Chapter four

Evan carefully unwrapped the blanket from around Harry. He noticed the little sleep suit was clean and wondered who changed him after Voldemort tried to kill him. He figured it was Poppy Pomfrey did since Harry had been taken to Hogwarts right after he was taken from the house. He shook away those thoughts, checked Harry's nappy to find him dry so he very gently picked him up and placed him in the cot beside the bed.

The following day showed Evan just what having a child was like, but he knew he just needed time to adapt to looking after a child, especially one so young. Andromeda turned up with the results of the tests. Evan sagged in relief when Andromeda told him Harry was perfectly healthy and there was nothing wrong with his scar. She brought the potions that Harry would need that will counter act the potions Albus Dumbledore had given Harry to block his powers and gifts.

Andromeda was going to look after young Harry and give him the potions while Evan went to stop the Longbottom's being cursed. Evan might not have been able to prevent his own parents being murdered, but he could stop Neville losing his parent's to the cruciatus curse.

Evan made sure the aurors would know to turn up at the Longbottom home, but he would make sure Bellatrix Lestrange and Barty Crouch were delayed just long enough so they could not get to Frank and Alice before the aurors arrived.

Evan never thought he had much luck in his life, but things seem to be finally working out. He was able to keep the two death eaters out of the house until a squad of aurors turned up. Even though aurors were good, Evan stayed hidden to help if it looked like Bellatrix and Barty would get away. The moment the two death eaters were disarmed and bound, Evan quietly snuck away and headed home to his now son, Harry.

Over the next few weeks, Evan got into a routine with Harry, with Andromeda and Ted's help. They had to make it look good for the visits from the department of magical orphans. Andromeda had helped Evan claim custody of his so called nephew, being a healer her word held a lot of weight. Once they performed the tests on his blood they knew Evan was truly a Potter and going on his looks they knew he was a brother to James. As a magical relative, he was granted custody.

Once that was done, Evan had to send those letters to Amelia Bones and Kingsley Shacklebolt, Andromeda was going to take them as she would tell them her story. How she got to know Lily through her husband, him being a muggleborn who happened to know Lily's parents. She had to make her story believable, that Lily confided in her about the prophecy and who the secret keeper was and why they changed.

That also worked out well, the aurors questioned Sirius under the influence of veritaserum and found the truth. He was not the secret keeper of the Potters nor did he kill those muggles, Peter Pettigrew did then faked his death.

It only took a few days for the aurors to go to the Burrow to arrest Peter Pettigrew. Percy had been upset at first that his rat was being taken but the moment he saw the aurors change the rat back into a man, he looked sickened. Sirius was finally free and the first thing he did was go to Little Whinging to get his godson.

Evan spent the entire first month with his younger self, at the house, without going out at all. He wanted young Harry to get used to the change of home and the fact that his mother wasn't around. Evan believed Harry thought he was his father. He got a lot of smiles from Harry then one day he said "daddy"

'You can talk mate,' Evan grinned as he picked up his baby self, 'I'm going to have to start saying son or nephew, son would be best as you do believe I am your father. I will tell you part of the truth when you are older and understand the danger, especially about Albus Dumbledore.'

Sirius and Albus arrived at privet drive, nothing Albus said could make Sirius change his mind about taking Harry. When Sirius yelled that Petunia would hate Harry and nothing would prevent him from doing what he promised James and Lily he would do, Albus realised he would need to change his plans. He had been furious when he found out that letters and a copy of James' will had been delivered to the aurors. Then he heard about this Andromeda Tonks person who knew too much, supposedly from Lily. He had many plans to make and many people to convince so they would support him, Sirius would be easy, the unknown was Andromeda Tonks.

Sirius knocked on the door, 'Hello Petunia, I'm here to pick up my godson.'

'Why would one of you be here, especially your godson.'

'I left Lily's son here for you to care for Petunia, they named Sirius godfather.'

'I have no idea what you are talking about. I have not heard from my freak of a sister since she married that…man.'

'Are you saying Harry is not here?' Albus asked sounding worried.

'No, he is not, I never saw him. Now I want you to leave,' Petunia slammed the door.

'Let me check,' Albus cast a few charms, 'There is no magical person in that house, only Petunia and her son.'

'Do you think someone took him?'

'Maybe, let us check in with the ministry, they can use the trace to find children if needed.'

Albus and Sirius hurried to the ministry. When they asked to track Harry Potter's trace they were denied.

'Can I ask why when Sirius, who is his godfather wishes to take his godson.'

'His uncle now has custody, since he is blood family and a wizard he was granted full and sole custody of his nephew.'

'James had no family,' Sirius said.

'He did not know that his father took up with another woman. Evan Wiseman Potter is James Potter's half brother. I have to say he looks exactly like James Potter.'

'Can you tell us where they live, we want to make sure Harry is alright?' Albus asked trying to keep his anxiety under control.

'No, Mr. Potter does not want anyone to see them until Harry settles in. But he did say that when Mr. Black turns up that he could write and work on a time to meet. He also said that Mr. Black is to go alone or he will leave and you will never see your godson again. It seems he is quite upset that his brother was killed while he supposedly had so much protection. He is also upset that Harry wasn't even checked by a qualified healer after surviving the killing curse.'

'I had Poppy Pomfrey check him before taking Harry to his aunt, his mother's sister.'

'Poppy Pomfrey is not a healer, she is also not qualified to examine a person who has been hit with dark magic. Mr. Potter has taken Harry to a healer who is qualified, she has been conducting many tests on the boy. Is there anything else I can help you with?'

'No, nothing, I'll write to…Mr. Potter,' Sirius said sounding miserable.

'Let me know when you plan to meet him Sirius, we must make sure Harry is well. But did James ever mention anything about his father being unfaithful?'

'Yes, he said his dad had a mistress, but that's all he knew. If he is known as a Potter then Fleamont must have registered this Evan as a Potter.'

'Then as blood family there is nothing we can do. But write straight away, make sure you explain about the blood wards we planned to use to keep Harry safe. It must be Petunia Dursley. Even though you will take him if you can, he needs to know the danger Harry could be in.'

'I'll let you know, but I doubt he will listen, he is Harry's uncle. Think of this as well, that bloke said Evan looks like James. That could help Harry adjust to losing his parents, if he feels Evan is his father then it will be best while he first starts missing Lily.'

'He is still in danger, there are many death eaters around Sirius, he must be made aware.'

Sirius waited until Albus left before he headed to his flat, a flat he only planned to stay in until he found house.

He wrote his letter and went to the magical post office, he watched as the owl flew away. He wonder how long it would be before he heard back from this Evan potter.

Evan watched an owl fly into the room, 'I bet this is from Sirius or Dumbledore,' he took the letter, the owl sat watching him, "Hello, I'm Sirius Black, godfather to your nephew Harry Potter. I expected to get custody of my godson until I was informed about you, that you are James' brother. He was my best friend, I can't tell you how sorry I am that he is no longer with us. I found out you were willing to let me see Harry, I really want to, we had such a great relationship even though he is only a baby. Please let me know when and where you wish to meet. I give my word I will keep this quiet as I want to stay part of Harry's life, Sirius Black."

Evan took a pen in hand then wrote, "I know you care very much for Harry, I have kept an eye on my family even if I was not part of it. You are welcome to see your godson, but under no circumstance is Albus Dumbledore allowed near Harry or be told anything about him. Know this, Harry would love to see Padfoot again. So you two can keep seeing each other, I will require an oath on your magic that you will reveal nothing to Albus or anyone associated with Albus Dumbledore. He is not to be trusted, you might trust him but I don't and especially with Harry's upbringing. I found out some disturbing things about that man so I have taken steps to ensure that Harry never has any contact with that old man. If you wish to see Harry then you will know what you have to do. Now, I do believe he will try to have you followed or even use legilimense on you to determine where you will be meeting us. I will send you a letter which will give you instructions. That is all I will say apart from the letter will be protected, in case he decides to read your mail. Give me about a week and you should hear from me, but tell that man that you haven't heard from me yet. If he happens to be with you when this letter arrives then make sure he does not read it, Evan Potter."

Evan held the letter out to the owl who took it in it's beak, then carried him to the window.

'Take that back to Sirius Black, safe flight,' he watched until the owl was out of sight before turning away, 'I'll probably need to get another owl, Hedwig will be around when young Harry is eleven and as far as I know he was only a couple of years old,' Evan thought for a minute then decided to get an owl until he could get Hedwig.
