IZUKU POV

"Alright everyone today we will be doing rescue training. Now go get changed and be out front in ten minutes. Everyone except the class representatives are dismissed."

The class quickly jumped up and grabbed their costumes from the wall and made their way to the locker room. The only ones left in the room were Pops, Yaoyorozu, and myself.

"Is everything alright Mr. Aizawa?" Yaoyorozu was standing in the front of the class with her costume case in her hands.

"Since you two were elected President and Vice President I'm putting you two in charge of keeping everyone in line while on the bus."

Letting out a sigh I grabbed my case. "Is that it, I thought you had something big for us."

He narrowed his eyes. "This is big."

"Keeping everyone quiet so you can take a power nap isn't big." I turned around and headed towards the door. "But I guess I'll do my job as President and keep them all in line." As I opened the door I looked over my shoulder. "Come on Yaoyorozu we have eight and half minutes till we need to be in front of the bus."

Yaoyorozu quickly followed behind me. "Are you sure it was the best idea to talk to our teacher like that?"

I scratched the back of my head. "Maybe not, but hey it's too late now so might as well roll with the punches."

She just shook her head as we reached the locker rooms. "Why did I vote for you instead of myself?"

"Wait, you voted for me?"

"Yeah…" she looked away. "I knew you were smart, but after I saw how you were in an actual combat situation I realized that you were also able to lead. I mean you did come up with a plan that let us win."

I looked at her with a blank stare before bursting out in laughter. "Oh God, that's hilarious. I voted for you for the same exact reasons."

"Wait if we both voted for each other then who else voted for us?"

I shrugged as I opened the door to the locker room. "It doesn't really matter, let's just do our best.

After a quick drive around the campus we reached our destination. A giant domed building that looked more like a theme park than a training area on the inside. Looking from atop the stairs we could see a variety of different locations to perform rescues. As everyone looked around in amazement we were interrupted by an astronaut.

"Hello everyone my name is Thirteen and welcome everyone to the Unforeseen Simulation Joint or the USJ. Today we will be doing rescue training."

"This is going to be so cool! The real hero's work starts here." Kirishima excitedly activated his quirk as he punched his fists together.

"Alright calm down everyone, we have a lot to cover before we can begin. The first thing I'd like to cover is your quirks. Thanks to Mr. Aizawa's quirk assessment test and All Might's combat training you should have a good understanding of what your quirks can do and how destructive they can be. While that may be good for fighting, that more than likely won't be the case when it comes to rescuing. Sometimes it's better to not rely on your quirk for every situation."

Kaminari quickly shot up his hand while cutting off Thirteen. "That makes sense but still wouldn't you say it's better to have a quirk and not need it than not have one at all?" He shot a quick glance over at me with a smirk on his face.

I rolled my eyes while sighing. "It's only been two weeks and I'm already tired of his shit."

"Why don't you shut the hell up. You have no room to talk since you got your ass handed to you in combat training before you even knew what was happening."

I raised my eyes as I looked over at Bakugo. "What in the actual fuck is he doing?"

"Alright both you cut it out." Thirteen opened up a small black hole to get everyone's attention. "While yes it can be considered a major handicap not having a quirk when doing rescues that doesn't necessarily mean it is. It actually could be a major benefit."

"Excuse me Thirteen, what exactly do you mean by that?" Uraraka asked, slightly confused.

"Well, think of it like this. When you're put into a rescue situation most hero's are being forced to make hard choices. They have to decide in a split second how their quirk can be useful, will it cause any more issues, where would it best be utilized, and the list can keep going depending on the quirk or situation. That's why for someone who doesn't have a quirk or even a quirk not suited for rescue could have an advantage. They have a split second to decide where can I be the most helpful and how can I do it? While it may not be the flashiest thing that doesn't mean it's any less important."

As Thirteen continued her speech. I made my way over to Bakugo. "What do you think you're doing?" I spoke to him in a hushed tone to not draw attention to us.

"Telling that idiot to shut up. What's it to you Deku?"

"Cut the crap you damn well know he was talking about me. So why did you speak up?"

"Why don't you stop pretending to be something you're not?"

"You're not a hero."

I shook my head as I walked away from Bakugo. "God dammit why now?"

As I made my way back to my spot there was a brief moment where the light in the USJ dimmed before returning to normal. While everyone looked around confused, a portal opened up in the middle of the building allowing people to walk out of it. Something felt off about this situation, Pops had never mentioned anything about their being anyone besides teachers here. I instinctively reached for the knife on my back.

"Everyone stay where you are!" Pops out his hand out to stop us from coming any closer as he pulled his goggles up.

"Oh shit this isn't part of the training!" I quickly pulled out my phone to try and message Principal Nezu to let him know of the situation. My plan was quickly shut down as there was no service. "Alright, stay calm and think quickly. What would be the best course of action?" Looking around the class an idea came to mind. I put my knife away as I ran up to Pops.

"What are you doing? I told you all to stay back."

"Calm down, I have a plan. Can you stall for twenty, maybe thirty minutes at the max?"

He shot me a quick glance before looking back at the group of villains. "Whether I can or not doesn't matter. I'll do whatever I have to keep you kids safe. Whatever you're planning on doing, make it quick." He quickly made his way down the stairs to face the group of villains.

"You got it Pops." I turned around to see my class in shock and worry. There wasn't any time for that in the current situation. "Iida you need to get out of here and run to the school to let them know what's happening. We can't make any calls because something or someone is blocking our means of communication."

"Understood." Iida turned and started to run to the exit.

"My you are a quick thinker. That could prove troublesome in the future. However, no one will be leaving today."

Everyone looked up to see the same purple and black mist from earlier form above us. In the center of it two yellow eyes formed as they looked down on us. The mist began to spread as it made its way toward Iida.

"I won't let you stop him!" Thirteen stretched out her arm as he started to suck the mist into a blackhole.

"Good that should not only slow him down enough for Iida to get out but it also takes away their only way to escape." The smile on my face quickly disappeared when I noticed a small portal begin to form behind Thirteen. "Thirteen wait!"

I was too late. The suction from her blackhole went through the portal and started to tear into her back. She deactivated her quirk as she fell to the ground. The eyes in the mist shot back towards Iida who was already opening the door. Thirteen's sacrifice has bought him enough time to get out.

"How unfortunate… Tomura won't be pleased with this, but I might as well scarter the lot of you around. I'm sure our friends will treat you nicely." The black and purple mist quickly enveloped the class.

The feeling of being engulfed in mist was unsettling. The fact that everything turned to black followed by the sensation of weightlessness was equally as terrifying. The upside was that everything only lasted a few seconds. Feeling the ground under me I sighed in relief.

"It's about time someone showed up, I was getting bored!"

I turned around to see a man running at me full steam with a lead pipe. Drawing my knife I readied myself for a fight. As he drew closer I couldn't help but smile. Based on how he moved it was obvious that he didn't really know what he was doing. As he took a swing at me I side stepped his swing and kicked the back of his knee bringing him to the ground. I flipped my knife around and slammed his temple with the butt of my knife knocking him out. Putting my knife away I decided to go look for another member of my class. With any luck everyone would be fighting petty criminals like that, so there wouldn't be much to worry about.

"You just got lucky, everyone else is fighting the real deal."

I shook my head as I quickened my pace.

"They're probably all dead by now."

"Shut up dammit, it's not the time for this."

"Some hero you are, you couldn't even save a single person in your class."

I could feel my breathing begin to pick up and become shallow. Leaning against one of the rocks I closed my eyes trying to regain my composure. Slowly my breathing started to return to normal. Taking one last deep breath I readjusted my collar.

"You guys really choose the worst time to speak up, don't you?" I laughed to myself as I continued to look for someone from class.

After a few minutes I could hear the faint sounds of fighting. Picking up the pace I came to a ledge where I saw Kyoka and Yaoyorozu fighting a small group of villains. Reaching into my belt I pulled out a small stun grenade. Staying hidden from the sight of the villains I hit the flat side of my blade against the rocks three times hoping it would get Kyoka's attention. After the third strike her eyes darted up to me and a small smirk formed on my face.

I spoke in a softer tone so that the villains wouldn't hear me. "If you can hear me tap your right foot twice."

Down below I saw her look back to the villains in front of her as she tapped her right foot twice. The subtle movement wasn't completely unnoticed. Yaoyorozu glanced down at Kyoka before scanning the area. Her eyes slowly drifted up to my location before going back to the group in front of her.

"Good they both know I'm here so this will be easier." I put my knife away as I got ready to put my plan into motion. "I apologize ahead of time for this but on my count I need both of you to cover your eyes and ears. You have ten seconds to let Yaoyorozu know."

I watched their interaction and after a moment I saw Yaoyorozu nod.

"Alright here it comes." I pulled the pin on the grenade and threw it in between the two groups. As the grenade flew through the air I took off down the ledge ready to fight. While running towards the group facing off against my classmates a thought occurred to me. "I probably should have tested how the special contacts I ordered work against stun grenades."

The moment the grenade hit the ground Yaoyorozu created a giant blanket to block her and Kyoka's eyes from the flash that was about to happen. A few of the villains screamed as they all covered their eyes in pain. Luckily the contacts worked as they were supposed to so the stun grenade seemed like an annoying camera flash opposed to the ungodly shock of someone turning the lights on in a dark room when you're not expecting it.

When the blanket that Yaoyorozu had created fell to the ground Kyoka unleashed a high pitched sound wave from the speakers on her boots rendering three of the unfortunate villains unconscious. Acting just as quick I sent a roundhouse kick to one of the villains' heads knocking him out. The last off the group that was still conscious was still trying to gain his bearings. He had gone from a five on two to being the lone survivor facing off against three heroes in training in less than a minute. While he was still trying to figure out what was going on his legs were wrapped up by a bola that Yaoyorozu had created.

I turned around to the two of them with a smile. "That went better than I expected it to go." I turned back to the villain who was laying on the ground trying to crawl away. Pulling out one of my throwing knives I threw it so it stuck in the ground a few inches away from his head. "Thanks for keeping one of them conscious Yoayorozu, maybe we can get a few answers from him."

He turned around and looked up terrified. "You kids won't get shit from me!"

I planted my knee on his chest as I pulled out my knife brandishing it threateningly. "Let's see how long that confidence will last."

He let out a scream as I stuck my knife into the ground next to his hand. "What the hell is wrong with you? Aren't you a hero in training? You're seriously fucked up kid!"

"Sweet talking me won't get you anywhere so why don't you just tell me why you guys decided to attack us." I stuck my knife into the ground a little closer to his hand.

I could see panic in his eyes. He clearly didn't expect today to end up like this. "Alright, alright just calm down." His breathing started to get spermatic. "They said we were going to kill All Might and some future heroes. That's all I was told, I swear."

I narrowed my eyes at him as I picked up my knife again. "Jirou what do you think?"

"He's not lying if that's what you wanted to know."

I relaxed a little as I let out a sigh. "Goodnight."

He looked at me confused. "Goodnight?"

I brought the butt of my knife to the side of his head, knocking him out. "Well that was interesting." I stood up stretching about to turn around.

"Don't you dare turn around!"

I rolled my eyes as I ignored the warning. I scratched the back of my head, slightly confused. "So…. What's going on over there?"

"You idiot stop trying to sneak a peek at her!" Kyoka was holding up the blanket while standing in front of Yaoyorozu.

"Ah yes I clearly planned this whole entire scenario just so there would be a chance that I see her like that again. You caught me. Take me away." I put out my hands pretending I was about to be handcuffed.

Kyoka's eyes pierced through me. "What do you mean by chance to see her like this again?"

I blinked a few times, caught off guard. "Promise you won't get mad?"

"No."

I held up a finger about to speak but nothing came out. I looked at Yaoyorozu who looked away with a slight blush. "So one day after class I asked her about her quirk. We went to one of the training rooms and something similar to this happened."

Kyoka just gave me a death stare before sighing. "Why?"

"Don't you mean how?"

"I know what I said." She raised a jack at me ready to strike.

"Calm down you two. Right now we need to focus on meeting up with the others to make sure they're safe." Yaoyorozu stepped from behind the blanket to reveal her in a new costume that was fully intact.

Kyoka turned around as she dropped the blanket. "Yeah you're right."

With that the two of them turned to start heading down the mountain. I shook my head as I took off after them trying to catch up. As I started to get closer I was knocked to the ground after being hit in the head. As I got to my feet feeling a little disoriented I felt cold steel pressed to the side of my head.

"I don't think the three of you will be going anywhere." Kyoka and Yaoyorozu turned around and froze when they saw a villain holding a gun to my head. "Now I'm going to give you two options, either tell us where All Might is and I'll let you three go or refuse me and I'll paint the mountain with this kid's brain."

"What are you talking about? We don't know where All Might is, we weren't even told he was here today."

"That's strike one." He pulled the hammer back letting the sound echo in my ear."

"Finally someone can put his pathetic life to an end."

"We're telling you the truth, we don't know where he is!"

"God knows he was too much of a bitch to do it himself."

"That's strike two." The villain moved the barrel of the gun to my temple.

"Sweet relief is just a few moments away."

I let out a soft sigh as I looked and saw horror etched into my classmates faces. "Hey um mr villain could you do me a favor and not shoot me through the temple?"

"Come on, this is your chance, just let it happen. No ones gonna miss you."

"Sure thing kid just tell me where All Might is and I'll be more than happy to not kill you."

I looked up at him. "They already told you twice he's not here. But I was just hoping that if you are going to shoot me that you'd do it properly. I'd really hate to be deaf and have two more holes in my head."

He looked at me confused. "Kid you do know I'm going to kill you right."

"Yeah, and it's about time someone did. I just want it to be one shot and done. So why don't you just go ahead and put it under my chin or better yet I'm my mouth."

"I.. Izuku, what are you saying?"

"Do it, end it now."

"Kid, do you even know what you're saying?"

"Come on do it already. We don't know where All Might is so now it's time for you to hold up your end of the deal."

"Midoriya stop, this isn't a time for jokes."

I could feel the villain's hand shake a little. He was starting to second guess himself. I let out a sigh as I activated my quirk. I could see the orbs floating around everyone. It was no surprise when I saw two orbs begin to form. One was for Kyoka and the other for Yaoyorozu.

"Come on, do it already. I finally have someone hand me a way out on a silver platter and now you're going to chicken out."

"Izuku stop, this is serious!"

I looked over at Kyoka before turning towards the villain. "Do it dammit." I positioned my head so the gun was under my chin.

The man's hand was trembling, he clearly had never done anything like this before. He probably just assumed that the idea of being killed would get us to tell us whatever he wanted.

"Come on pull the fucking trigger!"

The villain tried to step back but I grabbed his hand keeping the gun pressed under my chin.

"If you won't do it then I'll just have to do it myself!"

"Izuku please don't do this!"

Screams echoed through the mountain zone. The villain was collapsed on the ground screaming bloody murder. I stood over him with one hand still outstretched to where he had previously been standing. His screams were starting to get annoying so I decided to kick him in the head to shut him up. Looking down how his gun was sitting at my feet still cocked.

"Do it, end it all."

I reached down and held it in my hands. Oddly enough it felt natural in my hands. Sighing I ejected the magazine and the round that was already loaded in the chamber. I threw the magazine off the mountain while tossing the gun itself onto the ledge above us so it would be harder for them to find when they came to. I finally turned around to see tears streaming down Kyoka's face while Yaoyorozu looked shocked.

"That… that was quite the bluff Midoriya." Yaoyorozu let out a nervous laugh. "For a moment there I thought you were serious. You really shouldn't be taking risks like that all the time."

I didn't answer her. They both slowly made their way towards me but Yaoyorozu stopped short as she bent down to pick something up. Before I could see what she grabbed I felt a sting on my face. Kyoka had slapped me again, but instead of her yelling this time she wrapped her arms around me pulling me into a hug.

"You collasoal fucking dumbass. You were serious." Her voice was soft, only I could hear her.

She looked up trying to see my eyes. I looked away from her. Even though I didn't verbally answer her, I told her everything she needed to know.

"So Midoriya, you're not really quirkless are you?"

I felt Kyoka's grip tighten on me as Yaoyoruzu questioned me. I looked over at her attempting to play dumb. "What makes you think that?"

"Quirkless people's eyes don't turn black." She extended her hand revealing one of my contacts.

"Shit… one of them must have gotten knocked out when I got hit in the head." I let out a sigh as I scratched my head. "Can we talk about this later? We really should meet up with the rest of our class."

"Fine, all three of us will talk later." She handed me my contact back as she turned around heading down the mountain again.

I tried to follow but Kyoka wouldn't budge. She had latched onto me and wasn't going to move. She kept her head buried in my chest.

"Come on Jirou we need to go."

She didn't answer, she just held me tighter and shook her head.

"Look I'm fine now see." I looked down at her.

"You're lying." She looked up at me with tears still streaming down her cheeks. "What happened? Your eyes look dead again."

I glanced down at the unconscious villain before looking back at her. You once asked me why I didn't alter your memory… that's why. I've essentially rewritten his history and there's a good chance he won't ever remember what really happened."

Slowly Kyoka released me from her arms. We started making our way down the mountain again. Even though she had let go of me she kept one of her jacks coiled around my arm refusing to let me get too far away. The walk down the mountain lashed only a few minutes but the uncomfortable silence made it seem like an eternity. The three of us soon found ourselves near the center of the building. In the distance we could see Pops still fighting off a few villains. Hoping to not cause any distractions for him we stayed along the edge. We were about to head up the stairs when I felt a tug on my arm. I turned to see what was wrong and I felt my stomach turn. An audible gasp came from Yaoyorozu as we saw a bird-like creature slam Pops into the ground. I took a step towards him but felt two pairs of hands on my arms.

"Midoriya I know how it looks, but he's a pro he can handle himself." Yaoyorozu kept her eyes locked on me. "You told Iida to go get help, they'll be here soon."

I looked back at her and Kyoka before brushing them off. Out of everyone here I knew Pops limit the best. If someone was able to catch him the way it did it meant one of two things. Either Pops had reached his limit or whoever he was fighting was extremely strong. Sneaking my way closer to them I saw a man covered in hands slowly approach Pops. I couldn't quite make out what they were saying, but I could clearly hear the sound of the bird creature snapping his arm like a toothpick. His screams echoed through the building. The man covered in hands laughed as he reached down to pick up Pop's goggles. Seeing him casually taunt Pops filled me with rage, but that rage turned to terror when the goggles turned to dust in the man's hands. Reaching into one of my pouches I pulled out a couple throwing knives.

"I've got one chance at this, so I better make it count."

I threw one of my knives at the bird-like creature. The knife sailed through the air before lodging itself in the creature's eye causing it to let go of pops as it screamed in pain.

"Alright one down so that just leaves him."

I readied my second knife as I looked to where the other villain was, but he was gone.

"Well that wasn't very hero like. Just look at what you did to my poor nomu." A cold raspy voice spoke into my ear.

Jumping away from the voice I took a quick swipe at his hands with the throwing knife. I had only seen him use his quirk once so I wasn't positive, but I had a feeling it had to do with his hands. I felt the blade dig into his hand as I backed away from him again.

"What are the chances of the both of you having the same idea when it comes to fighting me?" The villain used his other hand to pull the knife out before turning it to dust. "Unfortunately you don't have the skills to finish the job."

Panic was starting to set in. The villain had been faster than I thought he would be. That itself would be an issue and adding in the fact that he didn't flinch when I stabbed his hand with my knife meant he handled pain well. As I stood there trying to figure out a plan a familiar purple and black mist appeared next to him.

"Tomura it's time for us to take our leave."

The villain shot a glare at the mist. "I don't remember saying you could give me orders Kurogiri."

"I'm sorry but it seems a group of reinforcements led by All Might will be here any moment."

The villain known as Tomura started to scratch his neck furiously while mumbling to himself. After a minute he stopped and glared at me. "I suppose it can't be helped. If it was just All Might we would be fine. But it would be rude to leave without leaving a gift for our precious hero's." Tomura stuck out his hand as a portal opened next to him. "My nomu says no hard feelings."

The sounds of a portal opening behind me caught me off guard. As I turned around all I could see was a hand mere inches away from my face. My life flashed before my eyes and for once it wasn't due to my quirk. The feeling of dry skin pressed against my face was surprising. I should have been dead by now.

A sigh could be heard from Tomura. "You really are cool, aren't you Eraserhead?"

From the corner of my eye I could see Pops straining to keep his quirk activated. Even though he was on the edge of consciousness he was still fighting to keep me safe. He was willing to risk it all earlier to keep all of us safe so this would be the least I could do. Taking my combat knife from its holster I quickly took another slash at Tomura's hand while he was preoccupied with Pops. Another scream echoed through the USJ as Tomura pulled his hand now covered in blood and missing a thumb out of the portal. Both he and Pops looked at me in shock as I had a self-inflicted gash on my cheek.

I couldn't help but laugh a little as the blood streamed down my face. "I guess adding one more to the collection wouldn't hurt."

"You bastard I'll kill you!" Tomura began to charge at me before being completely enveloped in Kurogiri's mist. They disappeared just as quickly as they had appeared.

I made my way over to Pops before collapsing to my knees. It was waiting but I could still hear his breathing. "That's good, Mama Joke would kill me then find a way to bring him back just so she could kill him for leaving." The pain from the gash on my face started to fade as everything became fuzzy. The last thing I remembered before passing out was what sounded like doors being blown off their hinges.
