Chapter five

Sirius looked up when an owl flew into the room, the same owl he had paid to deliver his letter to Evan Potter. The owl dropped the letter then flew off. Sirius wasn't sure why the owl didn't have the letter tied to his leg but figured it didn't come far. He ignored the look from Remus and Albus, took the letter in his hand. He started to read but made sure the keep the other two from being able to read it. Just as he finished reading he felt the old feeling of being transported by portkey.

Evan introduced himself to Sirius, then he explained to Sirius how Lily was a true seer and how she found out what Albus Dumbledore planned for her son when they died. She could not stop her death or James' death, if she did then Voldemort would kill her son and go on to destroy their world. Harry and Andromeda had worked on plans, especially how to get Sirius on their side and away from Dumbledore. Telling him that Lily was a seer and being dead meant no one could find out she wasn't seemed like a believable story. Sirius said Lily always seemed to have a sixth sense about things, so he was easily convinced.

Now it was time to Sirius to become part of young Harry's family and get Sirius away from Albus and anyone that supports him. Even though Evan had been disappointed in Remus, he realised it was all Albus which kept Remus from contacting Harry as a child. He hoped Remus would be with them and away from Albus Dumbledore.

Evan had agreed with the department of magical orphans to see how young Harry was adapting to his new life. They wanted to see his home and how Evan went about handling and caring for a baby. Once Evan had young Harry for three months, Grace Montgomery began to make her visits. She would inspect the house then watch how Evan went about caring for his nephew. She even got to meet Andromeda and her family. They said these visits would only last for a few weeks. Once they were done and the child had not been removed then Evan would have full and sole custody of Harry James Potter. The length of one month was only decided because Evan was so young, they wanted to make sure he was up to caring for a baby. They believed Evan to be twenty years old, which was young, but many magical people married young. Normally they just didn't have children at this age. They might prefer a magical family to raise a magical child but they still needed to make sure that child was safe, happy and looked after. So they had to make sure Evan could handle everything when it came to caring for a baby.

In between allowing Sirius to visit Harry, spending time with Dora, Andromeda and Ted, young Harry seemed to be adapting to his new life. During this time Evan had began to work on a way to contact Severus Snape. He would never like the man but if he could just get Snape to listen than many of the old man's plans will fall through.

It took a few months of watching Hogwarts and Hogsmeade to get an idea of Severus Snape's routine. Evan wanted to approach him during the holidays so they would have time to talk. He needed Snape to listen, just for a few minutes then he would realise the truth. Or he would know the truth once he read in his own words what type of life he was about to have.

Evan began to use a glamour charm when he went out. He could not have anyone know he was a Potter, if that happen they would know he was the man that had young Harry. He could not afford for Albus Dumbledore, his order or the Weasley's to know where Harry Potter, the-boy-who-lived was living. He had to keep them in the dark for as long as possible, he hoped forever.

Evan waited until Severus left the boundary of the Hogwarts enchantments before he walked out from where he had been hiding. He kept his invisibility cloak on so he could get Snape away without the young man trying to kill him.

He waited until there was no one around then sent a stunner at Snape, he quickly grabbed him and apparated away. He was using the cellar in an old deserted home in the hope no one would find out where Snape had been taken. He bound Snape to a chair, removed his wand then woke him up.

'How dare you.'

'I dare as this was all your idea Severus, well, your future self's idea. I know you probably think I'm lying or nuts, that doesn't matter. What does matter is the truth, the truth about you, Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and many others. As you know he never kept his promise to save Lily. Now he has you where he wants you, his pawn, his spy, ready to do anything he wants even things you would never do as a death eater. I have proof so you will know I'm telling the truth, but until then you will remain bound and tied.

'Let me start with this, you spoke with Lily two weeks before she died, you admitted that you deliberately called her mudblood because some of the Slytherin's wanted you to take her to the dark lord to be killed, because she was muggleborn. She wasn't going to forgive you as she believed you relayed the prophecy to Voldemort. You didn't, Rabastan Lestrange is the one that overheard the first part of the prophecy. Albus told Lily and James it was you, but you didn't realise it meant their son, so you changed sides so he could spy for Albus. The old man fed you a story so you would go with that.'

'No one knows that.'

'I know, you left me a diary before you died, at the age of thirty eight and at the hands of Voldemort and his pet snake, Nagini,' Harry picked up the diary and opened it, 'This isn't one of the ones you left for me, this was yours that was just with your belongings. I can't even read it. I know there are spells that could make it look like your writing, but there is stuff in here that only you would know.'

'Say I believe you, how could I die by the dark lord when he's dead?'

'He's body disappeared, his soul is still around and one day in the near future he gets reborn. Albus Dumbledore is not the man everyone believes he is, he had plans for Harry Potter and plans for you. You found out about these plans for Harry and wrote them down so they could be given to Harry when he's older.'

'Who are you?'

Harry had already cast the charms to prevent Snape from telling anyone anything about what they spoke about, so he knew he and young Harry would be safe.

He removed the glamour, 'I'm Harry, from your future but as far as anyone knows I'm Evan Potter, half brother of James and now guardian to Harry. I am raising my other self as I was not going to allow things to stay the same. So many died, so many suffered, you, me and some others became pawns in Dumbledore play for power. It took you ten years but you invented a potion that would only work for me to return twenty four hours after being hit with dark magic. The potion you made is dark, you invented it but it used my blood and the spell to bring me to my younger self one day after being touched by dark magic. You tried to find a way to return me to before my parents died, but nothing worked.

'You were used by Dumbledore and you are going to be forced to spy for him again. Which means you will get tortured as you will not be able to give Voldemort enough information on Dumbledore and his Order. He has you under an unbreakable vow. It does not matter that you can't tell me, you wrote it after he died.'

'If he wanted power then how did he die?'

'He accidentally cursed himself because he was tempted. I'll explain all that, but you've probably written it down in this book. You were the one that slowed the curse down but you couldn't stop it and told Dumbledore he had a year, at most. I think I'm right, but you will have a meeting with Albus within the next few days, that meeting is about Harry. I know this is all hard to believe Severus, but you risked a lot to get this potion made and leave me with the information I needed. The moment you touch your diary you should see the words, It's charmed so no one can see it. I think its so only you could read some stuff you would rather not let anyone else know.' Harry never mentioned the charm he placed on the diary, one that would mean Severus could not speak about this to anyone other than Harry or Evan Potter. He had to make sure that things did not change, that Severus did not decide to go to Albus Dumbledore with this information.

'If you are who you say you are and have Potter, where is he?'

'With a friend, someone that helped me before I came back. When I told her about your diaries she decided to write her own. It was so her younger self would know this was all real. I plan to let you go after I tell you what that old man plans are for you and Harry, then you can take your diary. All I need you to do is put a bit of trust in yourself Severus, put that trust in how brilliant you are at potions. You gave me this chance to save many lives, yet you did not ask for me to save you. I admit you and I did not like each other, but you did risk your life for me on many occasions and those occasions were caused by Albus Dumbledore. I decided since you did risk a lot for me then you deserve to live as well. I could have stayed silent about when you die, but I wanted to be honest in every way. This will be your decision but it doesn't change what I plan to do.'

'So you didn't do this to get me to help you?'

'No, I did all this to save lives that Albus Dumbledore decided could be sacrificed and to save Harry from a life of torment, suffering and pain. You loved Lily, if you knew what I went through as a child you would move hell itself to stop that, for Lily, not for me. I decided that you should have a chance as well, a chance at a life which was based on truth and not lies or manipulation. I will set a time on your release, a few minutes after I leave, then it's up to you.'

'Tell me what this meeting is going to be about then.'

'Albus wants to work on a story, first is that you became hard and cold due to Lily's death. The next part is for you to keep in contact with the death eaters so when Voldemort returns they will see someone that is using his position to help them. Next, is about me, or the younger me. He will make you act like you despise Harry Potter, the-boy-who-lived as he killed your master, it's to keep your role as a spy. You are forced to treat Harry terribly from the very first time you see him. You use your hatred of my father in your act, you sneer and snarl at me, you constantly tell me I'm arrogant like my father and that rules were not meant for me and sometimes you say cruel things to me about my father. Now when I am eleven and you see me, you do think I'm like James Potter. It was an accident that you found out the truth, that I was being abused by the muggles and manipulated by Albus and my so called friends. It was a detention a week into my first year. I never suspected you found out, not until I read your journals. You did keep up your act but you were aiding me, in secret, without me or anyone else knowing.'

Evan placed the diary on Severus' lap, flicked his wand then turned on the spot, disappearing. A minute later Severus was free. He had no idea what was going on but he knew one thing, that man knew things no one did which means he could just be telling the truth. It's time to find out what was going on, it's time to read the diary.
