Chapter 33: Madison
Mentor Kenway,
Madison is still not a Templar. I'm fairly certain you have asked me this before. It is not that I have not considered it, but, as I have told you in the past, James is of far more use to me as he is.
You and I, who know the truth of this world, know that mankind was created as slaves for the Precursors. Madison believes, truly and utterly, that man was born free. It this belief that makes him so valuable to me; he thinks in a manner that you and I cannot.
Madison's decision to declare war was not ordered by me. That said, the timing was propitious; had he delayed longer, someone far more reasonable may have assumed the ministership in Britain.
Yours,
Shay Patrick Cormac
Grandmaster of the American Rite
Mr. Miles,
James Madison declared war in 1812, dating this letter to that year. Cormac appears to be referencing the assassination of Percival, a British Templar. Is it possible that Cormac wanted this war? It certainly worked to his benefit.
I suppose I should be glad not everyone who worked on the American Constitution was a Templar… assuming Cormac was telling the truth about Madison.
Shaun
