I bet some of you are happy I got this chapter out only after a couple months instead of over half a year. I saw a reddit post about some people looking forward to this story updating and thought I would surprise them. Knowing people enjoy this story did encourage me to continue. One of the reasons I write all these stories is because it does entertain people. As an author, it's one of our favorite signs that our work is good. Now, some responses to the comments from last chapter and we can move onto the story.

GG Vegito: Ditto is really the best Pokémon.

DN Works: Hah, not this time. New chapter was finished much faster.

0 Jordinio 0: When I first played Pokémon Red so many years ago, Charmander was my choice. The speed was sort of based off some bird Pokémon mentioned that they were incredibly fast flyers. I also figured large heavy bodies would be slower flyers. Why not mega evolution and battle bond?

Guest10032: I actually had multiple routes to take. First idea I had was having them lose to some experienced trainers. I try to do fights like the anime, as just having Pokémon stand and alternate firing moves would be boring. Making names for the sisters was the hardest thing about this chapter. There's a lot about Touma we won't find out easily because this is through Mikoto's POV. All Pokémon selected for trainers are selected for a reason. I haven't decided on Mikoto's 6th Pokémon yet. Plenty of time for that. The ending of your comment killed me.

mastermacer780: I write this story whenever the mood strikes me. It can come out of nowhere.

patrickthehedgehog21: Eventually. Accelerator will make sure of that.

YCG: Oh, god. That would be crazy. Mikoto's 'sister' in every town.

Acpeters: Yeah, Pokémon battles can only last so long here. Unless it's some legendary fight. If a Groudon attacked, the fight might last a bit. This chapter deals with the Misaka family a lot. You'll get a nice view of each sister.

Spartastic 4: Shhhh, don't discuss those omakes.

SuddenBetrayal: Once you get addicted to Pokémon again, you can hate me.

kyonsho23: Huh, battle bond ditto? That would be interesting.

YetOnlyADreamer: Hmm, small technicality, but yeah, makes sense. End results would have been the same.

zerofire210: Mikoto was just one of the easiest girls to make the story center on. I didn't want to do a Touma centered one again. Touma can't have any real legendary Pokémon. It doesn't fit his character. If he does get one, it's going to be a big show of getting it. Hamazura does have the strongest Pokémon. When he gets serious, no one can beat him.

Anime Shipper-345: Thanks for reading. Yeah, I don't update this story as much as I should, but I am trying to work on it more.

Disclaimer: I do not own Toaru Majutsu no Index or Pokémon. I wish I did so I could retire rich.

"Do you see them?" Kuroko asked, looking around the airport.

"Not yet," Mikoto replied, scanning the crowd of people. That was a problem with Academy being so big and only having one major airport. It was always packed. "They just touched down, so they might be stuck getting their luggage."

"I can't wait to see your mom again," Kuroko sighed happily, drooling a little. "She's beautiful and you're going to look so amazing when you're her age."

"Remember what you promised," Mikoto warned one last time. "Do not cause problems. If my mom knows you try to sexually harass-…"

"Showing love," Kuroko said with fluttering eyes.

"…Sexually harass me, she might have more doubts about me staying in the dorms," Mikoto continued. "You don't want me to leave, right?"

"N-No!" Kuroko shook her head vigorously.

"Neither do I," Mikoto's voice grew kind. "You're my best friend."

"Mikoto!"

The two girls turned to see one woman and three younger girls walking toward them, dragging luggage. Mikoto's mother, Misuzu, lead the group. She appeared to be an older version of Mikoto. The semblance was striking, with the same colored brown hair and eyes, though her chest was significantly more endowed. She appeared incredibly youthful for her age. So much, in fact, that Kuroko had originally mistaken Misuzu as Mikoto's older sister.

That had been an awkward first meeting.

"Hi, mom," Mikoto replied, smiling and giving her mother a hug. "It's great to see you again."

"I've missed you soooo much!" Misuzu squealed and then let her daughter go. "It's great to see you too, Shirai!" Before Kuroko could reply, she was wrapped up in a hug.

"It's nice to see you again, Misuzu-san," Kuroko muttered, partially distracted having her head shoved in the woman's breasts. In their last meeting, Misuzu had told Kuroko to use her first name and now it would help avoid confusion with most of the Misaka family being there.

"Let me introduce you to my other daughters," Misuzu said, letting Kuroko go, even if the girl stayed nestled there a little longer than was needed. "This is Mikoto's twin sister, Kyoka."

"Hello." Kuroko had to do a double-take. The girl who was waving at her did indeed look exactly like Mikoto. The only difference she noticed was her eyes. They just didn't seem quite as lively. She was wearing a t-shirt and some tight-fitting jeans, unlike Mikoto, who liked shorts.

"Nice to meet you," Kuroko replied, shaking her hand under the watchful eye of her Onee-sama. It took a lot of self-control not to jump at the girl. "You two really are twins."

"We get that a lot." Kyoka assured her.

"This cute girl here is, Chiyo," Misuzu continued, putting her hand on the little girl and giving her a slight push forward. The girl looked to be a ten-year-old Mikoto. A key difference was her hairstyle though. While it was the same light brown, a single strand seemed to stick up in the middle of her head. Currently, she was wearing a cute blue spotted dress with a white coat and sandals. "She's Mikoto's younger sister."

"Hello!" Chiyo greeted brightly. "It's nice to meet you Shirai-san."

"Awwwwww." Kuroko gushed and then gave the little girl a big hug. "You're adorable!"

"Thank you!" The girl replied, hugging her back. "You can call me Last Order if you want."

"Last Order?" Kuroko looked confused for a second. "Okay, is there a reason for that name?"

"When I become a great Pokémon trainer like my sister, we get a cool title," Chiyo exclaimed. "When I'm older, I'm going to be the best!"

"Like Accelerator. I heard he was in Academy City. That true?"

Everyone turned to the last girl. Obviously the older sister of Mikoto, she looked to be around 16-17 and had slightly longer hair. Her figure was more developed than her sisters and she was wearing a sneer on her face. There was some dark circle under her eyes like she hadn't slept, but other than that, she looked completely fine, though there was a sort of aura around her that Kuroko found off-putting. She couldn't quite explain it. The older girl's outfit consisted of a pink and white ao dai.

"That's my older sister, Shizuku," Mikoto told Kuroko, after flinching from hearing about Accelerator. "I doubt she'll introduce herself."

"Hey, I introduce myself… to strong trainers and hot guys," Shizuku pointed out. "Just because some of us aren't as… developed, doesn't mean everyone should go through life single." As she talked, she put her arm under her chest to make it more pronounced, causing Mikoto and Kyoka to scowl. While she was very pretty, Kuroko didn't feel the same attraction to her as the other Misaka family members.

"Be nice," Misuzu warned. "We let you come along since you promised to behave."

"It's just some sisterly teasing," Shizuku lied. "Besides, Mikoto has to show me around to all the good trainers."

"Onee-sama mentioned that you were a pretty famous trainer," Kuroko said while faking niceness, trying to be polite. "Is that true?"

"I've gotten quite a few badges in several regions," Shizuku bragged. "Along with participating in several tournaments, winning pretty much all of them."

"She wants to try to use the opportunity while she's here to challenge the world champ, Accelerator," Kyoka explained.

"Not that she's good enough yet." Chiyo giggled.

"You'll pay for that brat," Shizuku warned, before giving the little girl a noogie.

"I give! I give!"

"I should have known," Mikoto sighed. "That's so like you. And Chiyo is right. You won't stand a chance. He's that strong."

"It sounds like you know him," Misuzu commented offhandedly. "Did you challenge him, Mikoto? That's pretty reckless. You've barely started training yourself."

"I'm plenty strong myself," Mikoto muttered.

"She is!" Kuroko agreed. "Every test she's been put up to at Tokiwadai, Onee-sama's excelled at. She's the top student, already participating in tournaments, and easily catches any Pokémon she desires."

"What new Pokémon do you have?" Chiyo asked eagerly, hopping up and down. "Can we see?"

"How about over lunch?" Misuzu suggested. "My treat."

"Good, I'm starving." Shizuku agreed. "The flight took fooooorever."

"I know just the place."

Mikoto ignored her older sister and led her family along with Kuroko to a nearby café with outdoor seating so they could release their Pokémon. Chiyo absolutely loved all of Mikoto's Pokémon and even Shinx was kind enough to let the young girl hold him. As Chiyo was its owner sister, its protective nature wasn't an issue.

"I love him!" Chiyo squealed. "Shinx is so cute." The Pokémon looked smug at the compliment and Mikoto was worried it would go to its head. "How did you get him?"

"He hatched from an egg that I got," Mikoto replied smiling. "A… friend…" It kind of killed her to say that about Misaki. "… and I bought eggs together quite some time ago."

"You ever going to move away from electric types?" Shizuku asked, leaning back sloppily in her chair. "I told you before that you have to get a variety of types, or you're going to get your butt handed to you if someone has a type that counters it."

"I've been working on fighting even against type disadvantages," Mikoto huffed. "We've been through this before. Electric-types are my thing. I'm not going to change to suit what you think is right."

"And that's why you never beat me, twerp."

"There's a first time for everything."

"They've been like this for years," Misuzu sighed, sipping her ice tea. "A little competition is good, but they take it too far sometimes." She turned to Chiyo. "Don't become like them when you start your journey."

"I promise, Mom."

"Competitiveness is just one of her strong points," Kuroko pipped up. "It pushes her to keep improving, even when she's much further than everyone else in her class. Though… it has caused her to be a little… impatient sometimes. She registered for the tournament pretty quickly."

"She didn't do too badly," Misuzu commented. "I was rather impressed at how much she's grown. Sending her to Tokiwadai seemed to have been a good decision."

"Were you interested in Tokiwadai?" Kuroko asked Kyoka politely. Mikoto's twin sister had been unusually quiet since she arrived, only answering if addressed directly.

"No." The response was simple. "I don't have any desire to be a Pokémon trainer. I like Pokémon, but I want to be a Pokémon Doctor."

"A doctor?" Kuroko was shocked. "I… er…"

"You know not everyone in the world wants to be a trainer," Misuzu couldn't help smiling. "Academy City may be raising a lot of Pokémon trainers, but their population is only a small fraction of the world's population. There are teachers, doctors, scientists, breeders, coordinators, farmers, and countless other jobs available for people."

"Er… right… hehe." Kuroko tapped her head. She knew this. Tokiwadai made sure all the students knew these things. Plenty of jobs involved Pokémon that didn't revolve around being a trainer. Still, seeing Mikoto's twin sister go a completely different route was a little disconcerting.

"Can I show you my Pokémon?" Chiyo asked, tugging on Mikoto's sleeve. "Mom let me have one, but I can't go out on my own. It was a promise."

"I would love to see it," Mikoto assured her.

"Come on out!" Chiyo cheered, tossing a ball into the air. There was a flash of light, and a small rodent Pokémon with pale yellow fur and large ears appeared. Its ear-tips, collar, and tail were black and angular while its tiny nose looks like a dot.

"A Pichu!?" Mikoto squealed. "Oh my god! It's so cute! Can I hug it?"

"Sure!" Chiyo encouraged. "Pichu? Would you like to meet my sister?"

"Pi?" Pichu tilted its head and then jumped up into Mikoto's lap. Smiling, Mikoto scratched under its cheek and the Pokémon just melted in happiness.

"How are you doing that?" Chiyo gasped.

"Pikachu has the same weak spot," Mikoto explained.

While they were talking, Kuroko held up her Pokédex.

"Pichu, the Tiny Mouse Pokémon. A pre-evolved form of Pikachu. The electric sacs on Pichu's cheeks are small. If it tries to store more electricity than they can hold, Pichu will shock itself."

Shinx walked over and held out a paw to Pichu. Pichu nudged it with its cheek and a small spark came out. Electric Pokémon were known to share small bursts like that to greet each other. Both of them were rather young and their trainers were sisters, so they planned to get along.

"Ugh, this is boring." Shizuku groaned. "Mom, I'm heading out to explore. I know where the hotel is."

"Are you sure you don't want to stay with us a little longer?" Misuzu asked. "It's been so long since we've all been together."

"I'm not into all that touchy-feely stuff," the older girl scoffed. "I want some action. Let me see if any of the newbies here are any good. Maybe they'll wet their pants when they see me."

"Charming." Kuroko sighed.

Mikoto pursed her lips to avoid saying anything she might regret, but it was obvious she was annoyed. Shizuku hadn't been here for half a day and already was getting on her nerves. That girl always thought she was better than everyone else. Even when they were kids. Their mom was always making excuses for her like it was just a phase or she was stressed out from being a champion in some of the regions. To Mikoto, Shizuku was just the worst.

Chiyo was great and Mikoto was glad she wasn't influenced by their oldest sister. Kyoka… well, they didn't have much in common growing up, but they were cordial with each other. They did hang out time for time and liked Pokémon, but both of them had different goals. Which was fine, but it meant they weren't super close.

"You better be careful," Mikoto warned. "A lot of the students here are pretty strong. You might end up losing. Actually, go ahead. It will be entertaining to watch."

"What, think that boyfriend of yours is going to beat me?" Shizuku scoffed. "I saw your fight. He was practically fighting alone!"

"Shizuku!" Misuzu cut in. "That was uncalled for. Mikoto did a wonderful job and contributed equally to their team's victories."

"How are you so rude?!" Kuroko demanded, as her patience was pushed. It was becoming obvious why Mikoto didn't like her older sister. That girl was a jerk. Glancing over, Kuroko saw Mikoto glaring at Shizuku with her lips pursed tightly.

"Just calling it as I see it." The older girl replied unabashedly.

"Then how about I show you how good I am!" Mikoto finally couldn't take it anymore. "I'll make you eat those words."

"Oh?" Shizuku's eyes sparkled. "You want me to whoop your butt again?" She smacked a fist into her open palm. "I'm going to enjoy this."

"Come on you two, must you do this every time?!" Their mom asked exasperatedly.

"It's personal, Mom." Mikoto countered and turned to her older sister. "Follow me. There are some practice fields not too far away from here."

"I'm looking forward to this," The grin plastered on her face was not subtle. "Just like the old days."

"You two use to be so close." Misuzu sighed, following them while holding Chiyo's hand. Shinx and Pichu trotted along after them. Kuroko and Kyoka were the last to follow, Kuroko still reeling from how much animosity was between those two.

"Did they really use to get along?" Kuroko whispered to Kyoka. "It looks like they've always hated each other."

"They did," Kyoka replied. "We all were really close. Then Shizuku started her journey and turned out to be a prodigy. She would call home now and then, but due to her success, she started to get conceited. I… didn't like it. Neither did Mikoto."

"So it was just because she was good at being a trainer?" That didn't make any sense to Kuroko. Plenty of trainers traveled the world and were some of the nicest people you met. It shouldn't have been the Journey itself. Something had to have happened to the girl. "Did Shizuku-san ever mention what happened?"

"Nothing that would explain her behavior." Kyoka shrugged. "Mom's been trying to get her to cool it with her teasing, but it never lasts long. She's not home enough for anything to stick. The pressure must have gotten to her. After what happened with her, I'm definitely not keen on being a trainer. I'm just glad Mikoto's staying in Academy City and has some good friends. She hasn't changed at all."

For the first time, she smiled at Kuroko.

"T-Thanks," Kuroko muttered. "Onee-sama is my best friend and that's never going to change."

Mikoto said she and Kyoka may not have much in common, but her sister seemed to really care about her. Giving them some private time to catch up might be good for them. Kuroko could let them have a day without her. She had to train her Beedrill a bit after all.

"This good enough?" Mikoto asked once they arrived at the dirt field outlined in white lines. "Or do you want to see if we can find some stadium for you?"

"Depends how many people you want to see you lose," Shizuku replied with a short laugh. "But it's as good as place as any."

"If you two are really going to do this again, I'll act as a judge." Misuzu rubbed her nose and then tried to smile. "Show us how much the two of you have grown since last time."

"Good luck!" Chiyo called out, with Shinx and Pichu next to her. "Both of you do your best!"

Kuroko had to gush at how pure that girl was. Even with all the fighting, she still cheered them both on. Mikoto smiled at her sister and then grabbed the Pokeball at her side. Pikachu was her strongest Pokémon, but against her sister, there was another choice that may give her an edge. Shizuku knew all of Pikachu's moves from the tournament after all.

But she doesn't know Jolteon's.

There was a flash of light as her partner appeared.

"Jolteon!" The small Pokémon cried out, paying the ground.

"Huh, looks like you found some decent Pokémon," Shizuku commented amusedly. "I'll try not to beat you too badly though. Aww, who am I kidding? I'm not going to go easy on you." She tossed her own ball onto the field and her choice appeared in a flash of red light.

It was a bipedal, rodent-like Pokémon, covered in brown fur with a beige belly. Large yellow ears with an inner spiral toward the base and brown on the inside adorned its head. White markings were on its paws with bright yellow lines between its digits. The long tail ended in a lightning bolt with rounded edges. The Pokémon was riding its tail like a surfboard a couple of inches off the ground.

"I knew you would choose that," Mikoto yelled. "You always use him against me!"

"Isn't that why you copied me?" Shizuku retorted.

"That's a Raichu… but it's different," Kuroko muttered.

"That's the Alola form," Kyoka explained. "Unlike a normal Raichu, it has psychic abilities." Kuroko pulled out her Pokédex and held it up.

"Raichu, Alola Form. The Mouse Pokémon. An Electric and Psychic-type. Raichu manipulates electricity with its mind, and its psychic powers allow it to use its tail as transportation."

"Are both of you ready?" Misuzu asked and both of her daughters nodded. "Good. Remember though, this is a friendly battle and I won't tolerate any bad-mouthing each other. Do your best and try to have fun."

Mikoto wanted to point out any bad-mouthing would only be coming from Shizuku, but deliberately kept quiet as her mother waved for them to start.

"Why don't I let you start off?" Shizuku mocked. "You're the underdog here."

"You may regret that," Mikoto sneered. "Jolteon! Quick Attack!"

Jolteon darted forward at high speeds leaving a trail of light behind it. Raichu smirked, an expression it must have learned from its trainer, before gliding away at the last minute. Dodging a Quick Attack wasn't unusual in battle, especially the first one. It was an attack used to test the waters. Plus, with enough practice, a counterattack was possible. Jolteon's front paws hit the ground and it pushed off, changing its course instantly to charge into Raichu's back. Mikoto made a fist as it looked like it was about to make direct contact.

Then Raichu just floated lazily out of the way.

Not good.

Mikoto made a fist. Raichu was now a good six to seven feet in the air.

"Ugh, that Psychic power is so annoying!"

"That the best you got?" Shizuku's mocking voice rang out. "Come on. Do I even have to give Raichu orders?"

"Raichu!" The Pokémon was looking down at them and whatever it said seemed to annoy Jolteon, who growled back.

"Try this on for size!" Mikoto called out. "If it can move that easily, let's just use an attack it won't be able to dodge. Pin Missile!"

"Jolt-e-ooon!"

Jolteon's fur bristled and stood on end as hundreds of needles shot out in a barrage that was impossible to dodge by just flying around. Raichu shielded itself with its arms as the needles continued to pelt its skin. Pin Missile wasn't the strongest attack, but it could hit multiple times and damage built up. Plus, it had another benefit.

"A bug-type move, impressive," Misuzu commented. "It's super effective against Shizuku's Raichu." Psychic-types were weak to bug after all. If the Raichu had been a normal one, it wouldn't have been as effective. Mikoto really planned this out since she predicted correctly which Pokémon her sister was going to use.

"Onee-sama trains a lot to make sure all her Pokémon are versatile," Kuroko bragged. "She understands the drawbacks of only having electric-type Pokémon, but she's not going to let it stop her."

"But Pin Missile isn't a very strong attack." Kyoka reminded them.

As true as her words were, Raichu flew around on its tail like a hoverboard, not looking too damaged from Jolteon's attack.

"Guess you have some brains," Shizuku shrugged. "Not much power though. Raichu could take those weak hits all days." Raichu flexed its arms as it circled above Jolteon.

She's not wrong.

Mikoto hated to admit that to herself. Being a champion, and a ranker in other areas, Shizuku was skilled in her own right. The Raichu she used was her first partner. Honestly, when they were younger, Mikoto looked up to her. Now, they couldn't stand each other. All the times they battled, she had lost handily. No matter what strategy she came up with, it ended in her defeat. Her older sister was just that good.

But I'm not the same person I was back then.

Her time in Academy City had been tough, but also enjoyable. Mikoto had friends, rivals, and with every goal she achieved, a new one appeared. Fighting in tournaments had been her dream and they had been doing so well. Touma had taught her so much, even without knowing it. Raw power wasn't what won battles. There was more, much more, like the trust between the trainer and Pokémon.

It's time to show Shizuku what I can do!

"If they won't come down, then we'll make them!" Mikoto yelled to Jolteon. "Another round of Pin Missile."

A barrage of needles flew from Jolteon's fur, forcing Raichu to surf through the air faster to avoid them. Even if it acted like it wasn't affected, the damage was pilling up and an experienced fighter wouldn't willingly take too many hits.

"Knock those annoying pins out of the air with Thunder!" Shizuku ordered.

"Raaiii-chuuuu!"

Yellow electricity flowed around the mouse and exploded outwards. The force blew away the needles and the bolts continued, hitting the ground all around Jolteon. The sheer magnitude of raw power caused the ground to explode in a cloud of dust, engulfing the battlefield. Mikoto covered her face with one arm as she tried to watch the battlefield.

"As strong as ever," the girl muttered. "I'm not surprised." After facing so many trainers around the world, that Raichu was at an incredibly high level.

I bet Rampardos would love to fight it.

A smile found its way onto her face, cutting into the seriousness of defeating her sister. In a way, remembering the fun times she had with her mentor, helped put her at ease and made it easier to think. Shizuku noticed her expression as the dust began to clear.

"What's so funny?!"

"This," Mikoto replied. "Jolteon! Just like we've done before!"

There was no need for orders. All the times she had spared with Misaki, Touma, and Kuroko, dust clouds were a common sight when powerful attacks collided. Being able to use the environment to your advantage was something they quickly learned. If sight was obscured for them, it was obscured for their opponent. However, Raichu was up in the air, which limited the direction Jolteon had to aim.

A yellow blur burst out of the smoke followed by white light as Jolteon, shot out using Quick Attack. Raichu looked down and prepared to fight back as Shizuku was set to give a counter order. However, she had to say the order, while Mikoto did not. That small delay was the difference between night and day. In a battle, a single second was all it took to mean the difference between victory and defeat.

"Mega-…" Shizuku started to say but never had a chance to finish.

A black and purple ball appeared in front of Jolteon's mouth as it leaped into the air. Using the momentum from the Quick Attack, Jolteon closed in, even as Raichu tried to move away. Then, the ball of darkness fired at near point-blank.

"RAICHU!?"

The explosion of shadow energy knocked Raichu out of the sky, crashing into the ground. Jolteon rode the explosion backward and landed daintily on its feet.

"Jolt, Jolteon." Jolteon huffed smugly.

"Rai." The superior look on Raichu's face faded as it stood back up. "Raichu, chu." It actually looked angry.

"So we're going to play it that way?" Shizuku growled. "Fine then. The kiddy gloves are coming off."

"Someone's upset they are about to lose to a new trainer." Mikoto mocked, enjoying the momentary feeling of pulling one over on her sister.

Shadow Ball was super effective against Psychic-types. It was one of the many reasons Mikoto taught it to Jolteon. The versatility Joteon had would surprise trainers and could do more damage before they even figured out what had happened. Since it was obvious Shizuku would use Raichu, Mikoto chose one of her best fighters that had multiple attacks that had the advantage. Some might argue it wasn't fair, but in Pokémon battles, trainers loved to use types that would give them the upper hand against others.

"Pin Missile!" Mikoto called out.

"Dig!"

Shizuku's command was almost instantaneous in response, along with Raichu's reaction. Even firing high-speed needles over the area, Raichu already dove into the earth. The attack missed completely and clattered onto the ground before vanishing.

"Not good," Mikoto muttered, looking around. On the field, Jolteon was imitating her action, trying to figure out where Raichu would pop out of. Dig was a ground attack, so it was going to be super effective if it hit. "Focus and listen! Dodge the moment it emerges."

"Jolt."

Jolteon closed its eyes and listened with its body and ears. Feeling the earth begun to shake likely, hairs began to shiver. Right when the ground cracked beneath it, Jolteon dove to the side as Raichu burst up from the ground.

"Mega Punch!" Shizuku ordered. In a show of skill, Raichu moved straight from the Dig to pulling its arm back, fist glowing, before propelling itself at Jolteon. The fist made contact, sending the smaller Pokémon flying.

"Jolteon!" Mikoto gasped but sighed in relief as Jolteon landed on its feet. Jolteon was panting, but otherwise, it looked okay. "Phew." Being hit by a normal Mega Punch was better than dig. The only reason Shizuku had Raichu keep that move is you should never underestimate close combat. "Pin Missile!"

"Psychic."

The needles Jolteon let loose froze in midair as light purple energy surrounded them. Raichu's eyes were glowing as it unleashed the attack. Mikoto couldn't believe how strong that power was. Stopping all the needles was one thing, controlling them was another. Shizuku shook her head and held out a hand.

"Go ahead and return them, Raichu. We don't need them."

"Raiichuuuu!" Raichu swung its arms down and the needles moved in the opposite direction.

"Dodge!"

In Jolteon's defense, it tried, but there was nowhere to do to avoid the attack. The downside to throwing so many. Jolteon gritted its teeth as the needles peppered it as it ran to the right. Unlike Raichu, Jolteon was a pure electric-type, so the attack wasn't super effective. It still hurt though.

"Shadow Ball!" Mikoto ordered. At least the dark energy wouldn't be stopped by a Psychic.

"Thunder!" Shizuku countered.

Powerful electrical blasts shot from Raichu to meet the purple and black ball Jolteon created. The two energy attacks created a large explosion in the middle of the arena, leaving a small crater behind. Both Pokémon were still on their feet, but Jolteon was panting heavily.

I knew Raichu was strong, but it was hit multiple times with super-effective moves. It should be feeling… something.

Mikoto knew types weren't everything, but a champion's Pokémon was a completely different level, even if that champion was her sister.

"Psychic."

That moment of distraction cost her. Raichu's eyes began to glow and Jolteon found itself floating into the air, surrounded by a light purple glow.

"Jolteon, Jolt!" The Pokémon tried to struggle, but it was useless. Physical strength wasn't going to break this psychic hold.

"Thunder Shock!" Mikoto called out frantically. "Aim right in front of Raichu!"

Yellow electricity crackled in the air as it flew toward the rodent Pokémon from Jolteon's body. Thunder Shock wasn't the most powerful electric-type attack, but it was the first one Jolteon learned after evolving. Electricity wouldn't do much against another electric Pokémon, but the ground beneath them wasn't completely solid.

The force of the discharge caused the ground to detonate, pelting Raichu with shrapnel. Raichu had to cover its face with its arms, but the annoyance wasn't enough to make it lose concentration. Jolteon was then slammed against the ground, causing the Pokémon to cry out in pain.

"Jolteon!" Mikoto knew her partner couldn't last much longer. "Shadow Ball!"

"Dig."

Shizuku's voice was calm, yet still had a trace of amusement. She knew she was close to victory. The ball of dark energy passed over Raichu as it once again dove into the ground. As Jolteon tried to right itself, Raichu burst out right under it. The larger rodent smashed into the small quadruped and sent it flying. Jolteon cried out as it hit the ground, bounced a couple of times, before skidding to a stop.

"Are you okay?" Mikoto cried, rushing out onto the field.

Misuzu looked at Jolteon, noticing the spirals in its eyes.

"Jolteon is unable to battle," she declared. "Raichu is the winner."

"As expected." Shizuku declared as Raichu raised its fist in victory. Her eyes traveled onto her partner and noticed it had taken quite a bit of damage. More than she had expected. "Return." She held out the ball and her Pokémon vanished in a flash of red light.

"You did great," Mikoto whispered, returning Jolteon back into its ball. "You deserve a nice long rest. That was an impressive fight. Be proud of your effort."

"You've improved so much!" Mikoto found herself being hugged tightly by her mother. "I'm amazed at how strong you've become in such a short time. Hasn't she, Shizuku?"

"I… suppose she's not completely incompetent." The older girl muttered. "Still nowhere near my level."

"That's her way of complimenting others," Kyoka whispered to Kuroko.

"I still don't like her," Kuroko replied just as quietly.

"Both of you are so strong!" Chiyo exclaimed, rushing out onto the field. "You were like, 'pew pew' and she was like 'dodge and punch!' It was so much fun to watch."

"Thanks, Chiyo." Mikoto messed with her hair, earning some complaints mixed with laughter. "Shizuku is strong, but I'll beat her next time."

"Shinx!" Mikoto held out her arms as Shinx leaped onto them.

"Even Shinx agrees."

"In your dreams!" There was no way her older sister would take that lying down.

"Now that you two got your competition out of the way for now, how about Mikoto and Shirai-san show us around town?" Misuzu suggested. "There's so much to see."

"Only if she can show me where the real trainers hang out," Shizuku whispered loudly. "Maybe where her boyfriend hangs out. He might put up a challenge."

"He's not my boyfriend!?" Mikoto shouted. "He's a friend and a mentor through the school program."

"Yeah, Onee-sama is for me only-…ow!" Kuroko knelt down as Mikoto hit her head.

"I'm sure Mikoto can introduce us to her boyfriend some other time," Misuzu assured her.

"You aren't listening!" Mikoto complained.

"Is your boyfriend nice?" Chiyo asked curiously as her Pichu next to her titled its head imitating its trainer.

"He is-… but he's not my boyfriend." The embarrassed girl almost got tricked.

"He really isn't," Kuroko at least backed her up. "The ape-… Kamijou-san actually is seeing another girl in Onee-sama's class."

Kuroko lied a bit there, but it was important to separate those two and get her family to like her. She did feel guilty as Mikoto rounded on her angrily. Misaki was her rival and Mikoto didn't take that lightly.

"We did hear his name during the tournament," Misuzu confirmed and then patted Mikoto's shoulder. "I'm just teasing you, dear. If he's only a friend, that's fine. Boys and girls can be just friends, no matter what the internet tells you."

"Oh, it's a one-sided crush is it?" Shizuku said laughing.

"I hate you!" Mikoto snapped.

"I kind of see why you stay out of this," Kuroko whispered with her hand covering her mouth to Kyoka.

"They just need to calm down their rivalry a little bit," Kyoka sighed. "I love them both, but it's tiring." There was a shadow of a smile on her face. "Both of them at least accepted my dreams, so I want to support them too, just not… this." She gestured to Mikoto and Shizuku arguing.

"I noticed the battle and came to see what was going on, imagine my surprise seeing you here."

The group turned to see a single white-haired boy leaning against a pole.

"Is that… Accelerator?" Everyone but Mikoto exclaimed in shock.

"The one and only." Came the sarcastic response.

"What are you doing here?!" Mikoto snapped, instantly on guard.

"I just told you, but since it's you, maybe you can help me?" Accelerator walked toward them, unabashed. "As thanks for the advice you seemed to have taken, along with the stone." Mikoto's eyes narrowed. "Tell me where your boyfriend is."

"He's not my boyfriend!"

Mikoto was getting frustrated at everyone. So much so, she was unaware of her family and Kuroko staring at her as she talked to the world champion like a normal person. None of them knew she had encountered him before.

Dark: Wishez is my beta who keeps asking if he'll get to review the next chapter of this story. When I know people are looking forward to the next chapter, I try to finish.
