Food Aggression
"I'm pretty sure that some level of food aggression is normal in young dragons," Yang drawled. "But it's something else to see it from a dragon and their rider."
Not far away, Crescent Rose and Ruby had managed to get their hands on a huge bowl of freshly-baked chocolate-chip cookies. The two had squabbled briefly before coming to a realisation: if they argued, someone else might be able to swoop in and take the cookies.
Cue plenty of suspicious looks at everyone else on the team, dragons and riders included.
The pair had then come to an agreement. They would share the cookies, thereby ensuring that they could also keep a close eye on them to prevent anyone else from having any.
"Ruby is hardly a normal dragon rider," Weiss replied.
Crescent Rose had coiled herself around the bowl of cookies while Ruby was hunched over them like some kind of prehistoric cavewoman. The only thing she was missing was a wooden club. Whenever anyone got close, Crescent Rose would snarl while Ruby would glare.
Of course, given the small size of the pair – Ruby was the shortest and youngest member of the team whilst Crescent Rose was a mere six feet in length – they were hardly the most terrifying sight in the world. In fact, Ember Celica was currently having a lot of fun pretending to go after the cookies just to see how they would react.
However, it wasn't the solar dragon they should be worried about. As lazy as she was, Gambol Shroud was also a master of sneakiness. Yang had noticed that one of the shadows cast by Ruby's cloak was a little darker and larger than it should be. Sure enough, a tendril of liquid darkness emerged from it and stealthily nabbed a cookie before vanishing back into the shadows.
It was only when Gambol Shroud began to visibly munch on something that Ruby and Crescent Rose realised what had happened.
"How dare you!" Ruby shrieked, jabbing one finger at the shadow dragon. "That's our cookie!"
You monster! Crescent Rose bared her teeth, and flame kindled in her jaws. You'll pay for taking a cookie!
Gambol Shroud opened one eye lazily. Dozens of inky tendrils emerged from the shadows cast by Ruby and Crescent Rose. Really?
"Gah!" Ruby looked about furtively. With that many tendrils, it would be easy for Gambol Shroud to steal cookies. "Yang, Weiss, you two have to help us! Get Ember Celica and Myrtenaster to help too."
"And what about me?" Blake asked.
Ruby scowled. "You're probably in cahoots with the traitor!"
"Cahoots?" Blake sniggered. "Really?"
Yeah! Crescent Rose glared. You're working with her!
"Whatever," Blake sighed. "Just don't make too big of a mess. I'm trying to read." And with that, she sat down under a nearby tree to read her newest book.
Gambol Shroud hadn't moved an inch from her position sprawled out in a cosy patch of sunlight, but more and more shadowy tendrils formed. I'm hungry. Some cookies would be great for a quick snack.
You really think I'll let you? Crescent Rose stamped the earth. You won't get even one more cookie – ah!
A tendril of shadow raised another two cookies to Gambol Shroud's mouth. I already did.
Ruby nodded slowly. "So that's how it is." She jabbed her finger at Gambol Shroud. "Team RWBY… get her!"
Nobody moved.
"…" Ruby sighed. "Fine. We'll do it ourselves. Come on, Crescent Rose."
Yang and Weiss were then treated to the sight of Ruby and Crescent Rose trying and failing miserably to even reach Gambol Shroud as a forest of shadows sprang up between them.

Author's Notes
As always, I do not own RWBY. I'm not making any money off of this either.
Gambol Shroud is kind of a troll, albeit a lazy one. Still, despite her laziness (or most likely because of it), she has the best control over her magic out of anyone in the team. Admittedly, Myrtenaster's magic is more versatile and potentially more powerful, but nobody can match the sheer control that Gambol Shroud has over her shadows.
Let me know if there's a character who you would like to see appear in this AU. So far the only person other than Team RWBY that we've seen is Qrow who has a storm crow as his mount.
Also, if you've enjoyed my fan fiction, you should check out my original fiction. You can find me on Amazon and Audible as L. G. Estrella. I've just recently released The Sheep Dragon, which is a collection of short stories set in The Unconventional Heroes Series. If you enjoy humour, fun, and adventure, check it out.
As always, I appreciate feedback. Reviews and comments are welcome.
