This is basically the Sumi giving himself up to authorities and Misaki stuff chapter.

Thanks for reading! :)

-Lucicelo

Succumbing to his fears, Sumi gave himself up to the police station. For the last month or so, he couldn't sleep or continue on with the farce. As much as he tried to collect the money, he knew it was useless. The mass amount left in his debt was more than he expected to pay in one installment.

He was screwed.

So screwed.

Upon that realization, Kazuki's words echoed through his mind. Kazuki's plans of killing his parents in revenge for his lack of payment withered him down to delirium. Sumi didn't want to carry the guilt of ending his parents' lives. They were not at fault.

His mother didn't deserve a bullet to the head over his stupidity.

Having a criminal target his family, gnawed at the minute piece of guilt he contained for the whole debacle he started against Takahashi Misaki. He cared little for Misaki, despised his existence. Misaki didn't appreciate the man who housed him and looked out for him. Anyone else would have seen the boon of being Usami Akihiko's lover. Yet, Misaki complained and whined over the man's eccentricities. Oddities that Sumi saw were easily fixable or with the right incentive were erased.

Even more laughable to him was what Usami saw in Misaki. Usami's comments on what he loved about Misaki didn't register in Sumi's mind. Those comments were seen through enamored eyes. Misaki wasn't worthy to stand at Akihiko's side.

Shaking his head, he walked through the police department's entrance and walked to the front counter. The officer at the front counter gave him a double take. Sumi read her name tag, showing her last name as Suoh.

Appearing dead and defeated, Sumi spoke to her, blatant about his involvement in a crime. But, he gave no details. He was in a lobby, not an interrogation room. The woman eyed him, waiting for him to explain himself even further, but Sumi kept details to himself. Instead, he showed his backpack to Suoh, giving her the hint of the evidence contained inside.

Fingers digging into his backpack, Sumi admitted. "I committed a crime and I'm here to turn myself in. I have the evidence right here."

Sighing out loud, Suoh wasted no time in calling another officer before she motioned him to the bench closest to the door. "Alright, go sit over there and someone will receive you in a moment."

"Thanks." Sumi awkwardly informed her.

He walked over to the bench and slumped onto it. Clutching onto the backpack, he felt safe for the first time in months. Ignoring the reality of his subsequent prison sentence gave him peace of mind.

A different officer, who Sumi didn't catch the nametag of, called for him to follow. Sumi lifted himself out of the seat, trailing behind the officer who opened a door and motioned him to go inside. Sumi went in, twitching when the door closed behind him.

Picking one of the seats, Sumi sat down and didn't wait long when someone knocked on the door. The door opened and the two officers who entered the interrogation room introduced themselves as Tsumura and Tennouji. Tsumura appeared the less stern of the duo while Tennouji's eyebrows added a layer of sternness. Sumi felt small in the presence of these police officers. The implication of his hand in ordering a hit on someone already made him less than them in their eyes.

After Tennouji and Tsumura finished setting up, Sumi started his statement.

The interrogation didn't take long.

Sumi handed over every piece of evidence he accumulated from his association with Kazuki. He spoke about how he found the man, the payment, his reasoning for hiring him, and his hatred of Takahashi Misaki.

Sitting across from him, Tsumura wrote down everything in a notepad while Tennouji looked through the evidence. They were excited that Sumi surrendered without a lawyer present. The added evidence made this a slam and dunk case. It was too late for Sumi to take his statement back. He voluntarily entered the department and handed over evidence.

Tsumura took in the information, stunned at the webs that surrounded one young man. He sort of felt bad for him in his role in the whole debacle. After all, Takahashi Misaki was a normal kid in the middle of a love triangle.

He recalled his interview with Usami Akihiko, Misaki's ex-lover, the entitlement alone made him dislike the man. Throughout his years in the force, Tsumura encountered more than his fair share of entitled rich people and criminals. He learned to blank his face before reacting to the words spewed at him. There were instances where obvious lies made him want to laugh, but he controlled himself.

His fellow officers would chuckle at the drama of it all.

Now, a scorned wannabe lover appeared, admitting to hiring a hit on Misaki to get him out the way. His personal feelings on same sex relationships aside, Tsumura considered himself lucky to have a front seat to the spectacle.

Tsumura and Tennouji continued on asking questions, Sumi answered without restraint.

By the time the interrogation ended, Sumi drank multiple cups of water to wet his throat. Bladder full, he asked for the bathroom and Tennouji accompanied him to the bathroom. Tsumura rushed out to document the report while also releasing some gossip on the ease of this interrogation.

Managing to relieve himself, Sumi trailed beside Tennouji who waved at passing officers. Sumi averted his eyes, a strike of shame washed over him at the judgment in their eyes. He was handcuffed and led to change into his prison uniform.

He didn't regret wanting to hurt Misaki, but his reputation was ruined.

Before they entered the hallway that led to the cells, Sumi piped up. "Do I get a phone call?"

"One."

Tennouji led Sumi toward the row of phones, instructing him. "You have five minutes."

Sumi nodded his head. "Yes, sir."

Sumi sat down and removed the phone from the receiver. He checked the time on the wall and realized how long he spent at the precinct. The interrogation didn't feel slow or dragging. In fact, his throat kept on drying from all the talking he did. At least, the officers offered him glasses of water to wet his throat. They needed his information to solve their case.

Gulping, he dialed his home phone number.

His heart sped up as he waited with baited breath. His parents were either drinking their tea before dinner or having dinner. Decompressing from their stressful days at work.

He was going to ruin their lives from his decision.

The phone was picked up and he heard the automated voice message informing his parents about their collect call. Sumi's leg bounced and bit into his lower lip. When it came time for him to say his name, he voiced it out loud, prompting his father to accept the call. Otherwise, the man would have hung up the phone without hesitation.

"Son? What's going on?"

Sumi breathed through his nose. "Dad, I'm being detained in prison for...uh...harming another person."

"Excuse me?!" His father yelled for his mother who frantically tried getting the phone from his father. "Explain yourself!"

His mother broke into tears and his father swore out loud.

Sumi didn't have it in himself to dispute his reasoning on why he attacked another student. He knew his phone call was recorded. Anything he said would be used against him in the court case. He might have been stupid enough to hire a criminal for the job, but he wouldn't further incriminate himself.

Leaning against the wall, he listened to his parents begging him to stop joking.

"Please, tell me you're lying!" His mother's voice broke as she sobbed hard.

"Don't worry, we will find a good lawyer to represent you." His father reassured him, probably assuming this whole event was nothing more than a scuffle.

Sumi shut his eyes and clutched onto the phone. He had nothing else to say to them. Any explanation would be met with questions he couldn't answer. His parents wouldn't understand his fascination with Usami Akihiko or why he hurt someone else for a man.

His parents were besotted with the idea of him getting married to an omiai of their choosing or a decent enough woman. The talk of marriage and grandchildren surfaced when he returned home. A bitter topic for him to entertain when he wanted nothing to do with this path of life. Still, he grinned and bore their chatter as he waited for the right moment to ask for more money.

Buttering up his mother always helped to loosen his father's purse strings, but it seemed his father wised up to his constant spending. He gave his son no more money. Pointing out that he gave him more than enough money to last him the semester and to pay off his apartment. Of course, Sumi wasted it on paying off his extorter, but didn't have enough to cover the rest of the money.

He was lucky the criminal had not abused him or roughened him up to push him to collect the money. The man certainly found amusement in threatening him with violence before he chased him out of his apartment.

He hoped he received a small sentence in a low security prison. Kazuki's level of prison was a place Sumi never wanted to set foot in.

The thought of protecting himself against other offenders made him sick to his stomach. He wasn't strong enough or connected enough to keep himself safe. Unless, he received a solitary existence.

Trapped in four walls in isolation was better than being used for years to come.

The frantic yelling on the phone line suddenly stopped.

A dial tone echoed through the receiver.

Looking up, Sumi realized that Tennouji pressed the button to end the call.

"Times up."

Sumi placed the phone on the receiver and stood up.

At a dilapidated apartment complex, Kazuki woke up to a pounding door. Managing to put on a pair of pants, he opened the door, ready to scream at the person for waking him up. He stopped himself in time when he recognized a pair of police officers. One of them held up a paper that showed a warrant for his arrest. Mind whirling at the fact Sumi snitched him out, Kazuki attempted to run away from the police.

To his dismay, extra officers waited on the sides of the building, blocking his escape route. Before he thought of another plan, he was tackled onto the ground. He was handcuffed and yanked up to the patrol car at the entertainment of his neighbors.

He struggled against the restraint of the officers, claiming he did nothing wrong. His neighbors hushed voices rose as they watched him being shoved inside of the patrol car. Amused at seeing his arrest.

Days later, Misaki let out a sigh of relief as the investigator spoke to him on the phone. "Thank you for telling me, officer. Have a good day." Placing his phone in his pocket, Misaki couldn't help his jump in excitement. Of course, he was careful to not fall down so as to not rebreak his leg.

The police made a huge leap in the case and found the man responsible for his car crash. Of course, the police wouldn't tell him the identity of the guy before they went through the motions of the court system. He was reassured that the people involved were taken into custody.

Misaki's delight lessened at the realization that two people were involved in his crash.

It was odd.

He remembered that there was only one person in the driver's seat. There was no passenger inside of the car or someone in the backseats.

"I'm sure he didn't mean to hit me." Misaki tapped his phone screen with his nails, trying hard not to overthink. "I mean...people get into car accidents all the time."

Focusing on the good news, he grabbed the house keys from the bowl, his keychains jingled against one another. Shoving them in his pocket, he continued on justifying the driver's intentions. "He was probably scared or lost control of the car. Yeah...that's probably it..."

Sending Hiroki and Nowaki a quick message, Misaki slipped his phone in his pocket. Putting on his shoes, he left the apartment complex, ready for his trip to the bookstore. Lucky for him, the nearest bookstore wasn't too far from Hiroki and Nowaki's apartment. The area was less packed with cars, making for minimal traffic and noise. Bike riders and pedestrians took up the room of the road, giving him enough distractions from the road.

A slight panic attack was worth going to buy the newest installment of The Kan. Misaki wanted to snag a copy before the traffic started up. He missed the last few installments due to spending time with his family and quite frankly forgot.

He was going to buy five installments and binge read inside of his room. Of course, he would prepare dinner and then binge read.

Hiroki and Nowaki deserved to return home to a cooked meal. They worked hard at their jobs and Misaki didn't mind doing all the cooking.

"The Kan, here I come!" Misaki cheered out loud as he walked out of the building.

Due to his excitement, he didn't notice someone following him.

Following at a five person distance, Takahiro feigned a leisure walk to disguise his intent. No one suspected anything was wrong. He was clean, wore his suit, and forced himself into a relaxed gait. Making it seen that he was tracking Misaki down like a hunter would bring eyes onto him. Second glances from people who wouldn't intervene, but would remember details of himself.

A slip up he couldn't afford. He already risked himself because of the multiple stakeouts near Hiroki's apartment. The one time he followed Misaki brought him to the apartment, but he didn't know the apartment number. He decided on waiting until Misaki walked out of the apartment himself. Easier for him to take him without barriers surrounding him.

At first, Takahiro retained his initial patience in waiting. As days passed, he grew impatient. Annoyed at Misaki's sudden bout of being a homebody. When Misaki lived with him, Misaki left home for internet cafes and errands. He never stayed at home unless it pertained to that manga series Misaki insisted on collected.

When he thought his patience would break, Misaki almost skipped out of the apartment. Happiness clear on his face in his bright smile and bright disposition.

Takahiro followed without hesitation.

Takahiro's eyes locked on Misaki's back. Small and frail, just like he remembered. Dodging incoming people, he made sure that Misaki never left his sight. He couldn't lose him. Not now. It was time for Misaki to return to him. For them to continue on where they left off before Misaki lived with Usami Akihiko. He didn't have his family to stop him from keeping Misaki.

His mistake in marrying Manami opened the opportunity for Misaki to leave his side. He couldn't take the fact that Misaki wasn't his anymore. The realization that Misaki slept with another man was agony. Misaki was meant to remain untouched, unsullied by the world.

Sometime after that discovery, his brotherly feelings diminished down to welcome indignant irritation.

Misaki betrayed him and needed reeducation.

Betrayed him for a family that didn't raise him. Lived alongside an older brother, a spoiled rich boy, unbothered at the trails and tribulations of life. Kamijou Hiroki never suffered for a thing in his life. He didn't deserve to have Takahiro's younger brother.

And Takahiro would take him back no matter who stood in his way.

Misaki walked out of the shop with a bag full of his bible. His big smile started to hurt his face for how long he held it, but he couldn't help himself. The Kan was his favorite series of all time. His nii-san might tease him about his lack of taste, Hiroki meant it in jest. He never insulted him for his enjoyment of manga and anime. Sometimes, Misaki swore he heard Hiroki watching anime, but never caught him in person.

He was sure he could covert Hiroki into reading volume one of The Kan. It was the least he could do considering Hiroki assigned him multiple books when he attended his classes. Hiroki couldn't claim that Misaki never read proper literature. Misaki read and wrote papers on those books after all. Lackluster papers, but he tried his best.

Hiroki still teased him about his terrible papers when the topic of school came up.

Misaki couldn't help but pout the rest of the afternoon. It wasn't his fault that he wasn't good at articulating his thoughts well on paper. Besides, Hiroki was a harsh task master when it came to his essays.

Passing an alleyway, Misaki didn't register being pulled backwards until he slammed against a solid surface. Before he could turn, a damp cloth was placed on his mouth and an arm kept him close. He struggled against the person, terror filling him at what this person was going to do to him. To be bold enough to grab him in public meant the person wasn't in their right state of mind.

As Misaki's vision blacked out, a blurry face appeared beside him. Inhaling more air through the wet cloth, Misaki was stunned on having recognized the person who snatched him off of the road.

Takahiro.

Takahiro found him and grabbed him out in daylight.

And Misaki's body froze in absolute terror.

Takahiro smiled down at him. "Hello, Misaki."
