This is it. The moment of truth. Who is going to win this last fight? Who is going to end up becoming Genkai's new student? Will Kuwabara recover from his wounds and injuries?

Here it is now.

Yusuke was panting heavily as he tried to keep himself steady on his feet, but the exhaustion that is now taking over his body doesn't want to give him a chance. It needed rest, but the adrenaline within also wants to keep going, to stop that demon's record for good. Meanwhile, the human hunter, Rando stood there confidently as his scarlet red hair was blown to the side. Master Genkai and Yara were paying their full attention to the fight along with the sky-haired Botan who was, as always concerned about the boy's well being and about the end results of this match. As for Miyuki and Ruby, the water-benders try their best to release Kuwabara from his torturous pain in every way possible.

"So that's Rando." Botan breathed out shakily as her eyes glared at the evil demon figure. Suddenly Kuwabara let out a small grunt as he attempted to move from his position.

"U-Urameshi." The orange-haired boy croaked out loud, making the three spectators turn to him. "Are you ready to fight yet? Cause I'm ready as soon as you are."

"Huh?" The blind old woman hummed questioningly.

"Even when losing consciousness that boy has a one-track of a mind." Genkai commented before her and the other two beside her turns back toward the fight scene.

"Shut up and hold still." The Urameshi girl figure instructed sternly to the injured boy as her watery hands moved their ways toward the broken arm.

'Be brave Yusuke.' Boten mentally prayed. 'At least for Miyuki's and Kuwabara's sake.'

Yusuke was holding up both of his fists, trying to look tough, but his tiredness gets the best of him.

"This is always the hardest part." Rando said before slowly walking up to the exhausted Spirit Detective, threateningly. Yusuke tried to keep it together, but his trembling legs collapsed underneath him, making him fall on one knee. "Choosing what technique to use first, like a drooling boy in the candy store." The redheaded demon stood before Yusuke. "Perhaps you can give me a good suggestion."

"Shut your mouth." Yusuke spat venomously as he lifted up his head and stared at the demon's face with so much hatred and anger. One of his hand balled into a tight fist and then he got up and began to send several punches at Rando's entire being. Face, chest, stomach, and repeat. But unfortunately, Rando didn't even move an inch from his stand. The attacks had no effects on the demon's physical body, like the Spirit Detective was actually punching a boulder. "And here is a kill!" The Urameshi boy shouted as he gave another hit in Rando's face as he stumbled forward. "So there!" The big brother said as he turned back to take a good look at his opponent, only to get a smirk in response. "Oh, crap!"

"Huh, this battle isn't going to last very long if only half of you can still throw a punch." Rando told the boy with honesty.

"What?" Yusuke particularly screamed.

"Those punches had absolutely no spirit power." The read headed human hunter continued on. "You've gone dry." The statement made the young Spirit detective grit his teeth.

"Yusuke. . ." Miyuki let the name roll down her tongue, but she couldn't help but feel the taste of bitterness in it as she helplessly watched her brother fight. She hated just standing by and watch someone she knew or cared for being thrown around or hurt themselves.

"Alright, I just thought of the perfect technique for you." Rando said before lowering himself down a little. His entire body began to release the dark aura as his eyes began to glow brightly. His mouth opened up and soon small and thin hair-like treads began to come out of it, trapping Yusuke completely.

"Well, how pretty." Commented on the Spirit Detective sarcastically.

"What is it?" Botan asked rather scared.

"That is Life-Force-Thread." Genkai began explaining. "An archaic form of materialized spirit energy, no doubt taken from a very ancient psychic." As she finished her sentence the webs stopped moving and Rando grabbed a hold of them. Soon those thin threads shaped into a thick and large like ropes that grabbed each of Yusuke's limbs like tentacles.

"That's no good." The teen was unable to escape from their grasp that soon turned into one big web, capturing the upper half of Yusuke's body. "I can't move." He said in a hoarse voice as the tie around him began to tighten around his figure like a corset. Something that made Rando chuckle out loud in amusement, clearly enjoying himself at the moment.

"Needless to say, I could crush you in an instant, but I'd rather test my techniques." Rando said as he pulled the thread a little. "It's been such a long time." He said as he pulled it, even more, making the threads around Yusuke's body almost squeezing the soul out of him. "This thread is connected to my own energy, and no human efforts can severe it."

"Yeah, I noticed." The Urameshi boy grunted as he attempted to part his arms off of his sides. "It seems kinda boring that way."

"Yes, I shall have to add more excitement." The Human-hunter said with a sinister tone as he started to harshly pull the thread toward himself. Then all of a sudden, Yusuke was flying in the air thanks to Rando and his treads swinging him around like he was a kite or a rag - doll.

Rando laughed maniacally as he slammed the helpless Yusuke around the swamp. On the solid harsh ground or into a dead-dry tree while asking 'how exciting it is' or 'is this still boring him'.

"Goodness." Botan said with a low and sad tone. "Yusuke truly can't keep up this beating much longer." Then the young grim reaper turned to Genkai. "Genkai! You have to do something, Rando is only going to come after you next and maybe Master Yara right after."

"I won't." Genkai replied with a stone face, making Botan look at the old lady incredulously along with Ruby and Miyuki. "As I said before, whoever wins this fight will be the one I teach, and it would be wrong to interfere with the selection."

"My sister is right." Master Yara said.

"But master-!" Ruby interjected but was cut off by the elder Elemental.

"Try to convince all you want kiddo, but she will keep her words either way. Besides, we are getting old now, meaning our powers have to be carried forward, even if they must stay for a while in the hands of the wicked." The blind old lady finished.

"Listen to yourself, both of you!" Botan snapped enraged. "If Rando gets either of your techniques, there's no telling how many people he'll kill with it, innocent lives that you will be responsible for."

"There are things you don't understand." Genkai replied with an emotionless tone.

"Like what?!" Botan asked angrily.

"Progress my child." Master Yara said.

"Yes." Genkai nodded in agreement. "Progress is what must prevail, it's a story that neither I nor Yara can change."

"No, you're wrong." Botan said, almost heartbroken by the scene and the whole situation her detective friends are in. Meanwhile, Rando finished tossing the poor teen around, who had been beaten up pretty badly. There wasn't a spot on Yusuke that wasn't covered with cuts, bruises, or another kind of ugly marks.

"There, you see, it's amazing how indestructible these threads are." Rando said proudly as he looked at his wounded opponent. Then he pulled Yusuke towards one of those small but deep swamp lakes. He hung Yusuke upside down on a three. The teen couldn't do much but glare at the redheaded demon. "So how do you feel?" The human hunter asked while laughing at his weak opponent.

"Why do you keep asking?" Yusuke screamed annoyed. "I'm hanging upside down from a tree, take a guess you freak." The insult just made the Human-hunter laugh.

"Oooh, hostile." The demon mocked an amazed tone. "We're not there yet." Then he put his hands together, three fingers interviewed while the thumbs and index finger touched each other. In that position, Rando began chanting while Yusuke tried to figure out what can that do.

"Why do I get the feeling he's not just doing that to be cute?" The Urameshi boy thought to himself loudly. Then suddenly the water underneath his head began to bubble up, boiling. "Hey, what's cooking?!" Yusuke asked and on cue, a hideous and giant fish jumped out of the water almost chopping down the young Spirit Detective's head if he hadn't dodged it. After the first one went back down more and more shadows started to circle under the water, probably waiting for their meal. "What the hell are those?" The teen boy asked incredulously.

"I brought them from the depths of Spirit World." Rando told him. "They're called Hate Fish."

"Hate Fish?" The young thug boy questioned, baffled by the name and the nasty looking creature.

Rando smirked as he held up a grey demon in his hand that is the size of a doll. "And through another technique, I've created a trainer demon." The redhead demon continued on. "They're controllable and barely fierce. Watch!" With that, he threw that small demon right at Yusuke. Rando's eyes glowed and soon that small demon turned back to its normal size. However, as soon as it got close to the Urameshi boy's face, Rando stopped the trainer demon and make it fall right in the middle of the water where those Hate Fishes began to eat it. Within seconds they were done, leaving nothing but the demon's skeleton. "As you can see, they're very hungry." Stated the demon in delight. "And the demon could defend himself. Imagine if he had been tied up. But enough about that, I want to try a move I learned much more recently." At that he pointed his hand at the male Spirit Detective, shifting it into a gun form. "The Spirit gun." That made everyone look shocked at the Human-Hunter.

"How can he. . . ?" Botan breathed out as her eyes widened in the size of dinner plates.

The tip of Rando's finger began to glow red. Yusuke looked shocked but mostly scared. Miyuki's eyes shake with fear and worry as her jaw dropped to the floor. Rando pulled the trigger in his mind and shot at the nearest tree that exploded into splinters. The teen boy gritted his teeth as his orbs trembled. He felt that small cut in his right cheek.

"That's it!" Rando exclaimed. "That's the look! You have surrendered to you fear.

"That move. . . He must have learned it by simply watching Yusuke preform it just once." Botan concluded.

"It was also several times more deadly." Genkai added. "This creature's adaptability and knowledge of human spirit is incredible."

"It's awful." Ruby commented with fear in her eyes.

"If he does learn my power, he will no doubt take it further than I could even go." Genkai stated.

"The fear, screaming from a victim's eyes." Rando said as he lifted his gun finger at Yusuke. "Increased power is wonderful, but it's the fear that makes me hunt. You have shown me that fear." Then the redheaded criminal's energy began to charge up for another Spirit Gun. "Now die." He fired the bullet and broke the branch that held up the hanging Yusuke, who was now falling right into the water.

"YUSUKE!" Ruby and Botan screamed in fright.

"BROTHER!" Miyuki cried out as she shot up from the ground with eyes filled with horror but still she couldn't do anything besides watching her brother fall into his doom.

I screamed in terror as I saw those ugly fishes bared their razer sharp teeth to me. However, all I could think about is . . . This can't end like this.

'Yusuke Urameshi. Age fourteen, survived by his mom, sister and everybody.' I began to list it all up. 'After going through a big ordeal to get his life back, Yusuke had a brief second chance before he was EATEN BY A FISH! ' The thought of that just made me angry. 'That's right. No heroic death, no fighting evil villains, FISH FOOD! '

I let out a scream of irritation.

"THIS IS DUMB!" With those words, probably my last, leaving my throat I hit the water. The coldness of that dirty water washed over my entire body. I feel the oxygen leaving my lung in small bubbles as I sank deeper and deeper. One of my eyes remained open. The vision was blurry but I was still able to detect those Hate Fishes. 'Hate Fish.' I thought. 'What a stupid name!' But it doesn't matter anymore. I am going to die. Again. 'Okay, here we go again.' I concluded bitterly as I waited for my life to flash before my eyes. Then suddenly something bright hit me and took me.

Well, that was quick.

"Urameshi." A voice called me. Wait, I know that voice. "Hey, I am talking to you!" He screamed with annoyance. I finally opened my eyes and sure enough, I saw. . .

"Kuwabara?" I asked, not believing with my own eyes, How did he get here?

"So, you're giving up already?" Kuwabara asked me with eyes of disapproval and pure disappointment written all over his face. "Awh man, you're such a freaking disgrace. I can't believe I have spent so much time trying to defeat such a coward. Miyuki is probably ashamed to have such a weakling of a brother like yourself."

At the mention of my sister, I couldn't help but glare at that stupid punk.

"Now get up there and fight!" Kuwabara ordered me.

"But I can't even move." I said as I pointed at my whole being that is tied up and all, but looks like Kuwabara was taking none of that.

"Lame excuse!" Kuwabara snapped as he pointed one finger at me. "You're only stuck because you can't see your own energy. You idiot!"

"Hey, watch it!" I told him angrily. He just sounds like my little sister now.

"Go ahead and die with your tail between your legs." The ugly idiot encouraged me mockingly. " Maybe they'll make me the new Spirit Detective partner for Miyuki because unlike you I am not such a wuss." Then I hear the stupid laugh at my suffering pissing me off even more. How dare he call me that?!

"NO WAY!" I screamed, not caring about the water around me. That punk is going to get it now. Suddenly the monstrous fishes began to swim towards me. I need to get out of these ties. "Dumb Kuwabara!" I commented angrily as I parted my legs and arms with all the force I have. He won't take my job away, because it's mine, they asked me, not him. And he definitely wont het to my sister, because I am the only one who can protect her!

This is my job to protect her in the first place.

This is my job only.

My job.

MY JOB!

"THIS IS MY JOOOB!"

An explosion blue right erupted from the lake. I see those water-monsters' parts flying everywhere around that area in chucks. How could this be?

"That's Yusuke's energy. . ." Botan railed off, shocked while Genkai and Yara shared a small laugh and nod.

I hear Kazuma grunt as Ruby placed a hand on his forehead.

"All he needed was a good. . . Insult. . ." He croaked out before falling back to unconsciousness.

Now it makes sense why his soul went after Yusuke. I let out a small mental chuckle of amusement at this because this is so him. And knowing my brother, he is such a big baby when it comes to insults. Always losing his temper and either punch something or throw a fit over it.

"So much of that spirit power couldn't have come from that boy." Rando breathed in disbelief but he also sounded someone just insulted him. "His crippled friend must have transferred the last of his energy to him. Oh well, It matters not, just more time to practice my favourite techniques." He said as he looked at the lake but more warily this time. "Thought, I still like the idea of killing you with your own attack!" He pointed his finger gun at the water as the energy around it's tip began to gather around into a small red and shiny orb. "Now come out!" He screamed irritatedly.

"Yusuke, you will have to breath soon. . . " I hear Botan say under her breath. She is right, he had been down there way too long.

Suddenly bubbles appeared on one spot of the water's surface, making Rando shoot at that spot.

"Funny thing about swamps!" Yusuke's voice suddenly rang in the area, but my eyes didn't find him anywhere. Is he still under water? My answer soon jumped out of another pond that was right behind Rando. "They're just always connected to another one!" He said as he pointed his finger gun at Rando.

"Don't talk and just shoot!" I cried out with annoyance. How can he be that stupid after all of this! I thought this would make him finally wake him up.

"And as for my Spirit Gun technique, you're doing it all wrong!" Yusuke grunted angrily as I see his energy rising.

"Does he have enough strength?" Botan asked while I just watched. Rando spun around and charged his own deadly Spirit Gun at my brother.

"You're holding too much back!" Yusuke said before shouting his weapon's name. "SPIRIT GUN!" He shot the blue bullet while Rando shot his red one. Their energies wen back and forth, however Yusuke's bullet went through Rando's like a ghost through a wall and hit the demon right in the middle of his chest, sending him fly right into the muddy water. Yusuke landed on his feet, but he quickly dropped down to his knees, holding his right wrist.

"Good shot!" Botan cheered as I let out a sigh of relief.

"Do you still think my sister is a fool for not taking him out of the fight?" Master Yara asked as she and her sister shared a small laughter.

However, that small victory was cut short by the sound of water boiling.

"Give me a break!" Yusuke complained tiredly. Oh no. The water steamed as Yusuke got to his feet with all the strength that was left in his body. The water then disappeared into a big cloud of steam.

"You have caused me pain." I hear Rando say and by the tone, he was furious. "I don't like that." Then he suddenly jumped up into my view and began to punch and kick Yusuke who didn't have the time, nor the energy to block or dodge them. My brother fell flat on his back, completely defeated by his exhaustion while Rando walked up to his side with and scowl.

"Well, this boy's attack injured me more than I thought," The demon said angrily. "I barely have the energy to destroy him."

"Even though It looks like I can't move right now, I'm very dangerous." Yusuke breathed out in a hoarse voice, his eyes closed and limbs motionless.

"There's no point in either of us bluffing now." Rando scoffed. "Both of our bodies are exhausted and our spirits are weak. But I'll still succeed because I can reduce your body and crush your puny bones like I did with your ridiculous friend."

I got into a stance.

"We've already suffered from Kuwabara, I can't bear to watch it again." Botan said with a heart breaking voice. My hands balled into fists as Rando began chanting again.

"GET UP!" I shouted at Yusuke, but his body remained on the floor. This is no use. . .

The chant reached it's end and I held my breath. If Yusuke is going to end up dying. . . I am going to kill Rando myself. I don't care. I won't let him hurt my idiot.

"Soon the world will be a much bigger place for you and you will be afraid. I will make certain of that, even if it means ripping apart of your finger one by one. " Rando laughed confidently, however, I feel my lips curl up as my eyes noticed how that bastard of a demon began to shrink.

"It's not right. . . " Rando breathed out as his frame became smaller and smaller. The look of terror and disbelief made me want to laugh. "How have I been the one to shrink?" Genkai, Yara, Ruby Botan and I walked over to the tiny demon.

"You're the slave of your own technique." Genkai told him.

"Yes, but how?" Botan asked, puzzled.

"It is physical law that the balance of matter created by that technique must be relieved. " Genkai began explaining before Yara took over.

"If there's no victim then the user goes boom!" The blind woman finished, making Rando growl out in frustration and anger.

"Are you all blind?" Rando shouted. "That boy was clearly my victim!"

"Yes, but his body must know that." Genkai pointed out. "As with any spoken chant, the victim is effected only by hearing. In that way, it enters the brain and reprograms the cells."

"So in other words, you can only prevent this by covering your ears." I concluded, earning a nod from Master Yara.

"Correct." Yara confirmed.

"If I didn't know it, then how could he?" Rando growled as he pointed at my brother. I furrow my eyebrow at that and kneeled down beside Yusuke to take a better look.

That's when I saw something in his ears. Something green.

I covered my mouth with my hand, but a tiny snort slipped through my lips.

"What is it?" Ruby asked me with a raised eyebrow. I just shook my head and pointed at my brother who just happened to sit up.

"Are you okay?" Botan asked him. He didn't reply right away, but looking at his surprised expression I bit my lip. That idiot is one lucky bastard as always.

"Why is everything so quiet?!" My brother complained as he began to dig into his ear hole and pull out that one massive swamp algae that I noticed earlier. "Agh! Swamp algae in my ears. Gross." He grossed out while Ruby gave a small 'Ew' comment.

"Swamp algae!?" Rando asked enraged. I turned to him with my narrowed eyes.

"You might know the mechanics of your stolen techniques, but without proper training, you'll never know how to use them." Master Genkai told him sternly with she blankly stared at the tiny demon.

"SHUT UP HAG!" Rando screamed at her. "All I have to do is reverse the chant-!"

"Not so fast you little punk!" I cut him off curtly while Yusuke stood above him and laughed at the pathetic excuse of a Human-hunter.

"Come on now, you really think I'm going to let you do that?" Yusuke asked Rando. "Even at that since I don't have the energy to punch you, but I guess at this point we can let gravity take over?" My brother tiredly asked and stated. Rando let out a yell of fright and tried to sprint away, but my brother didn't let it and the redheaded demon ended up getting elbowed in the spine. Once he was done, Yusuke rolled back onto his back and laid there tiredly. "And that boys and girls is my super elbow drop."

"Yusuke, you really did it!" Botan cried out in joy as she walked over to my brother's side.

"I know, but can we wait until tomorrow before we jump around all excited like." Yusuke weakly breathed out.

"Hn." I hummed as I feel the edge of my lips rise upward again. "That son of a bitch had done it." I hear Genkai hum beside me.

"Winner of the Genkai Tournament: Yusuke Urameshi!" She announced making Botan and Ruby jump up and down happily while I just smirked with my eyes closed. I looked over my left shoulder and saw Master Genkai went over to Kuwabara and let out some sort of yellow spirit energy out of her hands in thread forms that coursed around his body frame.

"I should take Rando to the Spirit World before he wakes up." Botan said as she held Rando in her right hand.

"Oh darn, I was really hoping I could keep him as a pet." Yusuke joked making me mentally roll my eyes.

"Then he would be your responsibility." I told him dully. "I am not going to clean up the mess after him like I always do after you."

"Hey!" Yusuke exclaimed as he laughed.

"You should take Kuwabara, now that Genkai has finished the girls' work completely on him." Master Yara said as she turned to Ruby and I. "It was not perfect, but I really appreciate both of your efforts. You two did well."

"Thank you, Master Yara." Ruby and I said in sync, politely as we both bowed out heads.

"What do you mean?" Yusuke asked confused. "Take him to Spirit World?"

"No dimwit, to his house!" Genkai snapped at my brother sternly. "The girls managed to heal him in a halfway, while I finished the rest. He will make a full recovery."

"Woah, that Spirit Wave technique sounds pretty cool." Yusuke said in awe.

"I'm glad you approve since you'll be training for the next six months trying to learn it." Genkai said, but Yusuke got up stretching.

"Nah! I'll have to get back to you on that old lady!" Yusuke said lazily. Oh no, here we go again. "Since first, how about my real prize, a first class ticket to Tokyo Dome!"

"Hm, Moron." I huffed as I crossed my arms over my chest. For once he can take things seriously but no, but that's my brother for ya.

"What? You still remember?" Botan asked.

"Well, of course!" Yusuke exclaimed. "You think all this was community service?!"

"Sorry Yusuke, but you're not allowed to go." Genkai told him making my brother's mood drop back into the mud. "The entire purpose of that tournament was to choose my student. Do you really think after all that mess I'd let you have a choice about it? "

"But. .. My ticket. . . " Yusuke pointed out.

"Yes, you'll need to have someone go in your place." Genkai instructed.

"But. . . the battle match. . ." My brother whined before falling backward back onto the bed of grass with a look of misery on his expression.

"Yusuke." Botan called softly as she shook her head. I let out an exasperated sigh as I slapped my forehead.

"Ughhh, this is going to be a long six months." I groaned as I shook my head with disapproval.

Indeed it is going to be a long run for both of us.
