Chapter Twenty-Seven, Final Battle
The final battle was hard pressed for the light side, even with Jasper's training and being aided by the Cullen's and their cousins the Denali's. They were still outnumbered, but somehow, they did it. Whether it was luck, or something else they were unsure. But what was sure that Alice's visions had enabled them to figure out what Dumbledore had been hiding from them. The year before Remus and Jasper had taken Raiden to Gringotts to get rid of the Horcrux in his scar, while Sirius had gone with Alice, Carmen and Kate to collect the remainder of the Horcruxes and destroy them. When the final battle rolled around all that had been left was Nagini and Voldemort himself.
During the battle Jasper and Major were impressed with their little mate and how he handled himself. He was an excellent fighter and a natural born leader, but that was not what he wanted. He loved magical creatures and would be more than happy to be searching for elusive ones with Luna. But they had a war to win first. His friends and the students all rallied to him, only a small portion of Slytherin House joined Voldemort, the rest supported Raiden and helped create a diversion to separate Nagini and Voldemort once the protective enchantments fell. With the Basilisk venom and vampire venom coated blades: Raiden, Blaise, Draco, Neville, Luna, Fred and George split off to try and kill the snake. Jasper was getting worried for his mate, he hadn't seen him in awhile, as he tore arms off Death Eaters in his way as he fought to get to Remus and Sirius.
Just as he thought he wouldn't get there on time despite the blond rage Major was in (Major was in control) Kate appeared behind Remus and Sirius attackers and electrocuted them sending them to the floor to be dealt with by her sisters leaving Remus and Sirius with less to fight with, and they easily gained the upper hand.
"Have you seen Rai?" Major asked, as Emmett tore past saving Fred and George from a falling wall, while a on a floor below Rosalie saved Nymphadora Tonks, Sirius's cousin, who was dating Kingsley. That was another thing that happened in the last two years; Remus and Sirius got married and Sirius adopted his Godson and Nymphadora married Kingsley.
"No!" Emmett and Rosalie shouted in reply, becoming worried for their brother/ son as Rosalie loved him more like a mother.
"Outside! Look outside!" Alice shouted, as she appeared with Edward.
"We're finally winning. Some disappeared as soon as they saw the tide turning and the battle outside!" Edward confirmed Major's thoughts before he could even voice them. At that all of the Light side rushed to a window of a hole in the wall large enough to see outside once the remaining Death Eaters had been rendered powerless, (either dead, their wand taken and snapped, and them knocked out and tied up). As dawn approached more rapidly causing the once midnight blue sky to turn a reddish pink; Major looked out the window, standing in between Luna and Draco as they watched what was going on and it took his unneeded breath away. Down in the courtyard Raiden was fighting against Voldemort on his own, red and green lights clashing as they each tried to get the upper hand.
"Let me go Emmett!" Major growled, feeling himself in a strong hold before he could jump down there to aid his mate.
"I can't do that Major." Emmett said unapologetic. "I do that, you distract Raiden and he dies for good. The snake is gone Neville killed it as it was about to attack Draco and Blaise." Major slumped in Emmett's hold. He gets his previous mate killed? No not possible! He can't have that! He can't lose his mate!
During Major's inner monologue the Killing Curse rebounder upon Voldemort just like it had sixteen years ago. His wand hand turned black spreading rapidly up his arm while the Elder Wand flew from his hand and into Raiden's.
He watched with a grim fascination as Voldemort started to flake away. Each piece coming from his body floated into the air before turning to ash. He had defiled his body and soul with so much Dark Magic that he was left not human and in death there was nothing of him, like there would be if someone had a soul. As the rebounded Curse spread Voldemort's face contorted into an expression of pure and utter agony as he was condemned to the darkest pits of Hell as the last of him turned to ash.
It was over! Voldemort was finally dead for good and with it the Wizarding War was finally over! All was silent for a matter of seconds before a loud raucous cheer rented the sky as everyone descended upon the courtyard; praising Raiden's defeat of Voldemort. But all that Raiden had eyes for was his family and his friends, and his mate. He didn't have to look far as they pushed their way to the front of the crown and enveloped Raiden in a large group hug, all of them assuring each other that they had all made it out of the war alive. Of course there had been casualties that not even Alice had foreseen, namely Percy in the Weasley family, but their family (including all of Raiden's friends) were alive.
Once they pulled apart Major pulled Raiden into a a deep and passionate kiss. His instincts were raging at him and a group hug would simply not do. As the couple wrapped their arms around each other something glinted in the morning sunrise, something shinny on Raiden's left ring finger. It could only be seen for a moment before he tangled his hands into Jasper's curly blonde locks, it seemed like the pair were trying to meld themselves together with how close they were to each other, especially when Raiden jumped into Jasper's arms. But no one seemed to care right now as everyone was euphoric. The war was over and they could finally move on and live their lives.
