Chapter three
Andromeda wanted Harry to take the potion at her home so she could keep an eye on Harry in case it didn't work. She knew potions and going over the recipe that Severus had invented, she believed it would work. Apart from the potion it also needed someone powerful to survive the drain on his magical core. But she also knew the risks of new potions, she also thought her belief could be hope that it would work.
'It's a shame he could not work it for before your parents died.'
'Yeah, I thought the same thing, but reading his journals on how he was able to make the potion, did sort of make sense. Using my blood and the charm would only take me to my younger self once I had been touched by dark magic. I know so many would kill Severus for inventing this because it is a dark potion and dangerous.'
'It is, but we have the same belief, sometimes you have to use dark magic to fight dark wizards. This time we're using dark potions to stop a man that is just as dangerous to our world as Voldemort was. Dumbledore needs to be stopped, now you have a chance of doing that.'
'Yeah, I do, I just hope it works, for everyone.'
'It will, have faith Harry. It's time, you should arrive at the muggle's house around twenty four hours before your younger self, one hour after you were touched by dark magic.'
'Let's hope you and Severus is right,' Harry hugged Andromeda, kissed Teddy on the head. He couldn't help thinking, was this the last time he would see them or will he succeed, 'We'll make sure your parents end up together and you get born Teddy, somehow,' Harry moved to the other side of the room. He gave them a smile then closed his eyes, he brought the vial to his lips and was surprised he wasn't scared or nervous. As he had said to himself and to Andromeda, if he didn't work, he would die and end up joining Sirius and his parents. He drank the potion and as he slowly opened his eyes he felt himself being pulled away. Andromeda and Teddy were disappearing right before his eyes. Within seconds he found himself standing in the back garden at number four Private drive.
'This looks different, so it definitely worked. Some of the trees aren't as big as they were last time I was here,' Harry grinned then hurried around to the front of the house. He hurried down to the end of the street and rushed towards the park. He apparated away then quietly snuck into the home of Andromeda Tonks. He placed the diary in the hidden wall safe then left the note that Andromeda had written on her table. It was so she would open the safe to see her diary. When he was done, he hurried away. He bought himself so food and a drink before heading straight back to Privet drive. He might have a long wait but Andromeda and Harry said since he was going back then things could change. They could not take the chance that baby Harry could be brought earlier.
Harry moved so he was hidden by a large begonia bush. He made sure he cloak covered him completely, cast a spell to mask his smell then cast a disillusionment charm. He figured using the cloak and the charm will prevent someone like Dumbledore from seeing him. He cast one last charm, one that will alert him to anyone approaching.
He looked around the garden and the place he had been forced to live, a place that Harry only knew suffering and pain. He would not allow his younger self to go through that, not now he had the chance to change it. All his plans over the last few months were finalised, he just had to wait.
When Harry heard his charm go off, he heard the faint sound of apparition. He saw McGonagall who then changed into a cat. She perched herself on the fence and just sat still, watching everything. The next time his alarm went off, he saw Albus Dumbledore. He walked towards the front fence where he sat down to talk to McGonagall. Snape had said they would be here, waiting for Hagrid to bring baby Harry.
He looked up when he heard the sound of the motorbike, so he knew Sirius was already going after Peter. His plans for that had already been done as well, letters to Amelia Bones and Kingsley Shacklebolt. Andromeda would have one as well so she could say she had been let in on the secret. But as he, Harry/Evan was officially James Potter's brother and only living relative apart from his fifteen month old son, he could give permission for Amelia to have access to James' will. That document will hold information about who the secret keeper was and why they changed from Sirius to Peter. Harry and Andromeda spent months working on plans. Apart from preventing Dumbledore from manipulating things which got people killed. It was to make sure Sirius ended up free.
Harry could not allow Sirius to rot in Azkaban but he also couldn't allow him to get Harry, he was to close to Dumbledore. They may find out he is gone in a week or so, when Sirius is released. Harry had thought about telling Sirius the truth in the hope he would go against Dumbledore. He and Andromeda realised they couldn't take the chance, not with baby Harry's life and if they had any chance of saving everyone else. Harry had been given a second chance to right some wrongs and to save lives, he wasn't going to mess it up. He would allow Sirius to visit with young Harry but it would be a visit Sirius would do alone and at a place he, older Harry would say, so no information could be past on to Dumbledore.
As Harry made sure he was officially James Potter's half brother then he would have the right to take custody of Harry. The magical world prefers that an orphaned witch or wizard to stay with a magical family. Officially he would be down as Evan Wiseman Potter. It would easy to pass himself off as James Potter's brother, he already looked like his father, who looked like his grandfather, Charlus Potter. Harry also had Potter blood. All Harry needed to do was cover his scar and change his eye colour, which he did. Before he left his real time he went to get muggle contact lenses, but had them done in hazel to match his father's eyes. Now he hoped that baby Harry would believe he was his father, at least until he was older where he could understand the truth, or as much of the truth as the older Harry was willing to part with.
Harry never moved as he watched Dumbledore place his baby self on the doorstep, a note stuck inside his blanket. He watched Hagrid take to the sky's on Sirius motorbike, he watched as McGonagall change back into her cat form and slink away. Lastly he watched Dumbledore, he saw a look on the old man's face he had never seen before, an evil, calculating look. Now Harry knew exactly what the old man was truly like, the part he hid from everyone. Dumbledore was evil.
He waited until he heard the distant sound of apparition before he emerged from behind the bush. He removed the disillusionment charm and the cloak. He looked down at his baby self then gently picked him up.
'You slept through it all, or he made sure you would sleep. Well Harry, you're life is going to be better now to what that old man planned.'
Harry threw his invisibility cloak over the both of them then hurried away from Privet drive. Once he was at the park again he tightened his hold on the sleeping baby then turned on the spot.
Harry hurried into the house to see Andromeda Tonks, the younger Andromeda so he knew she had believed her own diary.
'I wasn't sure if I would see you here Andromeda. But since you can't remember, I'm Harry James Potter. Or as I'm now known as Evan Wiseman Potter, half brother to James, the illegitimate son of Fleamont.'
'When I first found the diary I could hardly believe what I was reading. But I checked a few facts that you explained, it was the same. My facts were easy, I remembered them. Now did it play out like you wrote?'
'Yes, he left Harry on the doorstep.'
'Even though I never liked the man, it's so hard to believe he would do something that.'
'Yeah, but a bloody doorstep, it's cold out there tonight,' Harry very gently pulled the blanket away from baby Harry's face, 'He slept through everything, including apparating with me.'
'I would say Albus had someone give him a sleeping draught, which is not recommended for children this young. I will take his blood to determine exactly what potions he has been given.'
'I wish I could tell you, Snape's journal just said I'd been given a few, he knew some were to block some of my abilities but he wasn't sure if there was more,' Harry placed the baby on the bed then watched as Andromeda cast one spell on his finger, a numbing spell. She cut his finger, allowing the blood to flow into the vial until it was full. She then healed the small cut before removing the numbing spell. She began to cast spells over baby Harry's scar, which took twenty minutes.
'There is only a faint residue of dark magic due to the killing curse.'
'So he lied about the soul inside me. I got suspicious when I got pain when I was near him yet his snake didn't. When the snake was killed, we saw Voldemort's face, the snake was a real horcrux. The pain I felt must have been from something the old man did, but since this little boy won't end up near Dumbledore, we don't have to worry.'
'No, we won't, but are you sure you're going to be okay Harry?'
'Yes, you're older self taught me a lot in the month I stayed with you and Teddy. I've also been studying and watching a lot of baby's and how their parents handle them. I know I can floo you if I need, which I'm sure I will. Oh maybe we should start getting used to saying Evan.'
'Yes, Evan, but my floo will always be open for you, day or night. I will let you know the results tomorrow. But I find it hard to believe that Minerva agreed to leave a baby on a doorstep.'
'She probably doesn't know what type of danger there is in the muggle world. Most witches and wizards underestimate the muggles.'
'They do, I did when I first met Ted, he explained a lot to me when we first started dating. I best go, it's late and I'm sure you're going to need as much sleep as you can get with this little one.'
Harry, or Evan, watched as Andromeda kissed Harry's forehead, hugged him then headed to the floo in the living room. As he stared down at his younger self, his thoughts drifted to not only his plans to give Harry a good life, but to also help others, especially helping to save lives. Evan just hoped nothing went wrong.
