Thank you, Hannah (grahamlecter) for Beta-reading my story and finding my mistakes so that I can fix them.

In my hurry to get these posted today, I neglected to thank my Beta Reader, . Without her dedication, there would be many mistakes. The characters deserve the best.

I'm juggling these stories (and a new one) the best I can, y'all, and I'm tired. Trying my best to get the ten chapters from Hannah edited so that I can post them while sending the last handful to her for checking. AND finalize the edits for the chapters in Side Stories. But I will proceed and get them all done.

Please enjoy.

Chapter 49 - Energizer Sex Bunny (Thank you, Suzanne, for the chapter title suggestion)

Inside the house, they brought drinks to the living room. Spencer set his on a coaster on the coffee table and sat on the chaise first, stretching his legs out, pulling Susan gently across his lap.

She took a sip as she kicked off her slip-on shoes, letting them drop to the floor. Reaching over, she set her glass down next to his. "Hmm, I guess we can check another first off the list. I never realized the backseat was so comfy."

In between kisses, they talked about upcoming topics in Susan's class and studies they had each read, regarding the regions of the brain that dealt with desire, love, and sex.

"It makes me feel… special knowing that you became aroused during my lecture. Did it happen the entire time?"

Susan grinned. "Dr. Reid, are you calling me a deviant?"

He laughed, still stroking her back. "I'm curious."

"It was only when you looked into my eyes and I had that flash of you kissing me. I started shaking, and the buzzing sound faded in and out. So, was that a premonition, or merely wishful thinking?"

He shrugged. "Six months ago, I would have said wishful thinking, but now… I'm leaning towards premonition."

"Isn't it funny when science can't be used to find a way to explain something? Maybe it's a gift?"

"I don't know if I'd use the term funny, but as a firm believer in science, there are some things in our relationship I can't explain, so I have to accept. Besides, you are my gift." He closed his eyes, moving his hand up her legs to her lower back, under her dress.

"Hmm, you're sweet. There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy."

He kissed her, and she shuddered, curling up against him. The overture from The Nutcracker started playing; the sound coming from Susan's purse on the table. "Isn't that Lizette's ringtone? Do you want me to get it?"

She was kissing his neck, murmuring. "Gator can leave a message. Trust me, Love, she won't be upset. If she calls three times in a row, that means an emergency." He liked Lizette, and he understood she and Susan were close, but knowing he was her number one priority made him feel good.

Of course, this made him feel even better. "You know, I… mmm… was reading in the third month, the increase of hormones and blood flow… boosts a woman's libido. You're ahead of schedule."

Susan was now kissing his earlobe. "Mm-hmm. It must be you, then." Her sock-covered toes curled, and she shuddered again.

"I hope I can keep up with you." He had one arm around her back with his other hand holding the back of her leg.

Her cellphone rang again, this time it was a default ringtone. Susan gave a low, throaty growl.

Spencer chuckled. "What was that about?"

"All I want is you… don't wanna talk to anyone else."

How about lunch? Or better yet, a shower, sleep, and then lunch?" He opened his eyes and sighed. "If I can make it up the stairs."

Susan got up and leaned over, giving him a kiss. "Sounds good. I'll start the shower." She looked back at him as she started up the stairs. "You coming, Lover?"

He got up, playfully commenting on her choice of words. "Again? Woman, you're insatiable. I need to rest. When your libido does kick into overdrive, I'll be crawling into work, if I manage to survive at all." He chuckled, shaking his head. "Yeah… I'm on my way."

After a quick shower, they talked, holding hands as they made their way back down the stairs. "Okay," he said, "now you need some rest, which is why we aren't laying down on our bed."

"I agree. A nap would be nice… then some naked wrestling."

Spencer chuckled. "I love how you can be silly sometimes." He kissed the side of her head.

"It's because I feel safe with you, knowing you won't judge me. I don't feel the need to be so… academic… all the time. It's like how you wear two different socks. I find that utterly adorable."

He stopped and kissed her. "I love you."

"Mm-hmm, I know. Je t'adore."

"Shut it yourself," he smiled impishly.

"Do you even realize how sexy you are? In class, nearly every female and a few guys sat up and paid attention when you talked. You were brilliant. I was trying not to distract you."

He shook his head, slipping his arm around her waist as they stepped off the stairs. "The only woman I noticed was you. I'm surprised I made it through the entire lecture, without stripping our clothes off, and making love to you right there on the desk."

Susan laughed, fanning herself. "Hoo-boy, is it getting warm in here. Now there's a mental picture. That would have made quite the demonstration in class."

"Maybe I should work out with you. To… increase my stamina… so I can keep up with you."

"Well, Plato said, He who is only an athlete is too crude, too vulgar, too much a savage. He who is a scholar only is too soft, too effeminate. The ideal citizen is the scholar-athlete, the man of thought, and the man of action. Working out with you? Woo hoo and a half!"

"Sweetheart, you should see me at the firing range." He smiled and winked. Feeling her shudder against his side made him ache for her and a nap, in equal measures. Well, almost equal.

"Be still my heart." She fanned herself with her free hand.

"Join me on the sofa, for a little nap?"

"Or… we could stretch out in the guest room next to the library."

"Okay, but you and I need sleep… and snuggles…"
