A/N: I am so glad you are all enjoying this story! I love writing it and reading all of your reviews, they keep me motivated! I also updated "Where do we go from here." I hope you all enjoy that update as well.
The next couple of days were hectic for the couple. Rory was still feeling sick, so Logan made her go to the clinic and they were told it was probably a stomach bug that was going around the campus. They did another pregnancy test and that one came out negative as well. She was prescribed rest and fluids, so Logan was limiting the coffee and constantly on her to drink more water. While his behavior, well taking away her coffee, irritated her she knew it was because he loved her so she couldn't be to mad. He also stepped up more at the paper and had a few of the underclassman that had shown a talent in editing and layout assist with getting the paper done. Rory was proud at the way he handled everything, and she agreed with his choices, thinking that she might have them do more since one of them would probably be taking over as editor from her. She also saw his actions as him fully embracing being a 'Huntzberger,' and all that it entailed in the news world and when she told him so, he seemed slightly embarrassed but also happy at her words. He had been running from his 'destiny' for so long it was weird for him to realize that he was now embracing it and might be good at it.
Finally, it was Friday, and they were headed to the city. Thankfully, Rory was feeling a lot better, and they were both happy that she would be able to enjoy the weekend. While she was at the paper Logan was packing the last-minute things when his phone rang.
"Hey dad," Logan answered. "I wasn't expecting to hear from you this morning since I'm going to see you in a few hours."
"Well," Mitchum hesitated and looked down at the grainy photo in his hand. It was a CCTV still from a pharmacy and it showed what appeared to be Logan holding a pregnancy test and he was unsure of how to broach this subject. "Umm…"
"Dad, is everything okay?" Logan asked worriedly and sat down on the couch. Mitchum Huntzberger was not one to beat around the bush, so he knew something was seriously wrong.
"Is there something that you and Rory need to tell us?" Mitchum finally blurted out.
Logan sat in shock for a moment and wondered how in the world his father suspected anything. "What do you think you know?"
"Someone contacted HPG to sell photos of someone who appears to be you in a pharmacy buying…" Mitchum trailed off.
"Dammit," Logan cursed and rubbed his temples. He was afraid of this and that's why he went to the edge of New Haven to buy those tests. "Nothing to tell you," he sighed. "Rory caught the stomach bug and was throwing up. I went to buy the tests because you know… They came back negative, but Rory was still feeling sick, so we went to the campus clinic… it was just a stomach bug that is going around campus."
"Thank god," Mitchum sighed. As much as he wanted Rory and Logan to get married, he wanted them to want to, not feel like they had to. When Logan remained silent, he realized how his words may have sounded and let out a deep sigh. "It wouldn't be a bad thing… its just… I want you two to get married because you both are ready for it not because…"
Logan closed his eyes and bit back the automatic condescending retort that was on the tip of his tongue. His father sounded sincere, not his normal disappointed tone, and he had been trying lately… "I understand," he finally stated. "While Rory and I have talked about kids neither of us are ready for that step. Now what kind of news coverage should we be expecting?"
"HPG bought the photos," Mitchum stated. "It cost $3 million, but I figure its worth it. It shouldn't come out, but you never know."
Logan let out a pained groan and he thought of Rory's reaction. "I'll let Rory know."
"Okay," Mitchum replied, thankful that he wasn't having to tell Rory the news. "I will see you both tonight."
Logan sat and started at the phone long after he had hung up. He didn't want to have to tell Rory this news, but he knew he needed to. There was so much going on this weekend with the wedding and while she was feeling better, he knew she wasn't 100% yet. He was so lost in his thoughts that he didn't hear Rory come into the apartment.
She studied him for a few moments knowing something happened. "Is everything okay?" she asked.
He let out a deep sigh and Rory went to join him on the couch, "Dad called. The pharmacy that I bought the tests from sold HPG pictures of me buying them." Rory groaned and leaned into him. "I am so sorry Ace," he continued. "I went to a pharmacy outside of New Haven where I didn't think anyone would recognize me…"
"Its not your fault," she told him as she turned to look into his eyes. "If something gets published then HPG will release a counterstatement. I just hope it doesn't take away from Honor's wedding."
He let out a sigh of relief at how well she was handling this. "I hope nothing comes of this, but you just never know."
"There is no use worrying about this now," she stated with a resigned sigh. "If it comes out then we will deal with it. I'm sure Mitchum already has the PR team working on this and I'll call Edward to give him a heads up," she paused with a groan not wanting that conversation. "And then we will try and forget about it while we enjoy Honor and Josh's weekend."
Logan sighed and placed a kiss on her lips. "I'll finish getting everything together while you make that call."
"So, since this is so stressful think you would be willing to let me have a cup of coffee?" she asked with a small pout knowing that she already had her one 'allowed' cup for the day.
He chuckled at her pout and placed another kiss on her lips, "yes you can have another cup. You know I just limited you because its not good for you to have too much when you're sick."
"I know," she replied with a soft smile. "And while I may curse you in my head when I feel myself start to drag, I know you love me."
"I do," he agreed, "so much."
"And that's why I think you may be right that my coffee consumption may be a teensy bit too much," she stated moving her fingers, so they were barely apart to demonstrate, and it earned her a chuckle.
"Make that phone call, Ace," he told her with a sigh as he stood up. "I almost have everything ready to go."
It wasn't long until they were on the road after a stop for the promised coffee. The phone call with Edward went better than expected, with the elder already being aware of the situation thanks to Mitchum since he had called after he got off the phone with Logan. Edward had also already spoken with the Gilmore's and Chris and Chris was calling Francine, so that everyone would be aware of the situation. Mitchum and Edward along with HPG and HIG's PR departments were already on it trying to eliminate the story before it got published. For now, everyone could just wait to see what would happen. While Edward was looking forward to the day that the couple got married and had children, he wasn't ready for it quiet yet. He wanted them to enjoy their youth, get settled in their jobs before they started that chapter, but he was hoping for at least the wedding bells sooner rather than later, after all he wasn't getting any younger.
Logan was apprehensive about the wedding for the first time. While he was excited for Honor, he knew the paparazzi would be worse in the city and with the possibility of the pregnancy scare coming out… he just hoped that it wouldn't happen for a few days so that they could make it through the wedding. If this news came out it was giving Lorelai ammunition for a possible attack and that was something that he and Rory would need to discuss later.
"Your deep in thought," Rory stated, her voice soft but slightly worried. They had not been in the limo long, but Logan had been deep in his own world the entire time, and it slightly worried her.
"Just this situation," he sighed and reached over to grab her hand. "I'm just worried about the possibility of this story getting published. We had finally gotten to the 'boring couple' phase," he paused and met her eyes, "but if this comes out then we are right back in the spotlight."
"I know," she sighed. "I was enjoying not having people follow us around everywhere, but I know we can get through this," she stated with a hint of doubt in her voice. She was worried that this being made public would make him run.
"Of course, we will," he answered reassuringly. "We can get through anything," he paused and debated on bringing up Lorelai and after a few moments decided that he should just say it. "I was also thinking that this would give Lorelai ammunition for an attack."
Closing her eyes, she leaned against him as his words sunk in. She was worried about this coming out, but she had not once given any thought to her mother. "Is it bad that I didn't even think about her reaction" she sighed. "I was worried about how the Gilmore's and Hayden's would react but didn't even think about her. I even thought about how Shira would think I did it on purpose to trap you…"
He was slightly shocked at her words since Lorelai's reaction was one of the first things, he thought about but then he chuckled at her words, and she looked at him questioningly. "Its funny, I thought about Lorelai, and you thought about Shira."
Rory had to giggle at that, "it is funny that neither of us thought about our own mother's reactions." Pausing she tried to get her thoughts in order to explain why she didn't think about Lorelai. "I think that I have realized that no matter what happens Lorelai will always find some fault with it, will always twist any event in our lives to fit her narrative. I guess… I don't care anymore. I won't let her attempt to control me any longer."
"Ace," he sighed and pulled her towards him. "She may realize that she made a mistake and try and make amends…"
"That will never happen," she vehemently stated. "After all this time she is still stuck in her beliefs that she is right, and I don't think that will ever change."
"And if it does?" he questioned. "If she came to you to try and make amends…"
"It wouldn't just be me she had to make amends with," she responded. "There are a lot of people that her actions and words have hurt besides me," pausing she squeezed his hand. "She would need to accept you, apologize to you, the Hayden's and the Gilmore's. She would have to admit that she was wrong, and that is something that I never see happening."
"I just want you happy, Ace," he told her as she moved closer into his embrace. "I know that you two were close."
"Your right," she relented. "We were close but that all changed when she refused to accept me changing. She may be my mother, but I have come to terms with her not being in my life. I have people around me that love and support me no matter what and help me become a better person. I like who I am now, I am confident and feel… like I am living for me for the first time in my life." She paused and looked at him and gently placed a kiss on his lips. "She could apologize but I don't think I could ever let her back into my life," she softly. Letting out a resigned sigh she rested her head against him a took a moment before she continued. "There is to much damage. The things she said, the things she did… I don't think I could ever forgive that. She could apologize but I would never trust her again, I would always be waiting for the next attack and I cant live like that."
He looked down at her and understood slightly how she felt. The relationship that he had with Shira was never good, never a true relationship, and he knew that he would never be able to forgive her. And the things that Lorelai had said… he saw how deeply it affected Rory and he never wanted to see her like that again. He was happy that she was putting her mother behind her, and they were moving to a future together, but he still couldn't help but be worried. Hearing her breath even out he glanced down and her and noticed that she was asleep. A soft chuckle escaped him at the sight, and he adjusted her slightly to a more comfortable position and placed a kiss on her forehead. Seeing her like this solidified her words, Lorelai really was the furthest thing from her mind.
From the moment that the couple arrived in New York, it seemed they didn't have a moment to breathe. As soon as the limo pulled up to the hotel, they were ambushed by photographers, all of them wanting information on the upcoming wedding but the couple remained silent as they quickly walked into the building. After checking in, they quickly made it to the room where they were soon greeted by Mitchum and an update was given about the situation. The elders had managed to get rid of the pictures, but people still talk and someone had told page six that someone that looked like Logan Huntzberger was seen buying pregnancy tests. They could attempt to publish the story but they wouldn't want to face the possible backlash so the story would probably be run as a blind item, a rumor published with no names. Everyone knew that even with no names the speculation would cause increased interest in them again and all they could hope for would be that the gossip would be short lived. By the time Mitchum left, Rory had to rush to get ready and while she did that Logan looked into planning a trip for just the two of them for spring break. They had been discussing going somewhere with the gang, but he knew that with the upcoming drama they would need to get away, just the two of them. When he heard the shower turn off, he walked into the bedroom for him to get ready as well. It was time to face the vultures.
The rehearsal went off without a hitch and then it was time for the dinner. Honor had decided on an upscale Italian restaurant and they had rented out the entire place for the group. Watching them all together, it wasn't the normal society gathering since these people actually seemed to like one another. The drinks flowed and the group laughed as they reminisced on stories about the Huntzberger children's early life and then the meeting of Honor and Josh. Mitchum watched the group and had a wistful look on his face that Logan noticed.
"Are you okay dad?" Logan asked after he separated from Rory and went to sit next to him.
"Fine Logan," Mitchum replied and turned to focus on his son. He was once again shocked and thrilled about the current relationship that he had with his children. "Just thinking about how nice all of this is," he continued as he gestured to the group of people.
"It is," Logan stated as his eyes focused on Rory and watched as she laughed with Honor and Josh.
"I know I've told you before…" Mitchum started to speak but then paused with a faraway look, "I am happy that you have found this, that you and Honor found happiness."
"You know its not to late for you to," Logan told his father. He had been thinking a lot about what Mitchum had told him about being in love before.
Mitchum gave him a sad smile before letting out a deep sigh. "I think I gave up my happy ending a long time ago and for so long I lived in the past… thought about what I had messed up that I never noticed what I had right in front of me," he paused and shook his head slightly. "I would have never loved your mother, but if I had stopped living in the past… maybe I could have found some happiness with what I had."
Logan studied his father and so many thoughts went through his mind. He wished he could say something to help his father see that he deserved to be happy but nothing came to mind. Looking at him, Logan could easily see his future if he hadn't met Rory, if he had followed his parents' plan, and it was lonely. There was so much in his life that Rory had changed, she had changed not only him but many of the people in this room. Looking at them, he liked this reality, he was excited for his future, and it was all because of one woman. Glancing back at his father he gave him an understanding smile; he could see how giving up love would make someone bitter. "There is one thing that Rory has taught me," Logan slowly stated and then paused to take a sip of his drink, "its never too late to be the person that you hope to be. You can always make new dreams and follow new paths."
Mitchum studied his son and he had to wonder if he would ever be able to find a semblance of the happiness his son and daughter had. He was thankfully saved from having to try and find a reply when Rory walked over to the couple and Logan pulled her down slightly and she sat on his lap and she giggled before placing a soft kiss on his sons lips.
"You two are having much to serious of a conversation on what is supposed to be a happy night," she stated and gave them both a pointed look.
Mitchum couldn't hold back his laugh, "your right. And I think it is time that I spoke with the happy couple before I head back to my room and let you youngsters enjoy the rest of your evening."
"We wont be out much longer," Rory replied. "I think Honor and Josh are leaving soon to get some rest," pausing she looked over at Logan. "Honor asked if some of the girls would hang out in her room for a bit."
"So, I'm losing you tonight?" Logan questioned not really looking forward to spending the night alone. Since London they had not spent a night apart and the thought of not falling asleep with her, waking up next to her, wasn't something that he was interested in thinking about.
"Not all night," she answered and placed her hand gently on his cheek. "I'm still not 100% and I know I need some sleep before tomorrow."
There was a smile on Mitchum's face as he watched the couple. This was love, this was commitment, and looking at them he could almost see their future and it was filled with love and laughter; looking at them he could see them being like Richard and Emily and defying all society odds by being a couple still in love after 50 years. "Well, if Honor is leaving soon then I think it is time for me to say goodnight. I will see you all tomorrow."
"Good night dad," Logan stated looking briefly away from Rory and she bid him good night at the same time. After Mitchum walked away Logan looked back at his love, "so is this a glimpse into what the night before our wedding will be like?" When she looked at him questioningly, he laughed slightly before continuing, "us sleeping apart the night before our wedding."
"It is a tradition," she sighed, "one that I am sure Francine and Emily will insist on."
"One that I hate," he countered.
"Me to," she quickly agreed. "But it might be something that happens when you have to travel for work…"
He shook his head no, "I don't want to think about it. I think we should always try and take business trips together."
She had to laugh at his comment, "we will have to make sure we negotiate that in our future contracts."
"You think I'm joking," he stated as he slightly tickled her, and she giggled before leaning against him. "I love you Rory," he sighed. "I know it may be clingy, or seem… dependent, but I always want you with me and when you're not… I often catch myself thinking about you."
"I'm the same," she answered. "Call it clingy or dependent… but I want you with me as well," gently she caressed his face and she moved to place a soft kiss on his lips. "I love you Logan and those moments of falling asleep with you, waking up next to you…" she trailed off with a small sigh, "they make me feel safe, loved."
"You are Ace," he murmured against her lips, "you are so very loved."
They sat in a comfortable silence for a few moments before Honor walked over to the couple. "As cute as this moment is I am going to pull a bridezilla and demand my sister come with me," she stated with her hands on her hips, her words causing Logan to chuckle and Rory to blush a bright red.
"Honor," Rory slightly wined but wasn't able to continue when Honor just shook her head.
"You may not be married yet," she paused and looked at the two of them with a bright smile, "but I know one day you will officially be my sister so no harm in me calling you that now!"
Logan laughed again and placed a kiss on Rory's temple before Honor grabbed her hand and pulled her up, "just give her back to me early tonight," he playfully demanded.
"No promises baby brother," she retorted as she and Rory linked arms. "This is my last night as a bachelorette."
Before Logan could respond Honor drug Rory off and he could only shake his head at the two of them. He made his way over to Josh and some of the other men to kill some time before he went back to the room, alone.
"So, Honor drug Rory off," Josh stated with a laugh and Logan had to chuckle.
"Yeah, said she wanted to spend some time with her sister," he replied and lifted his drink for a sip.
Josh could only laugh at the shocked looks from some of the other guys, "her sister?" one of them questioned.
"Yeah," Josh answered, "she thinks of Rory as that already. I think she has from almost the moment you introduced her as your girlfriend."
"So how is that working out for you?" one of the guys that Logan vaguely remembered as being a friend of Josh's asked. When Logan raised his eyebrow questioningly, he continued, "that single woman thing. None of us ever thought you would last this long or be part of a 'golden couple,'" the guy finished with a smirk.
Logan was slightly fuming at the questioning and Josh immediately noticed the look but before he could say anything Logan did. "Its amazing," he stated. "Being with the right woman can make anyone want to commit."
"But you," another guy laughed. "We all heard the stories…"
Logan gave him a glare and downed his drink before replying. "Yeah, you heard the stories of who I was before I met Rory. I don't even remember those days, those girls, they were all meaningless until her."
Josh could tell that the guys wanted to say more and in their drunken state they almost missed the glare but none of them missed the tone of his voice when he spoke. "You and Rory are perfect for one another. I don't think I have ever seen a couple more in love… well except for your sister and I."
The comment made Logan chuckle and broke some of the building tension. "Very true," he stated as he patted Josh on the back. "And I know you will always love her."
A slightly dreamy look crossed Josh's face, "I always will."
With that, Logan had enough and made his excuses and went back to the hotel. The guy's words were ringing through his head. He loved Rory more than anything, he couldn't picture his life without her… He wasn't an insecure guy except when it came to her. When they went out he noticed the looks other guys gave her, he saw the way they looked at him just waiting for him to screw up, and it got to him sometimes but she was always with him so he never needed any reassurances. But tonight… maybe it was the pregnancy scare or the ring that was burning a hole in his sock drawer, he just seemed to feel like something was going to happen. Before his thoughts could spiral to much his phone chimed and he looked at the text, a smile immediately coming to his face when he saw it was from Rory asking if he was back at the hotel. When he responded with a yes she quickly wrote back asking him to bring the present they got for Honor up to her room. They had planned on giving it to her in the morning but Rory thought it would be better to give it to her tonight so her eyes wouldn't be puffy from the inevitable waterworks. With a smile he went to the suitcase and grabbed the pale blue bag and walked to his sisters room down the hall.
He had barely knocked when the door swung open, and he saw his girl with a smile on her lips. She immediately wrapped her arms around him and placed a kiss on his lips that he immediately deepened.
"Knock it off," Honor play whined as she walked up behind Rory. "You are intruding on girl time."
Logan looked behind his sister and saw her other bridesmaids and he knew one of the contributing factors for her stating that she would be staying in their room for the evening. While Rory was getting more comfortable in society, she still wasn't fully comfortable being surrounded by girls that had tried to get with him for his name, money and looks like two of the bridesmaids had. Throughout the wedding planning and events they had made Rory uncomfortable by bringing up his past and Honor had to tell them more than once that they needed to knock it off. "I know sis," he replied with a smirk. "But when my Ace messaged and asked me to bring your present…"
"Oh! Give me!" she exclaimed as she went to snatch the bag.
"Uh uh," Logan teased as he moved the bag. "Lets to go your room for more privacy," he continued as he looked at the interested looks from behind her.
Honor, noticing where his gaze was going, nodded her head and the trio went into the room.
As soon as the door closed, Rory led Honor to the bed and had her sit down. "Now I know you were stressing about the something old, new, borrowed and blue… and also your jewelry so…" When she paused Logan handed Honor the bag and she pulled out one box and let out a gasp when she saw a stunning diamond cluster necklace, matching bracelet and earrings that would match her dress perfectly.
"That is your something old since it is a vintage Tiffany set, but it can also be your something new since its new to you," Logan told her with a large smirk, loving her reaction.
"This is…" tears were in Honor's eyes as she looked at the couple.
"We wanted you to have something special," Logan told her as his sister stood up and embraced him. "I love you Hon," he murmured against her hair.
"But how did you know it would match?" Honor questioned as she pulled back and looked at him.
"Rory went with you to all the dress fittings," he answered. "I picked out some sets I knew you would like and then Rory went with me to finalize it after she went to your final fitting."
Honor immediately let go of her brother and embraced her 'sister,' both of the girls holding back tears.
"Get the other box," Rory told her trying to stop the tears for a moment, but she suspected the second gift would cause more. Honor looked in the bag and got a second box and had to smile at the thin bracelet with small sapphire and diamonds spaced around the chain and paused when she realized that she had seen this bracelet before. "That is your something blue," Rory told her. "I know how much you liked the bracelet my dad had gotten both Gigi and I and… as my other sister my dad and I thought you might like a matching one."
The blonde couldn't hold back her tears as she looked down at the box and then the matching bracelet on Rory's wrist. "I love you like a sister," Honor told her as she hugged Rory again. "This means so much to me… that you think of me like a sister."
Logan looked at the two most important women in his life, hugging, with large smiles on their faces and tears on their face and he discreetly pulled out his phone to take a picture. After he took a few shots, he cleared his throat. "There is one more box," he told his sister and handed both women a tissue to wipe her tears. When she opened the final box, she looked questioningly at Logan since she immediately recognized the piece. "Every woman that has married into the Huntzberger family for the past six generations, well every woman except for Shira, wore that clip in their hair," Logan stated and also looked at Rory. "I know that after tomorrow you won't be a Huntzberger anymore but grandpa, dad and I agree that you should wear this since you will always be a Huntzberger to us," he paused since he was getting choked up seeing the tears stream down his sister's face. "We thought that this would be the perfect something borrowed."
Rory noticed that the box was about to slip out of Honor's hands, so she grabbed it and Honor immediately hugged Logan, both of them with tears in their eyes. She looked at the hair clip and her breath caught at the simple, yet elegant, piece in front of her. The silver comb was accentuated with pearls, diamonds and sapphires and was obviously old, but it was timeless, and she could almost picture her on her wedding day wearing this piece. She was so lost in her thoughts that it took her a few moments to realize that brother and sister were looking at her; Logan with a look of excitement at her reaction and longing for the moment that she would wear it and Honor with pure excitement as she could already see Rory wearing it on her wedding day to Logan.
"You'll be wearing it soon enough," Honor whispered as she pulled Rory to her for another hug. After they broke apart, they spent a little while looking at the pieces and Honor felt like everything was going to be perfect for her wedding and it was because of her brother and Rory. Looking at the two of them Honor once again thanked the stars at whatever twist of fate had led them to each other.
Logan woke first the following morning and savored the feeling of his Ace pressed against him. Rory was right, it was a smart call to give Honor her presents before the wedding day. He had expected his sister to cry but not as much as she did. Rory had told him that she would take care of the something blue but never would have suspected that she and Chris would have gotten Honor a bracelet that matched hers and Gigi's. Honor was right, it was only a matter of time until they were officially sisters. Feeling Rory stir slightly he looked down and brushed a stray hair from her face. After they had left Honor's room the previous evening, they had barely made it to the bedroom before they both passed out. It had been a long day of traveling, then the story, dinner, and time with Honor, so they were exhausted and desperately needed sleep.
"Morning," Rory whispered as she attempted to snuggle closer to him which caused him to chuckle. "Pillows don't laugh," she grumbled which caused him to laugh harder and she lightly hit his chest.
"Its to early for violence," Logan teased as he moved her, so she was under him.
"Hmm," she purred as she looked up at him and the look of pure love, with a hint of lust in his eyes made her want to kiss him so she did just that. Logan noticing the darkening of her eyes leaned forward and their lips met in a passionate kiss. "Is it to early for this?" she questioned against him lips in reference to his comment just moments before.
"Its never to early for this," he replied as he moved his lips to her neck and his hands caressed her body until they reached the hem of her shirt and he started moving them back up her body pulling the shirt off. "Or to late," he added as he broke his lips away to finish taking off the shirt and his eyes hungrily looked at her perfect body. "Ace you drive me insane," he stated as he moved his lips to her breast and started massaging the other with his hand. She moaned and wanted to reply but when he bit gently down, she lost all thought and just focused on what he was doing to her. One of her hands tangled in his hair and her other trailed along his back. When he moved his mouth to change breasts she arched up and pressed her core into him and he let out a pained groan and forgot all about her other breast and moved his mouth down. He loved eating her out, she was so sweet, better than any desert and her reactions when he did it… well they always drove him insane. When he reached her core, he peeled off her underwear and inhaled her scent deeply and could tell how aroused she already was. He teased her slightly by lightly licking her and slowly circling her clit with his tongue. He knew just what he needed to do in order to drive her insane and that is what he focused on right now but before he could tease her to much she gripped his shoulders and tried to pull him up her body."
"Please Logan," she begged, and he could see how much she wanted him. "No teasing…"
"No teasing," he stated and gently pressed his member into her. "Then what do you want?" he questioned while still teasing her.
She didn't answer with words but used her body to flip them over and she quickly slid his dick into her and let out an appreciative moan at the feeling.
"Impatient this morning," Logan groaned as she ground down on him. She didn't answer with words an immediately started riding him, up and down, he grabbed her hips to help with the rhythm and watched as she milked him. He loved watching as his dick would appear and disappear in her, she was small, and he was on the large side but they way they fit together… it felt like she was made for him. When she started to clench around him, he moved one hand to her clit and the other to her breast and started moving them, massaging her, and she climaxed and started to collapse on him, but he held back, not wanting this morning to end yet. Quickly he flipped them, so he was on top of her and started thrusting deep and determined into her and she immediately gasped and arched into him. He knew it wouldn't take much to make her cum again so he adjusted slightly and continued to thrust, positioning her so her legs were on his shoulders so he could go deeper in her, hit a spot he knew she loved and when she screamed, he knew he found it so kept up the pace. It wasn't long until she came again, and he followed close behind. Carefully he moved her legs down and he laid on her, careful not to put all of his weight on her.
"I think we can skip the gym this morning," she finally stated with a laugh after she caught her breath.
"I agree," he chuckled. "I think that was a good enough workout before the festivities."
"Hmm," Rory sighed as she thought about the crazy day they had scheduled. Breakfast should be arriving shortly, followed by her needed to take a shower, then go to Honor's room to start getting ready, then a light lunch would be served before they finished getting ready, then the ceremony and reception, just thinking about it all made her tired.
"Hey what's with the look?" Logan asked as he saw her face go from the relaxed state, he had just put her in, to a resigned, tired look.
"Just thinking about the day," she sighed. "It is guaranteed to be long."
"But fun right?" he questioned as he brushed a strand of hair from her face.
"Hopefully," she stated. "Doing the pampering stuff with Honor is fun but some of the other bridesmaids… If I have to hear about one more guy they want to sleep with or how much money they spent shopping I think I may scream," she let out a frustrated huff. "I get that not everyone wants to accomplish something, but they seem to just care about who can bag the richest guy. At least they have stopped asking about how much longer I think we will be together."
He knew what she meant, especially after some of the guys comments last night. It seemed like so many people expected them to fail, which in society was the norm. "We are just an… abnormality," he stated running his hand along her side. "Not many society relationships are based on actual love."
"I know," she sighed. "I get it, I do. It's just annoying."
"Did they say something last night?" he asked. "You seemed a little off when I got there."
"Not really… sort off," she answered, and he moved off her so that he could lay facing her. "Walker made a comment about how she would love to be the second Mrs. Huntzberger."
"God no!" Logan replied with a shudder. "Dad has better taste than to fall for one of Honor's friends."
"She meant after we divorced," Rory clarified, and Logan looked at her in shock but quickly started to laugh.
When she looked at him, slightly upset, he managed to get himself under control and gently cupped her face. "If we had never met and started dating there is still no way in hell I would ever be interested in Walker. She tried throwing herself at me for years, even going as far as getting into my bed naked one night. Nothing has ever happened with her because I know she just wanted the name and money. Her family is well-off but nowhere near as rich as most of the others."
"She got into your bed naked?" Rory questioned. "When was this?"
Logan's brow furrowed as he tried to remember the incident. "I want to say it was not long after I met you. Honor convinced me to go to Martha's Vineyard and Walker was there. I got drunk, went to bed alone and woke up with her on top of me with nothing on. She got tossed out of them room," he paused to laugh at the memory. "There were a few other people in the hallway that saw me pushing her naked out of my room and telling her to stay away."
"That must have been so embarrassing for her," Rory giggled.
"I don't think it bothered her to much since she tried to spread that we were dating the next day but the story of me pushing her out of the room was also going around," he slightly shrugged. "I think she is just desperate."
There conversation ended when a knock sounded on the door, so Logan went to stand up and pulled on his shorts and a tee shirt before going to get the food. He was surprised by the unexpected person on the other side of the door.
"Dad?" Logan stated and when Rory heard that she quickly got dressed, "what are you doing here?"
"Can I come in?" Mitchum asked and when Logan moved aside, he walked into the room and went to the couch. Logan was about to join him, but another knock came and Logan went to answer it, it was room service so he quickly took the tray and took it over to the table.
"Good morning Mitchum" Rory stated as she walked into the room. "Is everything okay?"
"Shira was spotted at the hotel this morning," Mitchum told them. "I have security increased, especially around Honor since I don't want anything to ruin today. I don't plan on telling her."
"She showed up here?" Logan asked incredulously. "I can't believe she would risk everything."
Mitchum could only shake his head, "she tried to come up to the floor but since we have it all booked…"
"And there is security at the elevator," Logan continued and then let out a breath. "I guess she got stopped."
"She tried to play it off that she was on the wrong floor, but he thought she looked familiar. After she got back on the elevator, he looked through the folder again and saw Shira's picture and realized it was the same person, so he immediately called his supervisor," Mitchum paused and let out a deep breath. "The guard has only been with HPG for a few months, so he had never seen Shira in person, but he said that she almost didn't look the same, her hair was browner, and the clothes were tight on her and she didn't have the normal put together look."
"Do you think she will try anything else?" Logan asked, worried that something might happen to ruin his sister's day.
"I don't think so," Mitchum replied. "We were able to get new photos from the security feed," pausing he handed Logan a picture and both he and Rory gasped at the sight. It was obvious to them that the woman was Shira, they knew her, but the woman in the photo had obviously fallen on tough times. She had put on weight, her hair looked like it had not been dyed in months and her make-up was even more heavily applied. "She was trying to get accepted in New York society, but she became a social outcast, no one is willing to invite her to things. The PI I have on her said that she blew through a lot of money buying clothes, going to fancy restaurants and now she has withdrawn." He paused thinking about what his ex-wife might possibly be planning and then sighed. "I don't know if she was planning on trying something or if she just wanted to see her daughter on her wedding day… I think some part of her really did love you both." Logan scoffed and was about to retort but Mitchum just held up his hand asking him to wait. "I'm saying this from my perspective. I never acted like I loved you, but I did, it just took a long time for me to realize my mistakes and try to fix them."
"Your right," Logan sighed, closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose. "Neither one of you ever acted like parents but you at least made amends. What Shira did, went to far and there is no way I would ever let her back into my life."
Mitchum had to sadly nod his head. He knew that Shira went to far, her actions alienated her from her son and he didn't think that anything could ever repair that divide.
Rory studied both men for a moment and knew that this would eventually need to be talked about again but today was about Honor. "Okay," she stated and clapped her hands slightly together. "We need to eat and get this day started. If you need to talk about this more later… then can it please be pushed off till after the wedding? I promise not to say anything to Honor, and I will stick to her side, but someone should tell Josh…"
"I'll talk to him," Mitchum stated.
"Let me eat and I'll go with you," Logan told his father. "I wanted to give him a heads up about Honor's new jewelry pieces. We gave them to her last night and she cried."
"I thought it would be best not to do it today," Rory told Mitchum. "I knew there would be tears and didn't want her all puffy."
Mitchum couldn't hold back his laugh at her words and Logan chuckled with him. "The comb meant the world to her," he stated. "As much as she cried, giving her that today…"
"I'm glad she liked it," MItchum told them with a smile. "I cant wait to see her wearing it."
The trio lapsed into a silence, each lost in their own thoughts until Rory's stomach growled causing them all to laugh.
"I think that's my cue to leave," Mitchum chuckled. "Logan just message me when your ready and I'll meet you."
"Okay dad," Logan replied as he stood and walked the older man to the door.
The door barely closed before he felt Rory's arms around his waist, holding his body against hers. He turned in the hug and pulled her as close as possible and let out a shuddering breath. He wasn't sure how he felt about the Shira situation. A part of him felt sad for her, the woman in the pictures didn't look like the perfectly groomed woman her remembered but the other part felt anger that she would try to start something on Honor's day, a day where everything should be perfect.
"Want to talk about it?" Rory questioned in a quiet tone.
"Not really," he sighed. "I just don't know what to say about this."
"She's your mother," Rory stated as she thought about how both of their mothers had acted since this relationship started.
Logan couldn't hold back the scoff. "She never acted like one," he retorted. "But part of me feels sorry for her but then I have to remember that she brought this all on herself."
"To her she was just acting like a mother…" she started but Logan cut her off with a look.
"No Ace," he firmly told her. "She was not acting like a mother. She was afraid of you and wanted to destroy us so that she could find me a trophy wife that would always bend to her. I have thought about this a lot… Rory you represent everything that she is not. You have the pedigree and wealth all on your own and you don't need my family or I for anything. You have Francine and Emily to guide you through this world, so you don't need her and people genuinely like you. She wasn't acting like a mother, she was acting like a trophy wife afraid of the competition."
Rory couldn't argue with his words so just leaned up slightly and placed a soft kiss on his lips. "We will make sure that she doesn't ruin today, that's all we can do right now."
"Your right," he replied and pulled slightly back. "Now let's eat so you can get to babysitting my sister."
A tinkling laugh escaped her, and Logan had to smile at the sound. Being with her was better than anything else to settle him.
Shira Huntzbeger looked at the article in the paper and reread it for the hundredth time. Ever since she had seen the article with speculation on her oldest child's wedding, she was rethinking so many things. Looking back, she wished she would have done things differently. Even though it broke her agreement with Mitchum, she had reached out to Honor, only for the call to go straight to voicemail. She had even traveled to Honor's apartment one day and found a table in a coffee shop so she could try and catch a glimpse of her daughter and she almost wished she hadn't when she saw her. Honor was stunning and the part that hurt was that she was happy. There was nothing in the way she looked that showed she missed her mother at all, though the fact shouldn't have surprised her. They had never been close, had never had a true mother daughter relationship but Shira had hoped that planning the wedding together would have changed that. Unfortunately, Shira never got a chance to help since she was essentially kicked out of the family. Even now, she couldn't admit full fault everything. Mitchum should have stood by her, and Elias shouldn't have changed sides… but there was no changing the past. The men accepted Rory and she didn't so that meant that they had a relationship with the kids, with Rory, and Shira was exiled. At times she wished that she would have just sucked up her pride and apologized and then worked behind the scenes to break the couple up, but she had to admit to herself that if she would have tried that she probably would have failed. It was highly likely that even if Rory had accepted, the rest of the family still wouldn't have trusted her and still hired someone to watch her.
Wiping away her tears she put the paper down and went to stand at the window of her apartment. She still had to make decisions on what to do next. She was still bitter about everything and was tempted to go to the press about Rory, try to contact Honor or Logan again but she didn't know if she would be able to handle Mitchum's wrath. But today was supposed to be her daughter's wedding and she wanted to see her, if only for a moment. With that thought she got ready and headed to the hotel.
It was easy to sneak into the hotel and find the floor but that was as far as she made it since a guard was stationed on the floor as soon as the elevators opened. Luckily, she was able to escape without being questioned in depth on what she was doing there, but she didn't hold out any hope that she would not be recognized. Quickly she left the hotel and headed to a coffee shop across the street debating on her next move. She assumed the wedding would be early evening so there was plenty of time between then and now. She would just need to find a place to hide in the hotel and hope to catch a glimpse of Honor…
"Hello Shira," came Mitchum's voice and she was so startled she almost spilled the lukewarm coffee in her lap.
"Mitchum," she squeaked out. "What are you doing here?"
He let out a mirthless chuckle and sat down across from her. "You know exactly why I'm here," he replied while giving her a cold glare. It didn't take him long to track down his ex after he left Rory and Logan's room. He knew he needed to do something to try and ensure that Shira didn't do something to upset Honor. His daughter was so excited for this day and had worked tirelessly to plan the event and she deserved for it to be perfect. "You think I wouldn't have found out that you tried to contact Honor this morning?"
"I just wanted to see her," Shira softly replied. "Today is her wedding day and there are all these things we should be doing together…"
"You lost that right months ago," he retorted. "You signed the papers, you agreed to not contact Honor."
"I made a mistake," she stated. "I made so many mistakes."
"You realized that you are almost out of money," he scoffed. "New York wont accept you, you are running out of money because you wasted it all, and now you want to try and beg for some from the kids."
"No," she denied even though his words held a hint of the truth. "I just want to see my daughter on her wedding day, dressed in a beautiful white gown…"
"I'm sure pictures will be published tomorrow," he told her. "You can see plenty of photos of Honor dressed up in all the society pages and that will have to be enough for you. I warned you Shira, you need to stay away."
"You're really going to keep me away from my daughter?" she asked in a pleading voice.
"Honor has made it clear that she doesn't want to say you," he stated as he stood. "She knows about the divorce; she knows you are in that apartment and while I told her that I told her not to contact you she still had the ability to reach out to you if she wanted to. Did she ever stop by? Did she ever call?" he asked with a knowing smile. "The kids made their choices Shira and its time for you to respect them. You better not step foot in the hotel, church or reception site today and Honor better not see you. She has put in a lot of work to ensure today is perfect and you will not ruin that for her!" He didn't even give her a chance to respond before he walked away from the table.
She had not idea what to do next. Mitchum's words stung and her heart broke because she knew it was all true. Honor never once reached out to her after the divorce, never tried to visit her in New York and Logan… well he was done with her the moment she hired that PI to try and dig up dirt on Rory. There was no going back, no way to move on in society after this. Honor, Logan, Rory and their friends controlled the younger society set and as for the elders… well they would show solidarity to ensure their family's place. Slowly she pushed away her now cold coffee and stood from the table. There was only one thing left for her to do.
Rory studied Honor's reflection in the full-length mirror and a small smile came to her face. After Mitchum's visit she ate, showered and headed to Honor's room where the festivities were already starting. With the rest of the bridesmaids already tipsy it was up to Rory to ensure that things went smoothly with hair, make-up travel to the church and now she had just gotten Honor dressed in one of the most stunning wedding dresses she had ever seen.
"You look perfect," Rory told the blonde as she moved closer to adjust the necklace and earrings, a soft smile on her face.
"I never did thank you for all the help you gave me," Honor replied as she grabbed Rory's hand. "All this planning," pausing she took a deep breath and tried to control the tears that were threatening.
"Don't you start crying!" Rory scolded. "You cry it will ruin the make-up and then we will be late. You know Josh will freak if you are even a second late!"
"Your right!" Honor giggled as she thought about the man she was about to marry. "He knows this schedule and he was already freaking out at the rehearsal last night!"
"He just knows how lucky he is that you said yes," Rory stated.
"I know that I say he is lucky I ever looked at him but… I am luck that he was ever interested in me," the blonde stated as she gave Rory a wistful smile. "You know everything with dad and Shira, so I never expected someone to ever see me as anyone other than the Huntzberger's daughter," pausing she gripped Rory's arm. "I was so excited when I found Josh but I always worried about Logan. When he met you… he talked about you in passing but it was the first time that he ever really talked about a girl. Then when you two started dating I held out hope that the two of you could be real and seeing the two of you grow together. I can't wait for you to officially be my sister."
"I can't wait for that either," Rory breathed out as she tried to control her own tears. Both girls just looked at each other for a long moment, both lost in their own thoughts. Luckily before either started crying the wedding planner knocked on the door bringing them both back to the present moment.
"Are you ready?" the older woman asked as she studied the two girls. She had gotten to know them both as they planned the wedding and she had never met two more down to earth society women. There were rumors that Rory Gilmore-Hayden and Logan Huntzberger would soon be walking down the aisle and after seeing the two of them together more she had to agree with that assessment. And after planning as many weddings as she had over the years, she knew that those two, as well as Honor and Josh, would be able to make it work no matter what life threw at them.
Honor let out a deep breath and a smile that was brighter than the sun graced her face. "I have never been more ready," she answered and then started walking out of the room behind the planner with Rory following.
Logan Huntzberger stood at the alter waiting for the bridal party. It had been a long day and he just hoped the drama was over for the day. After Rory had left, he got ready before he called his father. Mitchum had told him about his confrontation with Shira and both Huntzberger's hoped that she would not attempt anything else that day. They told Josh, and all three men agreed that they wouldn't tell Honor until she and Josh returned from their honeymoon. It was up to Honor on if she wanted to reach out to Shira. Even if Logan and Mitchum were done with the woman, she was Honor's mother, and it might mean something to her that her mother had tried to see her. Logan had his doubts on if Honor would care, the siblings had essentially grown up without parents and he never saw Honor wishing that Shira was helping her plan. She had two unlikely assistants in Emily Gilmore and Francine Hayden, that assisted with any society question and Marge, the wedding planner was an old pro that made sure everything was planned down to the minute. When the music started, he looked up and impatiently waited while three of the bridesmaids walked down the aisle and then his breath caught when he saw Rory. Their eyes locked and it was like everything else stopped for him. When the bridal march started, they pulled their eyes apart and he had to smile when he watched his sister and father walk down the aisle. Honor briefly met his gaze but then locked eyes with Josh and it seemed like they forgot about everyone else. The ceremony went through it a blur as he watched the love of his life who had tears in her eyes. For him he could see their day, the day when they linked hands and said their vows to each other and all of their friends and families. From the look on her face, he knew that she was thinking the same thing and that made his smile even brighter. His attention was forced back to the ceremony when he heard the vows being said and a large smile crossed his face as he watched his sister kiss her husband for the first time. He never would have ever imagined this day, a day when both of the Huntzberger siblings were madly in love and truly happy.
The bride and groom broke apart from their kiss and had goofy grins on their faces and the audience cheered for the new couple. They made their way down the aisle and then as soon as they made it out of the church all eyes turned back to the front to watch Rory and Logan as they linked hands and made their way down the aisle. It wasn't lost on the people in attendance that they were getting a glimpse of the future of this couple.
Pictures passed in a blur, with the wedding party enjoying champagne between the shots. There were so many taken of the group, some of Honor, Josh, and their families (which included Rory). It was a lively group and by the time they made their way to the reception they were in high spirits. Soon is was time for the speeches and Logan stood, but grabbed Rory's hand to stand with him, which caught the brunette off guard.
"Honor and I have always had a difference of opinions when it came to love and marriage. I always thought my sister was to much of a romantic and her expectations were so high that no man would ever be able to meet all her requirements, but then Josh came along. Even after seeing them together I never understood how they fit, seemed so in love, until I met Rory. It was then I started seeing the things about how they complimented each other, how they looked at each other and how they seemed to never be able to be without the other for extended periods of time. While I still picked on Honor about this, after all what kind of baby brother would I be if I didn't? I started to see what I wanted in a relationship and when Honor and Rory met… well they were pretty much sisters from the first moment! I want to thank you Honor for showing me what love is, for welcoming the love of my life into yours and for being the best sister anyone could ever ask for. I love you big sis and I am so happy that you have started your happily ever after."
There were smiles and tears among those gathered at Logan's words. Honor quickly stood and embraced her brother and Rory tried to step back but was stopped by Honor when she pulled Rory into the hug as well. When the three broke apart there were watery smiles but love reflected in their eyes.
The rest of the reception passed without a single hitch. Logan danced with Honor, Rory, Emily and Francine and Rory danced with it seemed like everyone. Mitchum, Richard, Elias, Edward, Christopher, Colin and Finn all claimed dances and while Rory danced with them Logan was alone to fend off the unwanted female attention. A part of him wanted her beside him but the other part enjoyed watching her with these men that had all played a part in who she was and who they were together.
"Picturing a different wedding?" Honor's voice came from behind him and he turned to hug his sister.
"Maybe," he answered with a soft smirk.
"I think everyone was picturing a different wedding at different times today," she retorted with a sly smile.
Logan let out sigh and shook his head slightly, "I'm sorry Hon… the last thing Rory and I wanted was to take away from your day…"
"Nonsense!" Honor exclaimed. "You guys have taken away nothing and I have to admit that I pictured your wedding a few times today as well. Like when Rory was helping me get ready, I saw me helping her, or when you two were dancing…" she paused for a moment and looked at him questioningly. "Any idea when that ring might be leaving your sock drawer?"
"I had a few ideas," he answered as he looked back over at Rory who was now dancing with Finn. "I think I might wait until May 6th." Honor looked at him questioning and he chuckled. "That was the night that I realized how much I cared about her. When she told me about what happened at that internship… it was the first time that I ever wanted to truly fight dad about something. That was the night that I realized that I was falling in love with her. I think I was already there but that night… I actually started to acknowledge it to myself."
His words brought tears to Honor's eyes yet again and she had to lightly hit him to break the moment. "I have cried enough today," she pouted. "You can't say sweet things like that and not make me cry even more!"
"Sorry Hon," he chuckled. "You asked."
"So can I ask what you did to make Honor hit you at her wedding?" Mitchum asked from behind the sibling. He had watched them for a few minutes and knew they were talking about something serious.
"I made her cry," Logan responded with a laugh.
"Ugh," Honor groaned as she looked at the two men. "I think I need to find my husband," she paused, a large smile crossing her face, "I love saying that word! I think I need to find my husband," she repeated with a sigh, "so that we can have some sugary sweet moments." Not giving either man a chance to respond she squeezed Logan's arm one more time and flounced off leaving both men chuckling.
When Honor was out of sight Mitchum turned and focused on Logan, giving him a questioning look. Logan sighed and knew that he wouldn't get out of explaining the conversation. "Honor asked when I planned on proposing and I told her May 6th, the day I realized that I was falling in love with Rory," when Mitchum just raised his eyebrow Logan shrugged and continued. "It was when she told me about the internship. I was so mad at you, I wanted to confront you immediately, but she begged me not to, she didn't want to make our relationship worse than it already was. I was shocked at myself, at the feeling I had that I needed to protect her and after I thought about that night more… that was the night that I knew I was falling but it took me a while longer until I finally admitted it to myself."
Mitchum sighed as that horrid internship was brought up again. No matter how many times everyone insisted they had moved past it, no matter how many times he apologized, he still felt guilt for what he had done. "Logan I am sorry..."
"Don't be," Logan stated cutting him off. "In a way your review brought Rory and I closer and in a way you forced her to accept the Hayden dynasty."
"So, you did know she was a Hayden before the announcement!" Mitchum exclaimed as he gave his son a pointed look.
"Busted," Logan chuckled with a shrug. "But I didn't know about her being a Hayden until that night. If I would have told you… well not much would have changed."
"Your right," Mitchum chuckled. His son was right, by the time Logan found out about the Hayden connection the damage had been done and the resulting fallout would have happened one way of another. "We deserved how everything went down," he relented. "If it had happened any other way, I don't think we would have been forced to realize and admit how wrong we all were. And you and Rory… well you two a perfect for one another."
Logan glanced over and the brunette who was now being led to the bar by Finn and Colin. "I couldn't agree with you more."
