Chapter Seventeen: Lasting Evermore, the Sword that Falls Forever.
第十七章:永遠に続く剣、永遠に落ちる剣。
Dai Jūnanashō: Eien'nitsudzuku Ken, Eien ni Ochiru ken.

A fallen sword that sleeps in darkness, a blind huntsman that acts in malice.
暗闇の中で眠る倒れた剣、悪意を持って行動する盲目の猟師。

"Oh, Jauney boy! It's your buddy, Cardin! Don't think you can run from me! You still have to finish that Dust project I gave you, buuuut I'm gonna need you to go out and get me a bag of Rapier Wasps! And make sure they've got some really big stingers! It's important, so don't screw this up!"

The message played, as Jaune could only listen in terror. Pyrrha frowned the whole time, a heavy mask of disgust present on her face. Nora and Ren were also disgusted by this revelation, though it wasn't as much. On the other side, Team RWBY reacted as much as you'd expect. Weiss, Blake and Yang reacted with disgust. Ruby reacted similarly, though much less.

And Kuen was furious at this. Not at Jaune, obviously. But at the fuck that was Cardin.

"So that's what the fucker had been up to, huh..." Kuen muttered.

"You'd think that scum like him couldn't go lower, but he somehow could..." Blake added.

"The trip to Forever Fall is tomorrow, right?" Ruby asked, though everybody already knew the answer.

"Yep." Weiss responded.

Kuen crossed his arms.

"If you don't mind me asking, where is Forever Fall, anyways?" Kuen asked.

"North of Vale." Blake replied, though there was a tone of regret in her voice.

Kuen was unsure why, but he decided to keep that note in the back of his mind.

"I would say we should find a way to break Cardin's legs, but this message is already enough to get him expelled. What the fuck does he want with Rapier Wasps anyways?"

"I have no clue." Pyrrha shivered a little.

"Those things pack a punch." Yang commented on the situation.

"Hang on." Weiss brought attention to her, confused. "Professor Goodwitch did mention something about us going to Forever Fall to collect Red Sap."

"Sap?" Kuen asked. "Wouldn't insects naturally be attracted to the stuff?"

"That means..." Pyrrha tried piecing the puzzle together. "Cardin might want that stuff to cover someone, then the Wasps..."

Jaune realized something.

"I'm worried... that they're going to target you..." The blonde swordsman spoke.

Pyrrha placed an arm of his shoulder.

"We're not weak. You're not weak. We can handle this. If Team CRDL wants to bring the game to us, we'll just beat them at their own game." Kuen simply stated.

This had come after Jaune had told everyone the truth about his forged transcripts. After deliberate thinking, the group had chosen not to tell Professor Goodwitch about it, though Kuen did mention that Ozpin knew about it.

"Remember what I told you last night?" Kuen added. "If I, a person without any transcripts or qualifications to speak of, was allowed by Ozpin to attend Beacon, you should be able to as well."

And Kuen realized he hadn't told everyone else that. Said revelation caused everyone to widen in shock.

'Fuck.' Kuen thought to himself. This was going to be a long night of questioning.

But there were no questions, surprisingly. Kuen blinked in confusion, though he decided that it wasn't worth it.

"Right. Anyways." Kuen coughed a little. "Let's figure out a plan for tomorrow. I'm concerned about one thing."

Nora looked confused, though Weiss could tell what he meant.

"The Megid." The latter immediately stated.

"Yeah." Kuen replied back. "Knowing the Megid generals, whoever they are... I'm concerned that they're going to target us while we're in Forever Fall. So. We have to keep our guard up at all times."

"As if we weren't going to do that already, with the Grimm lurking." Yang sarcastically quipped.

"...good point." Kuen sighed.

But he soon returned to his normal self. "All in favor of project 'Beat the shit out of Cardin', say aye!"

There was a round of 'aye's. Even Jaune joined in, happy to beat the shit out of the guy that had been tormenting him for no reason for the past few days.

It was decided.

The 'fated' day had finally arrived. Okay, it was supposed to be a regular trip into Forever Fall, but Kuen wanted to consider it a special thing. After all, this was going to be the first time he wasn't in Vale, or in Beacon at all. So, this was completely unfamiliar territory for him. Sure, he'd done some research on the place from the library, but he was unable to properly find the time to properly explore the place. Considering, ya know. Beacon Academy studies.

He checked his stuff on hand to make sure he got what was necessary. He did remember that they were required to bring Sap, and Professor Peach was going to be handling the group. Kuen felt he was safe enough hands, in that regard. Sheathing Rekka in the slot on his belt, he made sure he brought the Swordriver as well.

Besides that, there wasn't much else to bring, besides his Scroll, and to don the necessary clothes. And seeing that it was still half past six, and he'd done his morning prayers, he figured it'd be wise to wake up his teammates. Considering the airship was going to depart to Forever Fall at around half past seven, that would be the best course of actions to take.

Heading out of his room and locking the door, he would stroll over to Team JNPR's dorm room. Gently knocking on the room, he wasn't too surprised to see Ren had already woken up. Peeking in, he did notice something rather unusual; Pyrrha was still asleep. And the two lovebirds were holding hands.

"Gotta be the cutest shit I've seen." Kuen commented on Pyrrha and Jaune's situation.

"Yeah. Jaune had been having second thoughts about the whole plan." Ren responded.

Kuen's eyes widened.

"Ah. I see…" Kuen retorted. "Should we wake them up? The Bullhead is going to leave in an hour or so."

Ren shrugged. "I have an alarm set, don't worry."

"How do you plan all this stuff in advance?"

"Don't ask."

"Right."

And the alarm rung, as all three sleeping teammates were jolted awake by the ringing noise. Pyrrha and Jaune realized exactly what they were doing, before the former noticed Kuen.

"Good morning." Kuen simply commented. "You two seem like you had a nice night together."

That teasing wasn't going to die down anytime soon, was it?"

Kuen had just finished waking up Team RWBY, and was now waiting for them to get ready. He didn't feel like walking down to the cafeteria along today, considering that today wasn't really a normal Beacon day. Furthermore, he was a little worried that he was going to be one of the prime targets of Team CRDL, considering he basically kicked their leader in the ass. Twice.

There was also Nora and Pyrrha, and indirectly the rest of Team JNPR and Team RWBY. Kuen was worried. Very worried. Much more worried than he let on yesterday.

But he decided that wasn't going to stop him. While waiting, though, he took an inventory check of the Wonder Ride Books he even had on hand.

Brave Dragon.

Book Gate.

Diago Speedy.

Peter Fantasista.

Jackun-to-Domamenoki.

Nora had Lamp do Alangina, and Ren had the Ride Gatriker.

Kuen thought about it a little. He knew Brave Dragon was a Rekka book, considering that was what the sword required to transform into Saber. Peter Fantasista was probably part of an unknown set. Jackun-to-Domamenoki was probably Gekido, considering Ryo owned a copy of it. Lamp do Alangina was obviously Ikazuchi, for the same reasons that Brave Dragon was Rekka.

He wondered how many more Wonder Ride Books there were out there, and how many weren't in the possession of the Sword of Logos.

But now he'd done his inventory check, he noticed Team RWBY leaving their dorm room, at the same time as Team JNPR.

Very nice coincidence.

Kuen stored his Wonder Ride Books back on his belt, as he then asked, "Y'all ready to go now?"

The Bullhead had just departed, and was making its way into Forever Fall. That allowed Kuen to see the city of Vale from above for the first time, and well… he was in awe to say the least.

Seeing it from the eyes of a person was already amazing enough, with its hustle and bustle, but seeing it from above… this was a new sight for Kuen. He took the moment to see what the rest of his teammates were doing; for the most part, they were minding their own business, but Jaune looked like he was motion sick, or something like that.

'I wonder if there's motion sickness pills… that could help.' Kuen idly thought to himself.

He did then take the moment to analyze what the hell Team CRDL was doing. Kuen made sure to keep a very careful eye on that team; after all, they were targeting Jaune in a convergence of events that lead to this moment. And he was going to be careful that conflict didn't erupt on the ship. Especially with a professor onboard, things could undoubtedly spiral out of control in an instant.

They could crash in the city, and maybe die. They could crash in the forest, and probably be at the mercy of the Grimm. Next thing you know, Team CRDL is batshit insane enough to work alongside the Grimm and mess everyone up badly. Everything felt like a wild card to Kuen at this point.

That was stopped when Ruby could tell Kuen was overthinking, the team leader rushing to aid her teammate.

"You're… worried about this, aren't you?"

"...yeah." Kuen responded sheepishly.

"We'll be fine. Even you said so yourself last night, remember?"

"Heh." Kuen smirked a little. "Yeah, I guess I did. Though I can't help but wonder on the sheer amount of things that can go wrong..."

"Like I said, we'll be fine. Don't worry about it. If we get into trouble, we have each other's backs."

"Now I see why Ozpin chose you as a leader."

Ruby smiled.

"Get a room already, you two." Blake idly commented.

And Kuen and Ruby could only blush a little.

"Seriously. Do you read that much smut, Blake?" Kuen inquired.

Blake blinked, confused.

"I know what books you read, you know. Like Nin-"

And Kuen's words were interrupted when he saw a furious Blake. So he was right.

"I'll drop the topic then." Kuen muttered to himself.

(OST: EP 13 Score - Forever Fall Pt 1)

Stepping into Forever Fall for the first time, Kuen could see why it got its name.

"Hey, it's technically still summer, right?" Kuen asked.

"Technically late summer, but yeah. Still summer." Blake responded.

"I see why this place got its name now." Kuen commented.

And as they looked around, Kuen took the moment to admire the place. However, that brief moment of his was quickly interrupted by Professor Peach's voice. As she began leading everyone in the group in one direction, Kuen strolled along. He was very careful to make sure that Team CRDL got nowhere close to Jaune. Things seemed to be going well for the most part, as Jaune was with Pyrrha for the most part.

"Forever Fall! For the most part, a beautiful forest!" Professor Peach explained, as they arrived in the middle of the forest, somewhere. "But we are not here to sight-see! You have to collect samples from the trees in the forest!"

Professor Peach would pull out a jar of what appeared to be a sap of some kind. "Each of you is to gather one jar's worth of red sap. However, this forest is full of Grimm, so be sure to stay by your teammates. We will rendezvous back here at 4 o'clock. Have fun!"

And with that, she would give each student one empty jar, as their assignment. All nine members of Teams RWBY and JNPR would look at each other, all of them nodding. The plan was now in motion. Cardin seemed to want to kickstart the plan, as he would try to grab Jaune. Said action did not work, unfortunately, as Pyrrha would grab Jaune, pulling him out of Cardin's range.

"So, you're already bold enough to think Jaune is going to go along with your plan." Kuen uttered.

Cardin scoffed at that. Immediately, however, Nora and Ren quickly helped Jaune, pushing him in the opposite direction of where Team CRDL was. That seemed to get on Cardin's nerves, though he didn't seem to act too much on it. Kuen decided to act like he didn't care too much about Cardin's plans, as he would trail around with Team RWBY, bringing his jar of sap.

Kuen wasn't too worried about Team JNPR right now. He knew that they were strong, for one... and besides, they had Ikazuchi.

The job seemed to be settled on Kuen's end, for the most part. Though, on Jaune's side, things weren't going too easily. Not because Cardin was harassing Jaune; no, that hadn't happened yet at all. Instead, Ren had to aggressive control Nora, though not without reason. Nora had the bright idea of being attracted to drinking all of the sap, which meant the other three members had to safeguard the precious sap.

Sure, they could just grab more sap, but Nora would just drink it again. And the cycle would repeat again, and again, and again.

And as they finished their goal, they quickly headed back to the rendezvous point. Pyrrha and Nora were still weary of Team CRDL, though in the latter's case, not as much. Nora was begging Ren for the sap the whole trip, but Ren would not budge one bit in listening to his partner's request.

Thankfully, Pyrrha's weariness was much-founded, as they would then suddenly be interrupted by Cardin, who led his team in Team JNPR's direction.

"Do you think you can run from me?!" Cardin screamed, readying his mace.

Cardin's teammate, Russel, pulled out a jar of Rapier Wasps, the latter madly chuckling. "Did you seriously think you could skip out on doing our leader's tasks? We own you."

That caused Pyrrha and Nora to stand in front of Jaune, readying their weapons.

"We're going to get payback on you, in the best way possible." Another of Cardin's teammates, Dove Bronzewing, spoke.

The last of Cardin's team, Sky Lark, would hold a jar of sap in his hand.

"Why don't you do the duty, Jauney boy?" Cardin taunted. "Or I'll have a chat with Goodwitch, and you'll be on the first airship out of Beacon."

That caused something to boil within Jaune. He couldn't stand what Cardin was doing. Especially considering his own teammates were the ones being targeted. Also the fact that Cardin thought he could get away with something dumb like that.

Jaune grabbed Ikazuchi from Nora's hand forcefully; much to the latter's surprise. And as he also grabbed the Lamp do Alangina Wonder Ride Book, he would scan it. Stepping in front of Nora and Pyrrha, he stared down Team CRDL, readying himself.

"No."

"I'm not going to." Jaune said determinedly, as he would ready the blade, preparing the finisher. Immediately, he would then send out a powerful wave of electricity at Team CRDL. All the while, he took the chance to be like Kuen and Nora, uttering his own finisher name.

"Coup de Foudre!"

Holographic runes would form above the sword, in the same language that Jaune spoke. All of Team CRDL would take the brunt of the attack, as they simply stood up.

"You know that wasn't very smart, Jauney boy." Cardin mocked once again, though his insults seemed to be hollow, if anything.

All the while, Pyrrha was quickly contacting Kuen, informing him of the situation.

(OST: EP 14 Score - Forever Fall Pt 2)

Jaune felt something surge within him, almost like a bout of power. He wasn't quite too sure why, but maybe it had something to do with the fact that he was actually in power. Maybe. He wasn't quite sure what the right term for it was, but he felt more powerful. With Ikazuchi in one hand, and Crocea Mors in his other, he readied himself.

"You're going to regret this." Lark hissed, as the four members of Team CRDL charged into battle.

Ren would also step out, readying his dual pistols.

And so, the battle commenced.

Nora quickly snatched the Raimeiken Ikazuchi and Lamp do Alangina Wonder Ride Book from Jaune, much to the latter's surprise. She quickly shrugged it off, as Pyrrha caught what she was doing. It was better for Nora to transform before giving the sword to Jaune, after all.

Nora summoned the Seiken Swordriver from... somewhere, before equipping the belt. Immediately after, she flipped the Wonder Ride Book open, as she blocked a hit from Russel with her hammer, Magnhild.

LAMP DO ALANGINA!

Inserting the Wonder Ride Book into the left slot of the Swordriver, Nora would then insert the sword into its slot in the belt. And she would pull out Ikazuchi, a flurry of lightning released from the blade.

Ikazuchi Battō! Lamp do Alangina!
黄雷抜刀!ランプドアランジーナ!

Pyrrha swore she could hear the sounds of joints cracking, which she assumed was Nora. And the swordswoman of thunder readied herself, before rushing into battle. Nora then tossed Ikazuchi to Jaune, as he grabbed it in hand. Jaune would then parry a blow from Cardin, before the blonde swordsman used Ikazuchi to send a small flurry of lightning.

The mace-wielder sent out another wild blow towards Jaune, though the attack was once again dodged. Jaune glared at Cardin with a look of determination and fury.

"I don't care what you do to me... but you are not messing with my team." Jaune said, determinedly.

Cardin simply scoffed, though there was a momentary look on Cardin's face.

"What? You think talk like that makes you tough? You think you're a big strong man now?" Cardin uttered.

"Never said I am. But I have one thing you don't." Jaune smiled.

And Nora sent her hammer swinging into Cardin's face, sending him flying into one of the trees.

Almost on cue, however, Kuen arrived with the rest of Team RWBY.

"Woah. Never realized they were getting beat this bad." Kuen commented.

"It happens." Ren responded.

Cardin got up, before noticing the swordsman of flame. And the mace-wielder tried to make hollow threats to Nora. However, with how empty Cardin's threats were, they didn't face Kuen and Nora.

Not helping was the fact that Nora and Kuen were glaring at Cardin. However, their own reactions weren't as strong as Jaune's.

In that moment, Jaune felt such fury, such catharsis, that something awakened within him. A bright light emerged from Jaune's chest as he rushed towards Cardin. Holding Crocea Mors in his hand, Jaune struck down Cardin, the light beginning to die down. Cardin winced in pain, as he groaned.

Suddenly, Lark would emerge from nowhere, trying to land a kick on Jaune. Weiss was quick to intercept, however, using her rapier to conjure a mound of ice that would trap Lark.

"You know, Jaune, there are a lot of things I could say about you. You're a bad flirt, a bad fighter," Weiss commented. "But I guess its times like these you show your true self."

"That's not... like you, Weiss Queen. Are you sure you're alright?" Yang asked almost innocently.

"Shut it." Weiss retorted. "It's not like I like him. He's already dating Pyrrha, after all."

Jaune simply chuckled.

Russel and Dove stood next to Cardin and Lark, the latter two on the ground and weakened.

"Wanna finish this, Jaune?" Kuen asked.

"Gladly." Jaune responded.

And Kuen pulled out the Brave Dragon and Peter Fantasista Wonder Ride Books, passing the latter to Jaune.

DRAGON! MM-HM!
ドラゴン!うーん!うーん!

PETER FAN! MM-HM!

And they were suddenly interrupted by a low growl coming from the bushes nearby.

Kuen immediately sent a wave of fire in the direction of the bushes, though his attack became more a wild swing than a calculated strike. And the bushes burned down, revealing... a monster of some kind. A bear monster, much bigger than any of the Ursai that Kuen had ever encountered. It didn't even look like an Ursa.

Jagged spikes stuck from its back, as it roared loudly, scaring the literal life out of Team CRDL. They immediately began to flee, though teams RWBY and JNPR were quick to notice. However, upon further consideration, the monster they had to deal with was a bigger priority than the fleeing members of Team CRDL.

Though, Kuen swore he could hear Russel screaming, "That's a big Ursa!"

"That's... not an Ursa." Pyrrha commented.

"Of course, the Megid comes now of all times... but why a bear one?" Kuen asked.

Moments earlier, another book was taken out from the forbidden bookshelves the Megid owned. This time, however, Zooous, the general that commanded the animalistic beasts, grabbed one of the Alter Ride Books.

He'd wanted to take matters into his own hands for once. He was no longer willing to wait on the sidelines while Storious and Legeiel summoned their own monsters. They'd summoned at least three of four of their own at this point, after all.

Walking onto a cliff that overlooked Forever Fall, Zooous smirked. It was a good thing the Megid constantly had a grasp on where the Kamen Riders were at any time. Sure, there were the other Riders he hadn't accounted for just yet, but he was sure they wouldn't attack unless they absolutely had to.

So this was a good test of strength to see how far it took before the Sword of Logos would have to intervene.

He would flip open the book, as darkness flooded the trees around him.

TSUME HAIROGUMA!
爪廃炉ぐま!
Tsume Hairo-guma!

And multiple black books emerged, forming a stack of large books next to Zooous. Inscriptions were etched into the stack of books, before a figure emerged from the stack of books. Its red eyes glowed, standing out from the black and gold that made up its armor. There was almost a soft growl coming from the Megid, as Zooous simply laughed.

This was the Kuma Megid.

And so, Zooous commanded it to attack, pointing in the direction of the nine members of Teams RWBY and JNPR.

As Kuen stared at the Megid, he gripped the Kaenken Rekka tightly in his hand. He would then insert it back into its slot on the Seiken Swordriver he had equipped, as he would then flip open the Brave Dragon Wonder Ride Book.

BRAVE DRAGON!

He also took the Peter Fantasista Wonder Ride Book from Jaune's hands. It'd been a while since he last used it, so he figured it was worth the shot. There were also the other things that it was good at, so there was that too to consider.

PETER FANTASISTA!

Inserting the two Wonder Ride Books into the Driver, Kuen would then pull out Rekka from the Driver. As it unleashed a flurry of flames, large projections of the two Wonder Ride Books Kuen used formed behind him.

Rekka Battō! Ni-satsu no hon o kasaneshi toki seinaru tsurugi chikara ga yadoru! Wonder Rider! Dragon! Peter Fan!

"Henshin!"

Twirling Rekka, Kuen extended his left hand out, before the large projections of the Wonder Ride Books would open, the fairy of light emerging from the Peter Fantasista Wonder Ride Book. The Brave Dragon would also emerge, twirling around Kuen and forming his armor. The fairy would also twirl around Kuen, before forming the right side of his armor.

Futatsu no zokusei o sonaeshi yaiba ga togi sumasa reru!
ニっの属性た備えし刃が研き澄まされる!
Futatsu no zokusei o sonaeshi yaiba ga togi sumasa reru!

"Let's hope this should be enough." Kuen noted, holding Rekka in front of him.

"Yeah." Nora responded, holding her hammer in her hand.

And so the nine huntsmen-in-training rushed towards the Kuma Megid. Or rather, attempted to charge at it. The main issue of it was that the trees were getting in the way, causing a much more difficult to ensue ahead of them. To make matters worse, they would then notice red eyes glowing in the bushes around them.

"Grimm enclosing!" Yang screamed.

"On it!" Ruby screamed.

The two Riders rushed towards the Megid, while the other seven would handle the Grimm around them. It shouldn't take too long, right?

Kuen and Nora sent out more slashes towards the Megid, as they would send it flying. The Megid had more aces up its sleeves than it expected. It was able to call upon Ursai to assist it, which meant that the other seven had to handle the Grimm it was calling upon.

However, slowly, Kuen and Nora were beginning to push the Megid to the brink of death, with every hit. Kuen was slowly becoming a little more tired by the minute, though he began to ready himself. Nora had also gotten Ikazuchi back from Jaune, which meant the two could proceed to ready their finishers.

"Should we do one finisher, or two?" Kuen asked.

"Wouldn't two be overkill?" Nora inquired.

"Which means that would be the best option."

Nora grinned. She knew what that meant.

The two confronted the Megid, before pressing on the Wonder Ride Books on their belt.

BRAVE DRAGON!
ブレイブドラゴン!
Bureibu Doragon!

"Dragon Wonder!"

LAMP DO ALANGINA!
ランプドアランジーナ!
Ranpu do Aranjīna!

"Alangina Wonder!"

The two would then send out a punch in the direction of the Megid, their respective beasts being summoned. Both the Brave Dragon and Lamp do Alangina would attack the Megid respectively, the Dragon sending out a powerful torrent of fire and Alangina sending out a flurry of electricity.

As the Megid roared, almost desperate to survive, Saber and Espada readied kicks, pushing on the trigger of their respective blades twice.

The two would then jump into the air, before they would then strike the Megid with a powerful kick. Multiple large yellow and red book-like projections would form, before sending the Megid downwards with the kick. And with each book projection they went through, constructs of the Kaenken Rekka and Raimeiken Ikauchi would form behind them.

And as they landed on the ground, they slammed the monster into the earth, causing it to explode.

And with that, it was done. The two Riders took out the Wonder Ride Books from their Drivers, de-transforming. At the same time too, the other seven were done with their own fights, as they rushed towards Kuen and Nora.

"Well. That's done now, ain't it?" Kuen grinned.

"Do you think Cardin is going to try to tell Jaune's secret to Professor Goodwitch?" Pyrrha asked.

"Don't worry about it. If Ozpin knew about it, he'd probably tell her herself, anyways." Kuen shrugged. "Now, we better get back to Professor Peach before she kills us. It's almost the deadline time, anyways."

"Now, where's the sap?" Ren asked, looking around.

Jaune and Pyrrha stood against each other, their weapons drawn.

Jaune took a deep breath, holding his sword, as Pyrrha would simply smirk.

"Come on, Jaune, is that all you've got?"

"I'm trying my best! It's not my fault you're the master fighter here!"

"At least you're trying." She smiled.

The two continued clashing, as Pyrrha would continue parrying Jaune's swings. His swings were mostly wild, though the longer the two sparred, the more refined his technique was becoming.

And as Jaune spotted what was an opening in her defense, he struck. Unfortunately for him, she'd accounted for said opening, as quickly used her spear to parry the blow. And Jaune simply smiled.

"Got you." He muttered.

"Wait, wha-"

In that moment, Jaune used his head to headbutt Pyrrha in the chest, sending her backwards. Both of them could only look satisfied with the chain of events, as Jaune winced a little.

"Ow, I should have not done that." Jaune rubbed his head.

"Well, you're the one thinking that it's good to headbutt someone in the chest region, where there's probably the most armor."

"I mean, a lot of shows do that, so I figured that I'd try?"

"It's a good strategy, nonetheless. Though it sounds like the kind that Kuen would do."

"Knowing him, he'd probably do that." Jaune responded.

The two chuckled.
