I had another version of chapter 3, but I had doubts on whether that would be good for this fic, so I wrote an entirely new chapter where the cast learns about the Bismarck, aka a white whale made of steel and it took an entire naval fleet to bring it down. Multiple sources say that the Germans scuttled the ship, others say that the British destroyed the Bismarck, but what most of us can agree on, is that she (or he, according to the captain) went down with a bang.
I debated on what videos I should use for the cast to watch, but turns out, that documentary about James Cameron's visit to the Bismarck got deleted off youtube, so my only options that would be educational for the cast to watch would be a 14 minute long video or Sabaton's music video about the Bismarck. Frankly, I would have done the 14 minute long video, but I figured I would want to let the cast see live-action scenes of Bismarck while the warden explains what's going on. I'm sure some of you don't agree with this idea, but to those who actually like this fanfiction, enjoy reading about the cast seeing one of Earth's mighty yet outdated war machines.
I feel like I could have done better with this chapter, but I'm tired from schoolwork, and I know it's been too long since I updated, so, leave a review and see what I can do to fix up any mistakes you guys might spot, thanks.
As always, I don't own any of the materials used in this fic, this fic is merely for fun.
This is 6,000 words uwu. I wanna aim for 6,000 words or more, depends on how long the videos are.
Once they took a quick break, everyone came back to the theater and made themselves comfortable. The viewers wondered what other stories they'll learn about that self proclaimed knight's world. Didn't the Warden mention they had built floating battle fortresses or something like that?. Everyone already saw a picture of a floating battle fortress, but they wondered just how big it was, and how many men it could hold. Where would they even keep that many guys?
How could they live without using any mana whatsoever?
At first some were hesitant about learning more, but once they saw what his world could achieve in terms of technology or heartwarming stories like Franz Stigler sparing Charlie Brown, they were now excited to learn everything they could about their friend. He didn't take the time to speak to them and tell them stories about his world, only Beatrice got the honor to hear them. Even Anastasia thought that the knowledge from another world would make someone rich in this world if they knew how to use those ideas properly.
I think everyone in the room can agree that they would happily stay, the warden supplies them with food and drinks, rooms to rest in, and comfortable seats. They're basically living like royalty. No one knows what the warden wants to get out of showing them an entirely other world, but it's been entertaining so far, though they would like to learn more stories other than warfare, even if warfare in another world is entirely different, due to them not having any mana whatsoever. They just gather raw resources and make weapons out of them. Like splitting a bunch of atoms and releasing Reinhard's full power on cities-
"Say, you guys wanted to learn about the Bismarck, Germany's biggest battleship?"
"I did ask about it, what is the purpose of having a floating fortress like that?" Crusch spoke as she briefly remembered that grainy black and white photograph of the battleship. She couldn't make out too many details of it, so she was curious about what it looks like in color, and just how big it really is. Where did they get all the resources to build it?
"Ooh, battleships have really big guns on them?" Anastasia asked. She already knew that handguns existed, thanks to Beako's knowledge about Subaru's world, but to think that big guns are a thing, she wants to see them in action. Do they require mana to operate?. How are they made? Is there a limit to how big a gun can be? (Yes, the heavy gustav was the biggest gun ever)
"Do they just appear out of nowhere ready for battle or do they actually build it by hand?" Otto asked.
"Well, they actually do take the time to build them, they don't just appear with the help of mana. Floating fortresses, as you call them, are made solely for the purpose of showing off a nation's power through its navy, and to make things better, I've got a pretty entertaining video that represents what the Bismarck went through on her first operations. Think of battleships like your world's white whale, but they're made of steel and it takes a lot to bring one down."
"wait, her? Bismarck is a girl?" Petra asked, she found it hilarious that a literal war machine would be a girl.
"They like to refer to warships as females, it's just their custom, I suppose." Beatrice explained.
"Why do they call them females, Beako-chan?" Emilia wanted to know why they would refer to inanimate hunks of steel as females.
"You really ask so many questions, but I'll enlighten you. A ship's crew wants to feel safe and protected out at sea, so they refer to ships as females, as a way of the ship protecting them from danger, I suppose." Beatrice revealed some new info.
"I'm guessing that battleships don't have the largest guns ever, probably? What's the largest gun ever made?" The sword saint asked, never in all his years would he have thought that he would be learning more about the guy who saw him as Reinhard and not the sword saint. So he wanted to know almost everything about him, it's not every day you get to learn about a literal other world.
"Hell yes, the largest gun ever was the Schwerer Gustav, or the Heavy Gustav. Damn fucker took 2,800+ men to build the tracks to get it moving, also to protect it from air attacks, its size practically asks to be gangbanged by bombs. Its ammunition was fucking expensive, not to mention bigger than Garfiel's beast form. Though it guaranteed that whatever was being hit by it would be turned into the basic table of elements instantly, it literally was designed to punch through 28 feet of solid reinforced concrete and 4 feet of steel."
This new information astounded the viewers, what gun requires almost 3,000 men to operate?. How is the gustav's ammunition bigger than Garfiel's beast form, an already humongous size. Seriously, just how many people are there in Subaru's world to the point they can just get 3,000 men to help operate the largest, impractical gun ever.
Due to the warden's tone of voice when regarding to the heavy gustav, most of them realized that being the largest gun ever doesn't mean you're practical for war if your fire rate is 1 shell per 5 minutes
"How many of those were made?" Rem asked.
"Probably not too many, assuming they're really gigantic, meaning they probably used up a lot of metal and resources." Anastasia guessed. She's been paying attention to whatever she's been shown so far.
"3,000 men for handling just one gun.. yea, at least 4 guns were made, no more than that!" Felt would refuse to believe that these guns are mass produced.
"Actually, just two of the guns were ever made. Even Germany couldn't spend all its funds on the biggest guns."
Mostly everyone agreed, you couldn't invest in one weapon, you had to invest in other types of weapons. Like u-boats, the bane of merchant ships' existence.
"Anyway, just so you know, the Bismarck isn't even the biggest battleship, America's Iowa was the biggest one ever, with some of the largest, actually useful 16 inch naval guns ever mounted on a warship. Felt could probably fit in those gun barrels, and have a lot more space for more people to fit."
"What the fuck! Just how many men are needed to drive it!?" Felt exclaimed, she thought Bismarck was big enough, now there's a bigger battleship?
"Subaru-kun's world is scary, even for Rem." Rem felt a little afraid of visiting his homeworld, but if he were to go with her along with everybody else, maybe she won't feel so scared. Of course she would be scared if you found out your hero comes from a world where warfare is brutal and without honor.
"Last I checked, it needed around 2,600 men to drive it. Battleships are huge, and you need a lot of men to keep them in battle."
Almost 3,000 men... now they knew that battleships are like the white whale's size if they can hold so many men in one place. What is the role of each man on board? How can they feed every man serving on the ship?
None of the viewers would have learned about the possibility of making a floating battle fortress out of raw metal had the warden not brought them into the theater. Enough battleships and they might even bring down the white whale assuming they can spam enough high-explosive and armor-piercing shells. Who are we kidding, battleships can fling shells up to 20 miles or more, the white whale's going down lmao.
"Now, I'll load it up, and if any questions come up about what's going on, I'll answer them. Ok, ready? Here we go."
This is the third video they'll be watching about Subaru's world, though they were happy to learn about his world. Some were eager to see a battleship in action, while some were mildly entertained by the stories from another world. Overall, everyone's enjoying their time here.
A small dockyard appears, then 2 cars driving by, while a dog hurries to cross the street. A man speaks on the radio, but it's too garbled to hear him clearly, though for a second he clearly stated about a German battleship blowing up the British battlecruiser Hood, then it turns back to mumbling.
"Is he talking about the Bismarck when he says "German battleship?" Julius asked, the knight of knights was intrigued about warfare in another world.
"Yes, the Bismarck tore the Hood in half on their first encounter with each other, but once the Hood was destroyed, the Royal Navy was pissed about losing their pride and glory, so you can guess what happens next."
The cast had various reactions to this information, tearing something in half with ease meant that whatever did it, was powerful, and was not to be messed with.
"What are the differences between a battleship and a battlecruiser?" Emilia asked, now there's two new words that she learned today.
"Battlecruisers are older than battleships. B-cruisers are faster but are lightly armored, b-ships are just a bit slower but are heavily armored, to put their differences simply. Though they have nearly the same caliber guns, probably."
"So warfare technology is always evolving, the Bismarck must be an example of a brand-new war machine tearing apart an obsolete version of it." Crusch mused for a bit.
"What happened afterwards?" Otto asked.
"Maybe the Royal Navy was angered to the point they threw everything they've got at Bismarck?" Wilhelm asked, though he didn't think that was a good strategy to bring down a powerful enemy, unless you get really lucky.
"Surprisingly, you got it right. The Royal Navy did throw every single warship in their power at the Bismarck, and because if the Bismarck managed to reach its destination, well, it wouldn't have ended well for the Allies' efforts to end the war. So they needed to throw everything they've got, and bring the German battleship down. This is the story of how a single warship faced an entire naval fleet."
"Ooh... why does this remind me of Subaru facing an entirely hostile world by himself?" Mimi mused.
"And his only defense is coming back from the grave." Julius grit his teeth, he should have been concerned before when Wilhelm made a comment about looking into Subaru's eyes at the mansion, and seeing death and misery in them. How could a 17 year old have the eyes of a veteran soldier?
"Why by themselves? Wasn't there someone escorting them?" Emilia was worried for the men aboard the ships.
"Well, yes, heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen was escorting Bismarck, though the original plan was to have more ships escorting the Bismarck, but with Gneisenau blown up, the Tirpitz wasn't ready for battle yet, and Scharnhorst needed repairs after damaging her boiler rooms. Only ship that was ready for battle was the Prinz Eugen."
"Let me guess, they're also big battleships?" Felt asked, how did they get all the metal and resources to build 5 humongous warships, and how long did it take to build one of them?
"Wonder how it would've went if the plan went as originally planned." Rem commented
"It would have made it more difficult dealing with 5 ships instead of two of them, probably." Julius answered, thinking hard about the information he was given.
"Did the British manage to find the Germans?" Reinhard asked, even he was now interested about this story that he was just now learning, and his divine protections told him that it's all true.
"How the hell do you pronounce those names!" Felt exclaimed, she tried saying Eugen's name, but she could only say it as "Prince Yougen", which made Reinhard pat her head to encourage her to keep trying.
"Yea, the British found the German ships after around 2-3 days, which is why Eugen was ordered to steam ahead towards the destination, while Bismarck stayed back to fight off their pursuers."
If the video was supposed to show those scenes, now everyone wanted to see that battle happen before their eyes.
"Why does Bismarck remind me of Subaru, I suppose?" Beatrice thought to herself. She's seen how many times he has died under everyone's noses, she's seen his mentality that he didn't value his life, until the Witches of Sin told him that mindset was vile, and he should value his life a bit more. That's when she realized, that Subaru still smiled after dying so many times, his mind was just as heavily armored as a battleship. But even she worried about what would have happened if he died way too many times, would the armor crack under the numerous deaths and give in to insanity like Petelgeuse? A battleship can only take so much punishment, after all.
Beatrice worried for her contractor, but now she won't let him out of her sight, and she also trusted Subaru to value his life. Meanwhile Reinhard was casually using a divine protection to read Beako's thoughts, just because he was curious, but now he was worried about what an insane Subaru would be like after dying hundreds of times.
If only they knew about the IF stories, where it shows an insane Subaru doing unspeakable things.
1 minute timeskip cuz this section of the video is fucking boring and I don't feel like writing the entire thing, but if I have to, the characters were taking in the sight of the oceans in Subaru's world, the band setting things up on the small tugboat, and just how hilariously small the tugboat was.
The music kept building up, until the leading singer began, and the heavy metal hit everyone in the theater at full force, startling some of them, though they thought that this new sound was interesting.
"Other than this being just a bit too loud... is this one of their types of music? What an interesting type of sound there is." Crusch commented.
"Tch, even I think that it was too loud at first." Priscilla scoffed, how dare she have to hurt her ears?
The Royal Knights were watching the men on the screen begin banging their heads, they thought that banging their heads around like that would make them dizzy, but they were probably experienced enough to know how to headbang to the beat of the heavy metal.
They felt like this type of music belonged to a war machine, all this heavy metal and we could even build another Bismarck.
The men in the band were headbanging, as the heavy metal kept on going for around 20 more seconds, and the leading singer began the lyrics.
"From the mist, a shape, a ship, is taking form.. and the silence of the sea's about to drift into a storm!"
A quick shot of the Bismarck in the mist is seen, before the camera zooms out, and everyone sees just how eerily small the tugboat was compared to the Bismarck, the men on the tugboat were tiny compared to the battleship.
This sight left some of the viewers in shock, it really is a floating battle fortress!. This is the result of engineering and enough time to build something like it. They began discussing for a bit about the 1940s real life naval Death Star of its time.
"It really is as big as Roswaal's mansion!" Emilia exclaimed, she was expecting Bismarck to be a little bit smaller, but she didn't expect it to be this large!
"Is it just me, or is the tiny boat the same size as those guns?" Ricardo wowed at the 15 inch guns on the screen.
"We don't have massive bodies of water over in our world... how deep do they go anyway?" Frederica commented.
"Does the great waterfall not count as a body of water?" Crusch asked.
"That's a waterfall, we're talking about oceans, along with whatever the hell is lurking down there. To answer your question, they go down deep, really deep, like, 36,000 feet deep. The deepest shipwreck ever discovered lies at 21,000 feet, rest those brave men who faced off in a tiny American destroyer against heavy cruisers and the Yamato herself. Maybe I should let you know their story another time, probably."
Yet another story for the cast to think about, but the oceans going down to 36,000 feet!. Along with the warden implying that there's life down there... nope, whatever the fuck's down there, better stay down there.
"How small is a destroyer, like the tugboat on the screen? Of course they wouldn't last long." Julius commented, despite their bravery, it's suicide if you charge into war against enemies bigger than you.
"They're lightly armored, but they have high speed and fast-loading naval guns. 5 seconds to reload at the minimum. Battleships take around 30 seconds to reload."
If this is what warfare on the oceans is like, what's warfare like on land?
"There's so many ship types. Ok, what are the main types of warships just to keep things simple?" Anastasia wanted to know the types of warships for her curiosity.
"Sure, there's destroyers, light cruisers, heavy cruisers, battleships, and aircraft carriers. There are many more types but these are the more common ones."
"Aircraft carriers... you mean there are ships that can carry planes?!" Felt exclaimed, she learns more and more new things there longer she stays in this theater.
"Sign of power! Show of force! Raise the anchor, battleship's plotting its course!" The screen shows off the Bismarck's massive 15 inch guns, along with its secondary guns on her sides. She really is ready for battle.
A lookout is looking through binoculars and spots the HMS Hood in the distance, the captain gives orders to aim the guns at the Hood. The 15 inch guns creak and groan as they traverse to aim at the HMS Hood.
"How are they moving? How do they move such massive guns?" Priscilla demanded to know how they could move so smoothly despite being massive guns weighing 1,000 tons.
"Probably a lot of careful engineering and planning, I wonder." Rem tried to explain, but even she was stumped at how massive 1,000 ton guns could move so easily without the help of mana.
"Pride of a nation! A beast made of steel! Bismarck in motion, king of the ocean. He was made to rule the waves across the seven seas!."
Bismarck fires a full broadside at the British battlecruiser, the shells missing her by feet, though Bismarck fires again from her back guns. The camera follows a shell as it curves down onto HMS Hood, easily punching its way through her light armor, and promptly detonating every single shell in the turret's magazine, tearing the British battlecruiser in two with a huge explosion.
Everyone has their ears ringing from how tremendously loud the naval guns are, it takes a couple seconds for everyone to recover from the noise. Though most got a glimpse of Hood's shell storage, and how that one German shell blew up every single shell inside and tore the battlecruiser in two. This sight shocked the viewers, so this is what warfare on the oceans must be like.
"Fucking hell! Nobody told me they would be so loud!" Felt threw a fit, her ears felt like they were bleeding!
"Felt-chan! No using those words here!" Emilia scolded the rowdy royal candidate.
Reinhard luckily had a divine protection that made it so he's immune to tremendously loud noises, of course he would, the overpowered bastard.
Everyone recovered from having their ears ringing. Most of them were in awe at the Bismarck's power, how it easily tore the HMS Hood in two.
"So.. was that the Royal Navy's pride and glory? Their warship named Hood?" Rem was concerned for the men aboard the ship. It looked big enough to hold a lot of men, but she didn't know how many.
"That's the Hood. If you must know, only 3 men survived out of 1,500+ men on board."
Gasps were heard in the theater. The explosion probably took a lot of men's lives, but to think that only 3 men managed to survive the Hood's destruction. Talk about pure luck, they got to live to tell the tale about the time they faced the Bismarck and promptly got destroyed by a lucky shot.
"Why is Betty's Subaru's homeworld so... brutal. They have no mana, so they look for other ways to kill each other." Beatrice scoffed.
"To lead the warmachine! To rule the waves and lead the Kriegsmarine!" The HMS Prince of Wales returns fire at Bismarck as the camera follows a shell that misses the German battleship.
"The terror of the seas! The Bismarck and the Kriegsmarine!"
"Two thousand men and fifty thousand tons of steel set the course for the Atlantic with the allies on their heel!" The British aircraft carrier Ark Royal is seen on screen, and her Swordfish torpedo bombers are taking off from her, all set on finding the Bismarck and taking her down before she reached German occupied France.
"So many men packed into one place, who decided it was a good idea to have one ship face an entire army?" Ram scoffed.
"I mean, they probably have a lot of faith on Bismarck if they can confidently stay back and fight by themselves." Rem spoke.
"Firepower! Firefight! Battle stations keep the targets steady in sight!"
No one could see any naval guns on that new warship, only planes- lots of planes.
"I think that's an aircraft carrier, look at how many planes are on it!" Rem had her eyes lit up as she got to see an aircraft carrier for the first time.
"What are those planes carrying? Long metal tubes?" Petra pointed at what the planes were carrying.
"Hm.. we might just have to see next, Petra-chan." Frederica tried her hardest to think about what they might be for, but she couldn't figure out the purpose of those metal tubes. How could a bunch of old biplanes bring down a state of the art battleship?
Later, the Swordfish find the Bismarck, who promptly delivers heavy anti-air against the Swordfish bombers. The Swordfish release their torpedoes, but no matter how many torpedoes they threw at the Bismarck, she violently turned the best she could as she made sure that those torpedoes wouldn't hit her. Even with brand new, state of the art anti aircraft guns, she couldn't shoot down a single Swordfish because they were just too slow for the guns to actually land a hit.
"Hm.. they seem to be dropping those metal tubes into the ocean, what are they supposed to do?. Bismarck seems to be in a hurry violently turning like that to avoid those tubes." Julius thought hard about what those metal tubes are for.
"They're underwater missiles, or torpedoes, designed to destroy even the most heavily armored warships, I suppose." Beatrice explained.
"Wowie... look at how hard she's moving!" Mimi pointed at the screen as the German battleship creaked and groaned as she made hard turns left and right trying to avoid the torpedoes.
"Ha, they can't even shoot down a single plane." Priscilla was amused that a battleship couldn't bring down slow biplanes.
"You're right.. I wonder why they can't shoot one down." Julius wondered.
"Into formation, the hunt has begun! Death and damnation!"
Most of the people who felt close to Subaru winced at the mention of death, they didn't need to be reminded of how many times he's died under their watch.
Her luck ran out as a single torpedo hit her on the stern, promptly jamming her rudder. The pilot mouthed a "Finally!" as he saw a torpedo finally hit Bismarck on her stern.
As the water promptly erupted near the Bismarck's stern, everyone finally understood why the Bismarck would be turning so hard, even if they didn't understand the extent of the damage that one torpedo dealt to the German battleship.
"I think I know why she would be turning so hard, that looked like a huge explosion! Those metal tubes can explode!" Felt understood how torpedoes work.
"So many torpedoes thrown at Bismarck and only one managed to hit her." Julius commented,
"Who would have known that a battleship could move so elegantly despite being massive." Crusch kept her gaze on the screen as she wanted to know how Bismarck's story would end.
"The fleet is coming! He was made to rule the waves across the seven seas!"
Despite the Bismarck's repair team efforts, they couldn't fully repair the jammed rudder, so she was locked into turning in circles, leaving her vulnerable in the water.
"Ship unsteerable... We will fight to the last shell... Long live the Fuhrer." The Captain is heard giving his last message before the Royal Navy found the crippled Bismarck.
Everyone watched the battleship try her hardest to break out of turning in circles, but no matter what she did, she remained turning around in circles. That single torpedo exploded on the rudder as she was turning to avoid torpedoes and jammed the rudder, sealing the German battleship's fate.
"Who's the Fuhrer?" Crusch asked, though she had a feeling that the Fuhrer was someone important.
"I think the Fuhrer is the one in charge of Germany?" Anastasia guessed.
"Didn't the warden say that Germany started World War Two?" Julius asked, he found it saddening that they managed to fight two global wars, how many more did they fight?
"Now I know why she was in a hurry trying to avoid those tubes, look at the state she's in now." Crusch was concerned for the men aboard the Bismarck, the men's moods and morale went downhill once they realized they wouldn't be getting out of this alive.
"So many men fighting for a corrupt leader, how saddening.." Frederica mourned the men fighting in a war their leader started.
Bismarck's captain is seen carving the exact location of where they are right now on a locket.
"To lead the warmachine! To rule the waves and lead the Kriegsmarine!"
A British lookout spots the crippled Bismarck in the distance.
"The terror of the seas! The Bismarck and the Kriegsmarine!"
"FIRE!" The Bismarck's commander yelled into a telephone connected to the turrets. The turrets fired at the British light cruiser, though the light cruiser managed to land many hits on the German battleship, which was then left a burning wreck stuck turning in circles. Despite being lit ablaze, she refused to stop fighting.
Everyone was in awe at the fact Bismarck wouldn't stop firing all her operational guns despite being a burning wreck. She really was a war machine, who put up a fight despite overwhelming odds. Bismarck's captain delivered on his promise and will fight until all guns are destroyed or there's no more ammunition.
"How many bullets do they have! How are they not out of ammo!" Petra exclaimed, where did they store all their ammo?
"There's a lot of water around, why aren't they using it to put out the fires?" Reinhard wondered why they wouldn't yet put out the fire.
"I mean, everyone is in a hurry trying to destroy the ships firing at them, and a bunch of fires on the ship is the least of their worries right now." Crusch guessed.
The Bismarck's crew couldn't get a wink of sleep as they got harassed by British destroyers throughout the night, even more worsening the already burning wreck the Bismarck was left in. Every man on board was running on fumes as they manned every gun on the battleship. They tried to get their floatplane airborne, but the catapult was destroyed in the Bismarck's encounter with Hood and the Prince of Wales. The plane promptly got pushed overboard to prevent a fire hazard.
No one could imagine being harassed all night and denied sleep. The British really were pissed about losing their pride and glory to Bismarck.
"Do they have no honor? They're the ones who decided to send an obsolete battlecruiser to chase after a brand new battleship!" Felt exclaimed.
"The British saw the Hood as their pride, so of course they didn't think that they would easily lose her." Reinhard wondered.
"Why is there a plane there?" Petra asked.
"They seem to have been handing the pilot a lot of papers, they must have been important." Otto guessed.
They wondered why a battleship would carry a small plane like that. Though they assumed it must be important as they were handing the pilot a lot of documents and letters, along with the ship's war diary and footage of their encounter with HMS Hood and HMS Prince of Wales. Of course, none of it would reach Germany as the catapult was destroyed.
"Even I've got to feel sorry for the men sent on a suicide mission, of course they wouldn't last long facing an entire army by themselves." Ram voiced her opinion
"At the bottom of the ocean, in the depths of the abyss, they are bound by iron and blood! The flagship of the navy, the terror of the seas, his guns have gone silent at last!"
As morning broke, more British warships joined in the naval brawl. With the Bismarck stuck in turning in circles, she couldn't aim her guns properly. A cruiser predicted where the Bismarck would be headed, and promptly released more metal tubes into the ocean. These torpedoes promptly exploded on the Bismarck, worsening the damage.
Cue the guitarist performing a guitar solo for 20 seconds.
A German sailor is seen next to the wounded captain, who gives the sailor a locket with Bismarck's exact location. The young sailor then rushes away from the Bismarck's destroyed command center, and jumps into the water. Meanwhile on a British ship, they're watching the burning wreck of a battleship slowly capsize, and as hundreds of men plunge into the water or get on top of the battleship.
The claim about 2,000 men aboard the ship wasn't a lie.
"Oh my god! Look at how many men there are on the water!" Emilia was worried for the men floating on the ocean, even if they were trained to swim, she still worried about them drowning if they got exhausted.
"Please tell me that at least the British will have mercy and rescue the survivors..." Petra sobbed, she had enough of war and death, but she wanted to see that Bismarck's surviving sailors would live.
Mostly everyone in the theater felt they should give their respects to Bismarck's crew, who fought back the longest they could despite overwhelming odds.
"I feel like you must know this, but technically, Bismarck wasn't alone, there was a German submarine nearby, U-556, but 556's captain couldn't do anything to help because she was low on fuel and torpedoes. All the u-boat could do is watch as Germany's pride sank beneath the waves."
"Would it have made much of a difference now that Bismarck was heavily damaged and even if U-556 could help, what could two ships do to an entire naval fleet?" Frederica sighed, Subaru's world seemed like it was filled with death and misery, though she felt like it wasn't like that, that this world also had its happy moments.
"I wouldn't underestimate German submarines, they're the bane of most warships' existence. One minute later and your ship goes down because of undetected torpedoes."
"Are war submarines really so powerful?" Emilia wondered.
"Pride of a nation! A beast made of steel! Bismarck in motion! King of the ocean, he was made to rule the waves across the seven seas!"
Another shot of the capsizing Bismarck appears, survivors swimming away or on top of the sunk battleship.
"So much money and work, all destroyed in an instant." Anastasia didn't see the purpose of investing so much money if it's all gonna be lost in an instant if your battleship is destroyed.
"To lead the war machine! To rule the waves and lead the Kriegsmarine!"
Bismarck's turrets slipping out of their sockets and plunging into the ocean
"What's that falling out?" Rem wondered.
"I think those are the huge guns that are coming out of the ship." Otto guessed. Were they really so heavy that once Bismarck capsized, they slipped from their sockets?
"They look like entire buildings!" Felt was shocked at how big the guns really were, she wanted to know how they worked and where they kept their ammunition. How did they figure out to make guns bigger and bigger?.
"The terror of the seas! The Bismarck and the Kriegsmarine!"
The German sailors being rescued by a British cruiser.
"See Petra-chan? They're rescuing Bismarck's survivors." Frederica consoled the poor maid.
"Ahh.. I'm glad that the British had mercy on them, even if they lost Hood to Bismarck." Petra sniffled.
"To lead the war machine! To rule the waves and lead the Kriegsmarine!"
"The terror of the seas! Bismarck and the Kriegsmarine!"
"To lead the war machine! To rule the waves and lead the Kriegsmarine!"
"The terror of the seas! Bismarck and the Kriegsmarine!"
At the end, Bismarck put up a fight and sank with her guns blazing, while u-556 could only watch as her big brother sank.
Some were crying a bit over the thought of 2,000 men facing their deaths, the royal knights gave their respect to Bismarck's crew for not giving up until all their guns were put out of order. Who would have thought that battleships could take so much punishment before going down.
"We've seen them rescue the survivors.. but it still hurts to think that so many men lose their lives in wars like these." Julius sighed.
"Why did they think fighting alone was a good strategy? They should have had Prinz Eugen stay back and help." Crusch commented, she felt that they would have stood more of a chance if they had a heavy cruiser help out.
"Maybe there's a reason they ordered Eugen to keep going? So that they don't lose more ships to the British? Bismarck seemed like a tough opponent to defeat, look at how much it took to destroy her." Anastasia spoke.
"So you guys can properly pronounce Eugen's name but I can't?!" Felt threw a fit.
"But you just did." Reinhard congratulated Felt on her achievement.
"Ah.. I really did, heh!" Felt felt proud of her achievement.
"Will there be more war stories like these? Even if it hurts to hear them, they're still interesting nonetheless." Frederica asked.
"You guys wanna hear about the time a 100 men rose back from the grave and fought one last time in a last stand?"
"Yea... wait WHAT!?" Felt was shocked, she turned to Reinhard, who could detect lies, but found him to be shocked as well.
"It's a half-truth, half-lie.. there really were 100 men, but they didn't die, so why say that they came back from the dead?" Reinhard thought hard.
That information reminded them too much of Subaru, a dead man coming back from the grave every single time he dies, with infinite chances. Even Roswaal didn't figure out that Subaru needed to die to loop until he was taken to this theater.
"This is gooooooonna be interesting." Roswaal mused.
