Synopsis:
She was happiness. She was joy. A charming little girl with who would always see the positive side of things and try to find the good in people's heart. . . That girl was me, at some point. But this story is not one of those.
There is no prince charming or a knight in shining armour, but I can guarantee you that there will be dragons with flames, demons from many kinds, creatures from legends, and battles like no other.
But the greatest fight of all is. . . The conflict within the heart with weapons that many know as. . .
Emotions. . .

I had found myself in the middle of the forest again. My body felt so tired yet I felt so relaxed and fresh. When I lifted my body from the soft grass, and turned my head left to right for a better look at my surroundings.
A small groan left my lips out of irritation.
This is like the hundredth times that I have this dream. Ever since Sanyu's death, I had these weird dreams about me being in the nature where I would meet this mysterious person who would show up and would run away from me.
On cue I see that familiar black blur flash from the corner of my eyes, then within a second it vanished from my vision. As quickly as I could, I ran after it. Even though many would think that this is nothing but a waste of time, my had been taken since day one and my curiosity just keeps on getting hungrier for answers that I wanted.
I wanted to know what this all means? Why do I have these strange dreams every now and then?
What's going on, and why does this target me?
My legs kept on running as I scanned the area for that mysterious person. Whenever I was running in dreams, I felt so confident and light on my feet. I never get tired in it, and all I was able to feel was the freedom.
However, I still have no proper control over these, because most of the times it's impossible to have that in the dream realm.
My chase came to a halt when I see that mysterious entity in black disappear behind those woods again. As fast as my abilities can, I went to follow it. I ended up finding myself in a clearing with a large pond, but just to my luck, the figure I chased vanished again without a trace.
Great, another time of pointless search. . .
With a defeated sigh I rolled my eyes in annoyance and turned around to leave the area. However as soon as I turned on my heels, I see another figure standing there. I flinched away in reflex, but ended up stumbling and to my embarrassment land on my ass. My eyes were fixated on that figure before me. I couldn't see their faces from the shadows that were created by the hoodie that was covering their identity. A cape with a big hood in it that was so clean and pure white like the freshly fallen snow. It had a beautiful embroider with the color sapphire and it was on the left shoulder area. It looked so beautiful, but my admiration to it got cut short by my consciousness and turn back to the other stranger with questioning eyes.
"Who are you?" I asked them warily, not trusting him one bit. The stranger did not answer but instead crouched down to my level and offered a hand to me. His left hand that held some kind of strange marking. I didn't know why I did what I did, but I reached up for it-.
The alarm goes off and it woke me up from my strange dream.
How convenient, like always.
I grunted out loud before I killed my alarm clock with my super slap that Keiko had taught me. It survived of course to my so called fortunate. With every strength I had in my body, I lifted myself up from the mattress and see what time it is.
~5:40 AM.~
Well, better start the day now than never. I left the bed, fixated it, then pulled out the comfortable clothes with my right hand. However, when I was about to use my left hand, I winced in pain by the slightest movement of my fingers. A small his went through my gritting teeth and I looked down at my left hand that had been still bandaged up, covering my giant burn scar that is running up to my shoulder.
Once again, I feel that it warms up a little, and I don't know why. In the next seconds, the warm feeling on my arm disappeared.
What's going on with me?
However, I pushed this into the back of my mind because I remembered we're going to leave today to start out training with the masters. So, I shook my head and get the morning bath for myself ready.
"So how long will you two be stuck there?" My mother asked me and my brother at the kitchen table as we all ate our food.
"It will be six months mom." I informed her just as I placed the small ball of rice inside my mouth.
"But what about school?" Atsuko questioned. "Won't you miss the entire semester by going to this 'Boot-Camp'? Where is that place anyways?"
"It's somewhere far away." I replied with no emotion in my tone while my brother was munching on his own breakfast loudly beside me. "For the School work I had already asked Keiko's help and Mr. Yoshida, we managed to come to an agreement with Mr. Takenaka's." Even though it was a lot of paperwork and convincing, we got the okay from the principal.
"I see." Mother replied with a small nod.
"Man, you really made sure you thought of everything." Yusuke commented with his usual sarcastic tone making me mentally roll my eyes.
"Hn, well someone has to have the brains here." I stated with a blunt tone. "Unlike someone who never thinks and the only thing he can do is punch people in the face."
"Hey!" My brother cried out, of course taking this personally and like always loose his cool so fact. "No one asked for your opinion!" Then he let out a scoff. "Well at least my fist managed to punch it's first de-." Right before he was able to finish that word I kicked him in the shin, making him yelp out in pain. "HEY WHAT WAS THAT FOR?!"
"Look, will you just shut it and eat fast? We're still need to pack things up as well if we don't want to miss the bus to the train station." I told him pointed, just as I ate the last piece of meat and then picked up the plate to dunk it into the sink. I hear Yusuke grumbled under his breath but knowing that I was right he did as I told him so anyways. " Also, before being offended by the things I say, imagine those that I hold back." I added then I went to clean up my own plate and utensils I used.
Once we finished with the food, we went to pack our stuffs. After gathering everything that would be necessary for us, we later on dibbed our goodbyes to our mother.
"Make a call every now and then, okay?" Mom asked be both of us as we just got out of the door.
"Yeah sure." Yusuke replied dismissively.
"And keep each other out of trouble." With those last words she shut the door.
"Hn, more like I keep that dimwit out of trouble." I murmured under my breath before walking ahead. I can feel my brother's eyes trying to burn holes into my neck, but I just ignored it and just left to the bus stop.
Just as we got on the bus, I took a seat at the back and leaned my entire being backwards into the chair's fabric, closing my eyes and inhale deeply. I felt so exhausted, but I didn't even do anything.
Well, besides trying to like heal up Carrot Top's injuries as best as my abilities could, but I guess that Ruby girl had already took care of it better than I have. . .
"Hey sis!" I hear my brother call out to me. I opened one of my eyes and looked at Yusuke who was sitting in the seat in front of me. "You okay there?" I just nodded my head mutely.
"Weird dreams." I gave a short reply to him quietly before closing my eyes back again. I found this moment a bit surprising since he never usually cares what my problems are. Or at least openly show that he cares about me.
However, I wouldn't blame him if he really didn't. . .
I am not the best sister. I was never that supportive when it comes to emotions, because I hide mines from the public ninety-nine percent of the time. I didn't want others to be bothered by them, because there are always more important things to do than my own feelings.
And even if I didn't show it, I care for the people I love and they are more important than I ever will be.
After hours of travelling, we eventually found ourselves back at the temple where Master Genkai, Master Yara and Ruby were living. On our way up, Yusuke kept on complaining about the stair steps to me, but I learned to tune it out and just focus on something else.
Out of the blue that strange dream came into my mind and the next thing I knew I was drawn by that.
Again, what could that mean?
Even though I have this. . . chasing dream for like two years or so. . . But this one however. . . Now that I think about the pictures that still remained in my memories. . . It did look and felt slightly different. . . especially with that person who was hiding inside the cape and hoodie.
They were a new figure I hadn't see before. . . but despite that. . . they gave an aura that was warm, comforting, and welcoming. . . like they want me to trust them. . .
Before I can even think of it anymore, theorize or find clues, we were now standing in front of the entrance of the temple. My orbs looked to the side and I see Yusuke looking at me expectedly. I didn't bother to hide my eyeroll at that moment and with a sigh I knocked on the door with my fist.
It opened up before us and we found my new Water-Bender training buddy behind.
"Hello, there guys!" Ruby greeted me and my brother with a small wave. "Come on in." Without any issue we followed her into the depths of the temple.
The both of us eventually arrived inside the room where the two masters were sitting at a small table and drink their teas in peace.
"Well, looks like we got visitors sister dear, and not just any." Master Yara, the blind old lady spoke with a smirk tugging her lips.
"Hah, about damn time they arrived." Genkai spoke right after before placing the cup down and get up to her feet along with her sister. "Let's see the rats we're going to deal with."
"Okay Grandma, you can stop with the insults." My oaf of a brother snapped at them rudely, making me mentally facepalm. Even though I kind of agree with his words, I also burned that in mind that these old ladies aren't your average elders. And after the little show Genkai had put on yesterday, I can tell that this is really going to be a long six months full of suffering for us.
I watched in silence as Genkai and Yara approached us. Genkai did all the scanning while Yara just stood there silently beside her. After a long intense minute, one of the masters spoke up.
"I can see potential in either of you." The old lady with greyish-pink hair began talking. "But just because there are some sloppy talents in you, it doesn't mean you can have the entitlement to be lazy." She snapped the last part making my brother flinch while I stood my ground firm like a solider.
"Just like she said it." Master Yara continued with the speech. "And like before, once you step foot into this temple as our students, there will be no going back. You can forget sympathy when it comes to training, and I don't want to see any of you slack off, you got it."
"Yes master." I spoke up in a firm and calm voice, and just kept myself polite. I glanced at my brother for a second and I see the him sweat bullets while holding a face of terror on himself.
I turn back around and see the two elder women nod their heads.
"We will start in two hours, which should be enough to pack your things out of your bags and change into some comfortable clothing." Genkai took over the talking. "Ruby, show them their rooms."
"Of course, Master Genkai." Ruby bowed slightly before motioning for us to follow her. We did without question, but my brother seemed to be more in the hurry than I am.
Is he scared of the training?
That might be the case and it would be a lie if I saw I am not scared at all.
"These will be your rooms for the time being." The Water-Bender girl told us before pointing at each door that are right next to each other. "Chose to your liking but be right on schedule."
"Yeah-yeah, whatever." Yusuke waved his hands dismissively as he went into the door to my right. "Wake me up when we need to go." With that he slid the door shut behind him. I shook my head in disapproval.
Cocky and lazy like usual.
I went inside my room and approached the door. My hand dropped the bag and then I began my unpacking fast.
"Oh, also there are some extra clothes there in the drawer for training." Ruby informed me.
"Hn." I nodded my head in acknowledgement and I got a smile from the girl.
"Well, have fun packing." The Water-Bender girl said cheerfully. "But if you need anything, I'll be in the kitchen." With that she closed the door for me. I turn back around and sighed.
'This is going to be a really. . . really. . . really long and probably torturous six months. . .' Even though I didn't even start it, I can already feel the pressure in it.
But as I was packing, my hand accidentally pumped into the book that I had been carrying for as long as I can remember. Then my mind repeated the quote that would give me the motivation.
'Either die in the ashes of your own shame or rise from the flames like a Phoenix. . .' I repeated that phrase and once more I felt myself become determined.
I know it will be a long road of challenges, but it's not impossible.
I will become stronger. . .
