A/N: Alright, kyle77776 I do like the class of Umbramancer even though I didn't know what it was but I've read up on it and might consider adding it. Everyone else, thank you so much for the reviews.

The guards looked disheveled, and while there were a few injuries no one was dead, thankfully enough.

Suzuki explained in a few sentences what had happened back in the graveyard as one of them, probably the captain, made a report.

"You'll find the bodies of the two responsible for this incident there," Suzuki said. "Now, if it's fine, we'd like to return this young man to his family."

They asked for an address to contact them later, and with that Suzuki and Albedo were free to go.

Suzuki heard the whispers of the guards.

"Did you see that angel? Did these two summon it?"

"Never seen any angel like that before. Must be a powerful priest."

"They took down thousands of undead... are you sure they aren't adventurers?"

"If they are, do you think they're Orichalcum... no, maybe even Adamantite?"

Suzuki and Albedo pressed on back to Nfirea's house.

"Ah! Nfirea!" Lizzie exclaimed. She had dark bags under her eyes showing that she hadn't slept a wink.

"There's some spell on him- I think it's related to the item on his head," Suzuki said. "I think you should take him to the temples or to the Magician's Guild. Albedo, you don't mind carrying him there, do you?"

"If it is an order from the Great One then I cannot refuse," Albedo replied flatly.

They dropped Nfirea off and then returned to the inn they were staying at.

Rather than go to sleep, Suzuki instead spent the time analyzing the items they managed to find.

The wands and scrolls were of low tier spells yet were useful nonetheless for someone of Suzuki's level, and there were items both for enhancing and fighting against undead.

While they took stock of what might be important, Suzuki was also shifting through the spells he knew.

Given that he was level twenty-nine, he could learn three spells per level, in other words, eighty-seven.

Currently however, he only knew a total of thirty. Clearly he had to do something to learn more spells. In Yggdrasil this was usually accomplished by reading certain tomes, beating certain bosses, or skills such as Dark Wisdom, though he wasn't sure how it was done in this world.

As a matter of fact, there were certain spells that he realized were in his reach if only he committed to them, much like his levels.

For example, he could use spell slots to learn Summon Monster or Summon Undead at the first tier each, and most likely subsequent higher tiers would automatically present themselves to him.

While he could devote himself to learning spells in both of the lines, from experience in Yggdrasil, he knew that it was most efficient to commit oneself to summoning one type of monster, especially with a three hundred spell cap he currently had. He therefore chose to devote his spell slots completely to the Summon Undead line, learning Summon Undead 1st. This automatically made a new spell appear, Summon Undead 2nd that he could add to his repertoire, confirming his hypothesis.

Try as he might though, Suzuki could not "unlearn" Summon Undead 1st meaning it was true that he had to be very careful with using his spell slots, much like back in Yggdrasil.

In the end, he learned the spell series up to Summon Undead 5th, which was the second fifth tier spell he now knew, the other being Teleportation which he had been granted automatically by leveling up.

He skipped on learning most of the other spells like those that created water, spices, paper, and the like, viewing them as wastes.

He did however, take anti-divination spells, though they were not of the quality that he knew of as Momonga. He cast some of them and concluded no one was watching them- though his spells would only detect low levelled divination magic. If anyone tried spying on them with a higher tier spell he would not be able to block it, unless he levelled up some more, got higher tier spells, or a combination of both. It was actually be even better to get items that blocked divination so he could save on some of his spell slots.

At the end, he had now committed fifty-two spells to his spell slots, leaving some open in case they were needed at some other time.

Just as he was done with the inventory and his spell selection, there was a knock at the door.

An employee nervously opened the door, "Ah, Suzuki-dono, you have been summoned to the Adventurer's Guild as soon as possible. It is from Pansolei-sama himself."

Suzuki was tired, but had been expecting this. "Very well. We will be going there immediately."

Suzuki took a few minutes to wash the sleep out of his eyes, and Albedo worked to clean her armor. Thankfully high quality armor seemed to be extremely resistant to bloodstains and cleaned easily.

As they had been to the place only a few days earlier, it was easy for them to find it again.

Suzuki opened the door and went up to reception. Immediately heads turned to them, mainly because everyone probably remembered how Albedo had nearly destroyed the place not four days ago.

"Ah, I believe I have been called here?" Suzuki said, ignoring the glares pointed his way.

"Uh, indeed, let me just check for a minute," the receptionist said, bowed, and then ran upstairs.

She came back two minutes later saying, "The Guildmaster and Panasolei-sama are expecting you."

The two were led to a room on the second floor, whereupon Suzuki saw four people gathered inside.

One was a very obese man with a bald head dressed in fancy clothes.

Another was a well-built but old man who was sizing the two of them from head to toe.

One was a painfully skinny person with a staff, clearly a magic caster.

One was Lizzie, who had a wide smile on her face after seeing Suzuki. "Welcome, Suzuki-dono," she said. The bags under her eyes were gone- but she couldn't have possibly gotten any substantial sleep in the time they parted ways- it was barely past noon!

"Good day, my name is Pluton Ainzach," the well-built man said and shook hands with Suzuki. He had a firm grip. "I am the Guildmaster of this chapter of the Adventurer's Guild."

"I am Theo Rakheshir," the thin mage said. "Guildmaster of the Magician's Guild."

"Good morning, I am Panasolei Gruze Day Rettenmaier, but please refer to me as Panasolei," the fat man said. He also made a very strange noise while talking, which made Suzuki wonder if the man was asthmatic. But if he was- surely that could be fixed with magic?

Normally, as the mayor of the city and a titled noble, Panasolei should not have been the last to introduce himself, though he was not one to abide by such traditions.

Albedo had said nothing and stood in the corner.

"This is my companion, Albedo," Suzuki said. The four people acknowledged her with a small tilt of their heads, but Albedo was as unmoving as a statue.

"Ah, do please take a seat, Suzuki-san and Albedo-san," Panasolei said and motioned to a chair. "We have already heard events from Lizzie-dono here, but I would like a full report, and to ask you some questions, if you don't mind?"

"No issue," Suzuki said. He then went into a detailed account of what happened at the graveyard.

Ainzach frowned. "Did you say that there was a woman along with the magic caster? We didn't find any other bodies aside from his."

Suzuki had a dumbfounded look on his face. "W-what? That's impossible, she was there!" The others looked towards Albedo as if expecting her to support Suzuki's story. All she said was, "Indeed that is how it happened."

"Nfirea also mentioned a woman," Lizzie said.

"Oh, I forgot, is he alright?" Suzuki asked.

"A bit shaken, but he's fine," Lizzie said. "They had to destroy that crown on his head though to fix him up. Some of them even said it was a shame to destroy it- but I put their heads on straight! He should be better once rested, though he kept muttering about a woman in his sleep as if he was having a nightmare..."

This added quite some credibility to their statement.

"Ah, well, it is possible that the body was taken away in the time you left and we went to investigate," Ainzach said. "Though for what purpose I can't imagine..."

"I have a question," Rakheshir asked. "You are a magic caster, are you not, Suzuki-san?"

"Indeed," Suzuki said.

"If you do not mind, which tier of magic are you capable of using?" Rakheshir asked.

Suzuki wondered if he should answer honestly- he felt like saying he had gone from the first to fifth tier overnight was not something he should do- therefore he should stick with one number. Given that a crystal that could use seventh tier magic existed, saying he could use fifth tier magic should not be too problematic.

"The fifth tier," Suzuki said. As he said this, Rakehshir nearly jumped out of his seat and Ainzach's jaw dropped. Lizzie, while she looked surprised initially, now had an expression that said "I should have expected as such" right then.

Suzuki didn't understand why this had such a big reaction- was the fifth tier truly so rare in this world?

"I see," Rakheshir said.

Suzuki couldn't help but let a yawn escape him at this point- he had been awake for a long time.

"Ah, I'm sorry- it looks like we haven't given Suzuki-san the proper time to rest," Panasolei said while rubbing his neck. "I do apologize, Suzuki-san, but only a few questions more, and you will be free to take the rest you so truly deserve. It is rather important we grasp the details of this incident."

"It is no issue," Suzuki said, trying to fight the sleep from his eyes. He had not even had time for breakfast, and as such, was hungry as well, though he tried his best to not let it show.

Albedo, however, was clearly getting agitated at this, but thankfully, before she could cause a ruckus, Lizzie intervened by taking out a bottle with a greenish liquid.

"Take this, young'in," she said. "Gets rid of fatigue for up to forty minutes- it'll set you up right faster than coffee."

Suzuki was a bit hesitant to take this strange potion, though Lizzie was very unlikely to want to kill him, but she did have a mischievous air about her. He now regretted not buying the Ring of Unicorn earlier.

He gulped it down and felt a strange fire in his belly and the fatigue vanish. He still felt hungry though.

"Ah, with that said, if I may ask, just what are the two of you?" Ainzach asked. "Are you perhaps workers?"

Suzuki blinked. "I'm not familiar with that term."

The other four members present all had looks on their faces that clearly showed they were thinking "What? How does he not even know that?" though they all brushed them aside very hastily. "Workers are adventurers that aren't affiliated with the guild," Ainzach thing. "Kind of a darker, black market version of adventurers."

"Ah, no, that we are not" Suzuki said.

Ainzach tapped his chin. "I believe I received a report on the two of you a few days earlier about some sort of commotion..." He had not been about to bring this up, but the receptionist had told him about the incident before calling the two upstairs. As such, he was mildly curious as to what happened.

"Indeed," Suzuki said, now embarrassed. "I must apologize."

Ainzach waved his hand. "It wasn't a big issue apparently since no full report was filed, but I did here rumors. I would like to hear from your own mouth what happened though."

"The two of us had come to register as adventurers," Suzuki said. "But we were unable to as... uh, we come from a foreign nation... so this country's script is alien to us... we failed the... literacy test." Suzuki was quite embarrassed to say this and so his words came out in short spurs. He didn't want people thinking the two of them were completely illiterate. "Albedo here almost threw a bit of a fit, though she calmed down, and there was no damage to property or life... though I do say my apologies again..."

"No, no, no," Ainzach said with a wide smile that unnerved Suzuki- right while he was expecting to be reprimanded, he was instead greeted with a smile. Why was that? "As a matter of fact I can understand Albedo-san's, no, Albedo-dono's anger. That is a rather silly little rule, I think, particularly for individuals of your caliber. If you should wish it, Suzuki-dono, based on your exploits, I will gladly enlist you within our ranks- and also grant you the rank of Mithril. Merely give me a day- no, two days to fix up the paperwork."

Panasolei raised his eyebrows, though neither Lizzie nor Rakheshir seemed to find this odd.

"T-Truly?" Suzuki asked, unable to believe his ears. "If that is so, we would gladly accept."

"Well, welcome aboard then," Ainzach said and offered Suzuki his hand which Suzuki shook. Albedo did nothing when Ainzach offered it to her and Ainzach had the feeling she was looking at his hand as if it were covered in grime. "I have no further questions."

"Additionally, magic casters are required to register with the Magician's Guild," Rakheshir said. "But, I have no problem drawing up the paperwork myself- and I'll even waive your registration fee. You two simply need to sign, which you may do tomorrow evening, or whenever it is convenient for the two of you."

"Ah, you have my thanks," Suzuki said.

"So if there are any other questions, we may wrap this up?" Panasolei said.

"None here," Rakheshir said.

"None here," Lizzie said.

"Well then, I should thank you all for coming here, and for your grand service, Suzuki-san and Albedo-san," Panasolei said. "I have no further questions, and I think you should go and receive your well-deserved rest, Suzuki-san."

"Ah, thank you," Suzuki said.

"One last thing though," Panasolei said. "May I see the face of your companion?"

Albedo removed her helmet, and while the other four were momentarily stunned by her beauty they had nothing else to say, so Albedo put her helmet back on and left along with Suzuki.

Once the two were gone, discussion sprang forth among the four members of the room.

"Ainzach-dono, why did you so readily recruit those two? And that too straight to Mithril?" Panasolei asked.

"Because he is a fifth tier magic caster," Ainzach responded.

"Ah, forgive me, I know that Rakheshir-dono here is a third tier caster, but how strong exactly is the fifth tier?" Panasolei asked. People such as him had only a rudimentary understanding of magic.

"A fourth tier magic caster is well within the Orichalcum rank automatically," Ainzach explained. "One who is very well versed with fourth tier magic might even be called Adamantite- as such a fifth tier magic caster is almost definitely an Adamantite."

Panasolei's eyes widened as he understood the implications of that statement. "In that case, is it not more likely that he is lying about his capabilities?"

Lizzie frowned at this accusation, and Rakheshir piped up. "Based on our reports of the incident at the graveyard, the presence of a Skeletal Dragon was confirmed, and it was mentioned by Suzuki-san himself. It would take a Platinum ranked team at minimum to take on a Skeletal Dragon, and another Platinum ranked team to deal with the massive number of undead that had appeared. This is at the bare minimum. In short, each one of those two is equivalent to a full Platinum ranked team by themselves."

Ainzach nodded. The two of them had once been on the same team, and as such they could almost read each other's thoughts at times. "As such, it is likely that each of them is equivalent to at least an Orichalcum ranked adventurer."

"However, there is another possibility, though," Panasolei asked. "The angel that he mentioned summoning- he said he did so with a magic item. The guards also saw a powerful angelic creature- does that not mean that their success could be due to a powerful magic item?"

"The angel in question was one that cast magic spells, in short, its physical skills should have been weak," Ainzach said. "As such, there is no way even the highest tier of angles the priests can summon can bypass the immunity of a Skeletal Dragon. Not to mention summoned creatures through items tend to be weaker than those summoned through actual spells. Therefore, we can conclude that the woman was capable of fighting a Skeletal Dragon on her own, which is no small feat."

"In addition," Rakheshir said, "they also had to fight the magic caster powerful enough to control a Skeletal Dragon, as well as a woman capable of completely wiping out a Silver ranked adventurer team on her own. Based on the description of the plates she wore, she seems to be quite strong. And yet the two had no wounds as they left the place, and since none of them knew healing magic... although a healing item is a possibility, the fact remains that it would be difficult indeed to fight the magic caster and that woman along with the Skeletal Dragon and the mass of the undead... it seems a bit impossible with only two people..."

Suddenly, his eyes widened. "Ah! I think I get it now!"

Ainzach raised an eyebrow. "Oh? What is it?"

"I think I can understand how he did it now," Rakheshir said. "At minimum, I would say that Suzuki-san must be a fourth tier magic caster. However, if he is a fifth tier magic caster, he would be able to cast the spell Teleportation using which he could bypass the Skeletal Dragon entirely and take the magic caster by surprise, finish him off, and they would then fight the woman two on one while the angel handled the other undead." He had a smile as someone might have after solving a Rubix cube. "Indeed, that would explain quite easily how they accomplished such a feat, if one assumes that he is a fifth tier magic caster, everything begins to make some sense. So his claim is most likely true."

"Ah, does a spell like Teleport exist?" Panasolei asked. "That is quite frightening..."

"It has a risk of misfiring, and can only be used up to certain distances, if the texts I read were correct," Rakheshir said. "As such, even though it is a gamble, one could use it in combat like that."

"I understand then," Panasolei said. "Still, will it be really alright for the Guildmaster to promote someone that fast?"

"It shouldn't be an issue," Ainzach said. "I think if we are right, the two will very soon reach Adamantite rank. No one questions adventurers of that rank." Plus, Ainzach could now gain easy favor with a future Adamantite team- he would even fudge the records to say they had passed their literacy test if that was what it took to bring them into his fold. No one would want such people to go ahead and become workers or the sort, so it was imperative that they were brought into his fold as soon as possible.

"One thing strikes me as odd though," Panasolei said. "Why did those two come to this nation in the first place? The script of our nation and that of the Empire are the same, so we can rule that out. If they were from the Slane Theocracy would they not have three names then? Are they perhaps criminals? Should we send spies after them?"

"I would consider that to be a risky move," Ainzach answered. "It is possible they have magic items that can sense divination or see through Thief-type class skills. It would be a big mistake to make enemies of them, and if they turned against us it would not be possible for us to apprehend them if they really are that strong, especially if they can teleport."

"Understood, I will put trust in your expertise," Panasolei said. None of the others seemed to disagree with what Ainzach had said. "Do please try to find out more about them, if you can."

"I will ask my contacts in the surrounding countries," Ainzach said.

"As will I," Rakheshir said.

"You both have my thanks. Well then, I believe this meeting is concluded then," Panasolei said.

"Indeed," Ainzach said.

One Month Later...

"I think it's coming now, Suzuki-sama," Albedo said.

The two of them had been tasked with slaying a monster known as a Gigant Basilisk, which had appeared near a village which had earlier been overtaken by goblins. Such a task would normally be reserved for those of the Adamantite rank, but once given the knowledge that the monster was on a rampage, Suzuki and Albedo had set out to slay it.

The Gigant Basilisk was a huge eight legged snake, which was being lured to them by Albedo's War Bicorn Lord.

"You should stay back, Suzuki-sama," Albedo said. Creatures like Gigant Basilisk had extremely poisonous body fluids- and even Suzuki's recently acquired Ring of Unicorn wouldn't save him from such kind of poison. That said, while fighting such a monster, it would be a standard strategy to strike it with powerful spells from afar. Any warrior would normally be at a major disadvantage, especially someone like Albedo who relied on close combat.

That would be of course, in case they did not possess an item that completely negated poison like Albedo did.

As a safety precaution however, Suzuki activated a magic item that he had gotten from Khajiit's hideout- Amulet of the Skeleton Mage. It allowed one to cast the spell Undead Form on themselves- which granted the target the abilities of an undead- as well as all the weaknesses. It could only be used twice per day, but it did save Suzuki from having to use one of his spell slots, so it was valuable in that way.

"Dragon Lightning," Suzuki said and cast the spell which struck the fleeing monster. The Bicorn had stopped running at it now, and the monster now glared at Suzuki. This would normally have been dangerous with its paralytic gaze, but since he was considered undead for the time being this had no effect on him.

Albedo then wrestled the monster down and trapped its head under her arm. "Please do go ahead and damage him, Suzuki-sama."

Suzuki was a bit reluctant to cast magic as it could hit Albedo, but whenever a situation like that arose Albedo always said, "It is no problem, Suzuki-sama! I would gladly take damage if it would help you!"

Thing was that friendly fire seemed to be turned on in this world, but as it was, a fifth tier spell couldn't do much to Albedo anyway, so Suzuki considered that it might be fine for now.

He kept casting Dragon Lightning as the monster became more and more agitated, spraying poisonous spit everywhere, getting it all over Albedo's armor, though this had no effect on her.

Finally, it was defeated, and the XP allowed Suzuki to go from having thirty-six levels just before the battle to having thirty-seven now. He assigned his latest level to Necromancy and was able to gain the spell Summon Undead 6th for his troubles. His stat sheet now looked like:

Mage 15 lv

Battle Mage 7 lv

Sorcerer 4 lv

Necromancer 9 lv

Umbramancer 1 lv

Total: 0 racial + 36 job = 36 levels

As was before, he kept one level unassigned in case he would need it sometime later on. He had managed to gain several levels over the course of completing missions over the past month, and had also learned some more spells like Dragon Lightning.

Now that he had ascended into the sixth tier, the number of humans capable of using that tier of magic in the continent shot up from four to five. He was still rather weak as he only a single sixth tier spell, not to mention the fact that his items were not very good was compounded by his lack of experience. As such, he was still weaker than both Evileye and Fluder, not that he knew of either of those two.

When the two of them returned the the guild, they were met with shocked faces as it was nearly unbelievable that only two people were able to take down a monster which would normally require an entire Adamantite team to tackle.

With that, Ainzach had no doubts at all that his initial gamble had been worth it, and with this mission complete, Suzuki and Albedo were given two Admantite plates the very next day.

A/N: So that's it for now folks! Events in the one month time skip might be referenced at times, but I decided to skip it as I thought that it wasn't really important, and I can now write another part of the story that I'm a bit more excited for. Undead Form, for those wondering, is an actual spell mentioned in the Evileye side story.
