Why hello everyone, what a long Hiatus. I needed a long break to revamp my writing skills, it was complete shit years ago. I am rewriting the story Vengeance will be updating at hopefully a nice pace. Please be patient and I really hope you enjoy the story.
Hinata for the most part will be out of character a little after the first four or five chapters, it really determines how long I want it to take for her to have a mental breakdown and psychotic episode. An advanced warning, this will get a little gory and dark, very very dark later on in the story. So if you want to stick around for that continue reading my story! I'm always open to suggestions also, so if you have any good ones, just let me know.
JULY 3RD 2021 UPDATE: Hello all! I am updating Vengeance because I was really bothered by the giant paragraphs and grammar errors so I wanted to fix the major issues that I had found. Also I read several reviews and have decided that yes...this should be rated M even though there is a separate story with the lemons. I will be combining all of that into this Vengeance story so it will flow better. So the story is completed, you will just see chapters updated and the lemons joined into the story. ALSOOOOO, I have a new story named 'Choices' coming out soon. Next few days. So be on the look out for that! See you all later!
He didn't really know how everything got to this point. Them all in the Hokage office, sitting there bruised and battered up. Neji and Choji was seriously injured, Shikamaru broken, Kiba hurt and himself…he was everything they were and then some mentally. How could the teme do this, he was his brother without blood, they lived such similar lifestyles since the massacre and yet…they went such opposite paths.
How could it have gotten to this point, why couldn't he see, why couldn't Sasuke just SEE. Now they were all sitting here in grannys office, trying to make sense of why they were here so soon from the failed mission and why was Sakura, Hinata, and Ino the main people called in.
The blonde busty woman sat staring at the new generation before her. Such strength in this room, such strength that will soon develop in due time. Sending Genin to a retrieval mission of this caliber when it deals with Orochimaru, Sound and a marked deranged Uchiha Sasuke was never the brightest idea.
Especially when such emotional ties were connected between everyone in the mission.
Kurenai an very ideal woman, a genjutsu prodigy, level headed jonin and better, no emotional ties to that fucking Uchiha Sasuke. Not even her students felt anything to that hellion. That and the fact that Tsuande was a strong supporter of women's lib she confronted the young female jonin to see if this was something she thought she was up to.
Kurenai agreed, she wanted to bring Hinata along. Tsuande thought this wasn't the best idea, especially considering the last botched mission consisted on majority Genin.
"He has no clue who Hinata is, Hinata has been excellent hiding in the shadows so she just so happens to know a lot more about Uchiha Sasuke than everyone thinks. Not on the level of his many admirers, but just…things like his weaknesses, his many strengths and things of that nature. She is good at surprising people and in that can result in them misjudging her at the wrong moment."
Aww yes, Kurenai was very proud of her student. Despite her many faults. Tsunade eyed the Hyuga heiress unreservedly. There must be something that Kurenai sees in this girl, shit, there must be something she herself sees in her as well for her to have agreed to it.
"I wanted team seven, eight, ten and Guy here to discuss this retrieval mission of Sasuke."
There were confused looks of young adults throughout the room, and shocked realization faces of Jonin.
"I am not speaking of the mission that just took place and was, I'll just say it, a total fucking shit show. I shouldn't have rushed things. Shikamaru was correct, a Jonin should have been sent on this mission. However, we are still in the fucked-up situation of being understaff and trying to rebuild after that Orochimaru-teme did his damage."
She scans the room again and she briefly looks at Asuma and then drifts her attention to Kurenai and she can practically feel the air thicken by the Jonin in the room. "Kurenai will be the jonin on this mission, she meets qualifications that I think will suit this mission. Kurenai has made a special request to bring Hyuga Hinata…and I am making the last-minute decision to bring Ino Yamanaka."
Kurenai was a bit surprised by the last-minute team add in but understood the logic. This mission was about using stealth and the least amount of brute force possible, a mind walker would be perfect.
"With all due respect Hokage-sama, but I just don't, I don't understand. There is no chemistry what so ever with this set up. Hinata doesn't know Ino, she doesn't even know the Uchiha kid. Plus, I'm pretty sure the last thing the head of the Hyuga clan wants is his unmarked daughter leaving the gates to Sound."
Asuma didn't really want to be the one to start this all off, it was rather a drag really. He had faith in Kurenai, 100%. She is a Jonin and a damn good one. Her student, however, wasn't someone he felt like he could put in the trust category right now. Her shy demeanor was almost painful and scary to observe knowing she was a ninja. Plus, his own student that, he would admit to having personal ties with was going on this mission. Someone INFACTUATED with Sasuke, that would be worse than sending Sakura. He was scared for the two genin females.
"If I was to die in combat, my Byakugan will be sealed because I have the curse mark. Hinata-sama…this is not the case for you." Neji said this with no malice in his voice, it was just a point he wanted to point out, Hinata was kidnapped before for her eyes, it could easily happen again and no Hyuga would be there to save her.
"I-I….I know that." Hinata took a deep breath to steady her breathing and not babble and stumble on the little words she said.
"I-I c-c-can…I can guarantee that the only way someone will steal a Hyuga's eyes Hokage-sama is if they are in a good enough condition to steal them. If I have the t-tragedy of d-d-dying…my body including my eyes would be mangled beyond repair because that is what would be needed to stop me…I…I will not give up without the best fight I can give, I promise you that Hokage-same. And Neji-nisan."
Everyone in the room paused, that was the most probably anyone in that room aside from Kurenai has heard from the quiet, reserved heir.
But to some that wasn't enough.
"Hokage-sama, I don't understand either. Sasuke was on team seven, should we not have that right?" Sakura was beyond confused. Why was she called here with Naruto if neither of them was going on said mission? Wouldn't she be one of the first people chosen for this second retrieval mission?
"Team Seven had their chance, several times. It is not working. Sasuke has given into that curse mark and all the benefits it and Orochimaru are giving him. From reading his file, kindness is not something that causes him into submission. Love does not cause someone like him to listen Sakura. Vengeance is what is on his mind, all day and all night. He is not with Orochimaru for shits and giggles, he's not with him because he wants a parent figure in his life. He defected and LEFT his comrades and FAMILY for vengeance. Listen and listen well, the ONLY reason I am pushing this because in my eyes he is a traitor. This is disgusting what he has done. I want him punished and then and only then will I consider rehabilitation."
The woman before them was seething at that point, one little grunt could cause such a freaking mess. This fucking child was causing all kinds of chaos. People almost dying. People suffering all for this ungrateful blinded child.
Naruto for the most part was quiet. He was emotionally drained really. He was tired. He wanted Sasuke back just as much as the other members of Team Seven, but man was he just so TIRED.
He couldn't see this ending well at all, he did not think Hinata or Ino could subdue Sasuke. He wanted to believe they could, but he just couldn't. That and the fact Sasuke was pretty much armored with Orochimaru's people, especially that Kabuto. Kurenai couldn't possibly handle all of them and leave Hinata and Ino with Sasuke.
He didn't understand any of this logic. He had to speak up, this wasn't safe at all, "I agree with Sakura-"
"Yes, well where is the shocker in that. I did not bring everyone in here to ask for your opinion. I was informing you. I was doing a favor and now my patience is over. You are all dismissed, except Kurenai and your team. Stay and we will discuss more about the mission assignment." Her voice was final and left no room for argument, the room quickly emptied out with the exception of the three females told to stay.
They stayed outside, Hinata could feel all their presence she didn't need her bloodline to see that. Literally they all stayed, she did not feel the need for everyone to have stayed, it really just added more pressure and doubt on her.
She was very familiar with the term anxiety and this was it.
She felt Ino grip her shoulder and when she looked at her she actually felt a little better, surprisingly Ino's smile was refreshing. Why was Ino smiling, why was she so refreshing? Didn't she see the high death rate this mission possessed, why was she so calm?
"It is okay to worry Hinata. I'm not exactly streaming courage over here, but I want to go. I weirdly enough, think this is doable. The way it was explained and how we will have a different approach, I believe this can be a success."
Hinata couldn't help but frown at the optimism, "It will have negatives to it, we will not come out of this unharmed Yamanaka-san."
Yes, the briefing made it seem achievable. However, in Hinata's eyes, the experienced eyes, nothing in life was easy.
"Nothing is easy Hinata. We know this. Put on your big girl shoes and take the negative. You would if it was Naruto. Before you start the judgement that I am doing this just because it has something to do with Sasuke, I am not. I almost lost my team because of Sasuke. Some things cannot be forgiven. Maybe having weaklings like us do something the strongest and smartest people in our class couldn't do, would bring an ego like Sasuke's around full circle."
Ino spoke with confidence, really it was in her nature what would someone expect. Was she scared? Absolutely.
Why wouldn't she be, however being the weakest link mentally is not what is needed right now, the Hokage chose her last minute for a reason and she was going to live up to the challenge.
"Hinata, stay near me when we walk out these doors. Do not make eye contact unless you are willing to challenge whoever you stare at. I won't let them make you feel small. I've seen you Hinata, you are painfully shy, but you are not below anyone." With another shoulder squeeze Hinata looked at Ino with another smile and slight nod.
Hinata reacted well with Ino, Kurenai noted. This was good, this was going to get them places. Hinata and Ino was going to stay with her until they left for the mission, if Hinata even spent two hours back at the Hyuga residence she knew the girl would be a wreck on the day of the mission. Team ten and Sakura would seek Ino out and drive the young woman nuts, she needed leveled heads.
When they walked out the double doors of the Hokage building you could probably slice the thick tension air with a knife. Eyes bore straight to the group of three, some with anger, some with worry, none positive.
Ino kept her word and seemed to be a shield for the Hyuga at the moment, she dared even the great Hyuga Neji himself to come towards Hinata at that moment. She would most certainly lose against someone like him, but she wouldn't dare give off such an image. Hinata is her teammate for this mission, she would treat her the same she would treat her own team.
"I think you are taking this negatively. No one here is saying that this mission is not in your league Kurenai. I would never doubt your skills, I trust you." That was the most Kakashi was going to say, all he could say really.
It was his student, he felt very personal on the matter. He was toxic for the mission, Sasuke knew too much about his skill, Naruto current skill and Sakura's skill and if Sasuke knew too much, then so did their enemies. Team seven could be viewed as the likely team to go, they had the history and strength, but at the moment team seven was toxic. Broken.
"Oh, I don't need the melodramatics Kakashi, it's not your style anyways. Here's your scrolls for the mission. Team ten and seven will stay 5-mile distance from my team at all times and will not and I repeat will NOT interfere until I call upon you to come. That's the rules and how we are going to play this. I am not a fan of this Uchiha kid, I'm sorry I am not. This has run its course and I have gotten an injured genin because of it. I am ready to end this and get this complete. So please, control your genin, control your teams and let's get this complete." Kurenai tossed both Kakashi and Asuma there scrolls with more details of their position of the mission.
Naruto stared at Hinata, he knew that she could feel him staring at her, she was his friend why wouldn't she look at him? "Hinata?"
"No Naruto, not now. Hinata has no words for you, maybe later." Ino cut in immediately.
Naruto was a major source of Hinata's confidence, if Hinata looked even for a second she would see all the doubt sprouting from him, she didn't need to see that. Just like she didn't need to see it from her own team, so Ino didn't look at them.
Neji was the first to speak, a frown appearing on his face, "You are not her guard, Hinata can speak to whoever she pleases to speak to. You are not even in relation to her."
Kurenai ended all means of furthering the conversation and signaled for the Ino and Hinata to follow her, "I am not doing this. We are not arguing among ourselves over this. This conversation is done, Neji report back to your uncle that under Hokage orders Hinata and Ino will be staying with me until we leave for the mission. That is in two days, so everyone should go prepare."
The mission hadn't even started yet and this was the biggest fucking cluster fuck and headache Kurenai had ever had.
