Los Angeles, California
"So," Emmett says, glancing down the table. The six of us are gathered outside for lunch, and I have to say, it feels amazing. Even though we're only in the yard, it's nice to breathe some fresh air.
Of course, the air in LA is pretty polluted, but still.
"What's the plan?" I look up at Emmett to see he's looking at Edward. I turn to look at him as well.
He swallows the bite of his sandwich and sighs. "Finish my masters as best I can, I guess," he grunts, shrugging one shoulder. Rose shakes her head.
"Fuck, I'd be pissed if I'd been ripped out of my program like that," she mutters.
"Yeah, it's been rough." He sounds upset, not at all the lighthearted guy I've been getting to know the past few days. I frown and snag a potato chip from his plate. It's massive, and I shove it in my mouth, my cheeks stretching around it. He glances at me, and when he sees my cheeks puffed out, he shifts in his chair, his hand brushing over his shorts. I grin and kick him lightly under the table. That perv is getting turned on by me eating chips. I love it. He catches my grin, and he chuckles quietly, shaking his head and looking back down at his plate. He's smiling now, and I lean back, satisfied.
"How are your parents feeling about you skipping over Chicago?" Jasper asks.
"Dad understood. Mom is…" Edward pauses, frowning slightly. Alice smirks.
"Mom's worried about her little boy," she coos at him. I snicker and feel his leg kick at me in response. I love how playful he is. I want to mount him here in front of our friends.
I glance up to see Alice watching me, and I feel myself sober up. I feel awkward flirting with her brother in front of her. She offers me a smile, and I feel my shoulders relax slightly.
"I'll have to call them soon," Edward murmurs, still thinking about his parents. I've never met Dr. and Mrs. Cullen, but I've heard them on calls with Alice. They sound nice enough, though their wealth intimidates the hell out of me. Alice doesn't flaunt the wealth she comes from, nor for that matter, does Edward. Both of them are down-to-earth and so casual it's often easy to forget they want for nothing.
We finish lunch, chatting about school. Edward has barely heard anything from his school, which I know is stressing him out. I've finally heard from some professors, as has most of the house. Our instructions are generally the same; do some reading, keep in touch.
It feels pointless, but if it will get me to graduation, then fine.
"Is anyone up for some yoga?" Rose asks, glancing around at all of us. Alice, Jasper, and Emmett all nod, and I look at Edward, surprised to see him nodding as well. Edward stretching? I'm only going to do yoga so I can check him out as he stretches.
Everyone turns to me, and Edward must be able to read my mind because he smirks.
"I'm in," I say, looking at Rose. I turn back to Edward and smirk back at him. He leans down near my ear, and his sudden proximity makes me dizzy. His scruff brushes against my neck, tickling and sending shock waves straight to my clit at the same time. I can feel him smile against my neck as he whispers, "game on."
