Chapter 11
It was the day before Thanksgiving. Trevor and Olivia were at the airport waiting for Kim and Gillian. "Liv, I need you slow." Olivia rolled her eyes, "Yeah Trevor! Sure that's not going to happen."
Olivia had been working cases and making sure Amanda was still getting attention now that Lucy was a bigger part of the family and living with them. She was leaving work and taking Lucy to therapy 3 times a week. Lucy would only go if Olivia took and went in to be with her. Dr. Hendrix even switched with another doctor. Lucy was seeing Dr. Alexis Hanover and making really good progress.
Last Saturday, Alex and Fin were supposed to take Amanda and Lucy to the movies, while her and Trevor had a date night, but they were both held up. A 9 year old girl named Maria called 911 and said she was being held in a room and needed help. She and Fin were stuck there the whole weekend.
At one point Cragen and Munch tried to convince Olivia and Fin that it was a hoax. The search continued the next day and they still didn't go home. She was stuck on the phone with Maria. She even sent Fin out and he came back with nothing.
After 24 hours, Maria's phone was dying and the kidnapper found out she was talking. They followed their only trace to an electronic store. They looked around and Olivia saw a man that Maria described. He tried to get away and almost hit Olivia with his car. The man buried the little girl alive and Olivia had to perform CPR, but she saved her life.
"Liv, don't roll your eyes at me! You will slow down, for your sake, the baby, your sisters, and me! Have you thought about what would happen if you weren't here?" Olivia went silent and refused to talk. She waved at Kim and Gillian like they weren't in the middle of an argument. "Don't you dare yell at me again."
Olivia hopped out of the car, "Welcome to New York guys. It's so good to see you." Trevor joined them and helped with their bags. They headed home and got them settled in the guest room. "So let me get this straight, you found two sisters. Wow you should write a book."
She heard Trevor, "Hey guys! Thanks Fin! Where's Alex?" Alex was dragging behind. She had Amanda's book bag and Chinese takeout. "Right here, getting no help." Trevor laughed, "Really Fin, way to earn those points." Trevor and Fin had a running joke about earning good points got them sex. Amanda heard that, "What points daddy?" Olivia rolled her eyes at the inappropriate talk, knowing they had guests. "What did I tell you about adult talk? You have guests."
Amanda looked, "Kim! Dr. Hardwicke!" She ran to hug them. Lucy helped Alex with the food and they all sat down for dinner. After dinner and showers they sat in the family room talking and catching up. Amanda swore she would stay up late since she didn't have school, but she was out like a light by 9:00.
Trevor grabbed her from Olivia's lap. "Well let me put this one to bed." Kim and Gillian smiled, "No nightmares, she's doing well." Lucy stood up, "Nice to meet you. I'll see you in the morning." Olivia didn't get a hug. "I'll be right back." Kim stopped her, "Actually, we are beat. We'll see you in the morning."
Olivia saw Trevor come out of Amanda's room and she pointed to Lucy's door and held up both her hands to signal 10 minutes. He smiled and went to the bedroom. Olivia knew they needed to talk, because it wasn't like them to fight.
She saw Lucy sitting on the bed, "Hey, am I welcome?" Lucy looked at her, "Of course." Olivia sat beside her, "Well, just checking, because you didn't hug me goodnight." Lucy hugged her, "I still have nightmares." Olivia put her arm around her, "That comment wasn't about you or comparing you two. They were by Amanda's side when I couldn't be and they deserve to be updated."
Lucy knew that, she just had her moments. "Luce, I'm so proud of how far you've come in just a few weeks. You're getting better. You don't need the pills, your nightmares are decreasing, and you don't need me to sit with you while you go to sleep. Even though I didn't mind." Lucy smiled, "Liv, I love you and if I don't tell you enough thank you." Olivia hugged and kissed her, "Night." Lucy smiled, "I know I'm the younger sister, but you should make up with Trevor or tomorrow will be weird." Olivia narrowed her eyes, "How did you know that?" Lucy shrugged, "Your vibe is off."
Olivia headed to her room and shut the door. Trevor was on his side facing away from her side. She walked to his side and looked at him, "So you're going to bed, you don't want to talk to me." He pulled her into bed and rolled over, "Not worried about the baby?" Trevor just looked at her and she looked into his blue eyes and they looked sad. "I'm sorry Trevor. I love my job, my family, and things haven't been easy."
Trevor held her, "That's why I'm here. Don't try to do it on your own." Olivia unloaded on him. She explained her hormones were all over the place. She was struggling giving Amanda attention and Lucy at the same time. She explained as good as she is at being a SVU detective, hearing her sister's details about her abuse and rape over the months was a lot.
"Trevor, it hurts so much." Trevor held her while she cried and she cried for a long time. When she stopped, she felt better. "I won't keep it in again." She kissed him, "Now, I owe some really good make up sex."
Thanksgiving was perfect! They all had breakfast together and then the real cooking started. Everyone helped and they had a house full. Trevor said the blessing and everyone went around the table saying what they were thankful for.
The next day, Trevor and Fin went to get a Christmas tree, while the girls went shopping. "Amanda, remember what I said. Don't tell daddy about any gifts." Her and Lucy definitely acted like sisters, "Yeah squirt or you lose a gift every time." Kim and Gillian laughed. "Mommy!" The family dropped off Kim and Gillian at the airport. "Thank you so much for the invitation. Next time, you guys should come to Atlanta."
On Sunday, they decorated the Christmas tree as a family. Lucy fixed the ornaments and handed them to Amanda. "I never had a Christmas tree with mommy before. I think I had them with daddy, but I don't remember." Lucy looked at Trevor and Olivia, they knew this one had to be special. "Well, knock that off your bucket list. After we finish, I'm going to help you make the biggest and best Christmas wish list ever." Amanda yelled, "All right!"
Trevor and Olivia made dinner while Lucy and Amanda made her list. Amanda's eyebrows scrunched together and she chewed on her lip. "Amanda, this is supposed to be fun." Olivia leaned against the counter and watched them. "I haven't really done this before. Mommy only gave me a tablet. She picked me up early one day and took me to lunch. She was really silly that day." Olivia knew that meant she was probably drunk. "When I saw it I asked, because all the kids at school had one."
Amanda sighed, "Now I have a better one from Fin." Lucy took the paper and pencil, "Well, they're fun, but too much time on them rots your brain. Let's go with a classic gift." Lucy started writing, "A bike? I can't ride a bike." Olivia giggled, "I'll teach you, but we have to wait until spring. Your turn."
Amanda was a fast learner. She added a hoverboard, a unicorn bathrobe, a diary with a lock, a waterproof digital camera, lots of board games, the dork diaries reading set, and blue walkie talkies. "I'm done!" Olivia looked at the list, "Not bad for your first list. Board games?" Amanda smiled, "Kat and her family have a family night. They eat dinner and pick a board game. I want to try it."
Trevor kissed Amanda's head, "Hey, we make that work this week. I'll pick up the game." Olivia told Amanda to take her bath before dinner. She handed Lucy a blank piece of paper. "Your turn. I'll give you a week to get it back to me." Lucy looked at her, "I don't want anything." Olivia took the paper, "Let's go with a classic gift, but add a twist." Lucy looked, "Driving lessons?" Olivia winked, "It's better than a bike."
