Alysanne III.
289
(Alysanne Stark is seven years old.)
Aly Stark was not stupid, far from it actually. For being a seven year old she was a very smart girl. She knew that Catelyn Stark hated her with burning passion, she also knew that her mother had loved her very much before a fever took her a couple moons ago. She also knew that her uncle Ned was the best, if a little naive sometimes.
Aly Stark also harbored a secret - she was one hundred percent sure that she had lived a past life. She could remember with excruciating detail how she had looked and what she had done, and the fact that Westeros had been an imaginary land that had been created by a man named George. Who she had been was not important, she was Aly Stark now, Lady of Winterfell, Lady Paramount of the North, and uncle Ned was her regent.
"Again, Lady Aly," said Maege Mormont, Aly sighed and lifted her sword again to charge at the woman.
Maege was quick for someone her age, and Alysanne loved their training sessions, she had begged her uncle Ned for someone to train her and since Ser Rodrick had been sent to Moat Cailin to train Robb, she had requested someone to train her too.
Aly managed to hit Maege's sword a couple of times but the bear lady soon had her on the ground again. Aly heard laughter and looked up to see Jon standing next to Jory. She stood carefully, brushing snow from her clothes.
"You are getting better, Lady Aly," said Jory, she smiled at him.
"I would hope so, though I'm sure Lady Maege enjoys having me eat dirt," she said smiling at the older woman."
Maege smiled. "There is hope for you yet, Lady Aly."
"How about Jon? How are his lessons coming?" Aly asked, Jory smiled and patted Jon's head.
"Better now that the Southern craven is not breathing down his neck," Jory said, Aly covered her mouth with her hand to stifle a laugh.
"That's not nice Jory, she could have been your Lady Stark," Aly said with a smirk, Jory just laughed. They had a fantastic time.
Sure Aly and Jon missed Robb and Sansa, but Lady Catelyn had always been a thorn in their sides, and when Benjen had announced that Moat Cailin was ready, Uncle Ned had seen fit to move his family to the fortress. Aly had pleaded with him to leave Jon with her, as Catelyn hated Jon as much as she hated Aly. Ned had relented.
"Lady Aly! Lord Ned is asking for you," called Old Nan from a balcony.
Aly looked up and smiled at the old woman. "In the solar?" She asked.
Old Nan nodded.
"Our training has been cut short," Aly said, handing the wooden sword to Marge.
The bear lady smiled at her. "So it seems, Lady Aly."
Aly walked to her solar followed by Jory and Jon, Uncle Ned was there with Maester Luwyn, they had a parchment and grim looks on their faces.
"Is there something wrong?" She asked.
"The Ironborn have rebelled. The King is calling us to war," Uncle Ned said.
Aly nodded. "Have they attacked the North yet?"
"No, they seem to be focusing on the Westerlands," Maester Luwyn said.
Aly nodded again and looked at the map that was on her table. "Call the banners, it's time to test out our Western Fleet. Tell the Manderly's that they'll have to make use of the Fever river. The Neck can hold its own, but Lord Dustin has to leave someone in command of the Barrows and the Rills. Our fleets will meet in Blazewater bay and we will board in Saltspear."
"All the banners?" Asked the Maester, Aly looked at her uncle for guidance.
"Yes, go in haste, we must plan," said Ned.
"Send for Cousin Rodrick too, we will need another Stark in Winterfell," she said, Luwyn nodded.
Barrow Hall, The North.
"Lady Aly, look how much you've grown," said Willam Dustin as Aly got off her horse, Maege at her side as Jory had stayed in Winterfell with Jon and Rodrick.
She went and hugged Lord Willam, beaming up at him, "Lord Willam, how are the children?"
"They are fantastic, Willem is starting his training once I return from this, and little Lyenne is now running," he said happily, Aly smiled at the odd yet endearing Lord.
"That is wonderful Lord Willam, and the horses?"
"Growing stronger every day, Lady Aly," he promised as they walked inside the keep. The other lords were already waiting for them and Aly took her seat between Uncle Ned and Lord Willam before addressing her Lords.
"The Ironborn decided that they would rebel and pillage our lands. As vassals of King Robert we must aid our neighbors and we shall! We will show the Ironborn what happens when you mess with the North and its allies," she said, the Lords nodded.
"What are our orders, Lady Aly?" Asked Lord Umber, she smiled at him.
"Winter is coming for the squids. No mercy on them as they would have none on us, our lands, our women, or our children," she said, and glanced at her Uncle Ned who nodded slightly, she then smiled at the lords. "FOR THE NORTH!"
"FOR THE NORTH!" The men chorused.
They were ready to depart the next morning. Aly knew that her uncle Ned felt conflicted at having her on a ship, but she reasoned that if her men went to war she should be with them. Aly was to be aboard Winter Storm with Lord Wyman Manderly, Lady Maege, Lord Willam, Lord Glover and her guards. Her fleet was to take Harlaw and Blacktyde. Her Uncle Ned was aboard Snowden and he would be wielding Ice in her name.
Aly stepped foot in Ironborn soil when her men had Harlaw, she was received by Lord Roose and Lord Karkstark, who led her into the keep with her party. Lord Harlaw welcomed them and surrendered the keep to them, Aly didn't stay long in Harlaw and commanded her forces to capture Blacktyde and Orkmont, before moving to Old Wyk where they found Ser Barristan Selmy already attacking. The North joined the attacks and subdued Old Wyk.
Aly then commanded her might to Pyke, where Uncle Ned was already waiting with the other half of her fleet, upon reaching Pyke she was received by Jaime Lannister and Jorah Mormont.
"Lady Aly, you could make it," said Jorah as a form of greeting, Aly smiled at the man.
"Of course Jorah, we stopped by Old Wyk just in time to aid Ser Barristan," she said then looked at Ser Jaime, he was handsome, she had to give him that, "Ser Jaime?"
"Aye, you must be Lady Stark, I presume."
"Yes, has Uncle Ned arrived?"
"Yes Lady Stark, he's with his grace in the tent," answered Jorah, Aly nodded.
She walked with her party to where the tents were established, Lord Umber was the first to notice her.
"Lady Aly! Shouldn't you be on a ship?" He asked, she smirked at the Lord.
"It was getting boring Lord Greatjon, I'm looking for uncle Ned," she said, the Greatjon looked nervous, but pointed towards the slightly bigger tent.
Aly did her best not to skip towards the tent, two guards were standing outside and looked at her funny.
"This is no place for a child," said one of them, she raised an eyebrow.
"Tell the king that Lady Aly Stark is here to see him," she said and the men straightened immediately.
"Of course my lady," one of them said before walking into the tent.
She was led in a moment later, uncle Ned and King Robert were standing next to a map looking at her with several degrees of concern.
"Your Grace, Uncle Ned," she greeted curtsying, she was not wearing a dress but rather northern leathers and breeches.
"Lady Aly, we were not expecting you to reach Pyke so quickly," said the King, Aly smiled at him.
"I have a really good group of men, Your Grace, Harlaw, Orkmont, Blacktyde and Old Wyk are under Northern command awaiting orders, Lord Harlaw would be a fit man to rule should you deem it so," she said casually, Uncle Ned and the King exchanged glances.
"Have you been partaking in the battles?" Asked Uncle Ned carefully, Aly shook her head.
"Lady Maege is very scary, but I've been one step behind my men at all times, and I passed sentence in Old Wyk, Ser Barristan was there," she said innocently, both men gaped.
"That is really good Lady Aly, the crown recognizes the effort of the North," said King Robert, she beamed at him and walked up to the map, it was a map of Pyke.
Violet eyes examined the map in front of her and then she looked at the King and her Uncle, "I think we should try to end with this generation of Squids, Lord Greyjoy has a younger son and a daughter that could be this place's redemption."
"Kill Balon?" Asked King Robert, Aly nodded.
"And his elder sons, according to what I know Quellon Greyjoy had a view of what he wanted for the Iron Islands and it was good. Now Balon is filth, so are Victarion and Euron, we must rid the world of them," she explained.
King Robert had a pensive look on his face. "Jon said not to kill Greyjoy if there is no need to," he said.
Ally's eyes snapped to his. "Lord Arryn does not live on this coast. We do. Leaving them alive only endangers my people and Lord Tywin's. You are the King, give the word and my men will bring that castle down. Give the word and Lord Tywin will kill Euron and Victarion. Listen to feeble warnings and we will have another rebellion, your grace," she said.
Robert looked at uncle Ned, then at Ally, then laughed. "Ned, what are you doing to children in the North?" He asked and for a moment Aly thought that he would not comply, but King Robert smiled at her. "Go tell Lord Tywin yourself, Little Wolf, and let's bring these squids to the sword."
Aly beamed at him before skipping out of the tent.
She found Ser Jaime Lannister leaning against a tent and approached him, she knew that Maege and Willam were watching her, so she was okay.
"Ser Jaime, could you direct me to your father's tent?" She asked, Ser Jaime looked down at her, a smirk on his face.
"What business would you have with my father, Lady Stark?" He asked, she smirked.
"The King said that we would bring the squids to the sword, we have permission to kill them all," she said happily, Ser Jaime's eyebrows went up in surprise.
"And who convinced the King of this? Last I heard the hand gave explicit orders to not kill squids," Ser Jaime said, Aly just kept on smirking.
"I did Ser Jaime. Communication is key," she said, Ser Jaime chuckled.
"Of course you did Lady Stark, come on in, then, I'm sure father will like the news," he said opening the tent flap, Aly looked back at Maege and nodded before walking in.
"Father, Lady Alysanne Stark wishes to speak with you," Ser Jaime announced, Tywin looked up from a parchment he was reading and Aly smiled at him, and to think this man could become her enemy in a couple of years.
"Welcome, Lady Stark," Tywin said and motioned for her to sit in one of the chairs, she had to jump a bit as she was still a little small but once she was seated she looked at Tywin.
"Thank you, Lord Lannister."
"What brings you here, Lady Stark?"
"The King has given permission to kill every Greyjoy save for the youngest two, specifically to kill Victarion and Euron. Should you have ships ready to do so, it would be prudent for you to engage," she said, Lord Tywin blinked twice, then blinked again.
"Indeed," he said softly, then looked at Ser Jaime, "Orders to Kevan, now," he said and Ser Jaime bowed before leaving in a haste, Tywin then looked at the young Lady, "I do not think it would be prudent to offer you wine Lady Stark, how old are you again?" He asked, Aly smiled.
"I'm seven, Lord Lannister"
"And you are at a war camp?"
"If my men are giving up their lives for me, the least I can do is be with them," she said, Tywin nodded.
"Honorable," he said, she nodded.
"I fear that I must go now, Lady Maege will not like me disappearing for too long," she said, Tywin nodded and stood from his chair.
He walked Aly outside and returned her to Lady Maege and Lord Willam. When the actual siege began Ser Jaime was ordered to stay behind and protect her with her clique. So she had Lady Maege, Lord Willam, Lord Ethan and Ser Jaime with her, while the men fought. While they fought Aly noticed something or rather someone escaping and cursed, she spurred the horse that she had been given and gave chase, Ser Jaime close behind her.
"My Lady are you out of your mind?" Ser Jaime asked as they chased Euron Greyjoy.
"No, but he can't escape, I won't let him, besides, Maege is coming, if I survive this, she won't kill me," she said with a laugh.
"Are you even armed?" Ser Jaime asked and Aly unsheathed her small sword, it was fine and perfect for her size.
"Always Ser Jaime, now that son of a bitch can't escape," and with that she spurred her horse again, gaining more speed.
Aly had one thing on her mind, kill the bastard, kill him, if she had had a bow she could have shot him, probably, but she needed to get close to Euron, perhaps too close, and she could die. She could die, but Euron would die too.
"Come on!" She screamed as her horse went faster, she held her sword steadily and ran past Euron, her sword clanked against his and she swore as she turned her horse and charged again.
"They bring children to battles now?" Mocked Euron.
"No, but-" in soviet Russia. "-In the North the child brings the battle to you." She swung her sword again, this time she managed to wound his arm and she smirked while he looked surprised. She took that moment to unsheathe her dagger and throw it at his head and hit him right between the eyes. The mad man looked surprised right before Ser Jaime caught up to them and sliced him with his sword.
"Lady Stark, what were you thinking when-," he noticed the dagger embedded in Euron's head and looked at Aly.
"Can I have that back, we can say that you killed him," she said innocently, but Maege had already caught up to them.
"Young Lady, you are in deep trouble, scaring me like that," the She-Bear said, Aly pouted.
"But he's dead Lady Maege, I threw the dagger just like you taught me to and Ser Jaime finished him," she said, Maege looked at Euron's corpse, then at Aly.
"You are unhurt?" She asked, Aly nodded.
"I am too fast," Aly said proudly, Maege looked resigned and then looked at Willam who had reached them.
"You are telling Ned about this," she said, then looked at Aly. "Retrieve your dagger and clean it. It is a good one."
"Yes, Lady Maege," Aly said, sheathing her sword and getting off her horse. Ser Jaime handed her the dagger and she smiled at him. "Thank you Ser Jaime."
"You are most welcome, Lady Stark," he said, amusement clear in his voice. Aly nodded and got back on her horse, Ser Jaime followed suit and they returned to their watching place, although this time Maege took the reins of Aly's horse.
Once Pyke had been taken Aly was invited inside. Her horse pulled Euron's body past the threshold and a guard placed it in front of Balon.
"Where did you find him?" Asked King Robert eyeing the body.
"Lady Aly saw him escaping and gave chase," said Lord Willam, Uncle Ned looked at Aly, as did Lord Tywin and the King.
"And then?" Asked Uncle Ned in his I-am-three-seconds-away-from-a-headache voice.
"Lady Aly killed him, she threw a dagger to his head, and Ser Jaime sliced him in two just in case," Lord Willam said, uncle Ned pinched the bridge of his nose.
"Aly," he said mortified, Aly started pouting.
"He was a really evil man, Uncle Ned," she said crossing her arms, many lords found the little lady scary yet oddly charming.
Uncle Ned stood next to her until King Robert finished passing sentence, Victarion had been killed by Kevan Lannister, and now only Asha and Theon remained, Lord Harlaw was to be Asha's regent until she was sixteen and Theon would become Uncle Ned's ward at Moat Cailin.
Afterwards they went to Lannisport where a tourney was held in honor of the victory. Aly attended the celebrations with Lord Wyman and Lady Maege as the rest of the Northern fleet returned home.
The joust was won by Ser Jaime Lannister, who gave the crown to Aly for her killing of Euron Greyjoy. She wore her crown of red and yellow roses proudly. Jorah, who came in second place, asked for the hand of Lynesse Hightower, but was denied; he joined the Night's Watch soon after returning North, leaving Maege as Lady of Bear Island.
Aly returned North with a smile on her face and a crown on her head. Uncle Ned was at Winterfell when she arrived and she showed him the crown that Jaime Lannister had given her, she told him that the King had laughed and drank merrily as he heard Ser Jaime recounting her deed.
