"Wasn't it exciting to be recognized by so many people?!" Ochako asked, standing right next to Izuku's desk, blocking Kyouka's view of the boy.
Izuku rubbed the back of his neck. "I don't know if I would say that… Personally, it was mostly exhausting and embarrassing. But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little flattered by the support people were giving."
"I felt quite embarrassed myself. I had to ask father to install the tinted windows on our limousine when we went out for dinner yesterday." Momo sympathized, while Ochako and Izuku looked at her in disbelief. "What is it?"
Ochako felt her entire body freeze up. "L-L-Limousine…? L-Like the car?"
"Wow, you have a real extravagant lifestyle, don't you, Yaoyorozu?"
"Hm? Well, I suppose it would seem a little extravagant. But that might be an over-exaggeration." Momo turned to Kyouka. "My life doesn't sound that extravagant, does it, Jirou?"
"I'm sorry, I can't hear very well with Ochako's butt taking up most of my view." Kyouka bluntly said, leaning to the side to get a view of her hero.
Ochako's cheeks went a little red before quickly stepping away. "S-Sorry about that, Jirou. I wasn't paying attention."
"Jirou, is something wrong?" Momo asked in concern. "You don't currently seem much like yourself."
"Well, I'm in a bit of an annoyed mood if you can't tell." Kyouka grumbled out.
"She's been like this ever since we got off the train. I've asked her multiple times why she's suddenly annoyed, but I can't get an answer out of her." Izuku explained, looking at Momo and Ochako.
Kyouka sighed. "I keep telling you, it's nothing to worry about, Izuku. I'm just feeling cranky. Maybe it's the rainy morning combined with all the constant attention we've been getting that's making my mood down. I'm sure my mood will perk up any minute now."
In reality, the cause of her mood came from a certain conversation Kyouka overheard on the train.
Flashback
"How were you able to keep up with Todoroki like that? His quirk is insane. And just how cold was his ice? How hot was his fire? You were the only person who experienced both." A random man asked Izuku, getting in his face.
"W-Well, I guess you could sa-"
A woman approached the boy. "My kid couldn't stop cheering for you and neither could I! I look forward to next year's festival!"
Kyouka sighed at the two adults standing right between her and Izuku. "Guys, please give him some spac-"
Another woman got in between the two friends, looking at the girl. "Jirou, I just want to say that my daughter was so inspired by watching your fight against Bakugo. I'm so grateful."
"Okay, cool, but can you not-"
The woman then held both of her hands. "And if you know that Uraraka girl then please extend my gratitude to her as well."
Kyouka closed her eyes and took in a deep breath, trying to calm herself down. 'I can't jam my earphone jacks into this woman or the two people bugging Izuku. That would be wrong… and illegal. Mostly illegal.'
Kyouka continued to slowly breathe in and out as the woman continued to talk her ears off about how much of an inspiration she is.
Meanwhile, two highschool girls that respectively had cat and bunny ears were standing across the train car, talking amongst themselves.
"That boy is kinda cute, don't you think?"
"Shh, he might hear you. Don't embarrass us."
"But am I right?"
"...yes…"
"You should go and talk to him."
"Are you crazy? He doesn't even know who I am. And even if I did talk to him, I think him and that girl are an item."
"Nah, she's totally in the friendzone. I could tell when I was watching the festival on TV yesterday. Did you even watch it?"
"Of course I didn't. You know I'm not interested in those sports events."
"Well, I'm telling you, that girl isn't any competition for you. Once we reach our stop, I want you to go up to him, give him your number, and wait for him to call you."
"Do you think I can do this?"
"Of course you can. This boy is possibly your soulmate. You can't let this chance slip away."
"Okay… Yeah, I'll do it."
Kyouka was now completely tuning out the woman and every single person in the train as her ears were focused on these two girls specifically.
A shadow covered her eyes as she stared at the two girls, a dark aura surrounding her. 'Hell is going to freeze over before I let any of you tramps even get into contact with Izuku. And if you manage to do that, then soon you'll be begging you never set your sights on him in the first place and suffer the consequences. I'm sure no one will notice something happening to two random ass girls…'
As soon as they reached their stop, Kyouka grabbed onto Izuku's wrist and got out of the train and out of the station as fast as she could, not giving those two girls a chance to even get close to her hero.
She also may or may not have used her earphone jacks to trip the two girls while everyone else was rushing out of the train, to ensure her and Izuku's escape from them.
Kyouka had to admit that she might have overreacted in her thoughts just a tad after hearing those girls chatting.
'Dammit, why am I being so stupid? I shouldn't let the words of two girls ruin my day. It's not like they'll ever have the chance to get to know Izuku. And he's way out of their league anyway. Still… That friendzone comment was a real punch to the gut. Well, even if I am in the friendzone, I'll just get myself out. If I start losing faith in the possibility of Izuku seeing me the same way I see him then he'll end up being stolen from right under my nose. That's not going to happen.'
"Yeah, it's getting annoying. I hate being at the center of attention." Shoji agreed from one of his tentacles.
"I hear it's common for new faces at the Sports Festival to get this kind of attention, but a third year I ran into this morning told me that the attention dies down pretty quick." Sato commented.
Aoyama popped out of nowhere. "However, I'm sure people will always pay attention to the dazzling presence of moi. It's impossible to take your eyes off me."
Kyouka and everyone else ignored the dazzling boy as she leaned her head back. "That's a relief to hear. I don't want to have to get used to this sudden celebrity status."
Suddenly, the door to class opened as all of the students quickly got back to their seats.
"Morning."
"Good morning, Mr. Aizawa."
Aizawa walked into the classroom, standing before his students, his bandages now off with a scar under his right eye.
"Ribbit. Mr. Aizawa, you don't have bandages anymore." Tsuyu commented.
"The old lady's treatment was excessive. But never mind that. We have a big class today on hero informatics.
'Oh no.'
Most of the students were internally freaking out at this, each one of them thinking that they would either have to learn about laws or even a pop quiz.
"You need codenames. Time to pick your hero identities."
"THIS IS TOTALLY GONNA BE AWESOME!"
Aizawa activated his quirk, his eyes glowing and his hair rising to make his students calm down in an instant.
Aizawa sighed as he deactivated his quirk. "This is related to the Pro Hero draft picks that I mentioned the last time we were in class together. Normally, students wouldn't have to worry about the draft yet. Not until their second or third year actually, but your class is different. In fact, by extending offers to first years like you, pros are essentially investing in your potential. Any offers can be rescinded if their interest in you dies down before graduation though."
Mineta smacked his table. "Stupid, selfish adults."
"So what you're saying is, we still have to prove ourselves after we've been recruited." Toru wanted to confirm.
"Correct. Now. Here are the totals for those of you who got offers." Aizawa said before pressing a button on a remote.
The students then looked at the screen that appeared on the blackboard.
Todoroki: 4,123
Bakugo: 3,556
Midoriya: 1,772
Iida: 301
Kaminari: 272
Yaoyorozu: 184
Tokoyami: 117
Kirishima: 68
Jirou: 36
Uraraka: 20
Sero: 14
"In past years it's been more spread out. But there's a pretty big gap this time."
Kyouka immediately made a smug face as soon as she saw that she got more offers than Ochako. 'Take that.'
Sure, she would've liked to get a lot more offers than 36, but considering that her quirk is probably the lamest out of her classmates who also got offers, 36 is a solid number.
"Whoa, those are a lot of offers, Midoriya. Good job." Mineta complimented, patting Izuku's shoulder from behind.
"Thanks, Mineta. I appreciat-"
"But you probably would've gotten so much more if you didn't break yourself. Oh well."
Izuku lowered his head onto his table. "You didn't have to include that last part, you know…"
"Hey, don't let that get you down. Those other heroes don't know what they're missing." Kyouka consoled Izuku, placing a hand on his shoulder before casually pulling Mineta out of his seat with her earphone jack.
"Ow!"
"You're right. I should be grateful I got so many offers in the first place. It's unreal." Izuku said, smiling as he picked his head back up before noticing something on the board. "Huh, Kacchan got fewer offers than Todoroki?"
Mineta climbed back up on his seat. "Makes sense. Bakugo was a total animal throughout the festival."
Sero snickered. "He even had to be chained up like one. Probably freaked a lot of people out."
Bakugo turned towards Sero, clenching his fist. "If I scared a pro, they're just weak!"
Ojiro cupped his chin. "I'm surprised Midoriya got so many offers since he only made it to the second round."
"In the end, it's all about quality, not quantity." Tokoyami remarked, crossing his arms.
"Despite these results, you'll all be interning with pros. Got it?" Aizawa informed. "Even those of you who didn't get any offers. You already got to experience combat with real villains during the attack on the USJ facility. But it'll still be helpful to see pros at work. Up close and personal, in the field. Firsthand."
Momo nodded. "Ah, so this is why we will all need hero names."
"These hero names will likely be temporary, but take them seriously or-"
"You'll have hell to pay later!"
The door opened and most of the boy's faces brightened up as Midnight strutted into the classroom with her arms behind her head. "What you pick today could be your codename for life. You better be careful or you'll be stuck with something utterly indecent."
"Yeah. She's got a good point. Midnight is going to have final approval over your names. It's not my forte." Aizawa then picked up his sleeping bag and slightly shivered at remembering how his hero name was picked. "The name you give yourself is important. It helps reinforce your image and shows what kind of hero you wanna be in the future. A codename tells people exactly what you represent. Take "All Might" for example."
'All Might…' Izuku gulped as Bakugo handed him some whiteboards before he took one and passed the others to Mineta. 'I'll need a hero name that embodies the kind of hero I want to be…'
"Alright, everyone, you have 15 minutes to come up with your names." Midnight announced before winking at the students. "Don't disappoint me."
Kyouka stared at her whiteboard as she held up a marker with her earphone jack. 'Damn, this might be harder than I initially thought. Maybe Earphone Jack? That name doesn't sound half bad.'
It's a very safe choice to go for and she doubts that it would face any criticism. Also, it's the same name as her quirk so it's very easy and simple.
Kyouka then thought about it a little more and shook her head. 'No, that's way too lame and unoriginal. It wouldn't face any criticism, but nobody would be impressed either. I want to stand by Izuku as a hero and Earphone Jack isn't the one for that. It has to be somebody else, not her.' She then turned towards Izuku and saw him constantly writing down and erasing different names, obviously looking troubled. 'Looks like you're having trouble too. I wonder what names you're coming up with? But I know you'll choose a name that's worthy enough for a hero as amazing as you. If you gave yourself a hero name like Atlas, Apollo, or even Angel. Any of those names would be very fitting. Angel, huh…?'
She remembered when she and Izuku first met. How his hand felt when he helped her up from the ground. It was her first time ever having physical contact with her hero after watching him for 4 years at that point and she could recall the feeling perfectly. His hand felt so soft and caring like an angel from heaven. She felt like that hand could protect her from anything in the world and that she would love to hold onto it forever.
'Even though Izuku's an angel who can protect me from anything, I still want to do everything in my power to support him. Even if I can only provide the smallest beat to his sound, it's enough as long as I'm with him. Wait… I got it!' A smile formed on Kyouka's face before she grabbed the marker and began to write out her hero name on her whiteboard.
Kyouka finished writing down her hero name and stared at it, wanting to confirm with herself that this is the hero name she truly wants. She tried to imagine different heroes saying it on the field like All Might, Aizawa, Midnight, and Thirteen, and it sounded pretty good. She then imagined Izuku saying her hero name out loud and her smile grew as she put down her marker.
"Perfect…"
The 15 minutes were now up and Midnight gestured her hands towards the students. "Now, students, who among you wants to share?"
Kirishima's mouth went agape. 'We gotta present these?!'
'Great! Who's got the balls to go up first?!' Sero thought.
Aoyama stood up and smiled, preparing to present his hero name first before Kyouka stood up herself and cleared her throat. "I'll go first."
"Whoa, Kyouka, are you serious?" Izuku asked, not expecting this from his best friend before getting a simple nod from her.
He would've thought that she would present her name in between everyone else's. It seemed in character for her personality. But at the same time, he was very impressed to see her make such a bold decision with little to no hesitation.
Kyouka made her way to the podium, gripping her whiteboard. 'I'm proud of my hero name. I have absolutely nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed about. If people hate my name, then they can go fuck themselves.'
Kyouka showed off her whiteboard to the class and smiled proudly. "The Resonating Hero: Angelbeat."
Midnight clapped, giving a bright smile. "Beautiful! A very melodic name! Everyone, I hope you present better names than this one!"
"Angelbeat? Sounds kinda girly for you." Kaminari commented but was met with a glare from Kyouka and someone else nearby for a split second before he sunk into his seat as he began to mumble. "Why did I feel two glares on me…?"
Ashido teared up a little before wiping said tears. "Aw, that show broke my heart to pieces."
'What do you think of my hero name, Izuku? I know you couldn't care less, but is this a name worthy enough to stand by your side?' Kyouka thought to herself, glancing at Izuku who was smiling brightly at her before she sighed in relief. 'I'll take that as a yes.'
Kyouka then made her way back to her seat as Aoyama ran a comb through his hair. "Not a bad name, mademoiselle. But now, for the moment you've all been waiting fo-"
"I'll go next." Izuku suddenly announced, raising his hand high.
"Okay, Jirou going up first is one thing, but you too, Midoriya?" Sero asked, leaning forward.
Kirishima crossed his arms, nodding in approval. "These two are so manly."
Izuku stood up, everyone's eyes on him in surprise as he made his way to the podium. 'I can't believe I'm going up second. My original plan was to wait until other people presented their names, or near the end, but seeing Kyouka go up first kind of lit a small fire in me.' A small smile formed on his face. 'I blame her for making me go up this early.'
Izuku gulped and stood up, standing behind the podium before showing his whiteboard off to everyone. "Here's my hero name."
Everyone in class, including Kyouka, gave him a blank stare as soon as they saw his hero name and crickets were starting to be heard, making Izuku start to internally panic. 'Everyone hates it! I didn't think it was that bad!'
Ochako did her best to not physically cringe as she forced a smile. "Um, Dekiru… N-Nice name…"
Bakugo simply sighed in pure disappointment, really telling Izuku it was horrible, considering he's never seen Bakugo disappointed like this after all of his years of knowing him. Even if Izuku had chosen a half-decent name, Bakugo would probably scoff or something. That seemed more Bakugo-like.
Kyouka was giving him a worried look that was saying, "Do you really want that name, Izuku?"
Midnight walked over to Izuku and shook her head. "I'm sorry, but I don't think 'All Might Junior' is the way you want to go."
"Huh? That's not the name I picked." Izuku said before looking at the whiteboard and saw 'All Might Junior' written on it as he widened his eyes. "W-Wait, that was a mistake! I only wrote that on the back as a throwaway name! I forgot to erase it!" He then turned his whiteboard around and sighed. "Sorry, this is my real hero name."
Kyouka raised an eyebrow in surprise when she saw that 'Izuku' was written on her hero's whiteboard. It definitely isn't bad and is a million times better than 'All Might Junior'. However, she was curious as to why he chose his first name for his hero name. Knowing Izuku, he must've put some thought into it before coming to that decision.
"Your name, huh? Is that what you want, Midoriya?" Midnight asked.
Izuku nodded, looking at Kyouka. "It is. I know I had a plethora of options before me and they were probably so much better than just my name. But when I was still just plain old Izuku Midoriya before my quirk had awakened, someone believed in my dream to become a hero and gave me their full support. I want to always remember that no matter what happens, no matter how strong I become, no matter how hard times may get, I will always be Izuku at the end of the day. I don't ever want to forget where I started and I want to honor that person the best way I could think of."
Bakugo scoffed, which is a much more normal reaction for him while Ochako sighed in relief and gave a thumbs up.
Kyouka gave a wide smile as she stared at Izuku with pure admiration. 'I was a little confused by Izuku's decision to choose his first name, but hearing his explanation makes it perfect now. I couldn't imagine a better honor than being one of the reasons he chose that for his hero name. I'll continue to support Izuku Midoriya and Izuku the hero for as long as humanly possible as both Kyouka Jirou and Angelbeat.'
"Ooh, that speech has got me feeling all tingly." Midnight said, her body wriggling around as the entire class gave her a weird look.
'It's making her tingly?'
Izuku awkwardly stepped away from Midnight and sat back down in his seat before turning to Kyouka. "So, how cheesy was I sounding up there?"
"Very cheesy. But, it was amazing." Kyouka replied before holding her hand out. "I'm looking forward to working with you, Izuku."
Izuku smiled and shook her hand. "Me too, Angelbeat."
Aoyama stood up and finally got to present his name to the class, but Kyouka was completely ignoring him and everyone else that presented their names as she stayed in her own little fantasy world with the two heroes, Angelbeat and Izuku working together side by side.
It was now lunchtime and Kaminari played around with Ojiro's tail while looking through his list of agencies to choose from. "Man, it's kinda strange some of the strongest members of our class chose their first names."
"Aren't you forgetting someone, moron?!" Bakugo asked, grinding his teeth as he turned towards Kaminari.
"Ch-Chill out, dude! I said some of the strongest, not top three or anything!" Kaminari defended himself as he covered his face with Ojiro's tail, but that didn't stop Bakugo from continuing to look at him with the intent to kill.
"Well, at least Midoriya gave us a reason for picking his first name. Iida and Todoroki just picked their first name and didn't explain squat to us." Mineta remarked before pointing at the explosive boy. "Bakugo still hasn't picked out a hero name yet. All of his choices were flat out rejected by Midnight."
Bakugo threw his whiteboard at Mineta's face, breaking it on impact. "It's not my fault she has shit taste in hero names!"
Meanwhile, Izuku was absolutely overwhelmed by the number of choices before him as he flipped through the pages. "I still can't believe over 1,772 heroes want me to intern under them. It's unbelievable. I feel like I should pinch myself to confirm that this is real. Amazing heroes like Edgeshot, Yoroi Musha, Crust, Ryukyu, Hawks, and even Best Jeanist are willing to take me into their agencies. It's crazy to think that those heroes know I exist. Damn, interning with a pro like Mirko would be so amazing. It's bad she works as a solo hero and doesn't take in any sidekicks or interns for that matter."
Kaminari and Mineta slid to Izuku's side and nodded as if they were understanding of his frustrations before Kaminari placed a hand on Izuku's shoulder. "It truly is a shame."
"Imagine being able to witness those legs in person. It'd be amazing." Mineta commented, leaning on Izuku's legs.
Izuku smiled at Mineta. "I know right? Her legs are iconic to her image and the way she moves them is just perfect. Being able to witness them in action right in front of me sounds like an amazing opportunity."
"Those legs must be so silky smooth and her thighs are just-AHHH!"
Both Mineta and Kaminari had earphone jacks jammed into their ears before they fell onto the ground as Kyouka's face was red from both anger and embarrassment that they were talking about Mirko's legs to Izuku. But she was relieved that Izuku didn't catch on to what those two actually meant, regarding her legs and she was also a little relieved that she isn't available to intern under so Izuku wouldn't have to be with those legs. 'These damn sexy heroes…'
Kyouka was standing next to Izuku with her own list in hand and pushed the two boys over to the side with her feet as if they were trash on the floor. "Got any ideas on what agency you want to intern under yet, Izuku?"
Izuku shook his head, still staring at his list. "No, I feel like this is going to take me forever. Makes me wish I only had a limited amount of options like 10 or 5 so I can have a much easier time choosing. I've already ruled out a lot of agencies because their area of work doesn't suit how I move around with my quirk, so I wouldn't be much help at all." He then sighed and looked at his best friend. "What about you, Kyouka?"
Kyouka lightly slapped her list. "I'm out of luck too. I can't really think of an agency that would make great use of my recon abilities. I mean, I think any hero could find that useful, but I kinda want to stand out a little to prove myself, you know?"
"I get what you mean. I know we can have three picks for what agencies we can intern under, but I feel like the first pick is the most important one."
"Hey, how about I take a look at your list so I can help you narrow down some of your options?" Kyouka proposed. "You trust me to do that, right?"
"Of course I do. That's a great idea." Izuku said, handing over his list to Kyouka. "A lot of times, your intuition is better than mine so you'll probably make better choices than I could've."
"Alright, now let me take a look." Kyouka muttered, holding hers and Izuku's list side by side as she sat on her desk.
Kyouka then began to compare the heroes that sent her offers and the heroes that sent Izuku offers as her eyes darted between the two lists at lightning speed. Her goal was to find heroes that both sent her and Izuku offers, but of course, she didn't want to be totally selfish and screw over Izuku, so she also looked for heroes that she genuinely believed Izuku would love interning under.
She grabbed a pencil and began to circle the agencies that she personally approved of. 'Not that hero. Not that hero. Ugh, definitely not that hero. Yeah, Death Arms can go fuck off. Hmm, I don't know about that one. Maybe that hero. Nope. Okay. Alright, that's a solid choice. Ooh, I'm sure Izuku would love to intern under that hero.' She soon finished with her selections and then double checked the agencies she picked and gave a satisfied smile. 'Not bad, Kyouka. You just went through 1,772 hero agencies in a matter of a few minutes and the ones I circled have also sent me offers. The best part is, I'm sure Izuku would pick these on his own anyways.'
Kyouka a small bead of sweat that formed on her forehead and placed Izuku's list on his desk. "And done. Take a look and let me know if I did a good job or not. Not to toot my own horn or anything, but I think I did."
"Whoa, that's impressive Kyouka. You finished faster than I expected." Izuku praised as he went through his list, seeing the circled agencies. "Yeah, you did great. The agencies you circled are really good and either one of them would be amazing to work under."
"You know, it's a funny coincidence. All the agencies I circled sent me offers as well. So I took the opportunity to narrow down my options along with yours." Kyouka informed with a weak chuckle, looking to the side.
"Hm, interesting." Izuku mumbled, narrowing his eyes at the circled agencies. "Give me a moment to quickly review these agencies so I can make my three picks…"
"You know, Gang Orca would be perfect for you, Jirou." Momo interjected out of nowhere, walking towards the two friends while Izuku mumbled to himself about the agencies Kyouka circled. "Did he send you an offer?"
Kyouka widened her eyes and tightened her grip on her list as she held it close to her chest, trying to make sure Momo couldn't see it. "Unfortunately… he didn't. If he did, I would've picked his agency in a heartbeat."
"Is that so? I would think he would send you an offer, considering your quirk. I know you would've done a stellar job at that agency." Momo said, cupping her chin.
Actually, Gang Orca did send her an offer. Yes, working at his agency is an amazing opportunity and would probably benefit her, but he didn't send Izuku an offer. Maybe what she was doing was completely illogical and stupid, but she didn't want to dwell on it at all.
"How about you, Yaoyorozu? What agency are you going for?"
"I'll be interning under Uwabami. I'm excited to see what I can learn from her. I'm confident I'll improve as a hero from this experience."
"Uwabami, huh? Can't say Izuku or I got an offer from her."
"Yes, even Todoroki didn't get an offer from her."
"Wow, that's kind of surprising. But hey, if she wants you specifically then it must be a good opportunity."
Momo noticed Ochako walking towards them before whispering. "It looks like you and Midoriya want to discuss your internships alone, so I'll talk to Uraraka about her internship."
"Thanks, Yaoyorozu. You're a good wingman or wingwoman. Whatever floats your boat." Kyouka whispered back with a wink.
Momo sweatdropped. "I'm not so sure I want to be referred to as a wingman or wingwoman in general. Just a caring friend is fine for me."
Momo then walked towards Ochako and began to talk about internships with the other girl as Kyouka gave a small smile. 'Still gonna call her a wingman in my mind.'
"Hey, Kyouka, I have a question? Why does this agency have a star next to it?" Izuku asked, pointing to the agency he was talking about. "Is there something special about it?"
"Ah, that one? I drew a star next to it because I personally think it should be your number one pick. This hero's quirk may not be too complimentary towards yours, but the hero work he does and his attitude about heroes aligns with yours amazingly. He gives me that All Might-esque vibe from what I've seen from him online."
"You're not wrong. He's one of the most positive heroes out there. And he's in the top 10 so he probably has so much to teach. The number seven hero. The Shield Hero: Crust." Izuku said before smiling. "Yeah… I think I'll make this my number one pick."
"Crust, huh? Funny, I was thinking of picking his agency as well. So why don't we intern under that agency together?"
"Hm, his agency does a lot of work in the city and I'm sure your recon abilities would provide a lot of help. And we can work together to do small jobs like finding missing pets with you spotting them with your hearing and me using Full Cowling to go get them. It'll also work as great rescue practice. Does that sound good to you, Kyouka?"
Kyouka nodded. "Sounds perfect. We'll both make that our number one pick. Now for the next two picks."
Everything was going so smoothly for Kyouka right now as she and Izuku looked at the other agencies she circled. It seems like the universe is finally helping her out after giving her some mishaps here and there. She felt lucky in the first place that out of the 36 heroes that sent her offers, 27 of them sent Izuku offers. She did have to narrow down those offers to 7, but it all worked out just fine in the end.
"Hey Izuku, I'll go submit my form right now. Are you coming?" Kyouka asked as she stood by the door, her form in hand.
"I'll be right behind you, Kyouka. Just gotta give Iida a quick call to ask where he is. I didn't see him leave the classroom." Izuku said, pulling out his phone.
"I'm sure Iida is submitting his form right now." Ochako said, putting on her backpack. "Well, I'll wait for you two at the front gate, okay? Don't keep me and Iida waiting."
Kyouka had to admit that she was a little curious about Iida herself. When the day started, Iida ran past them in the rain and he seemed to be his usual self. However, she hadn't heard him talk all day and him choosing his first name like Izuku didn't seem too in character for him.
But she couldn't blame him after what happened to his brother. She saw on the news yesterday after having lunch with Izuku that he was attacked by the infamous Hero Killer. It scared her to think that there's a villain that specifically targets and murders heroes. She hoped that Izuku would never have to cross paths with this psycho. And if he did, she would hope that he would run away at first sight or at least get a pro to take care of him.
'He probably won't, but the chances of those two seeing each other is low.' Kyouka thought to herself before leaving the classroom. 'The agencies Izuku and I picked out aren't anywhere near Hosu so that shouldn't be an issue.'
Kyouka ran to the staff room as she imagined both her and Izuku working together on the field as heroes. Even if Crust's agency wasn't available, they both made the same second and third picks which were Edgeshot's and Kamui Woods' agencies. So it was inevitable for the two of them to intern together.
This caused a wide smile to form on her face, until suddenly All Might ran past her at full speed as Kyouka felt the wind hit her face and her earphone jacks flying back for a second before she looked behind herself. 'What the hell? Was that All Might? Why is he in such a rush? Probably something to do with Izuku or One For All. That's probably gonna delay Izuku a few minutes, but it's no big deal. I can wait.'
Kyouka then went back to making her way to the staff room, before soon entering and standing right next to Aizawa's desk, handing her form over to him. "Mr. Aizawa, I got my picks right here and ready."
"Already?" Aizawa asked, looking at the form. "You still have two days. You can't back out after submitting your form, you know."
"Yeah, but I'm fully certain of these picks. Especially the first one. It's got everything I want." Kyouka said with full confidence in her voice.
Aizawa sighed and put down the form. "Fine. Who am I to argue? Just don't make yourself regret these choices."
"I won't. And expect to see Izuku here soon." Kyouka said before leaving the staff room.
'Izuku and All Might are probably still talking. I wonder where they are.' Kyouka plugged her earphone jack into the wall and she could hear All Might nervously stammering, but she couldn't make out what he was saying. 'Sounds like they're in some random hallway. Makes sense I guess. I don't hear anybody else near them, so at least they're having a private conversation. But man, All Might sucks at trying to have private conversations. I doubt he thoroughly checked the area before talking to Izuku.'
Kyouka unplugged her earphone jack from the wall and soon made it to the hallway where Izuku and All Might were standing. She could see All Might shaking like crazy as if something happened and Izuku holding a small slip of paper. "Izuku, I submitted my form. Now, let's get yours submitted ASAP. By the way, should I ask what's going on with All Might?"
Izuku avoided eye contact with his best friend, looking like he betrayed her. "I'm so sorry, Kyouka… But I don't think I'll be submitting my form…"
Kyouka blinked and swallowed. "Wh-What did you say, Izuku? You're not submitting your form?"
"Oh, crap... Well, I'll be off now, young Midoriya! Good luck with your internship!" All Might exclaimed before dashing away as fast as he could, trying to get as far away from Kyouka as possible.
'I made a mistake! I made a huge mistake! Forgive me, young Jirou!'
"I'm sorry, but All Might just told me that I received an offer from a hero whose name is Gran Torino…" Izuku explained, rubbing the back of his neck as he held up the slip of paper. "He knows about One For All and he was All Might's homeroom teacher back then. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I can't pass this up. He could seriously help me improve One For All better than any pro can now, other than All Might. I'm so sorry for having you narrow down my options only for me to throw all that away and not being able to intern at the same agency as you. Again, I'm so sorry, Kyouka. I hope you're not mad at me."
Izuku felt Kyouka's hand on his back and turned to see her softly smiling at him. "Hey, I could never be mad at you for picking the best option available for you. You didn't have to apologize four times or at all for that matter. If anything, I'm happy you found a hero that knows about One For All and could help you improve. You deserve it."
Izuku felt himself tearing up at Kyouka's understanding. "Thank you, Kyouka. I promise that I'll make the most out of my internship."
"I know you will." Kyouka said, taking her hand off of her hero's back. "Hey, I'm going to head to the bathroom. Submit that paper to Aizawa and meet me at the lockers when you're done."
"Yeah, I'll see you soon." Izuku said, wiping his tears before making his way to the staff room.
Kyouka then entered a nearby bathroom and made sure it was empty before closing her eyes.
It was true that she wasn't the slightest bit mad or disappointed at Izuku for choosing to intern under this Gran Torino guy instead of the heroes both she and Izuku picked. However, she wanted to target all of her anger at someone and she knew just who that someone could be.
She had two reasons to be mad at this person. One, she's now stuck with her picks and can't take them back. And two, because of him she won't be with Izuku at all during her weeklong internship.
Kyouka suddenly kicked the wall, smashing a small hole into it as she looked at the ceiling before screaming at the top of her lungs to release all of her anger at once.
"DAMMIT, ALL MIGHT!"
A/N
And that's chapter 46 done! You know, I really gotta stop procrastinating. But I will say I didn't start this chapter until I decided on Izuku's hero name.
Now I'll confess, I've never seen Angel Beats, but I have heard about it and apparently it's very sad. But I swear that I didn't come up with Kyouka's hero name from that show. I didn't make the connection til someone pointed it out to me.
I also may or not have insulted Kyouka by saying Uwabami doesn't want her, but I'm an asshole, okay.
Now I know some of you hate that I chose 'Izuku' as Izuku's hero name and think it's boring and unoriginal, but I personally really like it. Was very close to choosing Apollo, but talking to my beta reader solidified my decision.
By the way, I feel like I have to humbly ask for you manga readers to not say much, okay? Don't want to ruin anything for the other readers.
Now onto the reviews
Cyber-RK18: Now to wait 100+ chapters for the confession.
Ability King KK: I would assume Inko would get all giddy about it. And choosing hero names are the bane of my existence lol.
Lockheart25: Only took him like 40 chapters.
LincolnRonnie94: She probably will… Fuck I'm dead.
Shisarakage: About Kyouka going to Hosu… Sorry.
papaprep: Ew! Cooties!
Draconis678: But how long will it take him to say it out loud?
ThePhenoix11: I mean, Bakugo's bad, but I wouldn't say he's irredeemable. At least he's not a mass murderer or anything.
Dragon storm: I did give Mirko a little mention here.
k wolf omega: Just keep doing your best with writing and you'll be sure to get there. I still consider my writing crap.
Razinski: Thank you very much, I hope you'll enjoy more.
Well, that's it for the reviews!
That's the end of this chapter! Please feel free to leave a review!
