Reclaimer: I don't own RWBY nor Roosterteeth (If I did, Pyrrha would still be alive)
Prologue
Its been a thousand years since the Grimms have been defeated and peace was restored through all of Remnant, it took a while but little by little humans and faunus were able to stand on their own feet after the massive war. No one in this day and age has any concrete idea of what happened in that dark era only theories, all we have are old books and ancient records, each varying a bit on the way the battle goes but they all have the same theme and ending. A huge final confrontation between the forces of light and dark happened.
Light triumphed and Dark fell. After hundreds of years, humans and faunus learned to coexist together even if there are a few slips here and there. With so much time it has passed and with how much we evolved so did our technology. Our world was no longer Remnant, it was Earth.
With time dust becomes scarce and rare now costing thousands for a simple crystal that hundreds of years ago would be a couple of Liens, without Dust humanity needed another resource. And they found it in coals, fuel, oils, and many other materials. It was rapidly mass-produced, and civilization swiftly progressed towards uncharted places like space or created new types of weapons. Aura being forgotten with time, only high-ranking people in the government knowing its full potential and dangers. Deeming it too dangerous for times of peace they did everything they could to destroy any records of Aura.
And this time and age is the one I currently live on. My name is Jaune Arc, 25 years old, Software Engineer and Game developer, rich, live in Vale, and single. Yeah, laugh all you want about that last one I don't care, nothing you say will be any different than the teasing I get from my friends and family. Even if most of my friends are also not dating, I just don't get why they seem to tease me so much about it.
To understand a bit better, let me tell you a brief story of my life.
Let's see, I was born in a family with seven sisters being the only boy and you can imagine the kinds of hell I had to face against them. But I wouldn't trade any of them for the world. Other than that, nothing really interesting happened until I was nine.
At that age I changed schools in the middle of the year and was the new kid of the class that knows no one, all groups were already formed and I didn't really know how to approach people (Still don't). Thankfully I didn't have to, a bubbly orange headed girl immediately stroke up a conversation with me about pancakes and sloths followed by a black-haired with one pink tip calm looking boy giving me an apologetic smile, behind them was a red-haired girl giving me a gentle but frightened smile who softly welcome me to the school.
I later learned those were Nora Valkyrie, Ren Lie, and Pyrrha Nikos. We all became great friends in no time. And I learned that the reason why Pyrrha seemed so scared of me when we met was that her parents are really famous and people wanted to be her friends for fame, I didn't really care so I just told her no matter what happens she will always be Pyrrha for me, she seemed much better after that.
It was also kind of funny how even with the contrast between Ren, who was always calm, and Nora, who looked like she had a daily dose of caffeine inject in her veins all the time, they were completely in love with each other but insisted they weren't 'Together-Together'. When I asked Pyrrha if she liked someone she would always blush and have this dream-like gaze while looking at me...
Strange huh?
Anyway, that was our little group of friends I always did everything with until about seventh-grade elementary school where I saw a young girl getting bullied in a class by three kids, it wasn't anything major just some name-calling and hair-pulling but having four younger sisters tends to make you a bit protective of people you know?
I always had this hero complex, that no matter how bad the situation is if someone needs help, I will help, my friends and family often reprimand me for caring more about everyone I meet than I care about myself. But I just can't help it, it's something primal inside of me that cannot go silenced, and yup you guessed it. Thanks to my hero complex I immediately went to help the girl.
That was the first fight I ever had and at that moment I started appreciating heroes who go through much more pain than this. I am serious, being kicked in the legs hurts like you wouldn't believe when you don't expect it. But anyway, tumbled a bit with the kids and after getting a few lucky shots they all went running crying for mommy. I was honestly not that far from breaking into crying myself so I can't say anything.
When I turned to see if the girl was alright she smashed right into my stomach while crying making me fall on my back and having the wind knocked out of my lungs. I got over it quickly and tried to comfort her, thankfully having little sisters gave me the advantage of knowing what to do. And after a few head pats and sweet words, she was fine. She smiled at me and introduced herself.
Her name was Ruby Rose, my future best friend. She has black short hair with the tips ending in a beautiful red, she was quite petite, and even now is, wearing a black arm long shirt with a black and red skirt. At the time I thought it was quite cute.
We quickly became good friends over our mutual social awkwardness around new people, we parted ways and promised to see each other at lunch, she asked me to go sit at her table with her other friends, me being happy to make new friends agreed and politely asked if I could also take my other friends, she responded with a beaming smile.
My friends were happy to come with me and eat with other people, maybe make some new friends, who knows? When we entered the cafeteria Ruby immediately began waving her hands calling for me, I don't think she thought much about it cause it attracted attention from everyone in the cafeteria, it was really cute the way she blushed at the stares and lowered her head embarrassingly, I was a little flush myself, my friends the traitors had the gall to quietly laugh at me before we went to their table.
There were other three girls there, one with long fiery blond hair reaching her waist who was giving us a wide grin, her whole being radiated confidence, then there was a black-haired girl with a ribbon resembling cat ears and mysterious aura around her, she was nose deep on a book and barely glanced at us before going back to her book, and finally, there was an angelic girl with snow like hair and had a haughty attitude, who was currently analyzing us if we were worthy of being on her general vicinity.
After introductions, I learned the confident blond girl's name was Yang Xiao-Long, the mysterious beauty was Blake Belladonna, and the snow angel was Weiss Schnee. I was shocked that Yang and Ruby were sisters, but after hearing how her mother left the family I stopped asking. It took a while to get used to their personalities but before any of us knew it our two groups of four turned into one big group of eight.
Back then I didn't know, but with time these friends would one day be the most precious thing to me.
As the years go by we all did elementary together and even went to the same High school, and at that time was when I started to become a true family with my friends, first helping Raven and Yang with their Mother and Daughter problem. For Ruby and Yang who lived on Patch, it would be quite the ride to go to Beacon in Vale. That was when Raven, who was living in Vale, appeared and wished to make amends to the rest of her family. Yang of course just scoffed and was angry for the whole of two weeks, but they didn't have many options, so with a heavy heart Yang and Ruby started living with Raven. I was also going to Beacon but with me not wanting to burden my parents, I didn't really have any place to stay in Vale. Ruby, the ever caring girl, invited me to stay at their house, which after some persuading from both Yang and Ruby I accepted, Raven only said not to peek on her while showering and we would be okay.
Of course, after three months of living in the tense atmosphere of the house, I couldn't take it anymore and made a plan for Raven and Yang to talk things out between themselves. It was a bit tricky with lots of yelling and cursing but in the end, they both cried their hearts out and forgave each other for all the bad things they said and done previously. And I got to meet her dad, Taiyang Xiao-Long, and Ruby's mom, Summer Rose. They were pretty nice people
At that point, Yang and I were the Blonder Hood...
Goddammit that woman infected me with her horrible puns
Blake was harder to completely befriend, at her exterior she seems cold and indifferent to everything, but I could see that inside she was just as soft and cared just as much to all of us, yet was afraid to show it. Something was hurting her, and she didn't want to disclose it to us, after the continuous effort on our group's part to help we finally discovered that Blake was a cat faunus and was frightened of what our response would be, she ran away. It took a good portion of two days to find her in Vale, but when I did, I hugged her until she gave up on running away. She asked why I would go so far for someone I barely knew as the two of us almost never talked with each other. It didn't matter, she was my friend, one of my precious people and I would forever stay by her side. She looked shocked then resigned and gave me a small smile while calling me an idiot! Meanie. Anyway, after that we met up with our friends, I could quite literally feel her tremble in anxiety when they saw us.
Stupid cat. We didn't have any problems with it, on the contrary, most of our group quite liked them. She was stunned before breaking into happy tears, I even embarrassingly said it looked adorable on her. It was nice seeing her show emotions like embarrassment even if I felt mortified at the time. She was much more open towards us all from that day forward, not quite a social person but much better than before.
Then there was Weiss's problem with her brother, father, and mother... Yeah her family was a mess. The only family member she has a connection with is Winter her older sister, her father was a workaholic who didn't give time to his children, and though raising a child was throwing money at tutors to teach his kids. Her mother was so depressed she tried drinking alcohol to forget about it and that led to drinking whenever she could. Her Brother was the easiest to help Weiss and Winter connect to, after some pointers from me I managed to convince those three to make amends and they started acting like real siblings, after that I had some conversations with their Mother, Willow, and I made her see the good side of living this life, the things that can drive her to keep on living a happy life. Her children.
After that, I tried to help them deal with the father but all four of them did not allow me to. They said I helped enough, and it was their turn to rebuild this family.
It wasn't long before I heard the news that Weiss's parents got divorced. Our group got slightly unease thinking Weiss was sad but to the group's surprise, she was unaffected stating that she was never close to her father. Everyone accepted and moved on, from then on, she was more vibrant than usual, but she was still the same Ice Queen we knew and loved.
I noticed that the girls would also try to get close to me for some reason with slightly flushed faces and weird glean in their eyes, for other reasons my instincts told me to act ignorant to it so I did.
After Beacon High School was over, we all separated to go to different Universities and follow our dream carriers' paths but promised to keep in contact with each other and meet up at least once a week. Nora wouldn't let us be alone any longer than that.
Ren and Nora both went to business (Nora's choice did and didn't surprise me for some reason) and became lawyers, Pyrrha went to Martial Art tournaments because she loved the adrenaline and excitement gained from fighting. She forced me to take fighting classes with her, not that I can complain, thanks to that I am half as strong as her and that is saying something.
Yang went for professional weight lifting which I was also forced to do, Ruby is a professional runner in the making preparing for the Olympics, Blake went with a peaceful option and became a librarian which honestly didn't surprise anyone much to her annoyance, and Weiss took over her father fuel business.
Me? I became a game designer, programmer, and developer. I might not be able to do half the stuff my friends do, but there is something I excel and that is programming. If I wanted to with just one word, I can get my super AI to destroy this whole world.
You heard that right I created an AI called Penny, she is a great friend that is also part of our group and our main form of communication, as stated Penny is a super AI, she has access to all of Earths electronics thanks to being at least a hundred years more sophisticated than these AI NASA and other corporations are trying to produce, but most of all. She can LEARN. And I know what you are thinking. Before you say anything, I'll have you know that Penny cannot intrude into any devices without my permission, and I would rather die a thousand times over than invade someone else privacy without a good reason.
And thanks to Penny and my hard work we finally finished this game we have been working on for months without rest, and here it is complete at last. This game story has been in my mind since I was little.
The name of the game? REMNANT. Is an RPG full world interactive game with thousands of side quests and dozens of main quests. The main storyline is about the protagonist going to one of the four Hunter Academies when they are seventeen with their team trying to discover why the dust robberies are occurring more lately before descending into a spiral of epic proportion when they realize that the robberies are just pieces on the board being played by the true mastermind, Salem the queen of the Grimm and the final boss of the main storyline, what makes this game different from others is its bullshit adaptability and power to make quests on the spot because I used Penny as the processor of It. This game learns and adapts to how the player plays an impact on the whole gaming world. Like if he helped the White fang conquer all of humanity. Or maybe found a hidden mission and was sent to kill the two Godbrothers.
The possibilities were endless, and my second most treasured aspect of the game. What was the most treasured? I placed something more important into the game, I placed the data of my friends. Every one Penny made contact with and is okay with being on the game is added to the data and made into NPC with varying strengths (I may or may not have added some bonus bullshit into their characters to make sure they survive on my world). Just people who made an impact on my life are being placed on this game that was my rule. Others were completely random.
After hours of uninterrupted work later to smooth the system and make sure there were no problems, I dropped out of my chair into the floor not even caring about the giggles I knew were coming from within my phone. Penny can laugh all she wants right now after arduous chores I need to nap. Right now, sleep is justice!

Welcome Jaune Arc
...
...
...What?
Authors note here:
So, I just had the sudden feeling to write all I could about this story that was nagging in the back of my head, and guess what? I did.
Nothing much to say, just a bit of world-building of what I think would happen if the Grimm all died. And yes, Jaune Arc is the protagonist of this Fanfic if you don't like it don't read it. If people are questioning why Jaune seems much more connective than in Canon all I have to say is NORMAL WORLD. This is a world where Grimm have already died out and Hunters don't exist, in a world where everyone is normal and Jaune would be above average (The guy with no training could tank a Deathstalker attack no problem). This makes me believe he would be more confident, and with his friends not being these unreachable warriors they were in Canon he can approach them more easily.
At least this is how I see it happening.
See you all next time, Thank you for reading.
