Hello Everyone. So sorry it took me this long to publish a chapter I had prewritten. Anyway, I'm excited to grt this chapter out and start the next. Unfortunately I already have another great story forming in my head... I didn't triple proofread this so it might not be perfect. Please let me know if you find a bunch of spelling or grammar errors. That said, I just wanted to say, in previous chapters I mentioned Luke and Leia. Well my plot changed so Leia is not on the scene at the moment. I corrected this but just wanted to let you all know.
Chapter 3: Surprise!
Disclaimer: Disney and George Lucas own Star Wars. I don't. Thus, I don't make a cent off of this work. The only thing that is mine, is the plot and my original characters (OC). This goes for the rest of the chapters, too.
Vera had already blown off most of her steam. By this point she was really just annoyed. She pulled the three bulky crates with her order from the hallway into her room. Entering in the sequence, she shoved the lid off the first crate. Inside was a variety of paints. Vera pulled out cans of green, brown, navy blue, glow-in-the-dark sky blue (What in the world?), pink, purple, yellow, orange, white, gray, black, and about any other color of paint you could possibly think of (and a few more). The next crate held beautifully stained wood panels and a variety of stone tiles. The last crate was the smallest. It held a few picture frames, random decor, a set of curtains, and a note.
The note read as follows :
Dear Vera,
I included this crate so you could participate in the world challenge for the most creative interior design. Have fun!
Your loving sisters, Tetra and Dara Wolff (CEO of the Galaxy Painter's Shipping and supply).
Vera sighed.
/Did Tetra or Dara come up with the idea of sending me this?/
She pulled everything out of the crate and paused.
/Woah. It's Terrace who works with Dara, not Tetra. Tetra makes knives and armor./
Vera pushed at the bottom crate. She felt a very small square of material that was higher than the rest. She pressed hard on the square. The bottom panel shifted enough for Vera to pull it out. There at the bottom of the crate was a long wooden box covered in carvings. Vera sighed. She set the box on her table and shoved the false bottom back into the crate. She took all the empty crates down the hallway.
Vera stared at her reflection in the mirror. Her hair was tightly coiled into a bun. Her uniform was crisp and clean. Her gloves were on. Her boots were shined. And…
/I'm missing something. What is it?/
Vera spun in a full circle. She spotted her knife and necklace lying in the dresser. Quickly sliding the knife into her sleeve and putting on the necklace, she flew out the door and headed to the office where she would be working.
Vera slid her card through the slot next to the door. Its light turned green and the doors slid open with a long screech. Vera flinched.
/I am definitely going to fix those doors later./
The walls were plain gray. The floor was plain gray. The L-shaped desk was plain gray. The chair was plain gray. By this point, Vera was slightly shocked to see that the paperwork was white instead of gray.
The office was a good size. Behind the desk was a doorway leading to a room full of documents and another door to a small 'fresher.
One of the doors led back into the hall; the other Vera couldn't open. She has a sneaking suspicion that it led to Vader's office.
Sighing, she moved the heavy desk so she could see the last two doors.
She started organizing the paperwork.
/Good Old Palpatine is sooo gonna regret this./
Vader started at the door in front of him. He was desperately thinking of a way to avoid his secretary when he realised that Padme was coming down the hall. Unfortunately, he had a dilemma. Either he risk Padme laughing her head off at his reluctance or talk to Vera. He eventually decided to go with the second option.
The door to the hall slid open. And there was Vader. The office had definitely transformed. The walls were a light green with blue swirls. Vader could practically smell the fresh paint. The desk had been moved across the room. And of course, there was Vera glaring at his over the top of her - wait- glasses? Vera was wearing glasses?
"Lord Vader, how nice of you to drop in," Vera said it in the most driest tone possible, "two hours late."
Vader paused considering what to say to appease the fuming secretary.
"I was held up by important work."
/Like staying in bed extra long in hopes of avoiding you./
" What kind of lame excuse is that! And - before you get cozy in your nice big office- you have to read and sign these papers."
She pushed a giant stack of papers toward him.
"I am very busy."
Vera raised an eyebrow. Vader decided to hurry into his office. Before he could reach the door however, he was greeted by a laser wall.
"Sorry, but you forgot the papers."
Vader folded his arms and turned.
"I am busy."
Vera stared at him for a full second.
"Woah. Wait."
/No!/
" Anakin?!"
"Vera?!" he imitated her voice.
Please let me know if you like it!
