Day 32

Got mail from Zylam today with more books for translation or copying and parchment. Which is good because I've managed to bind my dear Journal into a book form now. Congrats! It's a good thing I numbered them or I'd have never kept track.

Not much of note to write down today. More guard duty. Wandered Taurajo some more to get familiar with it. Groaned at the massive gaps in our defenses. Basically the new usual but at least I have Nyx here and things to do.

Logmar wasn't much of a conversationalist but he did have a sense of humor so I guess quiet was his thing. Thankfully my other bunkmates took pity on me for a chat and I'm trying to get used to all the names. Cloudhoof and Skyhunter stood out to me at least.

Day 33

Today was pretty nice. The sun didn't seem to want to fry us as much and my legs aren't sore. Got to see a quilboar far in the distance, one of the tauren went out to hunt it down. I'm going to try to enjoy the quiet time as much as I can.

In other news, Nyx has learned to con the local butcher out of scraps. She joins me on my evening run to work it off and she's probably sniffed every building in town by now at least once. My little wolf seemed pretty happy except that I didn't lift her into my hammock.

Took a look off towards Mulgore tonight and realized that the mountains around it are very impressive. If the Great Gates get put across that I definitely want to walk them, it is a wide gap between massive heights and with a backdrop of the sunset it was beautiful.

Day 34

Some adventurers stumbled in while I was on watch. A couple of trolls and a tauren that were pretty singed from obvious lightning spells but overall in a good mood. They said they'd been hunting messengers while the army tried to claim the Stagnant Oasis. The skirmishing was ongoing but in our favor.

The Kolkar will likely flee rather than be wiped out like that. They'll join up with their clan in the West and become far more difficult to deal with. Unless of course they are complete idiots and fight to the last which I definitely wouldn't feel pity about.

I also got a letter from Dashade to expect him in a week after he's finished some business. I wonder if he'll like Nyx? Elves are more into cats than wolves and the nature between them does explain some of the fighting. Heh.

Day 35

I got rained on today to my complete surprise. I am so used to the clear warm skies that I went to my post today without ever looking up and a few minutes later the clouds broke above me. All I could do was pull my cloak tighter and glare in jealousy at Nyx who laid in the entry of a tent.

The showers were off and on throughout the day. I have no clue if it came over from Mulgore or Dustwallow but even that wasn't enough to turn the earth muddy. The land was so parched that it just drank it in.

The others are currently either smoking or playing dice. Unless they whip out a Hearthstone board I don't have any desire to join in. I have no desire to trash this fit body of mine so soon after getting it, bar nights aside.

I guess I'll spend the evening working on those books. But to work on the book about dragons, history, or ships first? I'm leaning towards ships because why the hell not but dragons are cool too. Definitely can't do a coin flip or the others might try to drag me in to their game.
