Chapter 9

When Olivia got there she immediately found Fin. Munch was in the room. She saw Lucy sitting on the bed, not moving or talking. "Let me in there!" Fin stopped her, "Cragen said no. You're too close." Olivia saw bruises, "She's been beaten." Fin shook his head, "Liv, she was raped."

Olivia felt like someone punched her in the stomach. She found the nearest trash can and gave back her dinner. Cragen came by, "Fin, get her chair." Cragen knelt down, "Elizabeth is on the way. Look at me, you cannot go in there like this. She needs you strong."

Olivia pulled herself together and asked the nurse, "Is Dr. Hendrix on call?" The nurse said they would page her right away. Rebecca Hendrix was a doctor who also helped women with trauma. She had worked with her on many cases and was the best. "Captain, I'm good."

Olivia went into the room, Fin, followed. She brushed her brown hair out of her face, "Lucy, it's me Olivia." Lucy just starred, "I should have come with you." Olivia comforted her, "Shhhhh. It's ok." Dr. Hendrix knocked on the window, "Lucy, this is my partner Fin. He's going to stay with you. I'll be right back."

She walked out and met the doctor. Munch was explaining she wouldn't talk at all. They decided to have Olivia talk to her. "Hi Lucy! My name is Rebecca Hendrix and I'm a doctor." Olivia went next, "Lucy, we want to do a rape kit. I will be right here. Is that ok?" Lucy agreed and they laid her back on the table. "Squeeze my hand whenever it hurts.

They started the long procedure. Fin took notes, while Olivia talked to her, "Do you know who did this?" Lucy shook her head, while they took pictures of her bruised body. Olivia had been doing this long enough. She knew some of the bruises were older and some were new. "I can't tell you. It won't matter anyway." She squeezed Olivia's hand, "He's a cop."

Fin looked up. Olivia looked at Dr. Hendrix. A lady with brown hair burst into the room and Lucy jumped, "You stupid little whore!" Fin grabbed her, "Hey! You can't be here. She looked at Olivia, "So this is where you've been. Does she know?" Olivia looked at Lucy and she was terrified. "You're so stupid! Olivia Benson!"

Olivia found her voice, "Actually I'm a Sergeant and my name isn't Benson, it's Langan. Who are you?" The lady scoffed, "I'm her mother, but I can see who she cares about." Olivia had enough, "Fin get her out of here!" Fin was pulling her and she hit him. He was asking Munch for help, "Go ahead Lucy! Tell her! Tell your sister everything!"

The entire room stopped! Cragen called for the extra police officers to take Lucy's mom and charge her with assaulting a police officer. Lucy cried and Olivia gave Hendrix a look. "Lucy, I'm going to swab your mouth." They gave her some medicine and when Dr. Hendrix finished, Lucy was allowed to shower and drink something. Olivia never left, never said anything about the sister comment, she only offered her comfort.

Lucy gave them the name of the cop. Turns out it was the scum bag on the steps. His name was Brian Cassidy. He was an undercover cop who had been dating Lucy's mother for years. They picked him and he was a cop so his DNA was already in the system. Fin gave him a number, "You're like a smart dummy. You're done!" Lucy picked him out, just for correct measures.

Olivia looked at her phone and saw several missed calls from Trevor. She hadn't spoken with him, only sent texts to update him on Lucy. "Trevor!" He was always there for her, "Baby just breathe." She was relieved to hear his comforting voice. "Are you sitting down?" Trevor became concerned, "Yeah baby." She explained everything that happened, but she didn't know the details. Trevor was his normal self, "I'm here for you, for Lucy, and Amanda." Olivia shook her head, "Oh my gosh. Some mom, Amanda." Trevor laughed, "She's fine. She's in school, but I promised her you two would be home this afternoon."

Lucy sat in Cragen's office with Olivia. Cragen and Munch joined them, knowing the connection. They treaded lightly, because she was still an emotional wreck. They waited for Dr. Hendrix. She handed Olivia the paperwork. The proof was there in black and white, Olivia and Lucy had the same father.

Dr. Hendrix spoke, "Lucy we know today has been traumatic, but we are all here for you. Do you want to explain?" Lucy shook her head and looked at Olivia. "I'm sorry. I know the truth. I know your mom was raped." Olivia held her hand and wiped her tears, "Don't ever be sorry."

Lucy explained, "Everything was fine with my mom and I. Brian has been in my life for years. It's always been just us. She always said my dad was no good and just left her pregnant. When I went to college, I needed my birth certificate. She had a file, with all that stuff. I didn't ask or tell her, I just took it."

Lucy took a sip of water. "I saw my father's name on it, William Baker." Cragen and Munch immediately looked at each other. That was it, her father's name. "I went behind her back to see him. He goes by Billy and he's in prison for life." They all listened to her and Cragen shouted, "Charlie Baker!" Munch hung his head. They remembered them, Charlie was in their class, but Billy was younger.

Lucy continued, "Yeah, that's his brother, but he's dead now." Olivia couldn't believe how all this had come about. Lucy told them everything he told her. They were in high school, bad boys. She gave them details about the party and Serena. "He told me he didn't want to rape her but Charlie molested him for years and threatened to do right there if he didn't."

Olivia was stunned, "He was trying to get his life together and was dating my mom. When she was pregnant with me, Charlie picked him up to rob a house and ended up murdering the family." Dr. Hendrix was talking to her in between to make sure she was still ok. "He knew Serena got pregnant, because he saw her later. He told me I either had a sister or a cousin. I didn't have your name, I only knew Serena. So I looked up her name. It was like fate when I saw her obituary."

Olivia knew then and looked at Cragen. "Elizabeth ran it before we left for Atlanta, because she had friends in New York." Lucy continued, "My mom knew more than she ever said. She saw me reading the obituary and flipped. It was a big fight, but I told her everything. She quit paying my tuition and Brian became an asshole."

When Lucy started crying, Olivia grabbed her, "I had to get a job anyway. I went to your building and you were in Atlanta. I saw the help wanted for the play center and thought it was perfect, because I could see you. I looked you up and saw your picture. I thought we looked alike. I had no idea about Amanda and when you told me, I decided not to tell you."

Olivia hugged her and Lucy cried, then screamed. "Baby, get it out! I'm so sorry. I will take care of you. Trevor and I will protect you. No one will hurt you again. Amanda's gonna be really jealous though, so I'm sure you're going to have to be her sister too." Lucy stopped crying and laughed. "Olivia, today was a rough day." She held her and kissed her, "Dr. Hendrix and I will make sure the days get better.

Olivia helped Lucy in the car. When Olivia got in and started driving, Lucy asked where she was taking her. "I can't go home with you." Olivia pulled the big sister card, "Ummm, yes you can and you will." Lucy threw her head back, "But Trevor and what are you going to tell Amanda? When she sees my face…"

Olivia stopped her, "Trevor already knows. We don't have secrets, Luce." Lucy smiled at the nickname. "As for Amanda, she's 8. I will tell her you got hurt and I'm sure the only thing she will want to do is take care of you." Lucy was still unsure, "Are you going to tell her we're sisters?" Olivia shook her head, "Yeah. Is that ok?" Lucy smiled, "Yeah Liv."
