Four years later
Lord Harrison Potter-Black, Consort Gaunt-Prince-Slytherin, was ensconced on a comfortable couch, wrapped in a silky soft, emerald green blanket, waiting for the two loves of his life. His twins, Moira Lily and Hyperion Serpens were with their godparents and their partners for the weekend since Harrison was pregnant again, and due to lay his eggs at any time. While he waited, he mused on the events that had come to pass since Narcissa announced his pregnancy four years prior.
Harrison had carried the eggs for six months, which strained the three men since they were not allowed sex after the first two months. Once the eggs were laid, they had sat on special pedestals that kept them surrounded in their parents' magic for a further three months. Hatched just after Mabon, there was much reason for celebration and thankfulness. The children weren't snakes in any way, simply children that hatched from eggs. Each parent had picked two godparents, and the six were then assigned, three to each child. Thomas selected Blaise and Theo as thanks for their assistance in enlightening Harrison, and bringing the three men together. Severus chose Draco and Harrison's sister, Hermione, saying he wanted to ensure someone with sense was a part of the group. Harrison picked Neville and Luna because they were his truest friends. Hermione, Neville, and Theo served for Moira, while Luna, Draco, and Blaise were for Hyperion.
Nagini and Alistair had finally settled their differences and mated. Harrison and Thomas were convinced all their arguments were really just unresolved snakey-sexual tension, and privately shared several laughs about the change in situation. It was even better when Nagini laid her first clutch of three eggs and produced three magical hybrid snakes which quickly became familiars to Severus, Moira, and Hyperion. Moira and Hyperion were born parselmouths, much to Thomas and Harrison's delight, and Severus had been gifted parseltongue by Lady Magic at the rites for Yule on their first anniversary.
Neville and Luna were the first after Harrison to bond. Their ceremony was on Ostara, a nod to Neville's love of plants, as well as to take advantage of all the blessings of renewal (and possible fertility) the holiday offered. Blaise and Theo were next on Beltane. Though they weren't gifted with fertility themselves, both men wanted children and had spearheaded the new popularity of adoption, with which Harrison had helped.
Draco and Seamus had bonded the year after, much to the projected dismay (and hidden delight) of Lord Malfoy. Lucius was pleased to see that the prejudices of his father, spurred by the madness of his Lord, were finally falling away. Seamus had a hard time getting to know the Malfoy Patriarch, but the two had finally developed a cordial relationship. Especially after Seamus had managed to perfect spells to turn water into alcohol, and began running a pub that served all sorts of alcohol, from his own creations to rare and vintage offerings.
Hermione and Dean's relationship also lasted, and the two had bonded just a year ago. Hermione was working her way through the ranks of the ministry in the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures while Dean was a marketing consultant for several Quidditch teams. He traveled a bit, and Hermione still didn't love the game, but they were making it work.
Theo, Blaise, and Draco were also working in the Ministry, like Hermione and Harrison. And quiet, unassuming Theo was currently the Senior Undersecretary to the Minister, and being touted as the next minister!
Harrison and Julius Snape had been named co-heads of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement Division of Child Welfare. They had revolutionized the introduction of muggleborns into Wizarding society, and more children were brought into the wizarding world earlier. The group at the ministry had also begun spreading the word about squibs being the cause of "muggleborns," so fewer squibs were being kicked out of wizarding society. The rate of "muggleborns" was decreasing steadily, and Harrison and Julius were quite in demand as speakers for numerous committees in several other countries who were looking to emulate the British Child Welfare system.
Thomas had thrived as the headmaster of Hogwarts. Though he wasn't actively teaching, he was enjoying every single day. He brought Hogwarts back to the top of worldwide wizarding education. The castle was full again, housing over a thousand students, wizard, squib, and creature. Houses still existed, but the animosity between them was significantly less when he implemented class tracks based on power level. There was little in the way of discrimination based on power, because even the squib track was able to actively participate in magical output. Many of the squibs were showing great prowess in potions, runes, and arithmancy, and some had determined a specific type of casted magic that they were able to perform. Classes had been shifted to nine-week rotations rather than terms to allow students who progress faster or slower to move at their own pace. Thomas hired more teachers to account for the different tracks, and opened the doors of Hogwarts to day students who floo'ed in each day, rather than participating in the boarding school aspect. He also introduced adult classes for those who weren't able to attend Hogwarts or who wanted to take OWLs or NEWTs that had previously not been offered, or retake any they had missed, or not done as well as they would have liked.
Remus, Sirius, Neville, and Luna were also teaching at Hogwarts. Neville took over the advanced Herbology track for Professor Sprout when she retired, Remus took over History for Professor Binns who was finally able to move on, and Trelawny had fallen down the stairs in a drunken stupor and was replaced by Luna. Sirius hadn't taken a specific class, but filled in for other teachers when they were sick or needed to be out, oversaw detentions, and supervised a couple of clubs - one focused on non-harmful pranking, and one on dueling techniques for students planning to go into the aurors. All four were excited by the changes occurring in the school, and proud to see Hogwarts once-great standing returning.
Wizarding society was moving away from creature and blood stigma thanks to Lucius' work in the Wizengamot and Severus' advances in potions. The potion master had been able to create a potion that didn't actively poison the werewolves like the wolfsbane, but allowed them to keep their minds and eased the transformation, making it more like an animagus shift. It was still ruled by the moon, but was much less expensive, and widely regarded as Severus' crowning achievement. He also created a blood-substitute potion that allowed vampires to feed much less often on human blood. Lucius spearheaded efforts to reduce or remove restrictions on creature races, and assisted in getting them medical help and safe places to go for food or transformations, like warded rooms for werewolf transformations or blood banks and donor bars for vampires.
Dumbledore's name had been dragged through the mud after his death. He was now known for nearly destroying wizarding society via false ideas on cultural inclusion and blood supremacy rather than defeating Grindelwald. His name was synonymous with prejudice and close-mindedness, and his legacy was finally breaking.
And just a few days previously, Harrison received a letter from Ginny Weasley apologizing for her behavior and what she and Ron did to him at Hogwarts. She knew Ron's escape and attack on them wasn't her fault, and she knew nothing of it until after it occurred, but she apologized for Ron about that, too. She promised to leave him alone now that she was released, and was planning on going to America for a fresh start.
The floo flared and Thomas stepped out followed by Severus. They sat beside their pregnant love, and he smiled, enjoying the feeling of being wrapped in their protective magic. He had never anticipated his life would turn out like it had, but he was happy. And it was all because of an attitude adjustment that occurred due to a simple P.S.
