Chapter 10
Olivia gave Lucy medicine to help her sleep after she heard her screaming from a nightmare. She put her on the couch and brushed her dark brown hair back until she was finally asleep again. She checked on her while she made dinner.
When she heard the door she turned to see an excited 8 year old. "Shhhhhh." Amanda tiptoed to her and hugged Olivia. "I missed you mommy." Trevor kissed her, "Hey baby!" Amanda walked over to Lucy and saw the bruises. "Mommy!" They both said, "Shhhhhhh." Amanda pointed, "Who hurt Lucy?" Olivia pulled her in her lap, "A bad man and you need to help us take care of her." Amanda kissed her cheek, "Ok mommy."
Olivia winked, "Now help us and do your homework before dinner." Amanda jumped up and pulled it out. Trevor was helping Olivia with dinner. She looked at Lucy still asleep and Amanda at the table working hard. She was cute when she was serious, her eyebrows would scrunch together and she would chew on her lip. "You know with the baby, Amanda, and now Lucy, maybe I should stay home. My mom did once Serena had me."
Trevor looked serious, "Financially you can, but I don't think that's what you want." Olivia sighed, "And I don't want you making decisions on emotions. You're pregnant Liv, and this is a lot." Olivia kissed him as a thank you. She turned around and Amanda was gone.
She looked at the couch and Amanda was sitting right in front of Lucy. She was rubbing her face. "Hey! That's a nice wake up call." Amanda leaned in, "Can kiss your boo boos." Lucy shook her head and Amanda kissed cheek and forehead.
She got Trevor's attention. What am I going to do with them? You know there's 21 years between Amanda and I and 11 years between Lucy and I." Trevor smiled, "You're going to love them, protect them, and do whatever it takes to make them happy. You already do." Trevor told her he would set the table. "Are you two ready for dinner?"
They sat down at the dining room table for dinner. Amanda's eating habits had improved, but vegetables were still a struggle. Trevor was the heavy hand, "Amanda, eat your salad not just your spaghetti." Olivia looked at Lucy who wasn't eating, "You need to eat." Lucy did something she never did, she rolled her eyes.
"Amanda, we got some fun news today." She had Amanda's full attention. "You know how me and you are sisters?" Amanda shook her head, "Yeah but you're my mommy." Olivia giggled, "I am, but when the doctor helped Lucy today, we found out she's my sister too." Lucy immediately started eating. Amanda gasped, "We're all sisters?" Olivia explained, "Well, not quite. You and I have the same mom, but Lucy and I have the same dad." Amanda frowned, "I want to be her sister!" Lucy tickled her, "You are ok!" Olivia finally saw a smile.
Lucy was in the shower and Amanda was in the bath. "Trevor, I want to invite Kim and Gillian up for Thanksgiving. Amanda might like that, plus they can see how well she's doing." He agreed, "I also need to tell you, Lucy may have nightmares. "I gave her pills this afternoon." Olivia called Kim and Gillian and they were so excited to surprise Amanda. Amanda was out of the bath and on her iPad, but no Lucy.
She walked to her room and heard the shower and crying. "Luce, are you ok?" Olivia didn't hear anything. "I'm going to come in, unless you say no." Olivia walked in and grabbed a towel. She could see her on the shower floor in a ball. It broke her heart. She opened the door, cut off the water, and knelt down. "He hurt me, Liv. It wasn't just today. It's my fault. You asked me and told me to come with you."
Olivia was trained for this, but not her sister. "Luce, whatever is going through your mind. None of this is your fault." She helped her out of the shower and got her dressed. "This is so embarrassing. You find out I'm your sister and you have to put clothes on me. Amanda doesn't even need this."
Olivia put her shirt on her, "I will do anything for you. Remember, one thing, I cared about you and would do anything before I found out we were sisters." Lucy smiled and quickly frowned, "I'm sorry I rolled my eyes at you."
Olivia raised her eyebrows, "Yeah, well how about we blame it on a really shitty day." Olivia talked her into coming out and spending time with the family. Lucy stood up, "But I'm the older sister and next you're going over my knee." Olivia at least got her second laugh. "Come on!"
They watched TV together and ate popcorn. Amanda was curled up in Olivia's lap. "Lucy, when is your birthday?" They all looked at her, because they didn't know. "The 4th of July." Amanda sat up, "Mine is June 30th. Do you get fireworks on your birthday?" Everyone laughed, "Baby, we all get fireworks on her birthday. But hey you two are close. Trevor's is Christmas Day and I'm February 7th."
Amanda was ready for a celebration, "We can have a party together." Trevor pulled Amanda in his lap. "I'd love to!" Olivia noticed Lucy sitting off to the side and pulled her into her lap. "Amanda can share me, right Amanda?" Amanda gave two thumbs up. "Lucy, I have to go to bed first, so after she holds me, she can hold you."
Trevor put his hand over his heart, "I'm hurt!" The girls laughed at him. Trevor took his shower and Amanda was in Olivia's arms when Lucy showed up at the door. "I just came to say goodnight." Olivia brushed Amanda's blonde hair back. "Give me a minute. Come on in and lay down with us." Lucy was nervous, but she laid down next to Olivia and Amanda. "She's out for the count. Is Trevor going to be upset?"
Trevor walked in, "Upset about what?" Lucy sprung up and Olivia stopped her, "It's ok." Lucy looked at him smiling, "Us taking up the bed." Trevor looked, "Never! I'd do anything for my girls. And I'll start by taking this one to her bed." Olivia pulled Lucy in her arms, "Are you tired?" Lucy shook her, "Yeah but Liv, I'm scared to sleep." Olivia patted her leg, "Come on, let me help." They passed Trevor, "Everything ok?"
Olivia shook her head and grabbed her pills. They got to her room and sat on the bed. Olivia handed her two pills and some water. "Am I going to take these the rest of my life?" Olivia didn't want to lie, "I don't know, but we're going to work on it." She swallowed the pills, "Luce, this is all fresh and these are just to help. Lay down for me." She brushed her hair, Lucy closed her eyes and went to sleep.
She left the door cracked and headed to her room. She peeked in on Amanda and closed her door. She was good now, she only had Lucy to worry about now. She looked at Trevor and started to close their door, "Babe, can I leave this open?" Trevor smiled, "Of course, unless you're planning to jump bones, because you are loud." She fell in his arms, "Not tonight, but when things settle, I will get some. What a day."
