Authors Note: Hello there! It's been quite awhile since I've written for this story. For that, I apologize. I don't do the "time management" thing very well. If anyone is still out there reading Gilmore Girls fics, I hope you enjoy this. I'm a Lorelai/Luke author originally, I've never really written anything focusing on Rory or her boyfriend at the time. But I'm rewatching the series, and after much deliberation, I've decided that I LOVE the Rogan relationship the best.

Anyhow, I'm rambling. Reviews are love, leave some!

Chapter 2

"Now is the perfect time. What's going on?"

Silence. Deafening silence. You could hear a pin drop. For the first time in Rory Gilmore's life, she was speechless. Should she ease into telling him, or should she just rip it off like a band aid? How do you tell a man who is marrying someone else that his life is about to change?

"Ace?" Logan asks, "did the call drop?"

"No," she finally answers. "No the call didn't drop, I'm still here."

Logan chuckles. "Okay, well, rumor is, there's something you want to talk to me about."

"Right," she agrees. "You're right. Okay, here it goes. First off, I want you to know that this is a complete shock, and definitely not done on purpose. You don't have to feel obligated to do anything."

"Aw, Ace," Logan teases. "You love me?"

Rory rolls her eyes, "you already know the answer to that."

"I know. Continue," he grins.

Now or never.

Taking a deep breath, the words pass through her lips before she could even think about stopping them.

"I'm pregnant, Logan. It's yours."

Silence.

Deafening silence. Again.

"I'm coming home."

"Logan-"

"No, Rory," he nearly shouts. "I'm coming home. You can't talk me out of this."

"But, you're getting married!"

"Oh, Rory please, you and I both know that this was a horrible arrangement. I can't marry her. Not when we both know that I can't give her what she deserves."

"What about your parents, surely they'll be disappointed; and your reputation! You can't just-"

"I can just," he says. He closes his eyes for a moment to collect his thoughts. A small smile plays on his lips, "she's not you, she never will be you. I love you, Ace. When I get home, we are going to talk."

"Yes, because talking has worked out so well for us in the past," Rory jokes.

"Yeah, but this time, I mean it." There's silence again as both he and Rory process what he just said. "Where are you?" He asks, closing his suit case and placing it by the door.

"Stars Hollow."

"I'll be there as soon as I can," he says. "Take care of yourself. Both of you."

"I will," she promises.

He can't just up and leave Odette without an explanation. He's already got his things packed, and his jet is at the airport ready and waiting for him to get there. He has to do this first.

So, he waits for Odette to get back, which gives him time to think about the phone call he just had.

Rory is pregnant.

He's going to be a father.

He doesn't know how to be a father - his only role model for a father is his own, and he'll be damned if he is going to be anything like Mitchum. No, he's going to be there for Rory and this baby every step of the way. All the crazy food cravings, midnight feedings, colicky nights.

This is a good thing, he decides. This baby, while not planned, will definitely know that he or she is loved and wanted. He's suddenly giddy. Where the hell is Odette!?

He's contemplating just leaving her a note as she finally walks in the door. "Bonjour, Logan," she calls.

"Bonjour, Odette," he returns. "Look, we need to talk."

Odette comes over and sits on the couch across from him. Why was this conversation so much easier in his head?

"I've been dishonest with you, and lying to myself. We can't get married," he says. "We both know that this isn't what we want. We've both been having our own affairs, that's not what a marriage is."

"Oh thank god," Odette sighs.

"Thank god?" Logan asks.

"Oui! I am so glad we both feel this way," she answers. "But what will our parents say?"

Logan shrugs, "I don't really care. I'm a grown man, and I can make my own decisions."

He doesn't tell her that Rory is pregnant, but he does tell her that he's reconnected with his college love, and that he never really stopped loving her. After an hour of conversation, Odette bids him farewell, with the promise that he call or text when his flight lands in Hartford. They can, after all, still be friends.

After hanging up with Logan, she stares at her phone for the longest time. Did this conversation really just happen? He's not mad? He's coming home?

She thinks she's gonna be sick. 'No, wait...I'm good.'

If she's being honest with herself, she was hoping that this would be the outcome. She was a kid - ok she was twenty-two - when he proposed, but she wasn't ready then. She never stopped loving him. She doesn't regret not accepting his proposal back then, it's what was right for both of them at the time.

Is she ready for marriage now? She's not sure. One thing she's going to make clear when he gets here is that she doesn't want to marry him because she's pregnant. She wants to marry him because she's in love with him and can't imagine life without him. She's pretty sure he feels the same way. He's always been an open book to her. She knows what he wants before he does.

He didn't really give off any of his thoughts about the baby over the phone. She has to wait twelve hours before she knows what he's thinking about this unexpected life event.

A knock on the bedroom door breaks her from her thoughts. "Hey, kid. How'd it go?"

Rory blinks at her mother. "Uhm, good. He's coming home."

"What?" Lorelai asks, walking in and sitting next to Rory. "What about his wedding? The fiancé?"

"Well, he didn't say much in the phone, but I'm fairly certain that there isn't going to be a wedding and there isn't a fiancé anymore."

"Wow," a slight smile plays on Lorelai's lips. "He's coming home."

"Yeah."

"Rory, it's gonna be okay," Lorelai says, wrapping an arm around her daughter. "He wouldn't be coming home if he didn't want to be involved."

"But -"

"Stop, honey. Now, I know many moons ago, I wasn't a fan of Logan - mostly because of his family. However, he's grown up a lot, and I can see that he loves you. I saw it when you were in college, and I can see it now. He's going to be involved."

"You think?"

Lorelai nods, "Yeah. He's going to be there for you while you're pregnant, hold your hand while you're in labor, he's going to help with the midnight feeds, and watch your child grow up." Lorelai pauses and wills herself not to cry. "He's going to be the best father to this child. He already knows what not to do because of his own upbringing."

Rory smiles.

"He's coming home."

Lorelai kisses the side of Rory's head. "He's coming home."
