Author's Notes- Warning Chi Chi bashing ahead. Readers have been advised.

She can't believe it. Truly can't believe what she is seeing. The way they move through the sky with such speed, she never thought she would see another possess other than Goku, but she was wrong. So wrong to assume that. She should have known better from all of her years adventuring across the world with one piece of advice given to her long ago by her older sister. Always expect the unexpected.

Easy for her to say. Especially with her prince charming from another planet sweeping her off her feet. I would love to see Mr Prince Charming do what they're doing.

Has she followed her older sister's advice? Well she kinda had to after encountering alien life for the first time at a young age,but that still doesn't mean she isn't constantly surprised at what she sees on a daily basis. Her three companions are a prime example of this. Sure she expected if he was to ever get out from under Chi Chi's thumb one day if he so chose to follow in his footsteps, Gohan too would become a great warrior just like his father. How could he not? Judging from what she has witnessed so far he is well on his way to achieving such a feat however unlike his mother, she would never persuade his decision. It is his life to live after all,and he is still far too young to make any life changing decisions right now.

Speaking of mothers however as she tries to follow Gohan's and Lapis's movements through the air only to have her efforts be in vain when they disappear out of sight within a blink of an eye,Bulma can't help but feel as though she is the mother in the situation she has currently found herself in. How could she not? Not only is she the oldest out of the four of them, making her the eldest of the group at the young age of twenty seven, but also no offense to the young woman sitting to her right, she could honestly say she is the most mature out of all of them.

I can't really blame Lazuli though. If i could do half the stuff, she can then i probably would have done the same to my own sister.

Just the mere thought of what she could have gotten away with brings a faint grin to Bulma's face for a split moment before suddenly it evaporates into shock when Lazuli breaks the silence asking an innocent question leaving her rooted to her spot with wide eyes.

" So why didn't you end up with Goku?"

An innocent question, she knew eventually would be asked by one of these teenagers. She just didn't think she would be asked this personal question so soon. A question she too has often wondered about what could have been. If she had married Goku would it have been her living with Goku and Gohan up in the mountains or would they have lived at Capsule Corp instead? Would she have watched like a proud mother, her husband and son train every single day with nothing but a smile across her face. Too many questions. Many in which would never be answered.

" I have no idea what you are…."

" Uh huh? Pardon my french but who are you kidding? I might only have limited data about when you guys traveled around the world collecting Dragon Balls and such but any idiot can tell you guys were made for each other. Hell, I have never seen you not smile when you talk about him so what happened between the two of you to make you drift apart and stay in the dreaded friend zone?"

She really was nailing it right on the head. True, when she had been dating Yamcha back during her youth she had heard similar whispers coming from villagers about how she was with the wrong guy. Such whispers she had brushed off to the side, but the more she heard them the more she started to think about how just maybe they were onto something. If she could go back and change things she would, but unfortunately she can't,and to top it all off the straw that broke the camel's back was something so unexpected she had no time to react.

" It's hard to explain. Even i don't know all the details. What I do know is this. When Goku and I traveled to Fire Mountain that was when we first met Chi Chi. I guess when Goku and Chi Chi were alone she got rather infatuated with him. I remember as we were leaving there was some big misunderstanding between them."

Now this was the part she really didn't want to tell. Not because it is rather embarrassing for her but if she was Goku, she would be rather embarrassed for what he had agreed to without knowing. So much so that Bulma can't help but cross her arms over her chest and stare ahead with an annoyed look.

" Apparently the big oaf misunderstood what she meant by marriage. He thought for some bizarre reason marriage meant food and that the next time they met,Chi Chi would make him some giant feast or something. Anyways a couple of years go by,and she ends up showing up at The World Martial Arts Tournament, and practically demands he marry her."

Okay this just had to be some kind of joke. Nobody is really that stupid, but judging from the look across Bulma's face, she wasn't joking. No, what she heard just now was the truth, and the truth was quite painful to hear. So much so Lazuli blinks in shock and stares blankly at Bulma for a few seconds in silence, truly not believing what she just heard.

" So you're telling me that the only reason why Goku and Chi Chi are together is because the big loaf thought he was getting a free meal?"

Receiving nothing but the slightest of nods from Bulma without thinking twice Lazuli face palms herself earning the older woman's attention as she shakes her head before she lowers her hand back down to give her a pointed look.

" Okay seriously, was Goku dropped on his head as a baby or something? He seems like a nice enough guy but he's way out there if you know what I mean?"

Unfortunately she does know what she means. Although he is so nice and sweet at times,Goku does act rather bizarre. She could only shutter to think just what he would have turned out to be if his grandfather didn't accidently drop him on his head.

" Actually he was. Goku from what I remember was discovered in some kind of pod like the one Raditz used. Anyways this older man named Gohan discovered him,and lets just say things got off to a rocky start. Gohan told me some stories about how Goku at first was a rather destructive child until his personality took a one eighty when he was dropped on his head. I can't help but be thankful for that even though at times,Goku can really act like a child trapped in a man's body."

She can only imagine. I mean really to mistaken marriage for food? Hell even Gohan would never get those two mixed up! Still though despite this something deep in her gut is telling her there is more to this story, and for Gohan's sake she is going to get to the bottom of it. Who better to help her unravel this mystery than ask the one woman who just might be motivated enough to have a lifelong fantasy of hers come to life.

" Alright so what happened next? They just what got married right there on that stage in front of the whole world?"

" No from what i've been told right after the tournament once Goku defeated King Piccolo,Chi Chi brought him back to Fire Mountain, and shortly after with her father The Ox King overseeing everything they were married."

" Wait, wait, wait! Backup there a little bit. You're telling me that not only did Chi Chi drag Goku off to be married like some hussie the moment everyone's back was turned, but she also didn't bother to invite you or any of Goku's closest friends? You know the more I learn about Chi Chi the more I want to cave her face in."

And that is something she can agree wholeheartedly with her on. Chi Chi,just hearing the name alone makes her scowl. She really shouldn't be feeling this way. She should feel happy for her best friend that he ended up married to such a strong minded woman. A bit possessive but strong minded nonetheless. Especially when it comes to Gohan. Just bringing up the subject of her son up to Chi Chi still leaves Bulma reeling. To think how much Chi Chi pushes Gohan to achieving a lifelong dream of hers. Sure every mother wants to see their son succeed in life but to force life decisions on him at such a young age not caring about his opinion on the matter? It's a miracle he hasn't cracked under pressure from Chi Chi's overbearing attitude.

" I can't really disagree with you. There have been a lot of times when I just wanted to bang my head against the wall. Whenever you bring up Gohan to her,she can't stop talking about how Gohan is going to be a great scholar someday,or how he is going to be a scientist one day. It's truly sickening. Don't even get me started about the way she treats Goku. She'll let him train to his heart's content but she won't allow Gohan even a second to himself?"

" You don't have to tell me. I saw the inside of Gohan's room."

Instantly feeling Bulma's gaze upon her looking up towards the sky as she watches Gohan forcing a defending Lapis back with a nice combination of punches and kicks she had taught him for a brief moment a smile comes across Lazuli's face before it disappears into a scowl the moment she looks away to find a questionable gaze directed her way.

" When? How?"

" It was right before I met you actually. Lapis and I decided to take Gohan to this carnival in West City for his birthday, and when we were there we came across one of your fliers. I have to admit it intrigued me the moment,I saw it. To be willing to fork over that much money for information on a child that isn't even yours left quite a good impression. I decided then and there that I needed to meet you,but it also got me curious about Chi Chi,and as to why it wasn't her going the extra mile to find her son. So I decided before I paid you a trip,I would stop by her home to do some reconnaissance. I was expecting to find a heartbroken woman but instead I found a happy as a clam woman cooking at the stove without a care in the world. I decided maybe just maybe it was all for show, and she was just hiding it really well,so I decided to move on,but the moment I stepped foot inside of Gohan's room any symptonthy i might have had for her went out the window. If you even want to call it a room. It was more like a prison cell to me,and that's saying something from someone who had one. No toys,no television, not even a board game for him to play with. Instead all that was inside that room was school books. Some I could even tell were just purchased recently. Advanced school books mind you. I know Gohan is smart for his age but no child should be subjected to what she was putting him through, and I'll be damned if I allow him to go back there without a fight."

No matter how many times she enters this room, she can't help but feel impressed. Very few people across the world would be able to come up with some of the inventions on full display in this laboratory, and it is quite a laboratory. A wide room which looks as though there are numerous floors underneath it hiding even more treasures from this world.

Well that might not be such a bad thing. Especially when Laps is involved.

Speaking of her twin brother taking a moment to glance away from Bulma as she works on some kind of visor hearing snippets of Lapis trying to goat Gohan into hitting a button on the side of this massive machine in the corner of the room making her way quickly across the room Lazuli whispers rather loudly.

" Lapis!?"

Glancing over his shoulder instantly as he finds himself under Lazuli's cold stare raising his hands up in mock surrender with a grin forming Lapis motions down towards a sheepish looking Gohan with his index finger.

" It was his idea."

Rolling her eyes keeping her gaze on Lapis as she brings her arms to cross over her chest movement coming from behind draws Lazuli's attention causing her to look over her shoulder to find an approaching Bulma making her way across the laboratory to them.

" Ahh,I see you found my latest invention. It took me a few months to get everything right but I think I've got the adjustments down just right. Much like the saiyan scanner this device is designed to accurately read one's power level."

Her latest invention. She could say her pride and joy. To think making a machine like this turned out to be so simple once she stopped overthinking things. It took a lot of work but with a blueprint to follow thanks to the scouter left behind by Raditz building this device turned out to be a piece of cake. Even now she can see the gears turning in each of their heads as they stare at this massive device in awe making her smile before rearing back Bulma claps her hands together once again earning their attention.

" So who wants to go first?"

Before anyone has a chance to respond instantly Lazuli is shoved forward causing her to stumble on forward before she corrects herself and snaps her head to look over towards a grinning Lapis's way with a small glare.

" Ladies first isn't that right sis?"

Covering her mouth to suppress her laughter taking a couple moments to compose herself as she feels herself calming down slowly Bulma clears her throat causing Lazuli to turn her frosty gaze on her.

" Alright Lazuli if you can go and stand on that platform right there while I fire this baby up."

Grumbling empty threats under her breath walking past Bulma onto the platform she had been referring to taking a moment to glance Lapis's way with an unamused look instantly as the sound of the gears of the machine coming to life echoes through the room slowly Lazuli returns her attention back towards Bulma finding her looking over at a nearby screen connected to the device, and judging from the frown appearing on her face, she wasn't finding anything to her liking.

" I guess there are a couple more kinks,I need to work out. I'm not getting a reading on this thing."

And Lazuli instantly knew why and so did Lapis. One of the advantages Dr Gero put into their design. There was no mistake about why Bulma wasn't getting a reading. Unless they want to be known nobody or anything on this planet will be able to track them. Not the military, not any of The Z Fighters, nobody.

But I suppose we can let her in on this little secret. I just hope Lapis doesn't try to turn this into some kind of competition. I swear he can be such a child at times.

" I can assure you it's not broken. Here allow me to demonstrate."

Unable to keep the confusion from coming across her face the moment she turns to look at Lazuli instantly, Bulma's eyes widen when she sees something she has never seen before. Not from anyone. This blue aura that suddenly comes to surround Lazuli as small sparks can be seen trickling out striking everything in sight. A sight Bulma can only stare at in awe before movement out of the corner of her eye from the computer screen catches her attention forcing her to look away, and back towards the screen.

No way!? It's just not possible! No one's this strong!

The machine just had to be malfunctioning. It just had to be. Nobody is this strong. Even Raditz wasn't this strong, and from what she is seeing,Lazuli makes him look like a harmless housefly compared to her. This shocking development leaving Bulma stunned just watching the numbers tick on upward until they come to settle on a staggering feat making her stumble back with wide eyes. Such a reaction drawing Lapis's curiosity as he moves over to see just what has Bulma so spooked before a grin comes across his face, and he lays a hand gently down on her shoulder causing the older woman to slowly look in his direction with her face still riddled with nothing but shock.

" Do you see now why we're not worried about the big bad saiyans? There's absolutely nothing to worry about."

Deciding to see what the fuss is all about quickly moving off the platform to stand directly behind Lapis getting up on her tippy toes to take a peek at the screen instantly a rather pleased smile comes across Lazuli's face.

Not bad. Not bad at all.
