!"

"Hey, he tried his best." Jaune crossed his arms.

Ruby giggled, "She's fierce! I like it."

Kimball: "Are they as good as we hoped?"

Felix: "I think so. Either that or they're just really lucky."

"They have a lot of dumb luck mixed in with genuine skill." Pyrrha chuckled.

Kimball: "Well they probably don't feel very lucky."

Kimball leaves. Cut to Caboose, Grif, and Simmons outside the closed mess hall with a paper on it that reads "Mess Hall CLOSED"

Simmons: "It's a small rebel army, Grif."

Grif: "It's poor customer service!"

Simmons: "You were eating everything!"

"I can't believe they didn't run out of food." Weiss scoffed.

"Wash rationed it." Blake guessed. "Better than how he rationed the power."

Grif: "I'm an emotional eater! What can I say?"

"He ate a lot in the desert when he was nervous too." Jaune recalled.

Tucker approaches them.

Caboose: "Tucker?"

Tucker: "Hey."

Grif: "Sup."

Tucker: "Man, what the fuck is going on?"

Simmons: "After you were knocked out, we were taken to this huge cave somewhere beneath the jungle."

Tucker: "These guys live in a cave?"

Simmons: "They're rebels! Of course they live in a cave! It's hidden."

Ruby nodded, "Their armor is also a very rebel..y you know? Camouflage."

"While the Feds have white armor, because they are supposed to be noticed." Blake explained. "And feared."

Grif: "Nah, I'm with Tucker. I was expecting some badass snow base or something."

Simmons: "What? Why?"

Grif: "That's what they had in Star Wars!"

"Star Wars?" Weiss asked.

Simmons: "How is that even relevant?"

Grif: "Tell me this is not just like Star Wars. Tell me."

Caboose: "Tucker does have a glowing sword…"

Grif: "Tucker has a glowing sword, Simmons!"

"Whatever this star wars is, it sounds awesome!" Ruby grinned.

"Glowing swords are cool." Jaune agreed, "I want Tucker's keysword."

"Velvet's working on it." Ruby assured him. "Ugh I wish I knew as much about hardlight technology as her!"

Tucker: "Man...we're really all that made it?"

The four grow silent, and lower their heads.

The group did the same.

Felix emerges from atop a boulder.

Felix: "Hey, something's come up. Follow me."

Simmons, Caboose, Grif, and Tucker follow Felix. Cut to two soldiers

New Republic Soldier A: "Dude, I'm telling you, it's them!"

New Republic Soldier B: "Woah, maybe we're not fucked."

"They give them hope." Ruby smiled.

"I wonder if that's what people feel like when a huntsman shows up." Yang smirked.

Cut to Kimball speaking with the Reds and Blues

Kimball: "Michael Caboose, Dexter Grif, Richard Simmons, and Lavernius Tucker."

"I thought his name was dick?" Weiss frowned.

Ruby and Nora began to giggle.

"Oh please, dick is a completely respectable name." Weiss rolled her eyes.

That only made them laugh harder.

Kimball: "The four of you have traveled great distances, retrieved ancient artifacts, brought corrupt men to justice, and bested the most dangerous war criminals this galaxy has ever known. And now it seems fate has brought you to our doorstep."

Grif: "No pressure."

"They really have accomplished great things." Weiss complimented.

"After season two they went on a lot of road trips." Yang chuckled.

"The ancient artifacts would be Tucker's sword and the Church-ball." Jaune rubbed his chin.

"They found the Director while the UNSC couldn't and brought him to justice." Ruby added.

"He brought himself to justice." Blake looked down. "Though he did it because he couldn't bring her back right. He might have felt a little guilty, but he would have lived with it if he could have brought her back."

"That whole scene was so depressing." Ruby sagged, "But them fighting dangerous war criminals was awesome!" She lightened up in a flash. "Mostly their fight with the Meta. But fighting C.T. was cool too."

"Tucker was awesome then." Jaune smiled.

Kimball: "I am aware that you've been informed of our situation, and I understand your reluctance to help fight a war that is not your own, but we've just received word that the Federal Army has your friends alive and in captivity."

"So now they have to fight, the Feds made this fight personal." Yang slammed her fists together.

"Biiig mistake." Nora giggled.

Tucker: "They're okay?!"

Simmons: "What's gonna happen to them?"

Kimball: "We're not sure. But, if they're alive, it means they can be rescued. And, it means this war may become yours after all."

Grif: "Ah, shit."

Jaune and Nora laughed.

Kimball: "So, I'm going to make you a promise. If you help us take back our planet, we'll help you take back your friends. And when it's all over, you can take our best ship, and fly as far away from this place as you want. I know it's not the best offer, but what do you say?"

"She's almost as good at speeches as you." Yang turned to Ruby.

"I- I don't make speeches!" Ruby blushed.

Grif: "Look, lady. I don't know what you think we can do, but I seriously doubt we can actually do it."

"At this point they shouldn't doubt themselves, they've accomplished so much." Pyrrha smiled.

"Yeah isn't he listening to her?" Ruby asked.

Kimball: "This war has gone on for too long. Too many people have died, and our remaining soldiers are young, inexperienced, and scared. But you give them hope. They've heard what you've done and they will look to you for guidance; they will run with you into battle, they will follow your orders, if you choose to lead them. I can't do this alone."

Jaune smiled and looked at his teammates. Me neither. Without them I'd be nothing.

Ruby did the same and smiled, Best team ever.

Simmons: "Sarge is gone. Wash is gone. How the hell are we supposed to do this without them?"

Tucker: "Yeah, none of us have ever led anyone before."

Caboose: "Well, not for very long."

"Grif is the same rank as Sarge, he led the red team at rats nest." Jaune pointed out.

"He sold their ammo to the blue team and they lined him and Simmons up for execution. I doubt he had or used any of his authority." Weiss scoffed.

Jaune frowned, "Oh yeah.. well uh Simmons also became the leader of Red team for a little while back in Blood Gulch."

"He wasn't very good." Ruby smiled weakly.

"I still want to know what Girly laps are." Yang raised her hand.

Jaune shrugged, "He still led people before. You could also say that Tucker led people before. He led the aliens or something."

"Yeah.. kind of?" Ruby raised her hands. "I don't know."

Blake began to snicker to herself. Red vs Blue is an elaborate Mpreg story.

Kimball: "I know, but...you just need to try."

Cut to Tucker's face.

"Wash said the same thing." Jaune recalled.

Cut to Tucker, Caboose, Grif, and Simmons walking out towards New Republic soldiers. The soldiers wait for their command.

Tucker: "Hmm...Alright. Let's run some drills."

"Tucker is taking responsibility." Pyrrha smiled.

"How the tables turn." Yang chuckled.

"I think out of all of them, Tucker might be the best leader." Jaune commented.

"After what happened with Caboose, he might have learned a lot and improved." Pyrrha hoped.

"Grif is so lazy he'll love telling people what to do." Weiss huffed.

"You like telling people what to do, does that mean you're lazy?" Yang smirked.

"What? That doesn't even- I'm not rising to the bait Yang." Weiss crossed her arms.

"Already did." Yang laughed, "I hope Simmons gains some confidence leading again. But not too much."

"He gets overconfident." Jaune winced, "I can sympathize."

"Your dad gave you bad advice." Ruby giggled.

"No, I just used it wrong." Jaune rubbed the back of his neck.

-Technically Brothers SS- Not Canon

"Ha! She sounds all grown up. It's hard to believe that someday she'll sound like that." Tai sighed.

"I hope the little squirt doesn't grow up too fast." Qrow commented darkly yet with a smile. "Though if she ever does sound like that, she'll still be a kid."

"I don't think she'll ever let go of her kiddy side." Tai agreed. "But she's already grown so much."

"She still has a ways to go." Qrow shrugged. "Still doesn't think like a huntress, thinks like a hero."

Tai sighed, "Yeah. I worry about her."

"Worry all you want Tai, it won't stop her. It's hard to believe anything can." A naive part of me thinks even she can't stop her. Qrow thought.

"I don't think anything can, fairy tales all start somewhere with someone. She's one of them. I've never met someone so pure, it's all her mother." Tai grinned.

"Certainly didn't get it from you." Qrow barked a laugh.

"Yeah you're one to talk, I don't appreciate your influence on Yang." Tai snapped back with a good natured grin.

"She makes all of your stupid jokes, she's better at it which is worse." Qrow grimaced.

"At least you couldn't corrupt Ruby." Tai smirked.

"I do my best, but I didn't have much luck influencing Ruby. I think my weapon had more of an impact on her than me." Qrow frowned.

"Don't sell yourself short Qrow." Tai looked down. "…You know we aren't the closest anymore but-"

"Don't start with the touchy feely Tai." Qrow held a hand up. "..But thanks."

Tai smiled, "Yeah, no problem."

And that was all that needed to be said.

Grif: "Aww, man!"

Caboose: "And break!"

"Red vs Blue: Season 11" appeared before fading into blurred credits. "Contact" by Trocadero plays.

"We've been here so long."

"Whoo!" Yang stood up and clapped. Ruby and Nora joined her.

Pyrrha laughed happily, "That was a great season."

"I don't even mind the credits being blurred again for some asinine reason." Weiss scoffed, minding it heavily.

"The old music style is back at least." Jaune noted with a grin.

That cheered Weiss up immensely. "Yes it is, the score that started when Felix told them that something came up was great and this- this is a huge improvement to the music made back in the Blood Gulch Chronicles."

"It's a lot calmer." Ren smiled.

"Still I remember The rainy September

Contact

Two, four, one, ten Two, four, one, ten

Am I transmitting? Is anyone listening?

Contact"

"This is very calming." Pyrrha nodded to Ren in agreement.

"The slight whistle and breathiness of the vocals creates that feeling." Weiss hummed. "The lyrics are a little ambiguous."

"They're saying contact with some numbers, Wash was trying to make contact with people who could rescue them and the numbers are probably some code that they use." Jaune guessed.

"That makes sense." Weiss nodded.

"Two, four, one, ten

Two, four, one, ten

Am I still willing

To foot all this billing?

Contact"

"Foot all this billing? What's that mean?" Nora asked.

"To pay a bill, that's likely unreasonably high." Weiss explained.

"We are green and gray"

"Oh the rebel- wait no they're not really that green or grey." Ruby frowned.

"Locus is green and grey." Blake pointed out.

"But they said we?" Jaune raised an eyebrow.

"Like I said, ambiguous lyrics." Weiss smiled. "I like trying to find the meaning."

"The longness of semper

Still I remember

Contact

Two, four, one, ten

Two, four, one, ten

Are we transmitting?

Is anyone listening?

Contact"

Yang and Ruby began to nod their heads along with the song, Weiss hummed along with a simple theme that matched the songs. Unlike most people who do this, she sounded great and added to the song in a beautiful, harmonic way.

"Riding on our shiny metal horses

Singing a rider's song

One of us won't be be forgotten

The other one's wrong"

Blake frowned, trying to find meaning in the lyrics.

"Green and grey." Weiss's eyes widened. "Riding in shiny metal horses. The green refers to someone new to something. You'd call them green, grey could mean death. And shiny metal horses most likely refers to vehicles."

"Warthogs." Yang nodded.

"It's a song about war." Blake agreed.

"But that could still refer to the reds and blues? I don't understand the contact line." Jaune frowned.

"Meh, it sounds good either way." Yang shrugged.

"Yeah.. I like the rock from the last few seasons but that wouldn't fit here." Ruby explained.

"Two, four, one, ten Two, four, one, ten

Am I still willing

To foot all this billing?

Contact

When I think of you

Your name's in the sky

Ninety feet high"

"Someone rising up after death." Pyrrha explained the meaning.

"Is ninety feet significant?" Weiss asked. "I wonder."

"Contact

Riding on our shiny metal horses

Singing a rider's song

One of us won't be forgotten

The other one's wrong."

The song ends.

"His voice is beautiful, and it's almost certainly the same one from the soundtrack in the earlier seasons." Weiss commented.

"Again, almost everything about this season was a return to form." Blake commented.

After the credits, the camera fades in to reveal Locus speaking to his superior through a computer screen.

The group sat up.

Locus: "We searched Crash Site Bravo, Sir."

Computer: "And?"

Locus: "The crate was recovered, intact and completely sealed."

Computer: "Wonderful news."

Locus: "However, it looks as if they tried to blast it open. Do you think they knew?"

"Didn't Wash shoot at that crate- yeah that's the bullet hole." Ruby pointed.

"Hm." Blake frowned. "He was looking for materials to make Caboose's helmet."

Computer: "Highly unlikely. Report back to control as soon as possible, Locus."

Locus: "Are you sure keeping them alive is the best course of action?"

Computer: "Do you feel threatened by the simulation troopers, Locus?"

"He should be. He's just another war criminal in the making." Weiss rolled her eyes.

"He is?" Ruby asked, crossing her arms. "War should be criminal anyway."

"In a perfect world." Weiss sighed. "Anyway there are rules about targeting civilians and the Reds and Blues aren't real soldiers. They could technically be classified as civilians."

"The federal army could argue that because of what they have done they are a paramilitary group." Blake pointed out. "But either way it doesn't matter, the UNSC gave up on Chorus. The Federal government of Chorus can decide what is a war crime and what isn't."

Locus: "Of course not."

Computer: "Then we will continue with our endeavors as previously discussed. Do I make myself clear?"

Locus: "Yes sir."

Cut to Carolina inside an unknown location.

Carolina: "Good, I'll be there before you know it."

The episode ends.

"WE WERE RIGHT! I WAS RIGHT! CAROLINA WILL BE THE SECOND META!" Nora shouted.

"Gah! Inside voice!" Jaune gasped.

"That's preposterous, how and why would she become another Meta?" Pyrrha asked, affronted at the accusation against her character.

"She's with the evil guys! She's a bad guy now!" Nora explained with a self satisfied smirk.

"That doesn't make her another Meta." Blake pointed out. "And I think she was tricking him. Locus sounded suspicious after she said that they would continue as previously discussed- and she told him not to kill Wash and the Reds that he captured."

"Or she was just listening in." Jaune shrugged.

"It was a girl talking to Locus though." Ruby frowned.

"It doesn't make any sense for her to turn against them." Pyrrha added.

"Yeah." Ruby agreed, "But it sounded like she was. It's cool seeing her again though, and in her old armor! In the old game too for some reason."

"We'll just have to see why tomorrow." Yang shrugged.

Pyrrha grimaced, not wanting to wait until tomorrow to see what happened to Carolina. Her thoughts were soon interrupted however.

"Hello! And thank you for your continued viewing-"
