We'll Be a Family
C20: They Say It's Your Birthday

A/N: Well, it's finally here, the chapter most of you have been waiting for, the birth of the two little bundles of joy for our ladies. I hope you enjoy and I'll see you for the next one.
Rosalie's POV
By the time Bella was actually ready to give birth, five hours had passed but thanks to the epidural she had been given a couple of hours ago, she'd been fairly out of it and thankfully not in a lot of pain. "You're doing great love, it's only a little while longer."
She smiled dreamily at me. "Have I ever told you how much you look like an angel Rosie?"
I smiled at her and pressed a kiss to her sweaty forehead. "You have several times in the last few hours love, but you know I never mind you stroking my ego."
She giggled a little at that as Dr. Bors walked in. "I know I said that you two would be holding your daughters in your arms four hours ago, but I might have jinxed it, but I am quite certain this will be it, so to speak."
"It's okay Doctor, thanks to the epidural I'm not in as much pain." Bella said with a soft smile.
Dr. Bors smiled at her. "Not yet at least sweetie. I think in a few minutes you will be, because I think you're ready." She said as I saw her press a button on a device hanging from her coat pocket.
"Is there anything I can do Doctor?" I asked with a kind smile.
"Not really Rosalie, but I advice you to stay above the sheet. It can be a bit much to see it all happening, and I think your girlfriend will need someone to hold her hand if the pain gets too much." Dr. Bors said with a smile as she started draping a few sheets above Bella's lower half.
I smiled and retook my seat next to my mate, pressing a soft kiss to her cheek. "It won't be long now love, they'll be here soon. Are we settled on names?"
She nodded and kissed me. "Yes we are. Our firstborn will be named Julia Vera Hale and our second born will be named Olivia Esme Hale. One in honor of your best friend, and the other in honor of our mother."
I smiled at her. "I'm glad the drugs haven't affected your memory love." I said softly as I glanced sideways to Esme, who still had the brightest smile I had ever seen on her on her face.
We were so engrossed in each other that we barely heard Dr. Bors calling Bella's name. "Sorry we were a bit engrossed in each other. It happens at times."
"That's totally understandable, and I think that in a few minutes you'll be even more engrossed with someone else. Try to relax as much as possible and try to push when you feel pressure down there. It's all completely normal Bella." Dr. Bors said with a smile.
She nodded as smiled at the doctor as she clasped her hand in mine. "I'm sorry in advance if I crush your hand baby." Bella said with a wink.
I smiled at her. "You'll be forgiven, love. Just don't hurt yourself." I said with a wink.
Bella smiled and kissed me softly before groaning loudly. "That's it Bella, push." Dr. Bors said from beneath the sheet.
Bella gritted her teeth and pushed as she squeezed my hand tightly, and after a few more attempts an earsplitting cry sounded through the room. "Rosalie, would you do the honors of cutting the cord?" Dr. Bors asked as she came back up from under the sheet
"Of course, will you be okay baby?" I asked softly.
Bella nodded and smiled at me before I made my way over to the doctor who had already put two clamps on the umbilical cord. "Just cut between the clamps and then we'll get her weighed and cleaned up." Dr. Bors said with her usual kind smile.
I smiled at her as I looked over our little girl. She was absolutely gorgeous and I had some problems looking away from her as I cut the umbilical cord. "I know it's hard to look away, but I promise once we have cleaned her up and have run some tests you can hold her as long as you want."
I nodded and smiled at her before making my way back to Bella, who was smiling at me as I retook my seat. "She's so gorgeous baby. I can't wait for you to meet her."
Bella smiled and kissed me softly. "I can't wait for that either. Where is she?"
"They're going to run some tests and clean her up. She'll be here shortly." I said with a loving smile.
Bella only smiled and groaned again as she was once again told to push and a minute later another earsplitting cry sounded through the room, and while I cut the umbilical cord again, Bella seemed to have pushed out the afterbirth, and I think I was fortunate that I hadn't seen that, because the smell alone was enough to make me push back the gag it brought up in me.
While the nurses cleaned Bella up, Dr. Bors came back with our daughters, both of them bundled up in pink blankets, sleeping soundly. I then helped Bella sit up a little so she could hold one of our daughters and as she took Olivia in her arms I couldn't help but mirror the smile that lit up our faces.
"Mom, come and meet your granddaughters." She said softly to the two smiling vampires who were having clear difficulty containing their excitement.
Esme and Sulpicia both smiled as she walked up to us. "Congratulations my sweets. They're absolutely gorgeous." Esme said as she sat down next to Bella and ran a finger over Olivia's cheek, the little girl whimpering ever so softly.
Sulpicia was standing next to me with a soft smile on her face. "She's gorgeous Rosalie. A true princess if ever I saw one." The blonde said softly.
I smiled at her. "That she is, but please don't call her that too much in her early years. When we get around to explaining everything we'll be sure that they know how special they are."
"It's still a very cute nickname in any event. Don't you think so Princess?" She asked Julia softly as she too gently ran a finger over the girl's cheek.
Julia whimpered softly and moved a bit in my arms, opening her eyes for the first time, and they were the most beautiful blue I had ever seen. "She's got my eyes. I had that exactly that eye color when I was human." I said in a whisper, knowing only Sulpicia and Esme could hear me.
The two smiled at me as we were enthralled by the two little bundles of joy now in our arms, and I couldn't help but smile at Bella as our eyes locked again.
Bella's POV
I was so enraptured by our daughters that I barely noticed Dr. Bors coming back into the room. "How are the new mothers and grandmothers doing here?" She asked with a soft smile.
"Tired, but so very happy. They're absolutely gorgeous." I said with a bright smile.
She smiled at me. "I figured as much. Labor is a very tiring process, especially so when giving birth to twins, but having said that, yours has been one of the easiest births I have been a part of in my twenty years. I also have the test results back and I am glad to inform you that your daughters are in perfect health. I was a week off in my calculations of your due date, which given the circumstances was to be expected. I also know there is quite a sizable party outside wanting to come and meet the newest addition to the family. I must advice them coming in two at a time, otherwise it might be a little bit overwhelming for both you and your daughters."
I nodded at that. "We'll try, but I think the rest of the family is just as excited as we are."
Dr. Bors smiled at me before taking her leave. "Do you want us to get a few people sweetie?" Esme asked with a soft smile.
"Could you get Alice, Jane, Heidi and Vicki. I think the godmothers should have the first opportunity to see them." I said with a soft smile.
Esme smiled and nodded before she walked out of the room, and of course Rosalie was immediately by my side with Julia. "You've done amazing love. I'm so happy that our family is now complete. Our daughters are gorgeous."
"That they are. I wonder if they are going to be identical twins?" I asked softly.
"I don't think they will, but we'll think of ways to tell them apart if they are." Rosalie said softly.
I smiled as our sisters and Esme walked into the room, and even though I could practically see the squeal building up in Alice, she kept herself under control. "Don't be shy, come and meet your goddaughters." I said with a soft smile.
Alice and Jane walked up and smiled brightly when they saw Olivia sleeping in my arms. "She's so precious Bella. Can I hold her?" Alice asked softly.
I nodded and carefully handed over Olivia to Alice, and to my surprise I could see Jane stiffen next to her. "What's wrong Jane?" I asked softly.
The blonde turned to me, a bit of a glazed look in her eyes. "I don't know how to say this Bella, but I think I just found my mate in your daughter." She said softly.
I smiled at her. "It's okay Jane. I know you can't choose who your mate is, and at least now you know she will grow up in the best environment possible."
She smiled at me. "I know, and I probably won't feel the full pull for at least a decade, and I will definitely need to have to talk to mother about this, as far as I know this is a rarity in our world."
I just smiled at her. "At least I know my daughter will be loved her entire life. I think you and Olivia will be a very cute couple when she wakes up, but you might want to talk to Rose first, because she hasn't let the girls get out of her sight."
Jane nodded and smiled as she pressed a kiss to the top of my head before walking to Rosalie and Alice came up with Olivia. "Even with all my powers of foresight I never saw this coming. Congratulations Bella. She's gorgeous."
"Thank you Ali. I'm sure you'll be an amazing auntie for her." I said with a soft smile.
She smiled and gave me a one armed hug before handing back Olivia to me. "I promise to be as good a Pixie godmother as I can possibly be."
"I know you will Ali, but please go easy on the shopping for a while. They'll grow so fast in the first couple of months that it might be a bit of a waste." I said softly.
She nodded at me and crossed her heart. "I promise Bella. I won't do any excessive shopping with your and Rosalie's permission."
I nodded and smiled as Rosalie and Heidi came up. "I think Heidi also has something to tell you baby."
I smiled at her. "Let me guess, you found your mate in Julia?" I asked softly.
She nodded and looked a bit contrite. "Yes, I'm sorry Bella."
"Like I said to Jane, you don't have to be sorry for something that you can't control. At least Rose and I know that our daughters will be loved forever and that they will always have someone to protect them in their early years." I said with a soft smile.
Heidi smiled at me. "Thank you Bella. I know Rosalie said that you would be okay with it, but I was afraid of the opposite none the less."
"Heidi, you're my sister, and I've shared so many things with you that I can't be mad at you for finding your forever. You'll be an amazing aunt in her early years and an amazing mate when she's old enough to know." I said with a soft smile.
The brunette smiled and gave me a careful hug, being mindful of Olivia in my arms. "One thing is for sure, they're both gorgeous."
I smiled at that. "That they are, and honestly I'm glad they mostly have my features and that their eyes are a different color, although Julia still has to open her eyes for me."
Heidi smiled as the twins started to whimper before they started to cry. "I think that's our cue to leave ladies, a first feeding is a special moment for parent's eyes only. We'll be back in about half an hour sweetie." Esme said softly.
I nodded and smiled at them as they walked out of the room, after which I dropped the top half of my scrubs and brought Olivia close to my chest, our little girl finding the nipple almost immediately as she started suckling, and I had to admit it felt a bit weird and so different when Rosalie would suck on them, although she never tried to get milk from my breasts before.
Rosalie's POV
By the time everyone had come to visit, it was early evening, and now that our daughters slept peacefully, we finally had some time to talk about some things. "You still awake love?" I asked softly.
She smiled at me. "Barely, but I'm okay to talk for a bit."
I smiled and kissed her cheek softly. "I'll let you sleep in a few minutes, love. I was just wondering how you're feeling?"
"Exhausted, strangely empty, but oh so happy that they're finally here and that they're healthy." She said with a soft smile.
"All of those are understandable, and they have clearly made an impact on the family already, even if we don't account for them already having their true love." I said with a soft smile.
She smiled at me. "Everyone was quite taken with them already, weren't they? I honestly had not expected any differently. It was also cute how you kept watching them both like a hawk."
"So were you in case you hadn't noticed. You already have very strong maternal instincts and mine are amplified by my vampiric instincts. Chances are that I won't let them out of my sight in the first couple of months." I said with a soft smile.
She smiled and kissed me softly. "That is not a bad thing love. It will certainly make things easier for me while I'm healing from this whole ordeal. I feel like I'm still gaping down there."
"You probably are love, it'll take a while to heal, but the entire family will be there to wait on you hand and foot. Vicki has already offered to be your personal maid for the next two months." I said with a soft smile.
Bella smiled at that. "I'm inclined to take her up on that offer, because I have a feeling that once this medication wears off, I'll be in a lot of pain and won't be able to move much."
I smiled at her. "I know, and that's why Esme is working on temporary accommodations for you and the girls downstairs in the living room, so that we all can help you out where needed and you don't have to feel cut off from the rest of the family when you're bedridden for a couple of weeks."
Bella nodded and smiled at me. "As long as I can have you and the girls close I'm okay with anything."
I smiled at that as the twins started crying softly. "I think they're hungry again, my love. Who do you want first?"
Bella smiled as she sat up and lowered her top. "It doesn't really matter baby. It's not like the other will feel jealous already."
I nodded and went to get Julia out of the crib. "Hello my sweet, are you hungry? Let's get you to Momma." I said with a gentle smile as she squirmed in my arms a little.
Julia gurgled happily and instantly settled as I handed her over to Bella, latching on to the offered nipples immediately. "How does it feel love? I'm awfully curious." I asked softly.
"I don't know how to describe it really. It's so different when you suck on my nipples, definitely with more suction and to feel them suck the milk out of my breasts is a very weird feeling, but it also feels right, like it's something I am meant to do." She said softly.
I smiled at her as I went to get Olivia, rocking her gently as her sister was fed, and it seemed she loved it as much as I did, which did a lot for the fear I had that they wouldn't be able to see me as their mother. "You're so precious. I can't wait to see what you will grow up to be, but one thing I know for sure, you will be gorgeous."
The little girl gurgled happily and nuzzled a bit further into her blanket and more into her. "Care to switch baby? before your daughter falls asleep with my nipple in her mouth." Bella asked with a soft smile.
I nodded and smiled as I carefully took the once again sleeping Julia from her and handed her Olivia. "We can't have that happen now can we, because the sight of your gorgeous breasts is something for me alone, and maybe the Pixie when she wants to play Bella Barbie again."
She smiled at that. "For the foreseeable future there won't be any chance of that happening. I need to heal first and after that I want to work on getting my figure back with you and Vicki. After that we'll see what happens."
"You know she's going to pout all day when she comes by tomorrow and hears you say that." I said softly.
"I know, and I have the perfect plan to make sure she doesn't, and it's called our daughters. I've noticed she's pretty powerless against them, if the coos and looks she gave them this afternoon were anything to go by." She said with a soft smile.
I laughed lightly at that. "That might actually work. There is only one thing Alice loves more than fashion and that is her nieces."
"See, perfect plan. We'll just hand her Julia or Olivia to cuddle with for half an hour, and she'll forget all about playing Bella Barbie. I'll make up for it when I feel a bit more like myself again. She'll understand." She said softly.
"I'm sure she will baby, shall I take our little one back to her sister?" I asked with a smile.
Bella nodded and smiled. "Yeah, I think she's done eating, and I'm about ready to fall over. I swear I could sleep for three days."
I smiled and took Olivia from me, cooing softly at the baby before putting her back in her crib, and before I had even turned around again, Bella was sound asleep, and as pleasant a sight as it was to see my fiancee with her breasts out, I gently did up her top for her. There would be plenty of time to enjoy her breasts when we were back home.
Bella's POV
After a couple of days in the hospital, I was glad Rosalie and I were back at home, and the corner Esme had prepared for me was very homey and comfortable, and the literal mountain of gifts the girls had gotten from everyone was also a nice thing to come home to, and of course Vicki had gone the extra mile and had chosen an actual maid outfit to wear as she sat next to me. "Please tell me that you're not going to wear that for the entire time you're helping me? Because I am sure I won't have any blood vessels in my face left by the time I am able to do things for myself again."
"Maybe, and maybe not Bella Bird. I kind of like it actually, although I'm still wondering why I let Alice talk me into such a short skirt. Emmett doesn't seem to mind though." She said with a soft smile.
I smiled at her. "I wonder why. I swear you two are worse than Rose and I are when it comes to sex."
Victoria smiled at that. "That's not the only reason Bella. Emmett always loves it when I dress up for him, even if it's just when we go out to dinner. It doesn't always end in sex. Emmett is just an all around good guy who likes to sometimes show me off a little."
"I can't blame him to be honest. You're a beautiful woman that I am proud to call my sister and the Godmother of one of my daughters. Olivia is so lucky to have such a caring and loving godmother." I said with a soft smile.
She smiled at me. "I'm lucky to have you in my life Bella, even if we didn't account for Julia and Olivia. You've touched the heart of every vampire in this house, and of course most of the Volturi Coven as well, and the ones you haven't met, I am sure you'll wrap around your finger as well, and even if you don't they'll respect you as their princess none the less."
"I still don't get why though. I'm nobody special. I'm just Bella." I said softly.
Victoria smiled at me. "You are so much more Bella, remarkable in so many ways. You of all people do not have to be insecure about yourself."
I smiled at her. "I don't mean to be, but my hormones are still a little crazy, and will probably stay crazy for a little while. I'll be okay in a little while."
She smiled at me as my stomach decided to chime in. "It sounds like someone is hungry. What would you like to eat Bella? Something greasy?"
"No thank you. I think I've had enough junk food for a while. Could you see if there is any pasta from last night left?" I asked with a soft smile.
She nodded and made her way to the kitchen, and I just couldn't help but smile at the skip in her step.
She came back a few minutes later with a plate of pasta. "One sizable lunch for the new mother. Is there anything else I can do for you?" She asked with a smile.
I smiled at her as I took the plate from her. "Not really, unless you want to change into something normal. I don't think I can't keep looking at you seriously in that top."
She smiled at that. "Then I'll go change. I'll be right back Bella Bird." She said with a wink.
I only nodded and relaxed against my mountain of pillows. "Hey Bella. Do you mind if we talk for a bit?" Heidi asked softly, and if I didn't know better, I would say she was nervous.
"Of course I don't mind Heidi. What do you want to talk about?" I asked with a soft smile.
She smiled at me and took a seat. "I was hoping we could talk about this whole me being mated to Julia. I know it's not something you would've wanted for your daughter already. Are you truly okay with this, because even though I know it'll hurt tremendously, I care about you a lot too."
"Heidi, you're my sister, and I was telling the truth when I said it doesn't matter. Alice has already seen that both Olivia and Julia will be turned eventually, and knowing that they both will have the same kind of love their mothers have settles any nerves I might have. I do want to know how this will show itself when they're young though." I said with a soft smile.
She smiled at that. "I honestly don't know Bella. I've never heard of something like this happening before. I'll of course try to be as respectful as possible in the early years and work on being the best aunt and godmother I can be, and even when she gets older I will try to push down my instincts. I promise to try and not be myself as much around her once she hits her teens, but I hope you understand that I will want to spend as much time as I can with her."
I smiled at her. "I understand Heidi, and if at any point there is something Rose or I can do to make it easier for you, please let us know. We want to make it as easy a decade for you and Jane as we possibly can, and when the time comes for Julia and Olivia to know about vampires, we'll explain the concept of mates as well, but it is up to you and Jane to talk to them about you two being their mates. They also probably won't be turned until they are sixteen, so you have plenty of time to win your mate's heart."
She smiled and hugged me as well as my position allowed. "Thank you Bella. I was so nervous about what this could mean for our relationship. I don't think I could handle you being mad at me."
"Heidi, I love you like a sister. We've talked about things that I wouldn't even talk to Alice about. I could never be mad at you, not even a little." I said honestly.
She smiled at me as Victoria walked back into the room, thankfully now in her usual jeans and tank top, the two sharing a smile as Victoria took a seat on the end of my bed, and for most of the afternoon we talked about everything that came to mind, only being interrupted by my daughters when they needed to be changed, which Victoria did happily for me, since I still couldn't move very well.
