Chapter 58: Heading Home

Cedric, Harry, and their cargo were deposited back on the Hogwarts Qudditch Pitch. Immediately they had numerous wands pointed at them.

"What happened?" asked McGonagall, "And… is that Pettigrew?"

"Someone hexed the cup into a Portkey, and we were captured by these people claiming to be followers of Voldemort. They tried to brew some sort of potion, and it literally blew up in their faces," said Harry, "when we arrived, one of them cast a Killing Curse at us, which we dodged. After that one of them cast a stunner at me and tried to use my blood to fuel their ritual".

"Mr. Diggory?" asked McGonagall, "what did you see?"

"Harry pushed me out of the way of the Killing Curse, and then we both got stunned," said Cedric, "I only woke up as their ritual was going wrong, and Harry helped me take cover from the explosion".

A familiar man in a bowler hat hurried over, an ugly, toad-like woman in a pink cardigan following behind him.

"You can't honestly be claiming You-Know-Who is back!" blustered Fudge.

"I'm never said that, Minister," said Harry, "I said these two men, both of which are convicted Death Eaters, claimed to be trying to resurrect Voldemort. I'm no expert on dark rituals, but one requiring one of the participants to cut off their own hand must be pretty bad. As I said, they must have performed it wrong, as the cauldron blew up. Besides, how would I know what Voldemort looked like if I saw him? I've only seen him when I was an infant, and had no desire to look up images of the murderer that killed my parents".

The Minister relaxed fractionally. Potter wasn't claiming to have actually seen You-Know-Who. Fudge looked over at the pink toad and waved her off. Still, the Aurors (and likely the Unspeakables) would want to look into this kidnapping of both Potter and Diggory.

"Would you two be willing to make a statement to the DMLE?" asked Fudge

"Of course, Minister Fudge," said Harry, "and of course we'll have to hold the victory ceremony for Cedric".

"But… you both have the trophy," said Fudge.

"Minister, I was entered into this tournament against my will," said Harry, "Cedric is the real champion".

Cedric and Harry were swiftly taken off to be questioned by Auror Bones, and the dead Death Eaters were quickly identified and the search for them called off. After the questioning, the two students made their way down the hall together. They ended up in a quiet corner, and Harry knew what was coming.

"So, you are Asulmagus. How did this happen? Who knows?" asked Cedric.

"To the question of how this happened, basically it was accidental magic pushed beyond any reasonable extent by severe abuse and a bit of pure chaos thrown into the mix," said Harry, "as to who knows here at Hogwarts, There's my circle of friends, as well as Professors Snape and McGonagall. There's also Remus Lupin and Sirius Black. They all understand the importance of keeping this a secret. Also, I'm sure I don't need to tell you after what you've seen this school year, but don't trust Dumbledore".

"I'll agree on that," said Cedric, "and I swear to you that your secrets are safe with me".

The last month of the school year rolled along, and the students completed their exams for this year. Before they knew it, it was time to head home again. Harry and his friends sat in their compartment, chatting about their summer plans. Harry spoke casually on what he might do, but his eyes kept drifting towards the sky. Something told him that his troubles were only to get worse in the future.

In the woods outside of Little Haggleton, a pale skinned man with crimson eyes awoke with a start. He slowly sat up from the forest floor, broken tree branches around him, and looked down at his hands: long, spidery fingers. He reached up to touch his face: no real nose to speak of. He… was alive? He remembered an explosion, the ritual going wrong. What had happened? How did he get here? A quiet rasp of scales across the forest floor caught his attention. He glanced over to see his Familiar gazing at him.

"Master?" said Nagini, "Are you alright?"

Something inside him didn't feel quite right, like a piece of him didn't quite fit.

"I don't know," said Voldemort, "I honestly don't know".

Deep Space

On a distant planet, a massive creature rested in their lair. They listened to their servitors as they explained about how Gigan had failed at its mission to capture this 'Asulmagus', telling them what information they were able to recover from Gigan's hard drive… at least the part that wasn't too corrupted by whatever virus had infected its systems. It was later determined the source was not technological, and could likely effect organic minds as well. They had their servitors devise an implant that would aid in shielding their minds from this sort of attack, and use it on them.

Their eyes fixed on this puny creature, and considered vaporizing it for daring to bring bad news to their kings. Instead, they tilted one of their snouts, shooing this lesser creature away so they could think on what they'd learned.

This Asulmagus was an intriguing creature, despite still being a naught but an adolescent, he was clearly truly powerful, not as mighty as they, to be sure, but he possessed abilities they'd not seen before, strange power, 'magic' apparently, that seemed to bend the very fabric of reality around him. They'd seen the damage that had been dealt to Gigan, and felt they knew well what to expect. They reached a consensus, and prepared for what was to come. They stood to their full, glorious height, the light catching their golden scales perfectly.

"Prepare for departure," spoke the kaiju's left head.

"This Asulmagus will be ours!" spoke the right head.

"We will see to it personally," said the middle head.

They strode from their throne room, twin tails trailing behind. Meanwhile, their servitors rushed to begin preparing the invasion fleet. There were plans in place for this sort of thing, they'd done it many times before as their kings expanded their empire. Ships were stocked and crews prepared for the long journey ahead of them. Now, it was time to return to Earth… with this Asulmagus being their kings' target. Their kings' dreadnought began to hum to life, and they readied to set out.

"You know what they say, brothers," said the right head.

"If you want something done right," said the left head

"You do it yourself," sneered the middle head.

"For all shall serve under the glorious, eternal rule of King Ghidorah!" they roared in unison.

A/N: Oh yeah, we're going there. The kid gloves are officially off. Harry/Asulmagus. as well as the other kaiju of Earth are going to have his work cut out for them when the time comes. In any case, next time Harry will visit Grimmauld Place... and aid in the destruction of a certain Locket. See you then!
