Chapter six
Sirius answered a knock on the door, 'Moony,' he moved aside, 'so what brings you here?'
'Apart from seeing you Padfoot, I wanted to know how Harry is.'
'He's good, happy and healthy. Naturally he calls out to his mum and he gets upset when Evan tells him she's not there. He's just too young to understand.'
'Why isn't he calling out for his father?'
'Because Evan is the spitting image of James, it's uncanny how much they look alike, like twins. It's just their mannerisms are different, Evan is more serious than James was.'
'Are you sure he's healthy Sirius? Albus is worried about the scar and after affects of being hit with the killing curse. He knows an unspeakable who specialises in the killing curse, he is willing to examine Harry.'
'Harry has seen a healer, he is fine. I made an unbreakable vow to Evan that I will never allow Albus Dumbledore near Harry.'
'But why?'
'Evan believes Albus is not as good as everyone thinks. He said he's been watching for years and saw Albus do things no one would believe. I'm not taking the chance with Harry's life, or his happiness. He lost his parent's Moony, he's not going to lose me just because Albus wants to see him. He is not family, he has no rights to Harry.'
'He just wants what's best for him, but I cannot believe you would trust this man over Albus Dumbledore.'
'I sat in Azkaban for weeks Moony and it wasn't Albus who got me out, it was letters from James and Lily that Evan sent the aurors and it was Andromeda Tonks. I spoke with Amelia after I was released, Albus never went to see her about me, but she did tell me he went to speak with Crouch. Albus said he believed I was the secret keeper and that I finally gave in to the Black curse. Did I ever show that side Moony, that I could ever be like my family?'
'No, I'm sure they heard wrong.'
'You can trust him all you want Remus, but I am not going to so I can stay close to Harry. It will mean you never see Harry again, maybe when he's a lot older, probably not until he's an adult, but not before.'
'I owe Albus everything, I cannot turn my back on him. But he did say he knows a very nice family with children the same age as Harry. He thought if you wanted to relay that to Evan Potter then the children can play together.'
'Evan and Andromeda have already introduced Harry to other children. Evan would never trust anyone that Albus trusts. Who is this family anyway?'
'If you're not going to relay the message, why would you want to know?'
'So I can tell Evan to keep Harry away from them.'
'Sirius, this is getting ridiculous.'
'Tell me the name Remus?'
'No, they have done nothing, nor has Albus. You are being paranoid.'
'fine, then leave, I do not want to see you again.'
'Padfoot,' Remus stared in shock at his old friend.
'Choose, me and Harry, or Albus, it's either one or the other but it comes with an unbreakable vow.'
'I will not turn my back on Albus, but to show that you can trust me, the name is the Weasley family.'
'Fabian and Gideon's sister's family, no, I met that woman once, Harry will never have anything to do with her, or her family. You can stick with the old man but you will never see Harry, now I think you should leave. Tell Albus if he doesn't give up, then he may just find himself in trouble. Evan happens to have incriminating evidence against the old man, he won't use it unless he has too,' Sirius opened the door, 'You chose wrong Moony, James and Lily would be ashamed of you, choosing the old man over their son after all the trouble James and I went through to help you. This is goodbye, for good, never come here again,' Sirius glared then slammed the door before he took hold of his portkey that Evan supplied him.
'I believe we need to get those plans done Evan, the old man is now using Moony to get Harry to the Weasley family.'
'Just as Lily predicted, Andromeda and I have almost finished with the plans for the private school. Ted will be helping us set it up, since he's a muggleborn and many of the children that are now friends with Harry will be invited to Hogwarts yet they will never be allowed to have a decent life.'
'You don't have to tell me what those pure-bloods are like, I was raised with some of them.'
'So will you take up one of the positions?'
'I've thought about it, yes, I will but it will have to be transfiguration since it was my best subject.'
'That's perfect, Ted will be taking the children through their muggle education but also taking the children who are half-bloods raised in the magical world through the muggle studies class. Andromeda wants to take magical studies and healing, she will also be the healer on call. I have a few others that I have in mind for the other subjects, but we also need some people who can teach muggle sports. I will take defence and charms, until I can find more staff. Oh will you take flying and quidditch as well, until we see if we need more staff?'
'I might not have been as good as James but I could hold my own in a friendly game of quidditch. What about you, you did say you like to fly?'
'I will help with the quidditch when I get time, but running the school and teaching two subjects might stretch me.'
'So the Irish government has agreed to allow you to open a private school that caters to both magical and muggle studies.'
'Yes, they believe a school like this is necessary, all they asked was that we don't deny people just because their pure-bloods. I explain I won't, but the children will need to take an aptitude test and pledge loyalty to our school. Also that they are not involved with Albus Dumbledore or the ministry in England.
'You think he will try to get some kids in to spy on Harry?'
'Yes, he will, like the Weasley kids, Ron and Ginny in particular. The twins I would take instantly but their parent's would never allow them to join us if we said no to the other two.'
'It's a shame, you told me what the twins are like, I would love to get to know them.'
'Maybe you will, but they are only young. Well, let's get into the office, we need to finish our plans for the buildings then have them built.'
'Where's Harry?'
'With his friends having a play date.'
'What is a play date?'
'Sorry, muggle saying. You know what a date is, well, it just means that the kids are spending time together, playing, instead of snogging.'
'Play date, cool.'
Evan laughed then pulled his godfather into the office. He believed he was getting closer to telling Sirius the truth. He had begun to write about his life in a journal so Sirius will be able to read it all for himself. But he had also began to remove certain memories just so Sirius will understand exactly what happened to Harry and would happen still if Albus Dumbledore had his way.
Sirius was going over the plans for the buildings, 'So you're going to have a swimming pool along with quidditch pitch and a sports ground like the muggle's have?'
'Yes, I know of many that had to give up playing muggle sport when they went to Hogwarts, which is wrong. If they want witches and wizards who were raised in the muggle world to join Hogwarts then they have to change their way of running things. They can't keep catering to all the pure-bloods.'
'I agree with you, Lily said she missed a lot of things during the times she spent at Hogwarts.'
'What were those?'
'Phones for one, she said being away from her parent's for almost a year was hard, she wished she could ring them. She missed music lessons as well. When she was in her final year she did sneak away with James to head to a muggle town so she could ring her parents.'
'That's why I've been working on that other building, it will be full of muggle things, like phones, televisions, computers and stereo's. I want to set one room up like a movie theatre, that way the children can have movie nights. I'm setting up some other rooms for things like musical instruments and dance. I also want to make sure there is somewhere the students can do art, whether it's painting, drawing or even sculpting. Because of the weather, I wanted the sports arena and the pool to be indoor so they can be used all year around. Apart from doing this so people like muggleborns can keep both part's of them while at school, it will also be used to show pure-bloods what the muggle world is like. Do you know much about martial arts?'
'No, I've heard the word, but I have no idea what it is.'
'It's a way to fight, but to protect yourself, using your body. That's the easiest way to describe it. You learn how to defend yourself, block punches, use your feet if you need to and you learn weapons. I'm going to look around some of the muggle towns at the different styles of martial arts. Even if some children only want to learn to protect themselves it will give them the choice and it will help if they lose their wands if they get into a fight. Imagine someone like you or James having someone come up to you and kick you in the head, putting you on your arse, or have you in a hold where you could not use your wand. Would you know how to get out of that without being badly injured or rendered unconscious?'
'Definitely not, though I would give it all I could.'
'Good, then maybe you might just like to see what's involved. It's one thing I always wanted to learn. I had this little prick of a kid who would get in my face then insult me, but his insults were, "wait until my father hears about this". He was pathetic but I could not retaliate as we were standing too close together. But he also had most of the staff protecting him. This is why I want all the children to know they are equals in every way and if any don't like it, they leave. One year, a muggleborn friend punched this kid in the face, knocked him on his arse, him and his thug mates looked shocked. She beat him without using magic.'
'Then I definitely want to see what's involved.'
'Great, now lets finish these plans so we can get them to the builders.'
Evan and Sirius worked side by side, adding things, changing things. But they both realised that even though they will have a lot less students than Hogwarts, they would need a lot of rooms which means many buildings.
