Chapter 5

Olivia woke up the same way she fell asleep, with Amanda in her arms. She had a few moments of whining and saying no while she slept. She was glad she didn't have a full screaming nightmare. She did wonder what Amanda had been through.

She started moving around, "Good morning! How do you feel?" Amanda sat up and stretched, "Good. Do you have kids?" Olivia winked, "For right now, just you, but someday soon. Do you mind being an older sister?" Amanda's eyes lit up, "No!" She hopped off the bed, "I'm going to the bathroom!" Olivia yelled, "Brush your teeth while you're in there."

Kim and Dr. Hardwicke walked in, "How was she last night?" Olivia answered, "Not bad, but something was happening." Dr. Hardwicke had papers, "I'm ready to release her. Kim figured it would be nicer to show you guys around, and you can take your flight in the morning." Amanda came out, "Morning!" Olivia pointed, "Sit right there and eat your breakfast."

Dr. Hardwicke went over her medical files and said to just find a pediatrician as soon as they got home. Olivia looked at Amanda watching TV, "Does she need a counselor? I'm an SVU detective and even though I knew Serena, I was lucky enough to have my grandparents raise me. Do you know of any trauma, I'd rather deal with it now." Kim smiled gently, "We did examine her, other than neglect, we didn't find anything."

She gave Amanda a bath and Kim brought some clothes. She called Trevor and said they would meet them at the hotel. Olivia put two french braids in Amanda's hair. "Ok, are you ready to break out of here?" Amanda shook her head, "Thank you Dr. Hardwicke!"

They picked up everyone at the hotel and Amanda was the only one who didn't know where they were headed. When they pulled up she screamed, "Legoland! I've seen commercials!" Olivia watched her and Trevor build, "Kim thank you!" Kim thanked her instead, "She deserves happiness."

After that they headed to dinner at Cheesecake Factory. When it was time to order, Olivia looked at Amanda. "If you order something with a vegetable, you can have dessert." Amanda read the menu while everyone ordered, "Hmmm." Amanda was serious. She chewed on her bottom lip and her blonde eyebrows scrunched together. "What's salmon?" Olivia smiled, "It's a fish. I cook it at home." Amanda ordered that and broccoli.

Kim whispered to Olivia, "She doesn't eat well at all. She's trying to please you. Maybe order her the Mac and cheese." They both laughed. When the food came, everyone was eating except Amanda. "What's the matter?" Amanda twisted her hands, "It doesn't look like fish." Olivia smiled, "How about you try it and if you don't like it, we'll get you something else." Amanda tried it, "Hmmm not bad, it's different." They ended up getting her the Mac and cheese, but since she finished the broccoli, she also got dessert.

Kim pulled up to the hotel, "I'll be back in the morning to take you to the airport." Amanda ran down the hall and Trevor ran behind her. "Hey slow down!" She was so excited because she had the keycard. "Night aunt Elizabeth and Alex." Trevor ran water in the bathtub and Olivia looked in Amanda's suitcase. She didn't have much and Olivia remembered Kim explaining she grabbed what was salvageable.

She grabbed a set of pjs. "Thanks babe. Come on Amanda." Olivia felt the water, "Ok, you're good. Dry off really well before you put your pjs on or they'll stick to you all night." Olivia was trying to find a balance, she wasn't a baby. I'm just going to leave the door cracked." Amanda hopped in, "Ok!"

She went out and sat in Trevor's lap, "Are we ready for this?" He laughed, "It's a little late now Liv." She narrowed her eyes at him, "Liv, she's 8, the baby will be harder. We've got this."

Amanda came out with her dirty clothes, "All done!" Olivia took her clothes and put them in a bag. "Where is the rest of my stuff?" Olivia looked, "Kim said she grabbed what she could." Amanda frowned and Olivia asked, "What's missing?" Amanda closed the suitcase, "My tablet." Olivia rubbed her head, "We'll get you a new one. I promise. Come on time for bed."

They we're in a room with two queen size beds. "I have to sleep by myself?" Olivia looked at Trevor, "Well, we will be right here beside you." She climbed in, they turned off the TV and lights. Trevor went to take a shower and Amanda tossed and turned. "Ok, I'll hold you until you go to sleep."

When Trevor came out he laughed, "I see you gave in." Olivia laughed back, "We'll see if you're still laughing in a week, when you haven't gotten any, because we have cock blocker." Trevor's face fell and Olivia giggled, "Move her to that bed, so I can take a shower."

Olivia came out and saw Amanda all over the bed, "No way she sleeps in my bed." They went to sleep and Olivia was out. She heard voices and looked at the clock. It was 1:36 AM. She turned her head and saw Trevor talking to Amanda. "It was just a bad dream. We all have them sometimes. I want you to think about something that makes you happy."

Amanda chewed on her lip. "Olivia makes me happy." Trevor smiled, "She makes me happy too. Lay down and think about her and go to sleep." Amanda did that, but asked, "Will you wait until I'm asleep." Trevor smiled, "Of course. Go ahead."

Trevor gently rubbed her back and in 5 minutes, she was out like a light. He climbed back into bed with Olivia, "Good job daddy. You're good with her." Trevor smiled, "I think you're right." Olivia looked at him and he shook his head, "Talk to me in a week."

The next morning they all headed to the airport. Kim handed Trevor a box and Olivia knew it was her mother's ashes. They decided to bury them with her parents. "Kim, thank you so much for all you and your wife did for Amanda." Amanda was hugging Kim tight and Olivia gave her a business card, "Our personal information is on the back. You can call Amanda anytime." Kim laughed, "Is it that obvious, Amanda is more than a case?" Olivia shook her head, "Hey, I'm glad. If you ever visit New York, you have a place to stay."

They boarded the plane and Amanda was so excited. "Wow! I've never been on a plane." Alex winked at her, "Buckle up." Amanda fastened the seatbelt. "When do I get my new tablet?" Olivia looked at her sister and smiled. "I promise, when we go shopping for clothes." She knew there would be some bumps ahead, but she also knew she would do everything to make Amanda's life better.
