HOLY SHIT. That is a fuck ton of words. And yet FanFiction makes it look so small, you ever get that guys, you write like ten thousands on Google Doc or Word and it's like fifty two pages alone, but you put it Fanfiction and it looks small in comparison. I digress but you get it.
We're back with a BURNING VENGEANCE! With possibly the longest I have ever written. Maybe I should have split it into two chapters, but at the same time I am sticking with seven, because of a certain you would notice and I hope to god people figure it out by the final chapter. It's not in your face, but I think if you are a well verse Green Lantern fan you'll immediately figure it out. Hopefully. Probably.
I'm sorry it took this long, as soon as Chapter Eight was done I immediately went onto this one, but I'll explain at the end why it took some time. By the time you guys are reading this I'll be working on chapter ten, which will hopefully be shorter then this one. Let's get into the reviews.
Rubeneliasrivera: Because it's my FETISH! Yes Lucifer will undoubtly appear, it wouldn't be DC/DMC crossover if he didn't...are you all mind readers? LOL, enjoy the chapter.
Jebest4781: Yes, and please tell me WHAT you (And everyone else) enjoyed about it.
Gwb620: Thanks man. I don't think anyone has voiced a complaint, I just hope they are good and admittedly there are quite a few in the future. Though you could also call it slice of life/solo hero chapter kind of thing. I'll get more into that at the end. Enjoy.
Kujore Rotimi Abraham: Oh baby we're just getting started. I love those stories, I have written smut stories/moments before but I took those stories down because they were terribly written by an edgy teenage by the name Omega108 (Me) and stories like these are written by Artist like Zer0the0mega108, yes I am tooting my own horn, you would be too if you saw how much I have written for this series.
Blazingphoenix123: YEY BOI! Laira is my GL Waifu, tho she is matched by Aya. Ghia'ta is in her own class and deserves her own golden throne don't anyone talk bad about her! Yeah Ragna is very skilled and mostly self-taught for now, take away his super strength and speed he'd be the fourth most skilled fighter in the League in my story of course. He'll get lots...LOTS of training from others tho. Oh Wildcat will appear, but before him we must answer the Canary's cry first. I mean...Red Lantern's do be fun tho. They have a good time. Just you wait. Naw man ask all the question you want and I'll answer to the best of ability. Starfire will appear, not yet but very...VERY...VVVVEEERRRRRYYYYY soon. Um appearance wise...look up Sunsetriders7 Starfire. That's her. Enjoy.
Vein Bloodborne: Something like that, Laira is a very complicated person, a heart of steel you could say. A3A is gonna be so much to write, especially when we change her name for obvious reasons. Isn't that the greatest question for this arc? Will it be answered? In this arc? Maybe. Maybe not. Read and find out.
xXwolfsterXx644: You and me both.
KingofthePhantomDragon: Yeah, this story is gonna be strong with the wholesomeness...and fun steamy times...but they must be earned. LOL if you think Starfire in, you...are...on...some...crazy SHIT. Enjoy!
Blindluck92: Thanks. I make sure everyone new and old enjoys it. Hope you enjoy this one and beyond.
XenoLucifer: That is a very good question with answers that are very layered like Ogres and Onions. If you are going by the game I guess you could just say the same as Rebellion, but if you are looking for more specifics it's a lot more complicated and...requires spoilers which I will not do. I appreciate it tho, and I hope you enjoy.
Phaganax: Thanks dude, yeah development is something I really want to work on, especially on Ragna and the girls. You're gonna see what else Ragna has in that box right now. You mean...(Takes Jojo stance) LIKE A DEVIL'S JUSTICE BESTIARY DOC?! Next you're gonna say 'Are you serious'. XD all jokes aside I had a bestiary made just for this story and when I saw this I had a small tear go down my cheek. Not much in it, gonna take some time. Also spoilers: Ragna has an actual bestiary in this story. WHOOP WHOOP
Guest: Well thank fuck you're not writing him. I can see your point, but jesus does that sound BORING to make Ragna just like Dante, Nero, and Vergil. Those guys are cool because of who they are, sure I based my character off of them (I had to create the template from somewhere), but Ragna must earn the rule of cool his own way. It's why I gave him his own sword and what not. Design wise he is more based on Nero from DMC5 but his coat is DMC4 because that thing is fucking slick. By combat wise he is more Dante/Vergil later on. Not to mention Dante, Vergil, and Nero never dealt with Superman or Batman or any costume wearing freaks. Different universes, different personalities. The only characters who won't be in it are the big FOUR (Dante, Nero, Vergil, and V) because it would take away from my character. Also a lot super heroes are known to make quick quips and joke (Nightwing, Red Robin, Flash's, etc.) so that's not just Spider-Man. I think the only thing I have for that webbed menace is the twitter thing. Yes, Ragna has an actually twitter page, he doesn't talk about it. Thanks tho.
Laplase: Thanks. Review what you liked. Also everyone the poll is up, I forgot to turn it on, I apologize.
Quantum Qwazi: Learn to make sentences. Kidding aside, I'll admit I probably shouldn't have done that, but it was based off the Batman comic in Gods and Monsters. So I'll correct it when I have the time.
IAmMattis: Alright. Yes, just the Galaxy...and nowhere else. Enjoy!
Shank Master: OOF. Big oofster. Well in case you can't tell, there are three colors used (Four if you count silver) so let's go over it: Ragna's sword has three since it based on the twilight sword from the animated Thor movie when he is a kid. Which is a red handle, orange tip things on the side, and the silver blade. Hyde is red, the same color as his sword's handle. Jekyll is blue. Man if you got problems with these weapons wait until you see his arsenal down the line, the fucking rainbow is gonna have seizure. Jokes aside, I understand the ciritcism, I think it's weird, but I get it. Enjoy.
Slayer78: Hey, hey it's okay. You are curious and I love it. Don't take the while thing about tag personal I wasn't attacking the spelling, I was gonna make a joke about Tag and Bink but it slipped my mind. Yes DT is basically an Endgame Level form...and it is just the tip of forms Ragna will get throughout the franchises. I do feel proud of my work, but it makes me ten times happier by the amount of people who follow and fave this story. The numbers that follow/fave me never bothered me, I could be satisfied with one hundred and I'll be happy. It makes me happy that people from other countries are just checking this story out. It really is amazing. I hope you enjoy and I got a special surprise at the end.
SaiyatonianSage: I do have an ass, and I too love it as well. XD Yeah you're gonna get a lot of Ragna feeling small in comparison because...spoilers he is. Well with how big this story is gonna be it's gonna be mentioned one way or another. The Wonderdome is pretty early game by dude, we gotta wait for some time. She's much more the slice of life in this arc since Ragna had his time and now must fight. Yeah I'm gonna get into the whole John thing at the end...Vixen and John don't date until Unlimited which is never...fucking memory losing slice of life critic XD Why the hell would they be dating now if ever since this story is literally jumping off canon then bouncing a bit but bouncing out again. It's Laira you fucking swine, how dare you say her name like that YOU FUCKING HERE-Sorry, sorry didn't mean that. Okay, okay all jokes aside I'm glad you enjoyed that chapter. Yeah that Jinn Sage guy is weird, he made like two accounts to separate his stories even though he never updates them. What a fucking pleb amirite? Enjoy.
Okay...Okay...I can't stop laughing right now. We have fun here, enjoy the story.

Disclaimers: I do not own anything here. Justice League is owned by DC, DMC is owned by Capcom, but the only thing I own is my OC. Have I not been doing disclaimers btw? I should go back and make sure every chapter has one.
Chapter Nine: Red Dawn Part Two: Of Crimson Red
(A Devil's Justice)
In the vast deep dark ocean of the final frontier, a Green Lantern zoomed past asteroids and worlds at a speed near light thanks to the weightlessness of space. He flew across space with a certain destination in mind, and like a green rocket picked up more speed as his ring notified him that he was close. He stopped in his tracks near a planet with an asteroid ring orbiting around it. He scanned the area for anything out of the ordinary, having been to this system a few times he would know something is out of the ordinary.
He came to this planet as his ring picked up a signal of an unidentified energy source moving within the system of this sector. The readings on this energy was unlike anything he has ever seen, nothing in this sector has ever produced such powerful energy. Now here he was, flying through an asteroid field where the energy source seemed to be radiating from. Scanning the field he could not properly pinpoint the energy, as it seemed to be everywhere.
"This is Green Lantern Shyir Rev of Sector 664, is there anyone out here, please respond!" Shyir said into his ring, sending out a frequency for anyone to hear. Hearing no response, Shyir flew deeper into the asteroid field, looking for any signs of life. His eyes landed on what appeared to be a crashed star cruiser, floating aimlessly among the asteroid field. Shyir floated over, scanning the ship with his ring and saw that the life support system had failed, and the engines were completely destroyed. Shyir looked up at the cockpit, and his eyes widened seeing a hand reached out pushing against the glass.
"Sir, are you injured?" Shyir asked, scanning the dome but saw that the lifeform displayed no signs of internal damage.
"P-please help…" A raspy voice whimpered within the cockpit. Shyir constructed a dome around the shuttle in case the creature had no air suit, before firing a beam around the glass and ripping it off. Shyir let it float away as he hovered closer to get a good look at the alien.
"It's alright sir, I'm here to he-AAAAARRRRGGHHHHH!" Shyir painful scream tore across the field as a red beam of energy fired from the cockpit, smashing him into an asteroid and shattering it. Shyir groaned as a nearly unbearable pain coursed through his body, small flickers of flame danced around his suit, and he suddenly felt his anger for this creature that attacked him skyrocket that it actually hurt more then the flames themselves. He also noted how powerful this creature was, and that this weird flame that still lingered on his body had something to do with his anger, growling as the creature floated out of the shuttle. The creature looked to be a native to the world of Noc'sag much like Galius, however he only had two legs and arms, and instead of wearing green like his comrade, the creature was crimson like a red star.
"Feeling a little tense, Green Lantern filth? Well don't worry, I've got just the remedy for that. DEATH!" The creature roared, firing a red beam of energy from it's hand. Shyir fired back with a green beam of light, however, the red quickly overpowered his beam and nearly took his head off had he not jumped out of the way. Shyir realized this guy was incredibly strong, and that this anger that he suddenly felt was overtaking his senses. Seeing no other choice, Shyir bolted off the asteroid and flew away, the flames disappearing from the speed and the anger he felt was subsiding slowly. He didn't know if he could face this threat, not alone at least.
"This is Green Lantern Shyir, calling all available lanterns, please respond!" Shyir said to his ring. "I am in need of reinforc-!" Shyir cried out in anguish as a beam of red hit him in the side, sending him through several asteroids and finally crashing on a mountain-sized one. Shyir groaned in pain pulling himself out of the rubble, a shadow looming over him. Looking up, Shyir eyes widened seeing another figure, adorning red and black armor with curved horns over his head, grey skin and blood spilling out of the corner of his mouth.
"No one is coming to save you, Lantern." The being growled, as several more shadows appeared behind him, each one adorning their own red and black costume. What shocked Shyir the most was what was in each of their right hands, resting in their finger between the middle and pinkie.
A red ring.
(A Devil's Justice)
Silence filled the air around the three, Ragna sweating nervously as Laira's body was tense, the only one that seemed to be relaxed between the three was A3A. Her focus was completely on Ragna, her unblinking gaze peering into his blue eyes. He had no idea what she was thinking of, wait can robots even think like they do? She didn't seem to be showing any signs of hostility, but for all he knew that was a ruse to lower his guard.
Laira was on the same boat with Ragna, eyeing A3A with her ring prepared to blast the robot to smithereens. She still couldn't believe this machine was able to slip behind them without being noticed, cursing under her breath. She must have been focused on Ragna and what happened between them that all of her senses were dulled.
"I hope I am not interrupting something important." A3A said, looking between the two, looking back at Ragna. "I was looking for you, I wish to speak with you privately." The last part was directed towards Laira, who glared emerald daggers into A3A's eyes.
"After what you and those wretched machines did, you expect me to just let you speak with him? I should just destroy you and be done." Laira seethed with venom in her voice, her emerald ring glowing brighter, despite this A3A made no signs of retaliation. Ragna was about to step in between the two, but A3A beat him to it.
"You do not need to leave, you may be a few steps away in that direction," A3A gestured to the pillar nearby as she continued. "I simply wish to speak with him privately…...If that is alright with you?" Her attention turned to Ragna, who looked ready to jump between the two at a moment's notice. Ragna looked back at the machine, it seemed whatever he had done to the machine had caused her to seek him out. She must have taken a while to search for him, and he felt like a jerk if he refused.
"It's okay, Laira." Ragna reassured, giving the veteran lantern a grin and thumbs up. Laira was shocked that Ragna was going along with this lunatic machine, but she had to admit if anyone could handle these monsters with ease it was him. With a sigh of annoyance, Laira brushed past A3A and made her way over to the nearby pillar. "I would say sorry for the way she is acting, but considering what has happened in the last few hours I blame her."
"I agree, I do not blame her or any Lantern for having any malice for what I did." A3A stated, surprising Ragna. This A3A was completely different then her past version, it was as if the energy had completely rewrote her entire being. Even her voice was different to some degree, to where as a Manhunter she was cold and grating, with her new appearance her voice was smooth like silk, yet it was still
"Honestly, you seem very calm with everything that happened. I was fully expecting you too be swearing some weird vengeance against me till the ends of time." Ragna joked.
A3A did not laugh.
"I do not see why I would. After the energy from your sword struck me, it felt as if a weight was taken off me, my Manhunter program was erased, the last thing I remember was you holding me." A3A explained, lifting her hand up, flexing her fingers as if it was the most interesting thing she has ever seen. "It seems the energy has not only replaced my outer metallic shell with this green exoskeleton that seems to radiate the same energy as a Lantern ring, like flesh yet within my body I am still machin… Is something wrong?" A3A asked, noticing Ragna scratching the top of his head.
"I uh….you kind of lost me."
"...To simplify, I am both energy like the Lantern's ring and machinery combined. Synthetic skin so to speak." A3A stated, taking Ragna's arm and pressing it against her other arm. Ragna felt his cheeks heat up touching what was basically a girl's arm, and he had to admit, it was surprisingly soft for an alien robot. He tentatively gave her arm a squeeze, A3A features made no immediate reaction, but he noticed her fingers twitched a bit.
"As you can see, it is quite soft. Interesting, is it not?"
"..."
"...Sparda?"
"...Hmm?" Ragna hummed, looking back up and into her emerald eyes. "Sorry, I-!"
"Why do you apologize?" A3A cut off, Ragna tilting his head in confusion, and made note that she seemed to be copying his movement.
"What do you mean?"
"You have nothing to apologize for, in fact I found it very strange when you apologized to me back on Ajuris when I arrested you. The Manhunters and I were the ones that landed on your planet, and I initiated the fight between us and your friends." A3A listed off, she did not understand why Ragna was so apologetic, by all accounts, it made no logical sense.
"...Well I kinda kicked your butt twice, so that makes us even." Ragna mused, looking away while picking his ear with his pinky. "My mom always told me to apologize if you felt you did something wrong, and it would be wrong if we got off the wrong foot and never tried to amend and maybe become friends or something."
"...You are a very strange earthling, Sparda." A3A stated.
"Heh, I get that a lot, and since we seem to be turning a new leaf, you can call me Ragna. Ragna Redgrave. Sparda is just a hero name." Ragna said with a smirk, holding his hand. A3A looked down at his hand then back at the earthling, slowly taking his hand in hers. Thanks to her strange gauntlets wrapped around her entire hand save for her fingers it was a little awkward at first, shaking her hand.
"I am former Manhunter, now current AI A3A." A3A stated matter as fact, making Ragna chuckle.
"We're gonna need a shorter name…..Hey, by the way, I thought that scientist Guardian was studying you and my sword in her lab. How did you get out?"
"I was able to hack into the Green Lantern Security System, allowing me to walk out of the facility. She was still studying your sword so I made it out and kept low. It was not hard to find you, since you are the only one not completely enveloped in the lantern energy." A3A explained, taking a step back. "The reason I came to speak with you is because I felt the need to apologize."
"..." Ragna made no indication to speak, so A3A took the initiative.
"I apologize for all the pain the Manhunters and I did to you and your friends, for framing Green Lantern John Stewart, and declaring war and trying to destroy the Corps." A3A stated, bowing her head towards Ragna. Said hero didn't really know how to respond to it, quite surprised that she went out of her way to apologize for all they did.
"...Apology accepted." A3A looked back up, her head tilted in confusion.
"You accept it?"
"Well, to be honest from what I heard no Green Lantern was killed during the fight, badly hurt but nothing too severe, you didn't blow up Ajuris and John was saved before he could be punished, so I'd say things went great all things considered." Ragna said, rubbing his chin.
"That being said if anyone deserves an apology it's the others, John and the rest of the Corps." A3A nodded her head, understanding what he meant. Even if she only wanted to apologize to Ragna, she did see it was logical to apologize to John Stewart and the other lanterns for what the Manhunters did. Ragna felt like it would take some time before any of the Lanterns would fully forgive A3A, if not just outright destroy her, living proof is right behind him with a dagger between her fingers as she watched the two converse.
He knew fully well how hard it was to forget.
"Perhaps I shall apologize now, if it wouldn't be any trouble, I wish for you to join me." A3A said, standing back up to full height.
"Aw, like my company already?" Ragna teased.
"Should they ever try to open fire on me, you shall be a very sturdy shield." A3A admitted, making Ragna give her a deadpan stay.
"...Fair enough." Ragna admitted, stepping aside. "Lead the way, A3A…...we gotta shorten that name." Ragna muttered as they walked side by side towards Laira, watching as she balanced the tip of a dagger construct over her finger with ease.
"I see the conversation went well." Laira said, flicking the dagger off her finger and letting it disappear.
"Yes. In fact I too have something to say to you, Green Lantern Laira Omoto." A3A stated, bowing her head. "I apo-!"
"Save it, it's going to take a lot more than an apology to make up for what you did, especially for a machine." Laira seethed, her features remained stoic but her tone laced with a venomous bite. He didn't really like the tone considering how much A3A was risking being out here, but he also really couldn't blame her.
"I understand, this was the most reasonable outcome I was expecting." A3A said, standing back up and turning to Ragna. "Perhaps I should start with Green Lantern John Stewart, since it was him we used to set this all in motion."
"I'd think that would be a good start." Ragna said, turning to Laira. "Want to join us?" Laira narrowed her eyes at Ragna, walking past A3A and pulling him by his arm away from the robot. Once they were a good distance away, she stopped and turned to Ragna, whispering in a harsh tone.
"After what they have done, can you really trust her?" Laira asked, narrowing her eyes back at the robot, who made no notion she was listening. Ragna looked back and watched as A3A looked up towards the sky, tracing the green lanterns above them. Ragna will admit what the Manhunters did was terrible, A3A among them….but this A3A was different, she seemed to be searching for forgiveness even if it was simply out of logical conclusion. There are things he could never forgive, but this….this was different.
"I can't say for certain, but she took a lot of risk doing this, since most lanterns would rather destroy her. Maybe she shouldn't be forgiven so easily, but we should take the next step in forgiving her." Ragna said, stepping back from Laira.
"You make it sound so easy to forgive and forget." Laira said, making Ragna wince at the implication. He wanted to turn around and tell her what he truly thought, what he wanted to forgive.
What he hated more than anything in this universe.
…..Dem
"We should at least try." Ragna said, walking away from Laira and towards A3A.
"Did the conversation go well?"
"Hopefully as well as yours with John." Ragna said, the two walking away. Footsteps echoed behind them, Ragna looking to his right to see Laira walking beside him with a frown on her lips.
"I knew you cared." Ragna teased, making Laira shake her head.
"The only reason I am coming along is to make sure IT doesn't try anything." Laira stated, turning to A3A with a dagger in hand.
"I am not surprised that this is your first response." A3A said.
"What are you trying to say, machine?" Laira asked.
"That this is a very logical reaction from you. I apologize if that is too complicated for you." A3A stated.
"I'm so glad you two are getting along so well." Ragna joked, ignoring the confused glance from A3A and the glare from Laira. As they walked around trying to find their way towards John, with Ragna heightened sense of smell it was easier to track him, he also realized something he needed to know.
"Hey, A3A?"
"Yes?"
"...Why were the Manhunters shut down, and some reverted into a security force?" Ragna asked, the robot looking up at him, and while she showed no reaction, Laira was surprised by the question. A3A looked forward, her eyes glowing green, processing as if she was thinking.
"...I am not sure, I was not functioning until a few thousand years ago, most of the Manhunters were deactivated millions of years before. Whatever data they have over the Manhunters has been erased from the archives." A3A explained, Ragna began to worry, why did the Guardians delete most of the history of the Manhunters? What did they do that caused them to erase their actions from history?
(A Devil's Justice)
"And there he is." Kyle said from the seat within the pseudo bar that many green lanterns went too off duty on Oa, gesturing to Ragna walking with Laira on his right. Kyle, Hal, John, and Kilowog all sat around a diner booth in the corner. It didn't take long for Ragna to find them, their aroma becoming stronger once he got closer. Noticing Laira beside the hero, Kyle gave a teasing smirk. "Glad to see you two getting along."
"Yep, the best of friends!" Ragna said, resting his hands behind his head.
"What took you so long, got lost?" John asked, crossing his arms.
"I had a talk with Ganthet, he brought me to this Book of Oa, and I met up with Laira. That's not all, we met someone who has a few things to say." Ragna said, stepping aside to reveal A3A standing behind him. The four lanterns were jaw dropped, Kilowog clenching his fist in rage while Hal and Kyle were on edge, John glaring at the robot.
"And why is that thing here?" Kilowog growled, his ring glowing. A3A was not surprised by this reaction, it was the most probable outcome, what did surprise her again was Ragna standing between her and A3A.
"Guys, this is A3A, and she has something to sa-!"
"Kid, you don't expect us to just forgive this machine after what they tried to do!" Kilowog growled, glaring at the A3A.
"Maybe, maybe not. I do think you guys should hear her out." Ragna said, stepping aside and letting A3A step forward. A3A looked at each and every lantern, unblinking as she studied each of their movements, all four were tense. A hand pressed against her shoulder, making her look up at Ragna, a reassuring smile on his face and nodding his head.
"I apologize for all that the Manhunters and I have caused you, Green Lanterns." A3A said, bowing her head at them, before turning to John. "I apologize for the Manhunter's that framed you, Green Lantern John Stewart." A3A finished, standing back up, waiting for John's response. John glared up at the machine gazing right back into her unblinking eyes, seeing no reason he just does the Corps a favor and terminates the machine. However, one look at Ragna, seeing his blue eyes and small smile looking at John with a small twinkle of hope in them, realized that the kid wanted them to mend some sort of bridge. John looked away at his drink, letting out a long and tired sigh.
"Sorry Tin can, I appreciate the apology, but it just ain't that easy." John said, shaking his head.
"I understand." A3A said. This was the most logical outcome, as the others silently agreed with him. Ragna looked around the small group, noticing the tension was still in the air, it was nothing like this when he was with his friends. He should visit them when he gets home.
"How about we all sit down and relax, I'm sure that science director will be done extracting all that energy within my sword." Ragna reasoned, seeing no harm to try and make everyone get along with each other. Kyle knew what the kid was trying to do, and seeing how the group was getting a little tense, it wouldn't be so bad to lighten the mood.
"Sure, the more, the merrier." Kyle said, scooting further into the booth next to Hal. Laira took the offer sitting by Kyle, Ragna followed behind her and A3A sat at the end beside him. The entire table was quiet, the small tapping on the table thanks to Ragna was the only sound anyone would make. Most of them had a heated gaze on A3A, and Ragna knew he had to try and ease the tension in the air.
"So…...they got any pizza he-?" Suddenly, the five lantern rings started beeping, as well as A3A eyes glowing brighter than before. "What's going on?"
"A green lantern has released an emergency beacon, it has been reached by every Guardian on Oa." A3A explained. "The message was sent by Green Lantern Shyir Rev of 664."
"Who?" Ragna asked.
"Shyir? That was one of my recruits a few years ago, he became a fully fledged lantern two years ago." Kilowog explained, John hopping out of the seat with Kilowog behind.
"Come on, if we got the message, I'm sure the Guardians got it too." With that John and Kilowog flew out of the bar, Hal and Kyle flew out of their seats after them, and lastly Laira flipped out of the booth and flew right out, leaving Ragna and A3A alone.
"...I guess we should join them?"
"That would be the most logical decision." Ragna hopped over the table and bolted outside, A3A flying behind him with green light from the bottom of her metallic boots.
"I must ask, what is pizza?" A3A asked.
"...If only you were still a manhunter." Ragna grumbled.
(A Devil's Justice)
The Guardians floated above the Lanterns below, a green ring serving as their 'chair' so to speak, as Ragna and A3A walked in. There were a great many Lanterns within the room, standing outside the glowing green platform in the center of the room as a hologram was being projected above them. Some looked over at Ragna, their eyes narrowed at the machine standing beside him. A3A noticed the deathly gazes in her direction, but she felt a hand on her shoulder, looking up she saw Ragna give her a reassuring smile. The two focused back in the center, where John and the others stood front and center, a hologram replaying over and over again.
"This is Green Lantern Shyir, calling all available lanterns, please respond! I am in need of reinforc-GGAAAAAHHHH!" The green lantern in the hologram cried out in pain, a fiery beam of energy sending him out of the screen, before replaying again. Ragna had no idea who was attacking this Shyir guy, but it didn't matter, he needed help.
"Whoever this threat is, must be bigger if a green lantern sent out an emergency beacon." Ganthet reasoned, turning to Appa and Sayd, the other Guardians looking at him.
"Nonsense! This is nothing short but a minimal threat." Appa stated, earning a glare from the human Green Lanterns.
"Regardless," Hal stated, stepping forward. "A Green Lantern is in need of our help. I'll get a team and head out where Shyir last was." Hal said, looking over his shoulder at the others. "Scratch that, already got that one, if you guys are up to it."
"Like you need to ask." Kyle said, stepping forward.
"Count me in. I can handle the cadets after I bring one of my own back home." Kilowog agreed.
"I doubt even Shyir would waste an emergency beacon without reason, whoever he is facing will need all the firepower we can muster." Laira stated, stepping forward. The four looked back at John, who held his ring hand out.
"Let's go save us a Lantern." John said.
"Very well," Ganthet said, gaining the five lanterns' attention. "Shyir's last location was in the western point within Sector 665. You shall leave immediately." With that, most of the Lanterns in the room left, leaving the small group, some of the Guardians, and Ragna.
"Alright!" Everyone turned to Ragna, said hero walking towards the group with A3A behind him. "I'm ready to kick some bad guy butt, ready when you guys are."
"We're going to save him. YOU'RE staying here and when they have a transport or lantern ready, you're heading straight home." John stated as a matter of fact, shocking Ragna.
"What?!" Ragna asked.
"You need to head home, kid, you have a lot of responsibility there going to school and being a hero, you got your job and we got ours." John said, crossing his arms.
"I do have a job, and that involves helping lives, just like this one." Ragna countered, if this Shyir was in trouble, the group is gonna need all the help they can get. "A3A and I will be able to help ou-!"
"What is that machine doing here?!" The group turned to see the guardians floating towards them. The Science Director glared at the duo, moreso on A3A then Ragna, wondering how she got out of the research department. Ragna's eyes looked back and forth between A3A and the Guardians several times, before slowly sliding in front of the machine, obscuring her view.
"What machine?"
"Ragna." John stated sternly, narrowing his eyes at the young hero. "This isn't up for debate, you're staying here, and I'm not asking."
"B-But I-!"
"But nothing. That's an order, kid." John stated, flying past the hero and not giving him a second to argue, Ragna sighed lowering his head in defeat. He didn't see any reason why he couldn't join, he could care less about school if someone's life was in danger.
"Hey," Ragna looked up to see Hal and Kyle walking towards him, Hal placing a hand on his shoulder. "Don't worry kid, we'll be back, nothing we haven't handled before."
"Yeah." Kyle said, patting Ragna on the shoulder. "Well be back and getting you home before you can say 'up, up, and away." With that the two flew after John, Kilowog slowly trailing behind them.
"See ya later, poozer." Kilowog grunted, flying after them. Ragna looked over his shoulder watching them leave, turning back around and seeing Laira standing face to face with him. He couldn't tell what she was thinking, practically wearing a mask at this point.
"...Good luck, I guess." Ragna muttered, rubbing his head awkwardly.
"...Keep your guard up." Laira said, eyes trailing over to A3A, walking past Ragna and taking flight. Ragna turned around and watched her leave, a phantom frown forming on his lips, one that A3A noticed for a second. She did not understand why Ragna was so keen on saving one life, since five were already heading there now and these five were considered one of the best Green Lantern's around. His eyes held a fire of determination and…...something she couldn't quite describe.
"Why is that thing out and about?!" Both turned around to see the Guardians floating there, who had been patiently waiting and few seething seeing A3A, Appa and the Scientist director glaring at the machine.
"A3A found me and she apologized for all she had done." Ragna explained, stepping in front of A3A in case they tried anything. However, to his surprise A3A stepped past him and bowed her head.
"I apologize Guardians, for all the transgressions that the Manhunters and I caused." A3A stated. The gained a mix of reactions, with Appa and the director glaring at the machine, Sayd and the others surprised, while Ganthet had a small smile on his face.
"We do not care for this apology, after what you had done you'd be lucky we don't scrap you down into molten slag." Appa said, floating closer and closer to the two. "It's bad enough we must entertain the Son of Sparda, but now we have a Manhunter walking around as if it is free to do whatever it wants."
"Hey, leave her al-!" Before Ragna could finish, Ganthet floated over, hoping to calm any tension before it started reaching a breaking point.
"Perhaps it would be wise, Ragna, that you take the Manhunter and return her to the science division." Ganthet suggested, Ragna looked into Ganthet's eyes and saw how worried this could escalate. Not seeing any reason to argue, though he had a few things to say to Appa about calling A3A an 'it' in such a rude tone. Nodding his head, he gestured to A3A to follow, the two leaving the Guardians to their own devices.
"I do not think it is wise to leave him with the machine." The science director advised, floating over to Ganthet.
"I do not see any problems coming out of it, it seems the manhunter is fully compliant and seems too have grown attached to the earthling." Ganthet mused.
"Attached? You mean manipulating, machine or not that thing is a Manhunter, Ganthet." Sayd said cautiously.
"Yes, a manhunter…." Ganthet trailed off, eyes looking over his shoulder and towards the science director, who noticed this and looked away in annoyance. "Regardless, it is just one machine on an entire planet of lanterns and THEE Son of Sparda." Ganthet reminded.
"He thankfully lacks the raw power his father had even to this day." Appa grumbled.
"Actually, that is what I wish to speak about." The director stated, waving her hand, a hologram of Ragna and his sword appeared. "His sword still radiates with the green energy of the central battery, but not only that, his body once radiated with it, no doubt his sword couldn't take the full force of the blast. Yet from the scans it showed that all the energy that his body radiates has been transferred somewhere in his left hip side." The director explained, showing a spiraling sphere of energy around hologram Ragna's hip.
"And can you extract the energy from his weapon?" Appa asked.
"I have already tried, but I am unable to. It is as if the sword refuses to remove the energy." She said, scowling at such a ludicrous conclusion. Ganthet rubbed his chin in thought, truth be told he did not see the danger of the green energy, as it was mostly used for good. Ragna was a hero in his world, and so far he didn't even know how to use the energy.
"The boy doesn't seem to understand how he can use this power, though we should extract that energy as soon as possible. In the meantime, perhaps we should take a recess, or as the humans say, a coffee break." Ganthet said, floating away from the group, ignoring the curious gaze of Sayd, wondering where he was heading, as did Appa. Meanwhile, Ganthet knew that Ragna seemed downtrodden by being forced to stay here while others went to save lives. This threat that Shyir was facing must be something if he sent the worldwide emergency signal, but he knew the others would be against this. So, while he cannot help them directly, he is not afraid to push them in the right direction.
( A Devil's Justice)
A3A walked side by side with Ragna, noticing the frown on his lips, his hands in his pocket as they traveled around the lower levels of Oa. He has been since they left the main command center for the lanterns, and she didn't need to be a mind reader to know what he was thinking of. She could not understand why he was so upset, after all it was some of the best lanterns going out and saving the lantern Shyir.
"If it is of any consolation, I would like to take you with them. However, I am unable to make constructs like the others, so I will not be able to carry you." A3A said as a matter of fact, holding a finger up. "Also I am not able to travel as fast as they are, at least with some augmentations I might be able to."
"...Thanks." Ragna muttered, looking up towards the sky. "I guess by now John and the others are halfway there."
"Thanks to the zero gravity of space, Green Lantern's are only capable of reaching half the speed of light, they are unable to do it while on a planet. It is wise to construct a spacecraft as it is a very necessary way of travel." A3A explained, seeing that Ragna was still upset. "I am confused why you are upset, you know that the others are fully capable of handling themselves."
"Yeah, I know they can handle it, I don't know, I just really don't like standing around when I can go save another life. It also just doesn't sit well, who would send a worldwide emergency signal for some random thug or pirates? Accident or not it just doesn't sit well with me." Ragna said, leaning against a rail. "I can't sit by while someone is in trouble, my dad wouldn't and neither would the heroes on my planet." Ragna said. A3A noticed the hardened gaze on the young man's face, but his eyes were full of determination.
"I….do not understand. Is being a hero that important to you?" A3A asked.
"It's all I wanted to be, a hero for my mo…..for someone very close to me. Now I want to be a hero for my world…..maybe all of them." Ragna stated, rubbing his right arm as if he was feeling a phantom pain.
"Well said, Ragna." Both turned to see Ganthet floating towards them. "However, I do believe even earthlings at your age go to an educational complex on your planet, yes?"
"You mean school?" Ragna asked, and as he realized, school was tomorrow. "But what about John and my sword?"
"Once John returns to Oa with the others, I'll make sure he returns it to you." Ganthet assured Ragna. "Have faith in them, Ragna."
"I-I do! It's…..it's just…." Ragna sighed in defeat, lowering his head. Ganthet didn't not to read the boys mind, noting that he had some form of block deep within, to know Ragna was trying to do the right thing.
"I believe it is time you go home, Ragna, if you would follow me." Ganthet said, floating past him and down the walkway. Ragna and A3A looked at each other, before slowly following after Ganthet. The two trailed behind Ganthet, traveling through the lower levels for sometime, eventually they made their way towards another tower. The three walked into an elevator, Ragna wondering what Ganthet had in store for them. The elevator stopped and the three walked down a corridor, until Ganthet turned right and a set of doors slid open, Ragna's eyes widened in surprise at what was inside.
A white and green ship that seemed to have a flatter appearance, the center in the shape of a circle, two wings on the end, and the tail on the backside. On top of the tail, green energy danced within a glass dome.
"Ganthet, what is this?" Ragna asked, slowly holding his phone up and taking a picture.
"Oh this? That is the Interceptor, an experimental prototype powered by the green energy itself, it is potentially one of, if not the, fastest ship in the universe." Ganthet explained. From the landed pad, a lantern that appeared to be a crystallized-sphere with four tentacles, instead of eyes it had two large white dots and a large lantern symbol where it's mouth would be at.
"Greetings, Ganthet!" The lantern chipper voice was mechanical, as it floated over to the Guardian.
"This is Green Lantern Chaselon, he helped build the interceptor, which may I ask is it complete?" Ganthet asked.
"Yes it is, Sir. I just need to send in the final reports to the council, is that why you are here?" Chaselon asked, noticing the two behind Ganthet.
"Not exactly, you see Ragna here must return home, but his only mode of transport is John Stewart." Chaselon nodding his head, as he was in the meeting room on the far end.
"Well I can have the ship started in a second, I just have to bring these to you and the other Guardians which makes my job easier now that you are here. The science director and Appa wanted to see it personally and immediately." Chaselon said, holding out a square datapad towards Ganthet.
"Unfortunately I will not be able to meet with Appa or the others for quite some time as I must meet with a frontier lantern who has returned from the outer reaches." Ganthet said, moving the datapad back into Chaselon space. "However, I should inform you that Appa is just a few towers away, within the northern meeting tower."
"Of course, and afterwards I will bring this guy home…...but what about the machine?" Chaselon said, one tentacle pointing at A3A. A3A tilted her head up as Ragna stepped between her and the lantern in case anything got heated. However, being the voice of reason, Ganthet was able to defuse the situation.
"I assure you the machine is harmless, she will be returning to the science division once Ragna leaves." Ganthet said, Chaselon nodded its body in understanding.
"Well, I should probably hurry and give these to Appa, I'll be right back." With that Chaselon left, leaving the three. Ragna turned to A3A, sighing in sadness, as this might be the last time he will see her.
"I guess this is it, it's a shame we didn't get to hang out anymore, I could tell you all the fun stuff that is on Earth. Maybe if you get the chance you can come and visit, without the hostility." Ragna joked, rubbing his nose. A3A did not laugh, as she could not show the same enthusiasm, that she would not be leaving Oa ever again.
"It is not that simple." A3A said.
"Indeed, but I'm sure you two have some time to talk until Chaselon comes back from the northern sector…...or was it the west sector?" Ganthet mused, Ragna cocking an eyebrow in confusion.
"Ganthet?"
"Hmm, I must have forgotten where Appa originally was." Ganthet said nonchalantly, shrugging as he turned to the two. "It seems Chaselon will take some time to find Appa or the others. Oh well, in the meantime why don't you get comfortable in the interceptor, I must go and meet up with a Lantern who did in fact return from the outer frontiers. I hope you do come and visit again soon, Ragna." Ganthet said, floating past Ragna and heading towards the door. "Oh and Ragna?"
"Yeah, Ganthet?"
"Don't be afraid to take a small detour on your way to Earth, there are some interesting places to go and see." Ganthet suggested leaving the room with the two alone with the ship. Ragna looked back at the ship, trying to understand what Ganthet meant. He felt a lightbulb pop in his head, realizing what he should do.
"Hey A3A?" Said machine turned to Ragna, noticing his smile getting bigger and bigger.
"Yes, Ragna?"
"Wanna go do some sightseeing?"
By the time Chaselon had returned, grumbling to himself on how long it took to find Appa and how he wasn't even in the right tower, the lantern realized something was very very wrong.
"WHERE'S THE SHIP?!"
(A Devil's Justice)
"Ragna made no mention of this Botis fellow to me." Diana thought, rereading the same journal entry over and over again. During her time here she had never heard of such a creature or any mention of this Botis by Ragna. Then again, she didn't go out of her way to ask such things, as it was deemed unnecessary and boring in her eyes.
"Perhaps he mentioned something else that I must have missed." Diana muttered, flipping back to the beginning, skipping the first couple of logs and started reading again.
'Hero's Log 23. Faced a new demon class that I never saw before, a Hell Taurus, a very powerful demon within the first circle, and if I wasn't careful my head would have been tossed off. I got lucky when I was able to slam my fist through its chest cavity. Killed a Taurus so that's a new achievement. Achievement Unlocked! (Look on notebook 3 for achievement list).
"...Did he actually make a notebook for achievements?" Diana asked out loud, she would believe so many things, but to believe someone had an entire notebook dedicated to achievements was just…..Ragna. Looking back down she went back to reading the logs she must have skimmed over.
Hero's Log 33. I've come to learn that normal bullets don't affect Demons, as a group of thugs were shooting some and didn't even dent the monster. I jumped in at the last second and killed it, before knocking the thugs out and letting the cops deal with them. When I returned to check on the demon the body was gone, either it turned to ashes or however demons were died.
Hero's Log 45. I don't know how to explain it, but whatever I am doing it is killing the demons. I was facing two Taurus at the same time, in some construction site west of Redgrave. I don't know what Tobias and his men were up to, but the Taurus attacked before I could stop them. The two Taurus demons were not alone as over a dozen Imps and Gargoyles attacked me. I collided with a supply crate, pistols all around me. I woke up to find myself covered in demon guts and bones, bullet holes in each and everyone of them. One tried to get away but one bullet to the head cleaned right through it. I don't know how I did it, bullets never harmed them before and as far as I could tell (Or smell) they were just normal bullets. The pistols were destroyed so I couldn't really do much with them afterwards but I learned that somehow bullets are affecting them. Does it have something to do with me? Questions for later.
Hero Log's 78. I've been using pistols from thugs to counter the demons. Been pretty useful so far but it seems I overuse them so much that they barely last a few days. Another fun note, I never need to reload, don't know why.
Hero Log's 131. I saved this old lady from a group of thugs, but she was a cranky lady because as soon as I knocked them out she was yelling my ear off about how she could handle it and that youngsters like me should mind their own business. Next, one look at my pistols and she was giving me an earful of how careless I was on the pistols. I tried to explain to her why it happened, and I guess that was enough to convince her to bring me to her shop. Turns out the old lady was a gunsmith and quite the best. She wanted to make a deal with me, I bring her weapons from gangs and criminals, she gives me her best arms, well save for a few.
Hero Log's 178. I've tried to stay out of Ms. Decker's radar, she doesn't have me as a wanted criminal, but she doesn't share the taste in vigilantes as other police forces. They don't shoot at me, but I don't think they have a very high opinion of me.
Hero's Log 199. Well the Old Lady got me a new pair of pistols, very slick and designed to be a prototype of some sort. She calls them 'Ebony and Ivory' and until the final set is made, they are crown jewels. They are very useful, the strongest weapons I've had so far. I hope to make the best of them.
"Ragna had a pair of pistols before?" Diana thought, looking over at the chest and seeing some broken pistols. Against her better judgement, Diana placed the notebook aside and walked over to the chest. She rummaged through the chest, trying to find two pairs that would fit, but most were broken beyond repair until her hands landed on something. It was a small black box set in the corner of the chest, pulling it out she placed it in her lap. Unlocking the box, she slowly opened it to find two pistols, one black and one silver that were not just broken, they were destroyed.
The metal melted like slag, and the handles were crushed, it was as if the pistols were flung into a pit of lava but survived. Diana did not see why Ragna would keep this junk, it seemed like a waste of space. Ragna was a very strange being, she couldn't really explain it. Though with his lifestyle and family it made sense he was much different than everyone else. Diana closed the box and put it back in the bigger chest. She stood up and moved over to the couch, thinking about what Ragna has gone through.
KNOCK KNOCK
"Ragna? Are you in there?" A deep voice asked, making Diana nearly jump from the couch and break Ragna's coffee table. She was floating above the table, eyes staring at the door expecting someone to just walk in.
"Ragna! You in there?!" This time, a female voice exclaimed from the other side of the door. Diana soon realized these must be Ragna's friends from school. No doubt visiting Ragna, except he wasn't here. Should she open the door and tell them he is gone, but how could she explain herself being in his room. Maybe she could slip through the sliding door and fly out.
"R-Ragna are you okay? You haven't texted back so we came by and checked to see if you wanted to hang out." A light timid voice asked, Kyrie was her name, Diana remembered Ragna mentioning her once. The male must have been Victor and the other girl was Artemis. Diana decided that it would be best if she left, slowly floating over to the glass door and sliding it open as quietly as possible.
"I hear you in there Ragna! I swear if you don't answer this instant, I will kick open your door again!" Artemis threatened on the other side, making Diana stop mid way and look back at the door. One: How did she hear her open the glass door. Two: What did Ragna do that made this Artemis girl kick his door? She could quickly make her escape, but she didn't want them to break Ragna's door. Her eyes widened realizing she hasn't put his chest away and notebooks, it would give away his secret identity. She could do it quickly, but Artemis would try and kick the door down, seeing not many options left she lowered herself down and closed the door. She quickly made her way around the couch and put Ragna's belongings away and slid them back where they were, even taking her bag and placing it in the corner to make sure they didn't stand out. Seeing that everything was back to how she found it, Diana walked over to the door and unlocked it. Opening the door she found her standing in front of a small pale skinned red head, a tall dark skinned boy, and a blonde half caucasian/vietnamese girl with her eyes closed rubbing her forehead. The others were completely jaw dropped seeing such a tall and beautiful woman standing before them, especially in Ragna's apartment of all places!
"Finally, listen it took a lot of work to sneak out of the house so how about we…...who the hell are you?!" Artemis asked, opening her eyes to come face to face with a large set of F-Cup breasts, eyes trailing up to raven hair and high cheekbones. Practically a goddess in human flesh. The four stare at each other, no one had any idea what to say. Seeing how it works for Ragna, she decided to say the first thing that comes to mind.
"Hello?"
Ragna would be proud.
(A Devil's Justice)
"This is the last place Shyir signal was at." John stated, scanning the floating wreckage. The others were scanning around the asteroid field trying to find any sign of Shyir. They had just arrived and already could see something was off, almost like a warzone had gone off. John prayed that they were not too late.
"These scorchs marks don't look like something exploded, more like something was burning." Hal stated, trailing his hand on the burn marks on one of the asteroids.
"What, like fire?" Kyle asked.
"Something like that, the rock is still hot." Hal said, feeling the heat from the burn marks, and for some reason he felt his heart pound even faster and his cheek heating up. He felt...angry, angrier than usual.
"Whoever these poozers that attacked Shyir are, I'm gonna make them pay for this." Kilowog growled, looking at the destroyed asteroids. John hoped they were not too late, he didn't want to jump to that conclusion. As if a gift from the heavens, Laira flew over to them, stopping by John.
"John, I detected several lifeforms on a nearby moon, one had the same DNA structure has Shyir's." Laira informed John nodded his and turned to the others.
"Come on!" With that, the five lanterns flew like green comets towards the moon. They descended onto the moon's surface, racing across it. They arrived at what appeared to be an ancient city in ruins, flying around the buildings.
"Shyir is close, but his ring is low." Laira informed, looking at John as he led them.
"Alright, let's spread out and keep an eye out, who knows if those that attacked Shyir are still ar-GAAAH!" John roared in pain as a red beam of energy blasted him in the back. The others turned around and formed construct barriers, however the red beams pushed against their constructs, surprising the lanterns by such strength. Suddenly a large bile of red liquid splattered around their constructs, corroding the energy and destroying it. Hal formed a hand construct and set it to grab one of the figures, but said being released a battle cry and Hal's construct was destroyed from a shockwave of red flames.
"More Green Lantern's? Well tremble in fear, fools, and feel the might of the Red Lanterns!"
The Green Lanterns' eyes widened at the name, as several figures descended upon them. They all wore the same Lantern like symbol, however unlike them, they wore red and black. Four figures, each clad in red and black but different species. One was at the same height as Kilowog, slightly hunched over with his face completely narrow and malnourished, two antlers pointing upwards. The next was a female with her thighs revealed, a black mask covering her face save for her eyes with bat wings where her ears would be, and skeletal wings that were covered in red energy. The next was like Galius but was red and much more feral. The last was a pale humanoid with black stripes going under his chin and eye clad in red and black armor. Behind them were armored soldiers clad in red armor and flying via jetpack.
"Kill them all!" The humanoid one ordered, a jagged sword forming in his right hand, as the four red lanterns charged. The ball one opened its mouth and spewed out more of the red liquid, while the soldiers fired bolts of energy at them. Hal flew down using a shield to block the blasts and picked up John who was starting to regain consciousness. The four separated and took cover as the red lanterns fired down on them.
"Red Lanterns? What the nark is a red lantern?!" Kilowog growled, as Hal helped John back up.
"Whoever they are, they ain't gonna let us leave without a fight." John said, shaking his head, lifting his ring up. "Let's give them one."
With that John flew out and constructed two shoulder rocket pods, firing several rocket constructs, only for them to be melted away from the red liquid courtesy of the winged female. Kyle and Hal joined Johnwith Kyle forming a large gatling gun and Hal firing a green beam at the group. The red lanterns scattered as the humanoid, the leader by the looks of it, zipped around the blasts and swung his red blade, only to clash with a green staff. Laira stood between the red lantern and Hal, glaring at the red themed lantern before pushing him off and spinning kicking him in the ribs, sending him crashing into a building.
Kilowog jumped out of the cover with a large mace construct, flying into the air and charging at the red lanterns. He swung with the force that could level several streets, only to hit a solid object, coming face to face with the animal like red lantern, red liquid oozing out of his mouth.
"Die." It growled, punching Kilowog through several buildings, before flying right after him. The winged red lantern flew towards Hal, formed long construct claws around her fingers and slashing through his beam of energy, missing his chest and scratching through the green barrier around him. Hal flew back and formed a baseball bat, swinging it at the demoness, only for her to slice through it like butter. His bat quickly formed back and he flew back from another swing, swinging his bat and wacking her side, sending her into a wall.
John and Kyle formed barriers as the sphere red lantern and soldiers fired down upon them, breaking through their constructs and forcing them to dodge, Kyle roaring in pain as the flames burned his left calf.
"Rayner, you okay?!" John said, firing green bolts from his ring. Kyle growled in pain from behind cover, trying to smack the flames away. It was incredibly painful, far more painful whenever he touched something hot on accident when he was a kid. He couldn't explain it but it was making him angry, incredibly angry. However, the anger subsided as the flame flickered away.
"Y-Yeah, yeah I'm okay!" Kyle gasped out, taking his ring and firing at the group above them. The red lantern and it's soldiers pushed their way towards them, only for another green beam of energy to hit them from the side, John looking in that direction and was happy and shocked to see who it was.
"Shyir!" Said Lantern was inside a destroyed building, using the wall as cover as he fired from his ring. Some of the soldiers turned and started firing at Shyir, the lantern jumping out of the building and flying around to meet with John and Kyle.
"Sorry for not reacting sooner, I was still in hidin-Ngghh." Shyir growled in pain, clutching his left side. Kyle lifted Shyir's arm and got a good look at the damage, second degree burns running from his armpits to his thighs.
"The reds got me good, but I can still fight." Shyir grunted. Before Kyle could argue, red liquid melted their barrier, making the three disperse. Shyir roared in pain as red fire blasted him in the back, the winged demoness snarling as she slashed across Shyir's back, sending him flying into a building. On the other side of the street, Laira flew around trying to find the lantern she sent flying. Her senses were on overdrive, trying to find any sign of the red lantern or anything out of the ordinary.
"RRAAAAHHHH!" Laira ducked under a swing that shaved off the tip of her ponytail. She turned around and blocked a swing, sparks flying from the construct weapons. Laira spun the staff like a disk only for the red lantern to block it with his pushing her off him with great strength, releasing a fiery shockwave that sent her flying. Floating to a stop, Laira reformed her construct into two blades and dashed towards the red lantern, who charged with equal force and swung his blade. The two clashed, a flaming jagged sword shattering the emerald blades only for them to be quickly reformed thanks to Laira's lightning fast reaction. The red lantern spun his body and delivered a deadly right kick, pushing Laira off balance, before he spewed out a torrent of fire. Laira jumped out of the way at the last second. She tried to regain her balance but the lantern fired a powerful beam that sent Laira rolling across the ground. Laira growled in anger, clutching her right shoulder as it burned with immense pain.
Across from them, Kilowog growled as he charged at the horned red lantern, the red lantern took his hammer head on and shattered the construct, head butting Kilowog's chest and knocking the wind out of him. Kilowog growled in anger before holding his hands up and clasping them together and slammed them into the red lanterns backside, sending him crashing into the ground breaking the earth part. Kilowog formed a large cannon over his shoulders and fired a beam of green energy, exploding everything in the small dome. Kilowog deformed his construct as the dust settled, only to drop his jaw seeing the horned lantern stand back up with unyielding rage in his eyes.
"RRRRRRAAAAAAHHHHHH!" The red lantern roared, flying into the air like a fireball and charging towards Kilowog. Kilowog growled charging at the beast, a shockwave exploded around them as they headbutted, clasping hands and pushing against each other. Far from them Hal was firing beams at the sphere red lantern and the soldiers maneuvering around them, he could tell they haven't, save for Shyir, fought a green lantern. He formed a bat and flew towards them, knocking one on the side of the head, sending one flying with an upward swing, and sending one crashing into the earth with a swing that would make Babe proud. He ducked under a spew of liquid and fired a beam at the sphere red lantern.
"What you are doing is fruitless! You will all burn under the flames of rage!" He roared laughing maniacally, only for a large green disk to go flying in his mouth, making him cough and gag. Hal looked over his shoulder to see Kyle fly over to him.
"I think you need a breath mint." Kyle mused, Hal shook his head before firing another bolt of green energy, sending the sphere red lantern screaming into a pillar. Before they could cheer in victory Hal cried out in pain as something slashed at his backside, the winged red lantern hissing as she fired a torrent of fire into Kyle's side. Both lantern's crashed into the earth. She landed above Hal, claw construct forming over her hands ready to finish it, only for a blast to send her flying, courtesy of John. Back with Laira, the emerald blade swung her twin blades clashing with the red lanterns sword. She took a deep breath and regained her control, trying her best to ignore the burning pain in her shoulder and bubbling anger within her body. The red lantern blocked with one hand grabbing her right blade, and blocking the left with his sword, blood painting the green blade and corroding it. The red lantern snarled as the red flames consumed his very body, before he roared with rage and released a fiery shockwave that sent Laira flying through several buildings, skating near John.
"Laira?!" John noticed the pain expression on Laira's face, smoke rising off her body. That moment of shock was all the winged lantern needed to release fire from her mouth, striking John in the chest and sent him rolling across the ground next to Laira. Hal and Kyle pulled themselves back up, groaning in pain and clutching a limb or side. Hearing a cry of pain, they all looked up to see Kilowog falling towards them, rolling across the dirt and next to Shyir. The group tried to get up and hold their ground, legs shaking and limbs in immense pain. The four red lanterns landed in front of them.
"Poor green lanterns, you shouldn't have come for him." The winged red lantern hissed, her eyes narrowed at Shyir.
"It matters now, you would've died sooner or later." The sphere lantern growled. The horned one let out a snort, ready to take another charge. The leader pointed his ring at the group, glaring at each and every one of them.
"You're deaths shall be quick and painless, I cannot say the same for the others. This is for all your Guardians have done!" He growled, the others followed suit and aimed their rings at the green lanterns. The GL's formed constructs, Laira's blades, Kilowogs hammer, while the others aimed their rings preparing for a fight.
BOOM
The separate groups looked up into the sky, watching as a green and white ship flew towards them, flying overhead and making a roundabout.
"More green lanterns?!" The sphere red lantern snarled.
"Back up?" Kyle asked, not remembering calling any.
"Well it's a good thing they came in the nick of time." Hal muttered, noticing how low his ring is.
"But who is it?" Laira asked, wondering who came all the way out into this sector to save them with this strange ship.
(A Devil's Justice)
"A3A, not that I'm complaining, but is this really necessary?!" Ragna asked, holding onto his seat. It had been very simple, they walked into the ship and activated it, taking off into the sky and where Shyir's last location was. Ragna would very much enjoy taking the ship for a spin, unfortunately there was one problem.
"Do not worry Ragna, while you may not be able to fly, I am programmed to pilot and control any ship that is known in the universe." A3A stated. As they 'borrowed' the ship, Ragna realized he could not pilot it, heck he didn't even have a car license, A3A thought it was logical if she piloted the ship.
"Okay, but why on my lap?!" Ragna asked, his cheeks red as the smaller robot sat firmling in his lap on the captain's chair. Before he could even step aside to let A3A to drive, the robot saw fit to sit right in his lap, much to his chagrin. For the past ten minutes he tried to keep himself from freaking out as the robot sat on him, he couldn't even protest as it seemed the robot leaned into his chest on the way there.
"I thought it would be wise to make haste to help the lanterns, even if it meant sitting on your lap." A3A stated, seeing nothing wrong with the situation.
"You couldn't have waited until I moved for like a second?!"
"I do not see why you are complaining about it now? We have been traveling for quite some time." A3A rebutted, making Ragna fumble with his words.
"I-I was in sh-shock that you did this!"
"I see. That does explain why your adrenaline is spiking and that your cheeks are heating up from the blood within. Very strange for a human being." A3A stated, looking over her shoulder at Ragna, noting how his cheeks got redder than a red dwarf. "It must also explain why there is blood flowing past your abdomen and into your ge-!"
"Wait, there's John!" Ragna said, pointing out the window, and hoping to change the subject from this awkward situation. A3A looked back and the two noticed four figures standing across from John and his team.
"I am detecting that the Green Lantern's have Shyir, but they are all low on energy." A3A informed.
"Those must be the ones who attacked Shyir, what are they?" Ragna asked, never seen such a vast group of aliens, what made them stand out was the similar suits they wore, almost reminded him of a green lantern except they were red. He noticed something burning on their hands, could it be?
"I do not know, there is no file about the suits they wear, but they are radiating with a powerful energy source." A3A informed. She felt hands grab her waist, as a robot she weighed quite a bit that no normal human could ever lift her, however Ragna lifted her off him with ease.
"Stay here! I'm gonna help the others!" With that Ragna left the command deck clipping his masks and hood on. The landing pad opened up and instead of just falling off, Ragna jumped into the air and flipped himself around, landing feet first on the tail of the ship, looking down at the group below. With a push of his feet, following a shockwave that sent the ship upwards a bit, Ragna sailed towards the group.
"What is that?" The sphere red lantern snarled, squinting his eyes as something flew towards them. Ragna twisted his body so his right foot was extended out, aimed right at his targets forehead.
"HERE'S SPARDA!" Before the red lantern could react, a foot planted itself right in his forehead, the force sent him flying into the winged red lantern, colliding with her body and towards the ground. The horned lantern eyes widened as the two slammed into his chest, sending the three rolling across the ground and into the wall, destroying a large chunk of it and collapsing on them. Ragna spun in the air and landed in front of John and the others, the lantern's shocked by his appearance, and one of them was quickly replaced with anger.
"Ragna?!" John asked astounded that it was Ragna of all people. "What the hell are you do-!" Before he could finish, Ragna heard a battle cry and ducked under a wld swing from the remaining standing lantern.
"No time now, get Shyir and get to the ship, I'll be right behind you!" Ragna said, ducking and weaving around the red lantern's jagged blade. The warrior, despite his rage, was clearly a master in cqc and had lightning fast reflexes. At a time, Ragna could never have contend with warriors like these, at a time he could barely even take a train head on. That was before, when he was weak, now he is much stronger. Ragna ducked under another swing, throwing a right hook that caught the warrior by surprise. Ragna got a good look at the creature, his main focus was the symbol on his chest, it was nearly identical, save for the two lines on the side instead of top and bottom. Ragna didn't understand how it worked, but it confirmed his suspicions when he saw that the red construct blade reformed, a red ring on the alien's finger.
"You're a lantern?"
"I am an agent of vengeance! I do not know what kind creature you are, but if you are affiliated with the Guardians, then you will share their fate!" The warrior roared as he fired a torrent of fire from his lips. Ragna stepped sideways at the last second, but noticed his shoulder caught a small flicker of the flame and slapped it away.
He instantly regretted that.
The small flame became a lake of fire across his hand, Ragna growled in pain, clenching his teeth and trying his hardest not to scream. He couldn't understand why fire has never affected him like this before, save for only demonic fire. This was painful, this was excruciatingly painful, but it wasn't the pain that had surprised him. It was the anger, he felt angry, not the painful kind of angry but just…..furious. He felt his whole face burn up, his body felt hot and it hurt. His head throbbed in pain, accidentally clutching it with his burning hand. Despite the pain it brought the flames did not burn his skin, was that the point? He didn't know or cared, the flames danced around his face and hand. Deep within, he felt his subconscious burn under this rageful fire, and he heard something crack. Ragna couldn't tell, but if he hadn't had his mask on, one could see razor sharp fangs producing from his mouth and his right eye slowly turning black.
….Demo-
"N-No." Ragna muttered, clutching his head with both hands. "Keep it together, keep it together Ragna." The hero muttered, shaking his head and pulling his hands away, his right eye returning to normal and his fangs reforming back into normal teeth. As soon as the anger came it had disappeared, in fact looking at his right hand the flames were gone, unaware of the small flicker on his right side being absorbed into Hyde. Meanwhile, the red lantern watched with curiosity, he was originally gonna kill the boy when he had his chance, but he had never seen anyone react to the flames like that, as he stared at the boy he noticed the flames be absorbed by the strange silver object on his side. He heard the others break free from the rocks but he paid them no mind, as he could sense it within the boy, a great power, a power that fuels the red lanterns.
Rage. Unbreakable, uncontrollable, unyielding rage.
"Ragna!" The red lantern jumped out of the way from a green blast. John flew down and fired more shots creating a dust cloud, flying in and picking up Ragna and heading towards the ship. Once they were in, A3A closed the landing pad and quickly flew off, she felt something hit the ship but seeing as it made no critical damage she continued to fly as far away as possible. Back on the ground, the lantern watched the ship leave as the three joined him, holding his hand up to stop them, the sphere red lantern growling in annoyance.
"What are you doing, Razer?! You're letting them get away!"
"It doesn't matter, Zox, they can only get so far." The leader, Razer, said ignoring Zox's angered growls. "Bleez, is the liberator fully active?"
"It is, Razer." The winged red lantern, Bleez, hissed. "However, as much as it pains me to say this, Zillius is right. You should know that the master will not stand for this, it was foolish to let them go."
"Those lanterns can only get so far, the element of surprise is still on our side. Besides, if they do get the word out of us, it is not much to go on. They have no idea what we are truly capable of." Razer said.
"Kill. Lanterns?" The horned one asked.
"Soon Skallox, very soon." Razer answered. Back on the Interceptor, Ragna grumbled as he rubbed his right hand, it was like he could feel the flames still dancing on his hand. The others were around the area, Laira with Shyir as he laid on some medical bed, Hal and Kyle sitting down in a small lounge area. Kilowog was leaning against a wall, and John was currently standing over Ragna, a frown on his face and a glare that could melt steel.
"What is this ship?" Kyle asked, looking around.
"It's called the Interceptor, it's a prototype ship A3A and I….borrowed with Ganthet's permission." Ragna explained.
"If I may add, unfortunately the ship has taken some damage to the engine, only forty percent is still functional, and I am unable to warp drive. It will take some time to fix this prototype." A3A informed, surprising everyone save for Ragna and Laira, over the comms.
"Prototype indeed, this does not have the necessary medicines we need for Shyir's wounds." Laira explained. "We need to get him to a medical hospital now."
"If...if it's alright with you guys, my home planet is not that far from here. I know someone that can help." Shyir said, holding his ring up and showing a map of the sector, a beeping dot indicating his home.
"Understood. I shall take us there." A3A's voice echoed over the comms.
"Great, the machine is our pilot." Kilowog growled. Ragna flexed his hand, before slowly looking up at John, clearly pissed off for Ragna disobeying a direct order.
"...Jo-!"
"We're gonna talk about this, later." John stated, turning around and walking towards the bridge, leaving Ragna to his own thoughts.
(A Devil's Justice)
Deep in unknown space, within the dark ship, the large figurehead had his back turned to a large floating bile of blood behind him as a small creature purred against his neck. Behind him, displayed by the blood was Razer and the three lanterns.
"They escaped? The green lantern's escaped?!" He asked, his tone raising a few octaves. "You allowed them to escape? Perhaps you do not care for our righteous crusade."
"We live to serve you, oh great master, your will is the very core of my being." Zox cried, groveling before the leader of the red lanterns. Razer and the others rolled their eyes, the creature next to the master gagged, while the master remained impassive. "It was this boy, he allowed them to escape, he was too soft on them!"
"...What do you have to say, Razer?" Razer, who was about to rip Zox's tongue out, growled and turned back to his master.
"Zox lies, but these lanterns were quite skilled, but they were no match. That is until he arrived." Razer held his ring up and projected a strange looking creature with a coat and mask on, for the first time since speaking, the master looked over his shoulder to get a good look at it. "He was able to dispatch Zox and the others with one kick, of which you could consider a lucky shot. However, he reacted to my flames much differently than most would, it was almost as if the flames were bonding with him, consuming him like…...like a red lantern." Razer finished, his master said nothing for a few moments, his sole viewing eye staring at the projection of the warrior.
"What is he called?"
"He said something about... 'Sparda' but one of the Green Lantern's called him Ragna, I believe the first one is a codename of sorts." Razer stated, changing the projection to one of the sectors. "I can however assure you that they will not get away, one of my shots hit the engine and another was used to place a tracker on them. They have still not left the sector nor have they moved in some time, they are very close. What are your orders?" The master rubbed his chin, before staring at his red ring, the very first red ring forged from fire and blood. They could not let it be known that the red lanterns existed, after centuries of planning and building, it cannot become shambles by some band of lapdogs of those blasted Guardians.
"Forget the original plan, find them and use the Liberator, we will destroy those Guardian lackeys. We will burn them with our fiery hatred, that will be their fate." The master ordered, the four red lanterns bowed and the communication ended. The pool of blood dropped and hit the ground, painting it red. The master looked out into the citadel below, the last citadel in this sector, the last bastion for all that remains. His mind wandered to the growing threat that could jeopardize this mission, if Razer and the others did truly stand a match and nearly kill them, what stood in their way?
Ragna. Sparda.
A name he has never heard before. A creature he has never seen before. Whoever this creature was he was the unorthodox player in his plans, he knew long ago that the green lanterns stood no chance, but now this anomaly stands in the way. But if what Razer says is true and his flames affect him then perhaps they can still correct this. Perhaps he can correct this.
"I will return shortly, you will be in charge of Shard until then, Ratchet." The master ordered, walking past a giant brain-like creature with tentacles and the red lantern symbol on it's 'face', the small furry creature floating at his side.
"Master?" The creature, Ratchet, asked telepathically. The leader of the red lanterns ignored him as he exited the command deck, a few minutes later he was flying off to the wall and into the hole the first liberator made, red fire covered him like a rage filled comet, burning everything in his path. He had one goal in mind, a name and a face he cannot forget, and nothing will stand in his way.
(A Devil's Justice)
"OW!"
"Oh stop being such a baby." Shyir chuckled as his wife, Beyana, healed his wound. The others sat nearby, Laira was meditating mid-air while the others sat around some rocks, and A3A was scanning the ship for damage outside the hull. According to her, the communication array was shot, which meant no long term call to Oa.
"Very handy to have a doctor for a wife." Hal complimented, watching as the woman healed her husband.
"Medicine is something I picked up because of my husband's second job." Beyana said, taking her husband's hand in hers.
"She's actually the colony's head geologist." Shyir stated. The colony, of which Ragna could not remember it's name, was on a small moon, even smaller than Earth's moon. "I was an engineer when Beyana and I met. Beyana's the genius who dreamed up using the volcano's lava for thermal power."
"So that's your secret identity? An engineer?" Ragna asked, taking his masks off and putting them inside his coat.
"...Secret what?" Shyir asked, both him and his wife confused.
"Heh, that's these guys hang up." Kilowog said, standing up and walking over to the four humans. "The things on these three are masks. They wear it in case some earthling sneaks onto the interceptor, while we're in space mind you, and goes 'AH HA! THESE RANDOM PEOPLE THAT I NEVER MET ARE HEROES! I'M TELLING EVERYONE!" Kilowog laughed, holding his chest as Shyir and his wife joined.
"Ha, ha. It's easy to laugh when your planet doesn't have paparazzi and the twenty four hour new cycle." Kyle muttered, shaking his head.
"Daddy!" All heads turned to see a small child run up to Shyir, laughing all the way. Ragna's eyes widened, the little girl replaced by him, and Shyir was replaced with his mother, both laughing as she held him. Ragna put a hand to his heart, and A3A notice a spike of energy nearby but thought nothing of it, returning to her work.
"Now who is this giant? What have you done to my daughter Amala?" Shyir asked, smiling as his daughter giggled.
"I'm Amala." The daughter said, wrapping her small arms around his neck.
"Now, now. Time for hugs later, your father must rest." Beyana said, taking their child and holding her close.
"Night daddy." Amala waved goodbye as the two left.
"That is a cute little girl you have, Shyir." Ragna said, resting his hands on his knees.
"That she is, she is all the willpower I need." Shyir said, turning to Ragna and decided to ask what has been on his mind since seeing this earthling. "I notice by the lack of green you aren't part of the corps, how is it you managed to 'borrow' this interceptor along with…..that machine." Shyir asked, and while he had no malice in tone, that didn't stop the small glare on his face as he stared at the backside of A3A.
"I was the one that clear John's name during the Ajuris court and helped take down the Manhunter's on their assault on Oa." Ragna explained, standing up and walking over to Shyir with his hand out. "Ragna Redgrave, or on my planet I am known as the hero Sparda."
"Nice to meet ya, Ragna. I heard about the case with John, but I didn't get all the details since I've been out here for some time. That was pretty reckless of you to do that, but very brave." Shyir said.
"Yeah, very reckless." Ragna turned around to see John standing before him with his arms crossed, the frown still on his face.
"John you can't still be an-!"
"Ragna, you disobeyed a direct order, I specifically told you to stay on Oa or head home."
"And because I did you guys were saved from getting your butts cooked." Ragna argued.
"You gotta admit, John, we wouldn't be here without Ragna." Kyle interjected, only to be silent from one glare by John, who turned back to Ragna.
"Ragna, you have to think before you act. I saw how you reacted to those flames, I don't know what happened but you were one second from not being with us. You can't run in gunhoe and expect everything to work out in the end." John stated. Ragna frowned, lowering his head and looking at the dirt beneath him. The others were surprised by how John was acting, not to say he wasn't stern, but never this badly with the others. John features softened, taking a deep breath and laxed his shoulders, lifting a hand up and reaching for Ragna's shoulder.
"Kid, I'm just try-!"
"If I may interject." Everyone turned to A3A, her right hand displaying a large green light that scanned the ship. "I am detecting a strange device around the left ring of the ship."
"What?!" Everyone cried out in shock. Hal flew over and inspected the wing, until his eyes landed on the small grey disk with a red beeping light. He quickly punched the machine with his ring hand, floating back to the others with the disk. Ragna looked at the others, eyes widened and swallowing his spit.
"You don't thi-!"
KRA-KOOM
From the heavens splitting the clouds apart, a large silver cone like machine descended down until it landed perfectly on the mountain, three legs popped out and held the machine in place. Shyir wife ran out with their daughter, the lantern hugging his family for protection. The group watched in horror and shock as a mountain size hologram appeared in the form of the red lantern that attacked them, Razer.
"Civilians of this small colony, I am Razer, representative of the Red Lanterns. As of now you are harboring the Guardians lap dogs: the Green Lanterns, in the name of vengeance and justice we will destroy them. You have exactly one solar cycle to turn in these lackeys, or this planetoid will be vaporized. If you wish to leave the planet, we will not stop you, but if you harbor these blind fools you will be burned by our rage." With that, Razer hologram disappeared as the large machine came to life, roaring with power.
"Those little red-!"
"We have to turn ourselves over to them." Shyir stated, cutting off Kilowog.
"Shyir, no!"
"We don't have a choice." Shyir stated, cutting off his wife. Hal formed binoculars as he zoomed in on the machine.
"These guys are monsters, they are going to blow up the planet no matter what we do." Laira interjected.
"We can't just sit here and do nothing." John said, trying to formulate a plan.
"I'd say we go in there and fight, and kick theirs as….their butts." Kyle corrected, not trying to curse in front of the little girl.
"It's not going to be easy." Hal said, looking through his binoculars. "I see a few dozen soldiers on top of the machine, and who knows what they have inside."
"And if that red lantern is here, so are the others." Kilowog growled, rolling his shoulder, still feeling the bruise the horned red lantern gave him. "That thing is like a fortress, a frontal assault would be suicide."
"I suggest a stealthier approach." A3A suggested, stepping forward, she showed no signs of distress when the lanterns glared at her, when a hand was on her shoulder.
"What do you think, A3A?" Ragna asked, the machine turning to her, eyes widened for a second before returning to normal.
"The machine is on top of a volcanic mountain, I suggest you go under and assault the machine from the bottom and reach the control deck." A3A stated.
"I have a map of those lower areas, I studied those paths like the back of my hand." Beyana added, pulling out a holographic map.
"It's settled then, we head under and sneak through." John said.
"Even if we do, we'll have the entire red lantern group and their soldiers on us once they find out. We're gonna need to split them up somehow." Hal said, turning back to the others. Ragna looked between the group then back at the machine, if the group were unprepared for the red lanterns and a few soldiers then more will make it difficult. They needed something in their favor, or someone, an idea popped in his head.
"What we need is a distraction." Ragna said, making everyone turn to him. "But first, I need someone to make me something."
(A Devil's Justice)
"I still think we should give them another solar cycle." Razer muttered, looking down at the civilians below, watching them gather supplies or try to hide through the square opening to oversee the area. It was pathetic, understandable, but still pathetic.
"It wouldn't even matter, Razer, they have no ships to leave this rock." Bleez, who was sitting on the edge, hissed, staring at the world below her.
"I still think it is unwise to destroy this world, these people have done nothing wrong." Razer stated, looking over at his comrade of rage.
"While I do agree with you, Razer." Zox growled, floating over to the two. Zox did not like Razer one bit, but even he could respect the lantern for his great rage and prowess. "It is for the greater good of vengeance, for our sector, for our people."
"Guardians. Vengeance." Skallox growled, huddled in the corner away from the group.
"The master does not approve of such actions, but even he knows that such things must be taken for the greater vengeance." Bleez stated, glaring at the pitiful people beneath her. Her wings shuddered a bit, she could almost feel her feathers, but that was a long time ago. Razer sighed, but he agreed with them nonetheless. What they were doing was wrong, but actions must be taken to make those blue bastards pay for what they did to their sector.
"It will only be a matter of time before the lanterns reveal themselves, and be burned with our fiery rage." Zox chuckled, ignoring Bleez rolling her eyes.
"...For the greater vengeance." Razer muttered.
For Ilana.
"For Justice." Bleez growled.
For her wings.
"For the glory of our master." Zox growled.
For vengeance.
"For Rage." Skallox bellowed.
For Rage.
BOOM
"...What was that?" Bleez asked.
"DYNAMIC ENTRY!"
The four red lanterns fell on their faces or asses from the sudden crash, the force shaking the machine. Razer was the first to stand, hearing blaster bolts above and recognizing that voice.
"They have finally shown their hand."
(A Devil's Justice)
Moments before, Ragna had the best idea he had in a while. This was gonna be the coolest thing ever, he was so happy he made the idea, unfortunately the others did not share the same opinion.
"Ragna, this is crazy!" John stated.
"Relax, John. This is totally gonna work, I'll distract them and you guys sneak in below." Ragna said, winking at John as he kept walking back.
"I gotta admit, this is pretty weird." Hal muttered, Kyle nodding his head in agreement.
"I agree with your plan Ragna, I however do not understand why you need this. It is a bit….excessive." Laira said, an eyebrow cocked up as she has never seen something so….strange.
"Oh come on, I can't be the only one who thought of this. I need to get their attention, and what better way than sling shotting myself into them?" Ragna asked, holding onto the emerald rubber band construct. In his infinite wisdom, Ragna knew the best way to get their attention was to just shoot himself in, and a slingshot was the best choice. "I've always wanted to do this since I was a kid, the cartoons make it look like so much fun."
"While I do think this is very unorthodox, you are a very unorthodox creature, Ragna. So I hope you stay on course and be careful. I will remain here by the ship if all else fails." A3A stated.
"Aw, thanks A3A." Ragna cooed, smiling at the machine, his happiness was soaring at the aspect of being shot out of a slingshot, no one on planet earth could say they have done something like this.
"Man, this earthling just keeps surprising me." Kilowog said, curious on how this was gonna end, Shyir nodded his head in agreement.
"Come on guys, have some faith in me. After all, I got one thing you guys don't have that will get them by surprise." Ragna said, reaching as far as the construct could get him.
"And that is?" Kyle asked, raising an eyebrow in curiosity, Ragna looked at him with the biggest shit-eating grin.
"Style. LAUNCH!"
With that, Ragna lifted his feet and followed by a shockwave, was sent past the others and across the sky at supersonic speed, his hair pulled back and his mouth forced open from the speed. Closing his mouth, Ragna only had a few seconds before he touched down, that was also a few seconds to come up with a cool one liner. He tried to think of so many, but only one truly fit the bill. Flipping himself around, he held his right foot out and aimed it at an unsuspecting soldier.
"DYNAMIC ENTRY!"
(A Devil's Justice)
Two red soldiers stood on top of the machine, overseeing for any potential danger, the others flying or walking around them. They did not have rings like the four below, as they were ones that did not have great rage but chose to follow the red lanterns crusade.
"...Hey."
"...Yeah?"
"...You ever won-!"
BOOM
"DYNAMIC ENTRY!" A voice cried out, before one of the soldiers was sent flying into the wall, before a red blur reappeared spinned kicked the second soldier. The soldiers around them were stunned and shock by the sudden arrival of this fighter, Ragna hopped on both feet and gestured at himself, daring the soldiers to attack.
"Let's rock tin cans!" Below Ragna, the other lanterns got up as Razer turned to them.
"Bleez, Zox, deal with the creature. If he is here the lanterns will be close." Razer ordered. Bleez and Zox nodded, their bodies erupted in red flames and flew out the window, flying into the sky and onto the platform. When they arrived they were surprised to find Ragna bouncing among their soldiers, kicking them back and forth at razor speed. Bleez constructed razor claws once more and dashed towards Ragna. She slashed the air, from her claws were three red energy wind pressures that flew towards Ragna, cutting the air around it. Ragna turned at the last second and pulled out Jekyll. He fired several rounds at lightning speed, the bullets blast through the energy and towards Bleez, piercing her flesh.
"Nggh.." Bleez hissed, the bullets melting within her body. To Ragna's shock, blood leaked from the corner of her mouth, the red lantern licking it as she stared at Ragna, before Zox roared behind them.
"Tremble in fear, fool, for you shall face the wrath of zo-GRRK!" Zox was silenced as Ragna's boot was planted between his eyes, sending him flying into a pillar on the machine. Ragna leaned sideways to roll his ankle a bit, then title more to avoid the red waves from Bleez, twisting his body and somersaulting until he axe kicked a red lantern soldier, sending him flying into another one. Ragna turned around to come face to face with Bleez, locking his hands with hers, ignoring as she tore into his skin. His focus soon turned to her wings, noticing how they were skeletal and not a single ounce of feathers.
"What are you looking at? Vermin!" Bleez snarled, pulling away from Ragna and spewing out more of the plasmic blood. Ragna jumped out of the way at the last second, when he noticed a few drops on his boot. To his surprise, the blood didn't seem to affect his boot while on the metal ground beneath him melted in molten slag from the acidic red liquid.
"Interesting." Ragna thought, before he pulled out Jekyll and Hyde, releasing a hail of bullets. Bleez fired the red flames burning the bullets and reducing them to ashes, however, she was unprepared for the spin kick from Ragna. She crashed into a pillar bouncing off the metal and falling to her knees. Bleez dashed forward and flashed at Ragna with blinding speed, the two moved with afterimages behind them. Her claws sliced through metal, burning the steel, it burned the air around them. Ragna reached out and grabbed both her wrists, stopping them inches from his face. Ragna jumped into the air and kicked her face with both of his feet, letting her go at the last second and sending skating across the platform. Bleez used her wings, despite not having any feathers, to slow her stop, snarling at Ragna. She stopped, feeling something warm trickle down her, realizing it was her own blood. The red lantern's tongue slithered out of her mouth, licking her upper lips and cleaning the blood off it, pulling her tongue back in and tasting the hot iron blood, red eyes piercing Ragna's soul.
"Is that the best you got? Or do you have…..more?"
"...I'm terrified now." Ragna said, ducking under a surprised speed blitz from Bleez, jumping behind her and over a blast from Zox.
(A Devil's Justice)
"We should be right under it." Shyir said, holding the map for the caverns beneath the volcano. The group of GL's were being contained with a bubble courtesy of Kilowog.
"We better be, I'm getting crispy in this suit." Kilowog groaned, pulling at the armor around him as sweat beading down his forehead.
"Never hurts to get a nice tan, Kilowog." Kyle joked, as the bubble came to a stop and they floated up.
"Focus everyone." Laira interjected, constructing two katanas. Kilowog opened the bubble enough for John and Hal to fire a concentrated laser from their rings, melting through the metal until they made a whole big enough for all of them to fit in one at a time. The six lanterns slipped through and floated all the way to the top.
"It seems very empty, most of the guards must be up above fighting your earthling friend. He must be causing quite the trouble." Shyir mused, looking back at John and the other human lanterns.
"Let's not waste Ragna's distraction and take out the controls to this machine." Hal said, ending the conversation as they quietly flew upwards. Laira took point as they reached a set of doors, and with a flick of her wrists she sliced through the doors like butter, kicking the pieces and sending them flying. The six flew in with their rings scanning the room, but no sign of the red lanterns.
"They must be close by, no way would they leave this unguarded." John stated, before a roar echoed across the room. From above, Skallox bull rushed into Kyle and Hal, sending them flying into the wall. Several bolts fired from the sky, Laira cut through them while Kilowog formed a barrier between him, Shyir, and the red lanterns.
"That's right, Guardian dogs." Razer growled, lowering himself down and walking towards a central pillar within the room. "For vengeance and justice, for our rage, we will destroy you and your masters. For our dead!" Razer growled, slamming the large button on the pillar. The room started beeping, indicating the machine was active, echoing across the machine.
"No!" John roared, charging at Razer who pulled his fist back and clashed with the green lantern.
"Deactivate the machine, we will handle the red lanterns." Laira ordered, dashing forward to fight Razer along with John. Hal and Kyle flew forward to help, but Skallox roared and jumped in their way, swinging his arm like a club. The two avoided him and delivered haymakers that would bend tanks in half. Skallox merely roared before a hammer slammed into his cheek, Kilowog grunting with all his strength as he sent the horned red lantern flying. Skallox ripped the floor apart to slow himself down.
Skallox rammed right through the hammer construct, shattering it and headbutting Kilowog, knocking him near Shyir who was pulling apart wires and chips to try and deactivate the machine. Hal formed a large hand with brass knuckles on the end, delivering a devastating haymaker. Skallox saw stars for a moment, which was all Kyle needed to form a massive fry pan and slam it on top of Skallox's head. Unfortunately, all this did was make Skallox even more mad, rubbing his head, before standing at full height, towering over Kyle.
"...Now, now. I'm sure you are a very reasonable bull alien tho-!" Kyle's attempt to reason was squashed as Hal formed a construct hand and slingshot it around his waist, pulling Kyle back before his head could be crushed, Skallox hands missed crushing Kyle's skull by inches. Kyle constructed a boxing glove and sucker punched Skallox. Kilowog shook his head and reconstructed his hammer, charging at Skallox and swinging his hammer, slamming Skallox on the ground. Meanwhile, Shyir continued to try and destroy the controls, unaware of Razer charging at him.
A clash of sparks, Laira held back Razer's jagged sword with her own. The two danced and weaved their blades, but Razer's fiery blade burned right through the emerald blades. John cut in with his fist and sent a powerful left hook, knocking Razer back a bit. The red lantern roared releasing a wave of fiery rage, this time John and Laira flew above it and charged forward, only to be surprised as Razer formed a whip-like construct, swinging his right arm full force and striking the two, slicing through their armor and sending them flying. John and Laira flipped themselves back over and charged, John constructed a baton and struck Razer in the ribs. Laira dashed forward and swung her blades, but Razer reformed his sword and clashed with hers. Laira had to admit this red lantern was skilled, matching her speed and strength, however he was too wild and unpredictable, nothing in comparison to Ragna.
Skallox roared in anger and released a torrent of fire from his mouth, Hal and the others jumped at the last second, however Kyle was so lucky. He grunted in pain as the fire burned his arm, his anger building up, but he quickly tried to slap the fire away. He ignored the pain as he helped the others fight Skallox. Razer formed another jagged sword and swung it at laira and John, standing between the two and switching between fighting the two. He ducked under John's baton and swung at Laira, shattering her blades and spewed plasmic blood at her. Laira dashed aside and spinned kick Razer's chin, sending him across the room. Razer growled, he will not be defeated by a group of Guardian soldiers, his eyes burning red as the flames danced around his body. Razer roared and released a wave of rage, the force was too great for even Laira and John, sending them flying and near the others. Skallox remained unaffected as the flames seemed to only strengthen him, Razer stepped forward as the GL's stood between him and Shyir, trying to stand back up.
"I must admit, you Guardian lap dogs are very strong, but you are only delaying the inevitable, and that we wi-!" Razer stopped talking when his ring started beeping, he held his ring up and projected a hologram of the planetoid, noticing a small red dot heading towards them.
"Green Lantern's," A3A voice spoke up through their rings, the only source of communication for the group. "I must inform you of a large energy source entering the planetoids atmosphere, it is the same as the red lanterns, however this is ten times bigger."
"Master." Skallox growled.
"What?" John asked.
"...He is here." Razer whispered, looking up.
(A Devil's Justice)
Ragna ducked under Bleez's claws, flipping backwards and bouncing near the edge. He bounded forward as Bleez slashed at him, however to her shock she only hit the afterimage of him. She looked around trying to find the hero, only for someone to grab the top of her mask and pull it down, covering her eyes and mouth and tying the bottom as fast as they could. Bleez slashed at the air, trying to find her target, as well as pull her mask free. Ragna jumped forward and over Zox who tried to swing at him with a club, only to be kicked in the back of his head/body, sending him flying like a soccer ball. Bleez pulled her mask up at the last moment to find Zox inches from her face, slamming into her and sending them into the group of soldiers that tried to regroup to help their leaders. Like a bunch of bowling pins they were either squashed or sent flying from the two red lanterns.
"HA! Come on, that's all you got?" Ragna asked, grinning as he bounced between feet. "I can take you all on! I can take on the biggest guy you can muster!"
BOOM
(Play Demon Slayer: Akaza Theme | EPIC Version by Samuel Kim)
Ragna's eyes widened as something crashed behind him, the entire machine shook and shuddered from such pressure. Dust clouded the area and metal bent from the force, and Ragna felt an intense pressure behind him, how skin became hotter by the intense heat behind. Ragna felt something behind him, swallowing his spit, turned around and came face to face with the red lantern logo. His eyes traveled up and came eye to eye with this monstrosity, blue eyes met pure crimson. The creature was alien, but he was more akin to a devil if anything, his skin red as blood, his suit hugged his hulking figure. He was far taller than Ragna, several inches taller than Superman. Behind him, Ragna could hear the other red lanterns gasp and some of the soldiers shuddered in awe and fear.
"Master! Oh you grace us with your presence!" Zox bellowed, bowing his head to the large behemoth, Bleez and the other followed suit. The creature did not look at Zox and the others, his focus was on Ragna, his piercing gaze made Ragna shudder, he had seen pure rage on beings before, but for the first time in a long time did he feel afraid….not since that day. Hearing something hiss, Ragna looked down and his eyes widened at the sight of a creature by the monster's feet.
A cat.
A blue cat, decked in red and black armor like the rest, with the ring around it's tail. It moved around the monster's feet, staring at Ragna, who returned his focus on the beast before him.
"I….am….Atrocitus: Lord and Master of the Red Lanterns."
(Atrocitus: Rage Incarnate)
Before Ragna could react at such blinding speed, the wind was knocked out of him as Atrocitus' right fist slammed into Ragna's chest. The air pressure alone sent all the others flying, any human or non powered being would have exploded upon the impact. Ragna coughed out a bile of vomit, before Atrocitus sent him flying into a pillar. Ragna grunted as his back slammed into the pillar.
"I do not know who you are, or why you work with these Guardian slaves. But you will not stop me, I will destroy the Guardians and all that they stand for." Atrocitus growled. In a blink of an eye he reappeared before Ragna, slamming his fist into the hero's chest again, Ragna cried out in pain as his ribs broke, quickly trying to heal itself. Atrocitus pulled back and let Ragna slide down the pillar, lowering himself with the hero. Ragna stood back up, rubbing his chest before looking up to see Atrocitus pulling his fist back.
"I am Wrath!" Ragna twisted his head to the side, Atrocitus smashing through the metal where Ragna's head was last. Ragna stepped aside trying to gain some distance, but instead of pulling out, Atrocitus dragged his arm through the metal and grabbed Ragna with his forearm. Ragna grunted as he was pulled along until Atrocitus pulled his fist out and threw Ragna into the sky.
"I am HATE!" Atrocitus roared, opening his mouth and firing a torrent of flames, blasting Ragna in the back. The hero roared in pain, the flames were unbearable, and yet he felt his anger rise from such power. Atrocitus flew into the sky and pulled his hands together, flying past Ragna with his clamped hands held high.
"I am righteous VENGEANCE!" Atrocitus roared, slamming Ragna's chest and sending him flying back onto the machine, bouncing off the metal once before Atrocitus landed nearby. Atrocitus walked over to the downed hero, raising his fist up, only to stop as Ragna disappeared in a red blur. His head swung sideways as a foot was planted in his cheek, knocking Atrocitus back a bit.
"Big talk Chili Pepper, back it up!" Ragna growled, taking a fighter's stance. Atrocitus growled before charging forward, swinging his fist, but Ragna ducked under it and threw a sucker punch. To his surprise Atrocitus did not budge, but Ragna pulled his fist back and twisted his body with a spin kick, planting his boot in the side of Atrocitus face. Atrocitus roared before grabbing Ragna's leg and swinging him around like a ragdoll, slamming him on the metal. Ragna kicked Atrocitus' hand with his free foot, rolling away and pulled out Jekyll and Hyde, unleashing a hail of bullets. Atrocitus held his arm up to protect his face from the strange little metal objects piercing his skin, only to quickly reseal. He roared in rage and threw his right arm, releasing a wave of red energy that knocked Ragna into the air.
Ragna quickly rolled back on his feet and holstered his guns, launching himself towards Atrocitus and pulling his fist back. However, Atrocitus did as well and swung forward, slamming right into Ragna's face, unfortunately Ragna did have the arms length to reach Atrocitus' face. Atrocitus pushed forward and sent Ragna sliding across the platform. Ragna rolled to a stop, pulling himself up, blood trickling down his lips. Ragna wiped it away and prepared to duke it out with the leader, only to feel something rub against his cheek. He turned his attention to the blue cat rubbing itself against his cheek, purring as it did so. How did it even get there? The cat moved until it was floating above Ragna's head, it's front paws on his forehead.
"...Cute kitty." Ragna muttered, noticing something around it's neck. "What kind of alien cat species are you?"
"...Deeeexxx-Sttttaaaarrr."
(Dex-Starr: Nine Lives of Rage)
"...I'm sorry wh-!" The cat known as Dex-Starr spewed out plasmic blood, painting Ragna's face red and staining his white hair. The boiling hot plasma was unlike anything Ragna has felt the last two years as a hero, screaming in pain as he shook his head and tried to wipe the blood off his face.
"Let this be a reminder, a lesson to all those that face our wrath." Atrocitus growled, walking towards Ragna as Dex floated around Atrocitus and laid on his shoulder like a bed. "For those that wish to serve the Guardians, will be burned together with our hellish hate, that will be your FATE!" Atrocitus roared, unleashing a wave of fire that consumed Ragna, burning the metal beneath him. Once he was done, Atrocitus turned around, glaring at his subordinates, how it was so hard to kill the creature he will never understand.
"That…" Atrocitus turned around, watching as the flames dispersed, revealing Ragna unphased by the flames, some dancing off his body as he clutched the right side of his face. His blue eye glared at Atrocitus, his pierce gaze burned through the flames, pulling his hand down as his hair covered his eye.
Atrocitus could've sworn he saw red.
"That...the best you got?" Ragna growled, disappearing in a red blur and plating his fist into Atrocitus' cheek, sending Dex flying from the shockwave and Atrocitus across the sky. Atroctius stopped his movement, and flew back towards Ragna pulling his fist back. The half-devil hero let out a painful growl, clutching his right arm, but shook off the strange pain. Ragna dashed forward and pulled his fist back. Their fists collided, the air pressure shuddered the machine and parted the clouds above them. Atrocitus raised his left hand and swung down, Ragna blocked the blow but because he had no ground beneath him he fell towards the earth.
Pulling out Hyde he shot the air, the force sent him flying into the machine, instead of stopping Ragna kept falling. His boots slid against the metal, at such speeds that sparks flew, looking up to see Atrocitus flying towards him. The leader of the red lanterns aimed his ring and fired multiple fireballs at Ragna. The half-devil hero aimed Hyde up and fired another shot, the force bending his knees as he leaned back and let the fireballs pass him, his view was upside down now. Atrocitus caught up to Ragna, the half-devil fired Hyde, the impact sent Atrocitus flying as Ragna twisted his body around and pushed himself upwards to the top. Razer looked out the window to see Ragna send himself flying into the sky, followed by Atrocitus.
"Shyir, deactivate the machine." John stated, standing between Shyir, the pillar, and Skallox.
"I'm trying, nothing's working." Shyir grunted, as the machine sirens started getting faster. The room lit up, as energy started channeling in a needle above. Quickly thinking and seeing no other choice, Shyir constructed a barrier above the needle, as red energy was released in a condensed laser. Shyir grunted as he held the laser from hitting the trigger, keeping his arm up, this action gained Razer's attention.
"Shyir!" Hal stated, only to be knocked aside by Skallox who roared.
"Leave them." Razer ordered, making Skallox turn to him. "They have no chance of stopping it. As soon as that laser connects, this colony goes up in flames. Come." With that Razer flew out the window, Skallox followed right behind him.
"Come on!" Kyle grunted, forming a drill construct. "Let's take this machine out!"
"No time!" Shyir growled. "You heard him, as soon as I let go, we go. I can hold this thing for so long, get the civilians out of here."
"Shyir, we can't leave you!" John stated, floating up to his fellow lantern.
"It's alright, nggh, it has been an honour to serve with you, my friends. Tell my wife I love her, and tell my daughter her daddy will always be with her." Shyir said, the construct started breaking apart. They was no choice, his people must survive, maybe they should have taken them sooner. Oh well, choices had to be made, and consequences to be taken, but he'll be damned before he lets these reds take out his fellow lanterns.
"Shyir….." John muttered, sighing in defeat before bowing his head in respect and floating back to the group, the group bowed their heads to Shyir, taking their leave.
"Come on, Shyir is buying us time, let's get the colonists out of here!" John ordered, Hal and the others nodded their heads in agreement. Before she took flight, Laira heard thunderous booms above her, looking up she heard grunts and roars on top of the machine, her eyes widening as she realized what was going on.
"Ragna."
(A Devil's Justice)
Ragna grunted in pain, spitting out blood and glaring at Atrocitus. He dashed forward and ducked under a swing, leaping forward and kneeing Atrocitus in the gut. He flipped over the red lantern and kicked him in the back of the neck. However, the attack barely affected Atrocitus as he grabbed Ragna's foot and swung him into the ground, slamming him repeatedly on the metal. Ragna pulled his foot back and swept Atrocitus' legs off the ground with his left foot, tackling Atrocitus mid-air. The red lantern floated into the air as Ragna held him in a full nelson with his legs wrapped around the red lantern's neck and keeping his arms away. Atrocitus snarled in rage, before he flew backwards, slamming Ragna into a pillar and denting it with the earthlings body. Ragna felt something break and it wasn't just the metal, making him groan in pain, loosening his hold as Atrocitus pulled back.
The alien leader roared and released acidic blood from his mouth, painting Ragna's coat a darker shade and his face crimson. Ragna growled in pain, clutching his head as tiny little nails drilled into his skull, it was unbearable. He tried to take a step forward, but the pain was taking it's toll on him, falling to one knee. He clutched the right side of his face, taking sharp gasps of air and a low rumbling escaping his throat. Atrocitus stood waiting for an attack, but soon took notice of something. The blood that was on Ragna's face started to disappear. No. No that's not it they were…..being absorbed into his very being.
"Yes. Yes, grovel worm." Zox grunted, floating over to Ragna. "You thought you, a weak pathetic creature, could stand before the great and mighty Atro-GRRK!" Ragna hand gripped Zox's mouth, shutting it tight, before throwing Zox like a baseball. Atrocitus casually backhanded Zox, his attention was on all Ragna. He saw something, he saw something building within the hero, it wasn't normal in the sense of the word. It held no virtuous nature behind it, nothing like the green lanterns beneath him. His malice and hatred for this human slowly disappeared as he peered deep within this child, sensing something growing inside...or was it always there? Was it an old fire that has been dwindling for so long? No this was a spark, a spark that has long been contained.
A spark of rage.
"Don't….call me….weak." Ragna growled, lifting his head up to glare at Atrocitus. The red lantern leader saw it, the red orb glaring back at him, it matched his own: Rage. A large gnarly smile crept up Atrocitus' face, something the others have never seen before.
"You…..you are rage. You hold within you a great rage." Atrocitus growled, Ragna standing up to full height and entering a stance, it was the next words that stopped him from making any snarky comeback.
"You would make an excellent Red Lantern."
Ragna's eyes widened at those words, at the very idea of being one of these murderers. He wanted to vomit at the thought, taking a single step back and trying to think why this monster would say such a thing.
…..Yes…
Ragna's eyes widened, shaking his head and muttering a few words before turning back to Atrocitus.
"Lord Atrocitus!" Said leader and warriors turned to Razer and Skallox. "The machine is active, we must leave immediately." Atrocitus said nothing, turning to Ragna, his feet slowly leaving the ground.
"If you survive, let your rage guide you to me." With that Atrocitus and the red lanterns took off into the sky. Ragna could do nothing as he stared in shock, watching the reds leave this world to die.
…..Kill…..
"Ragna!" Ragna looked back to see Laira land nearby, running towards him. "We must hurry, John and the others are gathering the colonists, we must go." Ragna looked back up, watching the lanterns get farther and farther away. What is wrong with him? He can't let them get away with this!
"No. We must stop them, come on." Ragna said, pulling his mask out and clipping it on.
"Ragna…."
"The whole group is here, we take them out now or we won't get another chance!" Ragna argued, looking at Laira with pleading eyes. Laira never saw such a look in Ragna since meeting him, but she could understand what he meant. If they fail, the red's will get farther and farther and they will lose them in the galaxy. She whipped around Ragna and formed an extra layer around her hands, carrying Ragna and launching them into the sky. Beneath them, Shyir grunted as he held the contained laser, but the force of it was cracking his construct apart. He was also losing energy fast, another few seconds and it all ends. He lets out a tired sigh, feeling the cracks spread farther and farther apart.
"Good luck, my friends."
Above the atmosphere of the moon, Razer looked back, surprised that the lanterns still contained the blast, but it was only a matter of time. To his shock, a green dot got bigger and bigger, realizing it was the female lantern and Ragna.
"Lord Atrocitus, they are following us." Razer informed, stopping the leader. "They will escape the blast radius if they reach us."
"Then we will destroy them." Atrocitus growled, Dex-Starr hissing in agreement.
"Allow me to take care of them, as an apology for my earlier failures." Razer asked, Atrocitus turned back to Razer. His features softened before hardening again.
"May your rage guide you back to us." Atrocitus growled, turning around and flying after the others. Razer bowed his head, turning back to the two and constructing his blades.
"May my rage be my strength."
For Illana.
Razer sclera turned pitch black and his riris crimson red. Ragna and Laira saw Razer charge at them, but they did not falter in their speed, the red and green danced around them, getting closer and closer as Laira formed a construct blade for Ragna.
KA-BOOM
The three stopped inches from each other, Laira and Ragna turning around to see the planetoid. Suddenly, several cracks appeared across the world, red flames erupted beneath the earth.
"NO!" Ragna cried, but it was all in vain as the world broke apart, exploding in a ball of inferno. The crust broke apart into a million pieces, flying across space and towards the group. Laira forms a green barrier but all that did little to stop the fast moving rubble as it broke apart the construct and slammed into Ragna and Laira, breaking the two apart. The last thing Ragna saw was an asteroid hitting him, slamming him into another one.
(A Devil's Justice)
Ragna groaned, rubbing his head from the aching pain, thankfully his body fully healed. He still felt stiff and ached, his body floating aimlessly through space, and thanks to his mask he could breath. He tilted himself forward, floating upright as he overlooked the entire asteroid field around. His eyes widened realizing this is all that remains of Shyir's colony.
"No….No, no." Ragna muttered, clenching his fist at the realization that this world, no matter how small, was destroyed. He looked around to find any source of life, anything.
"John?! Hal?! Kyle?!" Ragna cried out, his head turning so fast it could pop off. He couldn't smell them, he couldn't hear them or sense them. His eyes widened, Laira! A3A!
"Laira?! Shyir?! Kilowog?! A3A?! ANYBODY?!" Ragna roared, tears floating off his eyes as he tried to move forward by waving his hands. He clenched his fists to his chin, a small sniffle escaping his face.
They were gone. He failed them.
….Weak…..
"No…..No…." Ragna moaned, resting his face in his hands, the tears floating off his cheeks. He couldn't believe it, he just couldn't. Suddenly, a beam of energy blasted him in the back, Ragna cried out in pain as he was sent crashing into an asteroid. Ragna grunted as he stood back up, looking over his shoulder to see Razer floating above him.
"They are dead. Because of you." Ragna's eyes widened, clenching his fist, blood trickling between his fingers. He did it, both of them did it. This Red Lantern caused the destruction, but Ragna was not fast enough to stop them. Razer saw from between Ragna's white locks, a red eye peered between them, a guttural growl escaping Ragna's throat.
…..We…..
"RRRAAAHHH!" Ragna roared, punching Razer with a force to shatter a city like Metropolis. Ragna pushed off the asteroid hurling himself towards the red lantern, delivering blow after blow, blood spraying all around them. Razer spat out blood, but all it did was make him angrier, so this was the strength of Ragna. His rage, however small, was growing bigger and bigger that not even Razer could stop. It reminded Razer of himself when he first got the ring, much like the others.
"You had this strength all along, all this rage, and yet you did nothing with it!" Razer roared, stopping Ragna's fist with his own, punching Ragna in the chest and blasting him into an asteroid. Razer roared in rage and fired a beam of fiery energy from his ring, obliterating the asteroid and sending Ragna through several. Razer followed after him, blood leaking out of his mouth before he vomited the crimson liquid onto Ragna and blasted him into a skyscraper size asteroid.
"All this rage and strength and you do nothing with it! ARE YOU AFRAID?! YOU ARE NOTHING BUT A WEAK CHILD!"
…...Kill….
"SHUT UP!" Ragna bellowed, his red eye flared with fire, the blood on him burst into flames coating him hellish fire.
"RRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!"
The primal scream created a shockwave that sent Razer flying, Ragna screaming to the heavens themselves. With a single leap, the asteroid was reduced to small pebbles, the half-devil launching himself into Razer and colliding the two into several asteroids, gripping Razer's face and using him as a ram. The two crashed into an asteroid, the dust settling to reveal Ragna kneeling over Razer, his eyes widened and feral. His right eye was pure rage, the once human iris morphed, resembling that of a lizard. He lifted Razer's head off the ground before slamming it back into the rubble, breaking the earth beneath him. He did it again, the noise echoing in his ear as all he saw was red in one eye.
BOOM
BOOM
BOOM
BOOM
BOOM
BOOM!
Ragna snarled, huffing and puffing as Razer laid beneath him, glaring right back at him with the same fury.
"You know what must be done, or are you truly weak?" Razer taunted.
Kill
Ragna growled, his teeth sharpened, strong enough to rip through metal.
Kill
He clenched his right fist, the fire around it flickered before it danced around his knuckles.
Kill
He drew back his fist, the flames around his body danced towards his fist, absorbed into the flame covered fist. His left eye, the one eye that remained a beautiful blue, slowly turned red, black mist filling the white slcera.
KILL
Ragna roared to the heavens as he swung his fist, space burning from the intense flames, Razer closing his eyes accepting the end.
"RAGNA!"
….Weak…..
An inch. An inch away from ending Razer's life, Ragna stopped, the flames flickered away into nothingness, the asteroid broke around them from the air pressure Ragna released. Ragna huffed, chest heaving up and down hearing her voice. Looking over his shoulder, his eyes returned to normal to come face to face with Laira. Her face was stoic, but her eyes told a different story. His cheeks flushed red in shame, the half-devil lowering his head as Laira pulled him away. Razer growled, he knew it, he knew Ragna did not have it.
"Coward, are you afraid to finish what you st-!" Razer was silenced by the sudden sucker punch from Ragna, the last thing he saw was the woman Laira standing over him. Ragna floated past Ragna hugging himself, shoulders shaking quite a bit. Laira kneeled down to Razer and attempted to remove his ring, however upon nearly doing so her ring alerted her of something major. Quickly letting go, the ring reattached itself to Razer's finger, shocking Laira.
"His heart rate nearly went flat, but how? Is….is his ring somehow his life force? Is this for all of the red lanterns?" Laira thought.
"Are…..are they gone?" Ragna asked, Laira turning to the half-devil hero. She saw clear liquid float off his face and realized he was crying. She knew of such pain.
Ke'Haan.
But she did not cry, for it was a sign of weakness for her, but she understood why Ragna did. She stood up, using her ring to suspend Razer in several cuffs, she walked up to Ragna and held his shoulder. Ragna didn't need an answer, he knew what she meant by this, he had failed them.
"Ragna…." He didn't dare look up, but he heard the sudden sound of murmurs and saw a light above him. Looking up, Ragna's eyes widened in shock as John, Hal, Kyle, and Kilowog floated above him. Above them, secured in a green construct square, were all the colonists.
"Took us some time to get them, but we were able to secure all the colonists in the nick of time." John explained, looking down at Ragna and Laira, before noticing Razer behind them. "What the hell is h-OOF!" John felt the wind knocked out of him as something tackled him, sending him flying past the others, luckily Hal and Kyle still held the construct up. Looking down, John saw Ragna, tears smearing his green and black suit, wrapping his arms around the lantern as he cried.
"Y-Your H-HOOkkaaayy!" Ragna cried, hugging John as hard as he could, unfortuantely John was not having it.
"K-Kid get off me! Stop crying damn it! You're ruining the suit!" John grunted, but it fell on deaf ears as Ragna cried and buried his face in John's chest. Hal and Kyle couldn't stop chuckling, and Kilowog was bellowing, slapping his knee, while Laira looked impassive at the situation. A roar of an engine caught Ragna by surprise as the Interceptor flew above them.
"A3A! You're okay!" Ragna cried, letting go of John.
"I thought it would be wise to fly overhead in case all of you would need to pick up, unfortunately I did not calculate the countdown the red lantern machine had." A3A stated over the comms, firing a green beam of energy at the square and holding it in place, allowing the others to let go.
"I'm so happy you guys are okay!" Ragna exclaimed, wiping the tears from his eyes. "I...I…...where's Shyir?" Ragna asked, noticing they were missing one lantern. He noticed the GL's around looked down, frowning and shaking their head. To further confirm this, a green light caught their attention, Ragna looked up in horror seeing a green lantern ring fly past them and towards the stars. Shyir was gone, and Ragna could do nothing.
(A Devil's Justice)
The Interceptor landed on a small moon a system away, allowing the colonists to finally walk about. Beyana and her daughter stood by the GL's, turning to John and Hal.
"I'm sorry we couldn't save your home…..I'm sorry we couldn't save Shyir." Hal apologized, looking down in shame.
"No. Thank you Green Lantern's, because of you we have survived." Beyana said, holding her daughter close.
"I hope everyone knows the sacrifice Shyir made." John said, looking out towards the colonists.
"They do. The elders are gonna name our new planet after him. Once I hated the idea of Shyir being a Lantern, but I also knew he died fighting for us, and that we will always be with each other." Beyana said, a tear sliding down her face. Hal nodded, leaning down to the small girl who looked up at him.
"Your daddy was a great hero, Amala." Hal said.
"Is…..is it okay if I still miss him?" The little girl whispered.
"We all will." Hal said, standing back up and letting Beyana and her daughter leave.
"It will take some time before these guys are able to live in peace." Kilowog muttered. The group of Lantern's huddled up, ignoring A3A off to the side. "Now what do we do?"
"Simple, we hunt these Red Lantern's down, and bring them to Justice." John stated. There was no arguing about it, he was going to make these Lantern's pay, he already had the guilt of Ajuris lifted off him, but now he had a whole new one, and a life to pay for it. "Are you guys with me?"
"You know it." Hal said, holding his hand out, John clapped his hand with Hal's.
"As if you need to ask." Kyle said, holding his ring up.
"I wanna repay that Skallox back." Kilowog growled, popping his neck.
"These Red Lantern's are a threat, we must hunt this little group before they get far." Laira said, turning around and looking towards a single individual, his back turned to them as he looked out towards the rising sun. "Is he coming with us?"
"I didn't want him to come with us originally." John stated, crossing his arms. "However, we have no time to waste, no warp to travel to Oa, and the longer we waste the longer these Red Lanterns are at large. Besides, I know he out of all of us wants payback." As he said this, A3A walked past the group, heading towards Ragna and standing beside him. The half-devil had his mask removed as his face remained emotionless that it matched hers.
"I know it would be strange to ask, but if you like I can fix the warp drive as fast as possible so you can go home." A3A stated. Ragna said nothing, his eyes looked at her for a second before looking back at the rising star. The two stood side by side, staring at the red sun slowly rise over the horizon.
"Now what?" A3A asked, looking up at Ragna. The half-devil slowly raised his hand, staring at his right palm, before clenching it tight.
"Now…..now we find the Red Lanterns, and make them pay."
A red dawn has risen over Ragna, when this is all over, how will it set?
RIP Shyir Rev. You died as you lived, in a single chapter. That's really fucked up but it's not untrue thinking about it. You'll probably wondering 'You could've saved him' but I ask, why? He serves no purpose for character. Anywho, let's keep moving so the BIG BADs arrive, the Red Lanterns. The main baddies for the Red Dawn arc, now you see why I named it that (That last sentence is very poetic for multiple reasons. Anyways I love the Red Lanterns, Atrocitus mainly. Out of all the GL characters that have ever appeared, Atrocitus is number two as favorite character, number three in DC villains, and...I don't fucking know in just overall character but it's probably in the twenties. He is just my favorite because I guess I could relate to him in some way, when I was younger I had a lot of pent up aggression that wanted to be let out from constant bullying, but when I did try to defend myself, because I was one of the bigger kids I was blamed by the other kids. Luckily my school principal really liked me, actually throughout the years I was liked as a student, despite always wanting to be alone I can work very well with others if needed. Anyways Atrocitus is my favorite, and as you can see I gave him quite an entrance, I hope I did he some justice for those other GL fans. We're just getting started on, it's gonna be fun! Yes before anyone asked let's get into some power scaling.
The GL group against the RL group would have ended with the RL winning because the GL's never faced a RL, give them a fight or two and they'll figure it out. However, John and all of them are stronger then Bleez and Zox, but since RL's have that rage hax it can be difficult since that requires certain other things to heal it. It's why I most made it out where if they can put out the fire such as small flames it won't hurt them as much, but if they took the full force...well read the comics. Seriously go online and find a comic sight and just read comics, if you don't then I'll explain it throughout the story as much as I can. The strongest RL from the four numbered group is Razer. Now Ragna was the second strongest person in this chapter, yes if Ragna really wanted it he could win all these fights, but the flames hinder him because it's an actually lore I made for the story plus it does happy for characters in the comics but Ragna...well he is half demon. Anyways yes the only person that can match Ragna is Razer with the fire, Laira, Jon, Hal, and Kyle can face him but in the end they would lose. BTW this Ragna shafted right now because while Ragna is good at cqc, he is the MASTER in swordsmanship. However, the strongest person in this chapter is my BOI Atrocitus! Yes, even enraged Ragna could only match Atrocitus...but wait for that fight. Atrocitus is so far gonna be Ragna's greatest fight, he isn't the strongest character the volume, but he is definitely gonna make an impact. I hope the fights are fun, I wish I made them longer, and I promise they will, but with so much to write I had to write as much as I could. Dex-Starr is in his own class, he is the Apex, no one can touch him. JK.
I was originally gonna have the chapter end with Diana sitting down with Ragna's friends and end it with a cliffhanger, but I decided against it since it is already so fucking long. So when they do meet it will be via flashback in the next chapter as chapter ten takes a day after this one. BTW I should have added, the first chapter of this story starts around a week after the first week of Janurary, I can't remember when this takes place but basically now it is the second week in Jan (Friday to be exact). Monday is when chapter three starts. Tuesday is chapter four. The final week in Janurary is chapter five. Chapter Six is literally the next day. Chapter Seven is a week but it is on the Fourth of Feburary. Chapter Eight is the next day since Chapter Seven was an all day thing. So we would be on the sixth day because chapter eight and nine are in the same day and night. Good now? Less confusing? I hope so.
Harem hasn't changed, still have to earn it tho! I will spoil one thing: You know that tall girl holding little girl meme. Imagine that with Ragna being the small girl, and the tall girl being a girl from DC. Here's a Hint: It's not Diana. Good luck finding that out.
Also who can guess Ragna's birthday? Here's a couple things to know: The current year in the story is 2018, I already wrote what his age is, he is a Leo and it was the Year of the Snake when he was born. Kind of ironic when you think about it.
I hope you guys can figure out why there is only gonna be seven chapters for this arc. I write them as long as I want them to be. I never think about how long they are gonna be, I just make sure I get what I need and make sure it passes over eight to nine thousand words. I succeed a lot apparently. I'm sorry for not updating sooner, I had to take some breaks, rewrite some moments, it was a lot of work. By the time you guys are reading this I will be sleeping like a brick because I stayed up until three to finish it.
The one thing I want to talk about John and Ragna's chemistry, is not that they are both wrong, but really they are right. And if it seems that John is an asshole, it's not that I want him to bashed, it's just that I try to make him more right since he's not wrong. I think that might be my crutch for this arc, but overall this is just the beginning for their relationship, out of all of the League members, John is the second character Ragna is gonna have a bumpy ride with. Flash and Hawkgirl are actually gonna be the easiest that get a long with Ragna.
Now no one take this the long way but thank FUCK no one else is writing this story. It's not that no one can write better, I would hope so, it's just with this story I feel like people are judging way to quickly but I understand. With the review talking about how Ragna isn't like Dante or other DMC characters and how someone on another story that was once like mine said Bladewolf story was better because mine was cringe. Which ya know is fine, it's kinda the point, this story is all about fun writing and a cringy teenager which I'm sure looking back at it some of us cringed at the things we did. Me included. I'm not trying to sound rude, I'm sure you guys could write amazing ADJ stories or hell stories in general when you put your mind to it, but I feel like I don't know I feel like looking at what the reviewer said about Ragna not being the same as the others made me think: Man, that's just no fun. Where's the flare? The change? The Butter? It just sounds like you insert a character via BFR portal (Which those can be fun to read, don't get mad) and he is just there. I want my character to change the world around him, give the villains a perspective and surprise with my character, to redeem them or at least reach atonement or something. I'm sorry to the reviewer if you feel attack, no one insult him/her, he just gave his thoughts and he has every right to say them. The only person I trust with ever writing this story, and don't take this personal anyone, is SaiytonianSage. I feel like his writing would be fun to read since his characters are always so fucking EDGY it'd be fun. But I also don't trust him to ever update, lol. This was even before the review so that just helped me think about. Okay getting a little a head of myself let's get into the last thing before my tangent and next chapter summary.
Ladies and Gentlemen. Welcome to the newest fanfic game show: GUESS THAT MOMENT! Title is a work in progress but here is what is all about. I have over six hundred followers and favs. I always love the feedback I get, but I feel like you guys with how many I have should review more since there six hundred of you guys and one of me. I wrote 22 thousand words for a single chapter, surely a few hundred or just a hundred wouldn't hurt. I can't really force you but I hope you guys review more and more since it gives me more feedback of what you guys think, tell me what you liked or didn't like or want to know. Back to fanfic game show the rules are simple: At the end of your reviews, you can leave as many as you want but I would limit it to two if you like, you will guess a moment in the story. Not just the arc, just in the entire first volume in general. It can't be as simple as 'Ragna beats so and so' or 'Ragna sleeps with her' I want you to really think about. It can be as simple as what you think the next chapter and what happen. You can guess how Ragna gets to know the girls and how they grow their bond, or the next villain he will face and what that will entail. You're probably 'what do I get in return?' Well here is the reward: If you correctly guess something or even close to it or if I really like the guess, it can be anything. I will PM, or reveal in the next chapter if you are a guest a spoiler for the future of this first volume. The only exception is the finale. That will be unspoiled for certain reasons...but I can spoil how we get there. Here is a hint about something: There is a reason I never realized until recently I picked the name Jekyll and Hyde.
Okay, now let's get into my tangent, this is gonna be a thing for my story now. Let's go.
Cruella is a terrible movie, I don't care if it is rewritten it is about a woman who originally wanted fucking Puppy fur. Luca is a kids movie about two THIRTEEN year old boys before romance. Nothing wrong with them being gay later, but fucking come on man?
I saw the Invinicble animated show, before it ever came out it took me two weeks to finish the entire comic series. I like the animated series, I hate Amber, I hate politics but it was okay for this story. So with that.
I got more crossover for this story: INVINCIBLE! DOOM! Exceptions: No Doomguy because obivous reasons. No Mark, or Omni-Man for obivous reasons. No major story arcs from Invincible for reasons. Anyways.
I have been playing the shit out of Hades on the Switch, Literally in the past two weeks finally cleared Hades with all the weapons once...that's how many times I cleared in general...that shit going in this story...somewhat.
What is the point of the Xbox Series X if the Xbox One is basically the same but without higher def...or is it res? I have no idea or care. Until it gets better space then we'll talk. I can't even get the PS5. I might not even...maybe someday.
I was tricked into watching F9 with my best friend, I have never seen the Fast & Furious movie, not one. What the actually fucking hell was that. I watched the Demon Slayer movie with my best friend before that, we fucking loved it. He's never seen the anime before it. It's really ironic now that I think about it.
Haven't seen Loki, might wait until the first season is done before I go see it. Not really a big fan of some of the MCU now, it kind of lost it's fire. Plus everything is probably gonna get super...SUPER woke. I might be proved wrong, so who knows.
I've never seen He-Man, I watched a lot of different stuff when I was little. I never trust Netflix but that made the Tales of Arcadia series so it might be really good...it's not selling me tho.
I love Black Clover, but it's literally Naruto but fantasy magic. I'm not kidding, you can say anything about anything else of a series I like that won't take away that I am right. Wanna know why I'm right?
Wizard King/Hokage
Naruto/Asta LOUD
Orphans!
FUCKING LIEBE/KURAMA! The only difference is that one is in a stomach. HOW HUGE IS THAT?!
That being said, I love the series more then Naruto. So ha.
Izuku new design is fucking FIRE, I dont agree with knowing the other quirks so fast and being at forty five percent, but I fucking love it so far.
Okay, with that out of the way, the summary.
Chapter Ten Summary: As Diana recalls the events with Ragna's friends, halfway across the universe things are not looking good. The interrogation with Razer goes south before they are attacked by a spectral creature. The group is saved by the arrival of a new lantern group: The Star Sapphires. Ragna's pain is eased by the sudden appearance of the princess of the Star Sapphires (And Main Waifu N.3) herself: Ghia'ta. The group is offered sanctuary and possibly a new ally in the fight to take down Atrocitus and the Red Lanterns. As Ragna and Ghia'ta bond, dark forces move in the shadows as the red sun rises in the morning. Can Ragna figure out what is going on, can love calm what is uncontrollable?
