Before you read this, i haven't had time to update this fic because of school work and final exams and all that BS. Though I managed to make 2 versions of chapter 3 before i had to focus on school. This version being posted because I don't want to leave you guys thinking I abandoned this fic. It's not a complete chapter, though, because for some reason most of the dudes at the re zero fanfiction server didn't like the idea of putting subaru in other people's places in history, (replace audie murphy with subaru). I didn't want the 3,300+ words I wrote to go to waste, so, here's the original version of chapter 3, and I'll post the new version of chapter 3 whenever I can. (Hint, I wrote 2,000 words for the new version so far)

I feel like I could do better, like "subaru meets big chungus and his homies", I actually put some effort into that oneshot lmao.
This is not "canon" to the entire story, the next chapter (the real chapter 3) will be about the cast learning about Bismarck and his/her last stand on her final battle. Because why not lmao. Then I'll write about nuclear bombs I guess, until then, thanks for reading!
All right, sorry for the long delay and the somewhat short chapter, but now I'm aiming to have more reactions in this fic than the standard script-style writing of the previous chapter. I'll probably go back to rewrite them but until then, enjoy chapter 3!
Video the cast will be reacting to in this chapter: "Audie Murphy, the man who held off 6 tanks, by Yarnhub". Only in this chapter we'll be putting Subaru in Audie's place, as an "alternate universe" sort of thing. Wonder how that's going to go, well here we go.
I'll take a look at the reviews and see what next I could make the cast react to.
After the short break, everyone got back onto their seats. Subaru sleeping like a sleeping beauty, while almost everyone glanced at him with a look of admiration and wonder. How did he still smile in their faces despite bearing the weight of his own deaths and the failed loops? At least the Emilia camp knew that they couldn't let Subaru be on his own if he's suffering tremendous loss. They didn't know what would happen to them if Subaru chose to throw away his life to try and bring back the ones he lost, would the world go on without him or would reset and they disappear?
But, you can't stop a man who's determined to die for the ones he loves. However, now that everyone knows about Subaru's return by death (how hasn't the witch of envy intervened? Oh yea, the warden told her to go fuck herself, lmao), Subaru would have a hard time throwing away his life. But, enough about that, Subaru is with them, everyone is safe, and they'll make extra sure of that if they ever get out of this little theater. At least it's peaceful and quiet here.
"Hey hey! Are we gonna watch more stuff from big bro's world?" Felt eagerly asked, excited to learn more about Subaru's homeworld.
"I wouldn't mind spending time here if it means learning everything there is to know about Subaru-kun." Rem shyly stated.
"Seriously, I do have to wonder about how the world is going after 18 years." Al commented, he remembers being transported to the other world like it was yesterday.
"As expected, Subaru always finds ways to amuse me." Priscilla waved her signature fan at herself.
"You dummy, why don't you just wake up already? Look, everyone is talking about you, you know that?" Emilia pouted at her knight, unaware of the fact he was a bodypillow to some of the women here.
"Is the warden preparing another story for us?" Otto asked.
"Yes, just gimme a minute here and I'll pull it up."
With that response, the cast patiently waited, until they saw the warden's search history, or more specifically, a tab he forgot to close, showing subaru fucking the witch of sloth in explicit detail. It was only for a split second, but mostly everyone saw that cursed image.
"Warden-sama? What was that just now?" Crusch glared at the screen.
"Oi oi oi! What was cap'n doin' there!" Garfiel was not ready to see those images.
"Subaru-kun... doing the unthinkable with a witch..." Rem became catatonic.
"Eheheh... Subaruuuu you idiot!" Emilia glared at Subaru and crushed his hand.
"You guys saw nothing, absolutely nothing!" The warden snapped his fingers, and the cast found their memories erased from 1 minute ago, not that much of a memory loss, but just enough to the point the warden could discreetly hide his search history. What, even supernatural beings got to entertain themselves once in a while.
"As I was saying, I'm looking through what you guys should see.. but have you heard of alternate universes?"
"I heard Betty's Subaru say something like that, I asked him what it meant, it means parallel universes like ours, but with different things going on. There's even a theory where trillions of these universes exist alongside each other, each very different by even the smallest detail, I suppose." Beatrice commented.
"So you mean there could be another Julius like me, but he's not the Greatest Knight and instead a simple commoner?" Julius asked.
"I can't imagine Julius being a commoner, heh." Anastasia chuckled.
"Exactly, in another universe, Julius could be a commoner, Reinhard wouldn't be the Sword Saint, or even worse, Subaru never got transported to our world and he would have lived a normal life while everyone he would have known would either die or have their path in life changed." Beatrice said.
"A world without Subaru-kun... No, he's right here, there's no need to worry about him leaving us behind." Rem assured herself.
"Is the story you're going to show us involving alternate universes?" Crusch asked.
"You're a sharp one, but yes, there is this one story in Subaru's homeworld, a story about Audie Murphy. Only in this case, your Subaru is in Audie's place."
"Audie Murphy... he must be a well-known individual if he has his own story." Julius stated.
"And you say in another universe, Subaru is in Audie's place?" Reinhard asked.
"Wonder what kind of things Subaru-kun did in that universe." Rem wondered
"If Beatrice-chan is telling the truth, then there are trillions of those universes, meaning it would take forever to look through every single one of them." Emilia said.
"I'm always correct, I suppose!" Beatrice defended herself.
"Though I wouldn't mind sitting here and watching my contractor's actions in other universes, I suppose." Beatrice meekly stated.
"Subaru, what kind of achievements did your other selves get?" Crusch asked while gently looking at him.
"Yea, but in the original world, Audie Murphy was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions in January 1945. In another universe, Subaru fought in world war 2, born as an American citizen, and he takes Audie's achievements."
"Can we see what Subaru did?" Petra asked.
"Just wait for a little longer, Petra-chan." Frederica told the little girl.
"Ooh, I think it's loading now." Rem said as she saw the screen load up something.
So, everyone made themselves comfortable, and prepared themselves to glimpse at another universe.
"It's January the 26th, 1945. Just after 2:00PM." American soldiers are seeing rushing in and taking cover behind a tank.
"The newly appointed company commander, Natsuki Subaru, and more than three dozen American GIs, lay down on the snow covered ground near the town of Holtzwihr in Alsace, France." Subaru is seen kneeling down on the ground while ordering his troops to get down.
Now that surprised most of the people here, Subaru, leading troops to battle? That's something new you learn every day.
"Subaru-kyun, a commander? Not gonnya lie, that seems unlikely." Felix voiced his opinion.
"It in an alternate universe, and Subaru is now a commander for troops." Crusch stated. She found herself giddy at seeing her crush actually take charge and lead troops to battle.
"What's Subaru-kun and the others doing there?" Rem asked, recognizing the men's guns and uniforms.
"If I remember correctly, they're trying to take back France from the Germans. The Germans wanted to expand their territory, which started World War 2 in the first place, I think."
"Tch, fighting over land, of course commoners would love to fight over something like land." Priscilla scoffed.
"Didn't the warden say world war 2 was the bloodiest war in Subaru's world's history?" Otto asked.
"He did say it was the worst war ever fought.. why do they fight over territories? But surely there are more reasons over why world war 2 was fought for so long." Emilia mused, not understanding why they'd go to such lengths over territory.
"In the distance, thundering booms from the German artillery are followed by eerie hissing and deafening concussions as incoming shells pulverize the ground sending shrapnel and frozen earth hurtling through the air." American soldiers are shown running through the snowy forest, trying to avoid the incoming shells while shooting at the enemy.
"Tasked with holding an important roadway, unbeknownst to Subaru and crew, their reinforcements have been delayed, indefinitely. They're on their own, and things are about to go from bad to worse." Subaru is seen laying down on the snowy ground along with his men, a lone tank is seen next to them, their only heavy hitter.
Fearing for her hero's safety, Rem held Subaru's hand, feeling better in the process. At least this is a glimpse into an alternate universe, but it doesn't make it any less scarier for Rem.
"Their reinforcements sure are taking their sweet fricking time!" Felt yelled her frustrations.
"What's gonna happen nooow?" Roswaal mused.
"With reinforcements taking their time, it doesn't seem like a winnable situation for Barusu." Ram commented, sure, she'd grown to appreciate Barusu, but she's telling the truth here.
"Subaru always found a way out of situations. I'm sure he can weasel out of this predicament." Julius hoped that at least Subaru would come out okay from this.
"Good to see that they've got a tank with them, at least they can take cover behind it." Crusch commented as she spotted the tank next to the men.
The cast tried not panic at the thought of Subaru dying in battle, sure, they've got their Subaru, but watching another Subaru die felt like their Subaru was dying on screen. It hurt to think about.
"Through the smoke, Subaru spies more than 200 heavily armed German troops emerging from the woodline just a few hundred yards away, and they have plenty of tanks. The only armor the outnumbered and outgunned Americans have, is a potent but lightly armored M-10 tank destroyer" Subaru is seen looking through binoculars, and spotting the incoming German army, then the lone American light tank is seen.
"200 heavily armed troops!? Subaru-kun and his men are outnumbered!" Rem was worried about Subaru-kun's safety, sure, she could kill them all in her demon form, but Subaru is a normal guy, and that's what worried Rem.
"But, they've got a tank on their side, so not all hope is lost, right?" Emilia asked, she knows her knight will find a way out, or he's not Subaru Natsuki!
"I don't know... it would seem like a last stand situation, may Barusu rest in peace." Ram gave her blessing to Barusu.
"Nee-sama! Don't say Subaru-kun is gonna die!" Rem was astounded at her sister.
"Barusu is not one to give up so easily, even without that cursed power, he'll find a way out of that situation." Ram scoffed, knowing about Barusu's perseverance.
"Look at all those men, and their tanks, how do you think Subaru will deal with this?" Crusch mused.
"What's Subaru gonna do?" Petra asked Frederica.
"Don't worry... I'm sure Subaru will do something." Frederica patted Petra's soft hair.
"Hm..." Beatrice meanwhile paid attention to the tank, and noticed a lone machine gun on top of the tank.. putting two and two together... no, her contractor wouldn't dare!
"At just 19 years old, the native Texan already has two silver stars under his belt. Now, faced with lousy odds yet again, he'll have to lead men 5 and 10 years older than him in battle, and maybe to their deaths. Instead, ordering to withdraw to a defensive position to the rear, Murphy stays behind to radio in artillery support, but he's interrupted as the German tanks lay down punishment on the M-10."
Subaru is seen thinking hard about what's he gonna do, while his men are laying down next to him awaiting orders, Subaru orders them to the back, and is about to pick up the radio, but the M-10 is getting gangbanged by the German tanks

"Big bro's leading men older than him in battle, look, Reinhard!" Felt was excited, seeing her big bro leading men older than him. Now that's a leader!
"It would seem so, Felt-sama." Reinhard sighed, she'll never get tired of Subaru won't she? He won't be getting tired of learning more about Subaru too.
"And he's only 19 years old, quite young to be a military leader." Julius was impressed at that Subaru's actions. Sure, their Subaru was also amazing, but that Subaru was a military commander at a young age of 19.
"What's artillery?" Emilia asked.
"Big guns like the tanks, only they're stationary, and they can reach any target miles away."
"How do they even know where to strike their targets?" Otto asked.
"Maybe Subaru was about to do that, by picking up the radio and calling in that artillery support?" Frederica commented.
"Poor guys in the tank, I'm not sure if the light armor can take so much punishment!" Rem felt bad for the men in the tank. If she knows her stuff, light armor can't protect you for so long.
"It's not even a fair fight, the Germans truly have no honor." Crusch glared at the Germans for daring to hurt her Subaru.
With the American tank's imminent destruction, it would mean that Subaru and his men are left out in the open with the Germans advancing, that kept the cast on the edges of their seats.
"In a firestorm of muzzle flashes, whizzing shells and splintering trees, he watches in exasperation as the M-10 takes a direct hit and bursts into a fireball, but Subaru holds his ground, and manages to transmit coordinates to the artillery battery miles away." Subaru takes cover from the tank taking a direct hit, exploding and sending shrapnel everywhere, it would seem the American M-10 has been destroyed.
"Oh my goodness!" Emilia was shocked at that brutal death, who knows what it looks like inside the tank! Probably shredded cooked meat everywhere, these men didn't deserve to die that way.
"At least Subaru-kun is fine, Emilia-sama." Rem says, relieved that he didn't die in the explosion.
"Now he's communicating with the artillery team, and he says they're really far away from where Subaru is." Crusch commented, wondering how Subaru knew where he is, and how the artillery team knew where to aim and shoot.
"Big bro is so awesome! He's gonna pulverize those Germans!" Felt cheered for Subaru, nothing can possibly bring Subaru down!
"May the men in the tank rest in peace, they did the best they could in battle." Frederica blessed those poor souls.
"Then moments later, as if by divine intervention, the field between the beleaguered Americans and Germans erupts in a wave of explosions leaving it cratered and shrouded in smoke. But when the barrage stops and the haze clears, the Germans continue their advance once again." Subaru is seen communicating with the artillery batteries, then a couple seconds later, the Germans are pounded by incoming artillery shells, but after the barrage, they just keep advancing.
"They don't know when to give up!" Felt yelled, she thought that the barrage would be enough to kill them all, but no, not even the tanks have been destroyed!
"I mean, hitting someone precisely from miles away seems like a difficult achievement." Julius mused.
"The artillery got their coordinates, and fired where Betty's Subaru told them to fire at, I suppose." Beatrice commented.
"Those explosions was the artillery's actions?" Otto asked, bewildered at such destruction from a group seemingly far away from Subaru's position.
"Artillery has a long range, they can hit anyone at really long distances, in fact." Beatrice explained, she always loved learning and paying attention if it means she learned about her Subaru.
Beatrice, having figured out the lengths Subaru would go to, was worried about what he was gonna do there. She didn't dare show it though.
"You think the artilleries could bring down the white whale, nyan?" Felix asked, wondering if such destruction would be at least enough to hurt the whale.
"If enough of them shoot at once, then probably?" Crusch answered, she would have to learn more about artilleries, because they seem to be big machines of destruction. (She hasn't seen Heavy Gustav, lol)
And of course, the women were using Subaru as their bodypillow, seriously, stop crushing his hands you femme fatales!
"Popping up from his foxhole, Subaru unloads his M-1 carbine at them, then grabs the radio and climbs up onto the smoldering tank destroyer. Filled with high-explosive anti-tank shells, the badly damaged M-10 could detonate at any moment.. but it still has a lethal weapon that hasn't yet been destroyed, a heavy .50 caliber machine gun, mounted on an exposed position on top of the tank turret."
Subaru is seen climbing up on the burning inferno of the tank, getting on top of the turret, then taking a look at the M2 browning, contemplating on whether he should pick it up and do the action that would land him his place in war history.
"What's he gunna do? What's goin' on!" Garfiel asked, worried about where this was going.
"Subaru.. you big idiot, you're not gonna do what I think you're gonna do, I suppose!" Beatrice scolded her contractor.
The cast waited, even forgetting to breathe, as they awaited what Subaru is gonna do to get out alive.
"Now clutching the .50 cal's dual grips in his strong hands, Subaru depresses the thumb-activated trigger, sending streams of bullets screaming towards the Germans at nearly 3,000 feet per second." Subaru is seen fueled by adrenaline as he takes hold of the 50 cal machine gun, and makes his last stand against the Germans, if he's gonna die out here, he'll take as many of them as he can with him.
Emilia put a shaking hand on her mouth, amazed at the lengths Subaru would go to in order to protect those close to him, she hugged him tighter, proud at her knight for being so heroic.
"This is why I fell in love with you, Subaru-kun.. you always help others but think very little about your safety.. you should care about yourself more, my darling." Rem pouted at Subaru, then sighed, this is what she loves about Subaru, that he cares about others, but he should try to care about himself as well.
Paying attention, Crusch sighed, and understood that in battle, you need to use whatever you have in hand to win, even using the craziest of tactics, as long as it works, it's not stupid. She found herself liking Subaru more.. especially looking at Subaru defending his men from the Germans, now that's a real man.
"Bet the Germans weren't expecting that one, hah!" Felt cheered for Subaru, who's currently on screen yelling as he fired the 50 caliber machine gun at the Germans, it's not every day you use a big automatic gun firing bullets the size of your middle finger on human beings.
"It was quite convenient that the gun was even there in the first place." Anastasia mused, wondering what Subaru would have done had the gun not been there.
"That gun is almost as big as he is!" Petra was amazed at the gun's size, it was almost as big as Subaru was tall!
Looking at the bullet casings being expelled from the machine gun, Beatrice knew that those bullets could deal serious damage to a human being or a tank. And in a fully automatic machine gun... you just hold down the trigger, and deliver freedom to your enemies.
