Chapter 8

Olivia woke up naked cradled in Trevor's arms with his hand on her stomach. "Wait until it gets bigger. We were supposed to be more careful after sex. I'm naked." Trevor pointed, "We were the door is shut, plus Lucy is here."

Olivia thought about Lucy, because something was going on. "We need to talk to her, Trevor." He jumped up, "Ok let's have a chat with Amanda before school." Olivia looked, "Oh yeah her too, but I meant Lucy. Something's going on." Trevor put on his shirt, "Oh yeah. I figured. I don't mind her being here, Liv." They threw on some clothes and brushed their teeth. "I don't mind either, but I don't want her hiding stuff."

They walked out to breakfast. Olivia kissed Amanda, "Morning baby!" Amanda had a mouthful of toast, "Morn mummy." She poured her coffee and touched Lucy's long brown hair, "Morning Lucy!" They sat down to eat and Trevor went first, "Amanda, mommy and I want to talk to you." Lucy tried to excuse herself and Olivia patted her leg, "Stay your fine."

Olivia noticed the same reaction as when she touched her hair, she jumped. "What happened yesterday Amanda? What scared you about us visiting your teacher? And why haven't you mentioned your friends that live here in the building?"

Amanda knew the difference between living with Serena and living with Olivia, but something was still holding her back. "I'm bad in school. I mean I used to be bad." Olivia shook her head, "Your teacher didn't say that and we aren't thinking about the past." Amanda looked at the clock, "I'm going to be late."

Trevor told her not to worry. "When mommy used to see my teacher it didn't matter if I was good or bad. She always came home, locked me in the closet, and wouldn't feed me until the next morning. I had to sleep there and when she would let me out the next morning, she would be nice." Olivia balled her fists up. Tears fell down Lucy's face. Trevor kept questioning, "What do you mean by nice?"

Amanda looked at them all, "She would stand at the door and say she would let me out if I didn't tell on her. She would give me a bath, make me pancakes, and clean up while I ate. She always had bottles lying around." Trevor took a deep breath. "Am I in trouble?" Olivia picked her up and held her, "No baby." Amanda held her, "Mommy?" Olivia looked at her, "I knew she wasn't supposed to do that, but she would say she was sick. I didn't want her to get in trouble."

Olivia held her, "It's ok Amanda. Mommy and daddy don't do things that way. Even if we have punishments, they are because we know you can do better. I promise you, we will never treat you like that and she shouldn't have either." Trevor added, "Amanda, if anyone does anything like that, or touches you, or makes you feel uncomfortable. Don't ever be afraid to tell us. We will protect you."

Amanda smiled, "Ok! I love you mommy and daddy. Lucy, are you ready?" Olivia looked at Lucy, "Amanda, let daddy take you to school." Trevor grabbed his keys, "I'll be back. They headed out the door, "Amanda, tell me about your friends. We can all go somewhere fun one weekend."

Lucy tried to get away and clean. "Oh no! You and I need to talk." Lucy sat and looked at Olivia, "I'm ok." Olivia leaned forward, "I'm a SVU detective, something is going on and you are not ok. You won't go home and that's fine, we love you being here, but if you're not ok, you can tell me." Olivia waited, but in the end Lucy wouldn't budge. Olivia showered and when Trevor got back, Olivia explained she didn't get anywhere with Lucy. They both headed to work.

The week went on and Olivia realized she shouldn't have pushed Lucy. She didn't ask to spend the night anymore and didn't show up at all on Saturday. Olivia and Trevor did finally meet Amanda's two best friends. They invited them to a playdate and when their parents came to pick them up, they decided to have dinner.

Amanda was so happy. "Today was fun! Mommy, where's Lucy?" Olivia smiled, "She's supposed to come for pictures tomorrow. Let daddy run your bath and come back when you're done." Trevor came back while Olivia was dialing. "Lucy, it's me Olivia. I get the feeling you're upset with me. I'm sorry and we love you. Well, this is a reminder that family Christmas pictures are tomorrow and we sure would like you in them. Bye."

Amanda came back running at full speed and started to jump right on top of Olivia, but Trevor grabbed her. "Amanda, we need to talk to you." Amanda sat in between them in the bed. "Remember when I asked you if you wanted to be a big sister?" She was smart, her eyes got big, and she lifted up Olivia's shirt and felt her stomach. "You can't feel it yet, but it's there. That's why daddy grabbed you and we want you to be a little more careful ok?"

She shook her head. Trevor tapped her, "Hey we're telling you, but it's a secret. You can't tell anyone. Tomorrow we're taking a family picture to send to everyone, so they'll know." Amanda gave two thumbs up, "Got it!" Amanda went to lay down, "Ummmm mommy, I can't lay on you?" Olivia kissed her, "Yes, lay right here." Amanda snuggled close, "Is it a brother or sister?" Olivia explained they hadn't found out yet. "Will you still hold me when the baby comes?" She kissed her, "Yep and he or she is due in June, so you are my helper all summer long." Amanda went fast to sleep.

The next morning they were headed to meet the photographer and take Christmas pictures. "Why are we taking Christmas pictures and it's not Christmas?" Trevor zipped her coat, "So they go out in time." He grabbed her hat, "No daddy, my hair." Olivia laughed, Trevor made it clear he wanted a boy. When they opened the door Lucy was there. "Lucy! You made it!" They didn't have time to talk.

They took a bunch of pictures and even saw some proofs. Trevor handed the photographer red and white striped baby shoes, a board that said "One more reason to be merry. Baby Langan due in June", and a sonogram. Lucy gasped, "Oh my gosh! Congratulations!" Amanda winked, "It's a secret Lucy."

They put Amanda in the front with her hands open to hold the shoes. Trevor held the sonogram over Olivia's belly and the plan was to kiss her. "Ok young lady, you've got the biggest job." He put Lucy in a Santa suit. Amanda giggled, "Lucy's Santa!"

He told her to hold the board, slide in the picture, and put her finger over her lips like it was a secret. "Great shot! Come and see." They went over to look at it." Lucy smiled, "I can't believe I'm in your photos to send out." Olivia rubbed Lucy's back, "You're family Luce!" Lucy winced and Olivia was horrified, but she knew she couldn't do this here.

Trevor thanked the photographer and he said he would have the cards by next week for pick up. "Hey Lucy! We're going to lunch, come on with us." Lucy went and Olivia tried not to make a big deal about anything. "Thanks for today guys."

They smiled and Amanda begged Lucy to come with them. "Not today. I have to get home, but I will pick you up tomorrow morning for school." Trevor knew something was wrong, Olivia was giving off all signals. "Ok, we'll drop you off."

They pulled up at Lucy's building. They had never been there and didn't know much, but it didn't look good. "Thanks, see you tomorrow." Olivia stopped her, "Luce, My offer still stands and no questions asked." She smiled, "Thanks, I'm ok." Olivia watched her go in and look at a guy sitting on the step. She couldn't say much because of little ears, but she had to say something. "This isn't good." Trevor looked at her, "Agreed."

They all relaxed the rest of the day. Trevor and Olivia had a serious discussion about Lucy and decided they needed to play good cop bad cop and help her. Olivia heard her phone. She looked at the clock, 3:48 AM. She grabbed her phone, "Hey Fin!"

She sat up and hit Trevor, "Fin, slow down! What! Oh my gosh! What hospital?" I'm on my way!" Trevor was on high alert, "Liv, what's wrong?" Olivia threw on clothes, "I didn't follow my instinct and Lucy paid for it. She's in the hospital. Stay with Amanda and I'll call you when I know something." She kissed him, "I love you!"
