Pov change woosh"Ruby, wake up! Combat class is about to start!" Yang yelled, waking me up. After a second of thinking and collecting myself I processed her words and stormed out of bed using my semblance. I grabbed my clothes and rushed to the bathroom. Just as quickly as I got out of bed I got dressed and washed. On my way out of the room I snatched Crescent Rose folding it into it's more compact form for comfort.
"I'm coming!" I shouted to let Yang know as I rushed through the halls of Beacon academy using my semblance. Drifting through the corners, nearly hitting the walls looking for our combat classroom.
-xXx-"The first spar of today will be Ruby Rose and Blake Belladonna of Team RWBY against Pyrrha Nikos and Nora Valkyrie of Team JNPR. The goal of today is to improve teamwork and cohesion with non-partners." Explained Glynda. Three of the contestants made their way to the arena, with the exception of RWBY's leader.
"Miss Rose, please come to the arena." The teacher said annoyed.
"I'm here! Sorry I had to go to the bathroom." I apologised while rushing down the stairs.
"Be careful! For today's arena we will be using an indoors scenario, we will watch through cameras inside." The arena shifted into a long enclosed rectangle. Wait, an indoor arena? Crescent Rose is way too big for that! This could be a problem. Well I'll see the size inside. If it all goes wrong I can always just shoot from a comfortable spot.
"Hi!" I quickly welcomed Blake as I entered the battleground. She gave me a wave with a slight look of disappointment and entered after me.
It was a tight corridor. That's gonna be a problem. I thought to myself while unfolding my scythe. Only to find it was much smaller. Still a good and practical size but better for a tighter fighting space. How?
"Wrong question. It's not: how did this happen? It's: how do I beat them?" A deep, raspy voice answered.
"Who are you!" I yelped and jumped slightly.
"Ruby, are you okay?" Blake is worried, she must have not heard the voice. Am I going crazy?
"No. I'm Rhaast, and you can talk to me through thoughts." Again I heard it. Even with my good hearing I couldn't determine where the voice came from. Almost as if it was from inside of me. (TL: Rhaast means obey. It's still a name though.)
"I'm fine. I just thought I uh..heard something. Yeah!…" Good save Ruby! I scratch the back of my head.
"It really wasn't. You humans and your social problems." Rhaast mocked. Wait, what is he then?
"Okay? I'm glad you are fine. But if something is wrong you can talk to any of us, remember that." She reassured me by grabbing my shoulder.
"We begin in 5 seconds." Announced Glynda through the speakers. I tightened my grip on Crescent Rose and corrected my stance. Blake did the same.
"Begin!" Called out Glynda after the promised time passed. I used my semblance and rushed through the halls only to be met with a barrage of grenades from Nora.
CRAP! I CAN'T DODGE THAT!
"Run at the wall like you wanted to hit it." Said Rhaast. WHAT? NO! THAT'S STUPID!
"Just trust me. You don't have a better option do you?" I really did not. I didn't have more time to make a choice so I did as he told me. To my surprise it worked. I was now inside the wall as if there was nothing there. It was like swimming but without the sluggishness and heavy feeling.
"Now go and attack them while they are still confused!" He ordered. And he was right. I used my speed to keep going through the wall and emerged in front of them scythe ready. Their shock at my achievement made a window of opportunity for Blake to slip through their overwatch of explosions with a clear hole in it now..
I swung my scythe with new found familiarity. I adjusted to the size change surprisingly quickly. Pyrrha ducked under my swing but Nora didn't have that luck. Her attempt to duck got interrupted by my weapon, now at her level thanks to the downwards arc I swung it at. I hooked her on the blade and fired a round, which looked crimson weird, using the recoil to throw her back, towards Blake.
Now to deal with the 'invincible' girl. I sweeped upwards with my scythe breaking her guard by knocking away her shield. I then followed up with dragging it down like a guillotine accelerated by a series of shots. She tried to redirect my attack but failed. I saw the look of shock on her face as the blade impacted her shoulder draining her aura.
'Why was she so surprised she couldn't have possibly been able to redirect it?, oh...duh, she didn't know that!'
"The winners are Miss Rose and Miss Belladonna." Glynda announced through our scrolls.
"GOOD!" Yeah!
"NOW FINISH THEM OFF!" No!
My hand struggled with the grip on Crescent Rose and shivered, my vision was hazy and I released my hands, about to stab the blade at the bottom into Pyrrha's shoulder.
Then, a hand on my shoulders turned me around, just in time to knock me out of my trance.
"What was that Ruby?! Since when can you walk through walls?" Blake asked me with a look of shock on her face.
"I don't know actually! It just felt like what I should do in that situation. Instinct you know?" I explained to her while offering my hand to Pyrrha helping her get up.
"W..Wow Ruby, this is a surprise! May I ask some questions after class?" She happily exclaimed. But I could see something was bugging her.
"Sure! But for now we need to go back to our teams right?" I changed the topic quickly.
"Yeah we do." Mused Blake with a suspicious look on her face. She suspects something is wrong doesn't she?
"How did you figure that one out? Still it was a great fight, good job listening to me!" Rhaast congratulated.
'You're mean! but thank you.'-xXx-
Pov change woosh"Ruby what was that? Since when have you changed your fighting style so much? Who taught you that? Nevermind that! You were so cool! I'm so proud of my little sister!" Yang questioned as she hugged me.
"Also Ruby was it just the cameras or was your scythe smaller?" Weiss asked with a thoughtful expression.
"I was about to ask myself actually." Joined Blake.
"I modified it recently so I could use it better indoors." I respond weakly.
"And walking inside the wall?" Pushed Weiss.
"She said it was an instinct in the situation, a new use of her semblance to avoid the explosions." Blake saved me.
"Gonna hide me from them? Well I don't blame you. I'd call myself crazy if I was you." Rhaast added.
'Not helping here!'
"The next pair will be Cardin Winchester and Russel Thrush of Team CRDL versus Weiss Schnee and Yang Xiao Long of Team RWBY!" Thank you professor. You saved me from dealing with this.
"Well we gotta go." Said Yang as she dragged Weiss with her.

The match began with Yang rushing at her enemies with the help of her gauntlets and Weiss's semblance. The floor of the corridor lit up with the Schnee Glyphs. The Members of Team CRDL ran forward to meet her on the way.
This proved to be a huge mistake. Weiss held her rapier close to her chest, closing her eyes to concentrate. The dust filled chamber started spinning, with that my partner's eyes shot open. She stabbed Myrtenaster into the ground, which resulted in ice appearing at Russels and Cardins feet. They both slipped realising their weapons onto the floor with a loud clatter and fell right in front of Yang, who prepared to take them out. Reloading her guantlest and cracking her fists.
Russel in a desperate last act picked up and threw one of his daggers at Weiss. Who simply side stepped it and inspected the now stuck in the wall weapon.
"If you have dust, use it." She remarked when she spotted a similar dust chamber to her own on Russels weapon. At that time my sister unleashed a barrage of bullets onto her enemies. Similar to her attack on the giant nevermore. It was only stopped by Glynda's shout about their aura levels. Then the bell rang and we headed for lunch.

"Ruby, how did you do all that?!" Asked an excited Jaune as soon as I sat down.
"Well you can't really escape this one can you?" Laughed Rhaast.
'Again. Not helping!'
"Well training mostly." I responded awkwardly and embarrassed.
"And walking through walls?" Nora jumped in.
"That was just a new use of my semblance. I did it on instinct. If it wasn't for that your attack would have gotten me." I admit, lying through my teeth once again.
"Really helped you out there didn't I?" Rhaast added sounding prideful.
'Yes… you did. You're still mean though.'
"You're really scary up close though. Beat us so quickly. Almost like a different person." Mused Nora. It was meant to be a compliment but It almost made me fall off my chair.
"She's onto you~" Rhaast, not helping.
"I guess." I said weakly, managing to hide my shock.

We finished our food without any heart stopping questions. Thankfully.
"Ruby, do you have a moment to talk?" Asked me Pyrrha when she noticed I finished.
"Yeah sure!" I answered.
"Privately, in the garden for example." She whispered as I realised what she wanted.
"Yeah." I responded more quietly.

"What is your weapon made out of?" Pyrrha questioned bluntly.
"Dust infused steel." I say without a doubt in my mind. Thank god my love for weapons is stronger than fear of social interactions.
"That can't be. I'll tell you a secret Ruby. My semblance is polarity. It allows me to control the movement of metal. It didn't work on your scythe." She explained.
"Well shit. She knows."
'What do you mean?'."I replaced your scythe, so now it's organic. Good luck explaining that." He told me nonchalantly.
'What?'"I have been tinkering and playing with materials a lot recently! I think I might've added a bit too much chromium into the stainless dust steel mix, I'm not sure. I fell asleep during that yesterday so I need to actually check. I'll give it a checkover and explain it at lunch tomorrow. Okay?"
"Yeah sure, if you used a non magnetic material it would explain a lot." Thank Oum. I got out of that one somehow.
"Good job! I expected you to crash and burn but you got out!" Rhaast complemented.
'Now how about you explain that "I replaced your scythe" thing?'
"I'm a cursed human. I've been locked into a weapon and it was recently destroyed. That weapon was a scythe. And with a lack of a vessel I got placed in the nearest one that was similar. Yours. I can help you, I don't mean harm." Rhaast explained.
'Is there any way to change you back?'
"I'm afraid not." He said saddened.
'I'm sorry.'

Well I technically didn't lie. I just skipped a few things and filled others in with my imagination. This girl is way too naive. If I'm careful with her I'll have a shiny new body sooner than later. And she isn't annoying like Kayn. That smartass brat following Zed's orders. And I always prefered red more than black.
