Chapter eight

The evening after Sirius had seen the memories from the older Harry's life, the two men sat down both with glasses of Firewhiskey and talked. They were honest and open about everything. Sirius did tell Evan that he had hoped Remus would come around. But he never heard from Remus again. Sirius knew it meant Remus was going to support Albus Dumbledore over his old friend and James's son. That hurt Sirius more than anything. James and Sirius went to a lot of trouble for Remus so he would not be alone during the world nights. It seems that did not matter to Remus. Evan consoled Sirius as best he could but he did explain that he was still young enough to make good friends, ones that were truly loyal. Andromeda, Ted and Evan knew this meant there would be no Teddy in the future, or at least a Teddy that had Remus as his father. Teddy could still be born to Dora, just to another father.

The two men spent time working on how to make a map of their school. They wanted a Marauders map, but this time they will add extra features. One that will show if a person's name is an animagus or if they are using things like polyjuice potion, or even invisibility cloaks. After Harry was fooled by Barty Crouch, he didn't want to take the chance that someone could sneak into his school, especially someone that was working for Dumbledore. If there was someone that would risk coming to the school, then it would only be to kidnap young Harry. Evan and Sirius were not going to allow that to happen.

It was a few nights later that Evan and Sirius waited until Harry was asleep before they got comfortable, ready to discuss Voldemort.

'Right, as you saw in the memory, Dumbledore knew Voldemort was possessing Quirrell. He also knew he was a wraith for many years yet he never tried to find him. Right now he's still in Albania, that's where he stayed until Quirrell stumbled across him.'

'So we can go find him now, find some way to capture his spirit or soul.'

'We could, but the horcruxes Sirius, we need to destroy those before we attempt to capture him. He cannot have those anchors in case he gets away. Once we destroy those then we can take his father's bones, completely remove every bit of Tom Riddle from that grave. I believe it would be easier to capture the rat in the confines of Hogwarts. I'm still not sure it wasn't the old man that made it possible for Pettigrew to escape Azkaban. Either way he will be at Hogwarts, watching and listening. The castle is so big that hiding as a rat would be easy. The rat probably believes Harry will eventually turn up, so he would be hanging around, waiting and watching.'

'Won't Albus find out?'

'Not if we get the map, then we have two maps and use the cloak, both cloaks. Albus has the cloak Sirius, but I also have it. Don't ask me how, it's weird time travel. There is of course the chance the cloak vanished when I came here, we won't know until we check, the same with the map.'

'If we can get into his office without him finding out, great, we'll take the cloak if it's there, but you have one, that's all we need. Since I saw your memory, I knew I could not use padfoot, but in a way I can. I can change my form but only to another from the canine family. We could sneak in using one of the tunnels, grab the map then find somewhere to stay while we work on the rest of the plans.'

'I've already got those worked out. I know what Dumbledore plans to use to protect the stone. But we need the other map so both of us can keep an eye out. It's in Filch's office, but that's all Fred and George told me.'

'I can easily lure Filch out, some sound spells to make it look like students are out after curfew.'

'Good, then you can handle that.'

Evan and Sirius found it too easy to get into Hogwarts undetected. They found the invisibility cloak and the map. Peter wasn't at Hogwarts, but it didn't mean he wouldn't turn up one day. When they returned to the school they planned to tweak the original Marauder's map to show an animagus, but like their new map, it will also show someone using polyjuice potion or an invisibility cloak.

With both Evan and Sirius using the invisibility cloaks they snuck into the room of requirement. Evan removed the small vial of poison he had taken from the basilisk after he killed it. Evan was not going to allow any child to end up petrified or dead if Lucius Malfoy still decided to slip the diary to Ginny Weasley. They could not get the diary, at least they had not worked out a way to sneak into Malfoy manor. Sirius had found the locket in his parent's home and as he was the head of the Black family, he called his cousins, Bellatrix Lestrange and Narcissa Malfoy, oath breakers. Once the magic took affect, Bellatrix and Narcissa's vault contents were transferred to Sirius vault, as head of the Black bloodline. He got Helga Hufflepuff's goblet straight away, again Evan used basilisk venom to destroy it. They had to get the ring but also be careful since they knew the ring was cursed, which had killed Albus Dumbledore in Harry's real live.

Evan dropped some of the venom onto the diadem. Sirius had been sicked and shocked at what he had seen. After the screaming from Voldemort's soul stopped, Evan placed the diadem back onto the bust.

'So the ring and the diary. There has got to be a way to get the diary.'

'One of our problems has been that the house is protected, warded, but lucky we found it's not under the fidelius charm.'

'Right, so we can see it, we just can't get past the wards and if we did then we have to get in without anyone finding out.'

'I had an idea, Dobby. Since you basically threw Narcissa out of the Black family and Dobby was originally Narcissa's elf, he ended up back with you. He spent time there and I know he was able to get into places like the secret room old Lucy had.'

'Then I'll asked him.'

'Even though I hate this Sirius, order him. We'll just make sure he knows to be careful and not put himself in danger. We need that before we can finally go after Voldemort.'

'Alright, he loves Harry, if I say it will help keep Harry safe then Dobby will do it. He will do anything for Harry.'

'He always did Sirius. He saved my life a few times, yet I could not save his. Even if I know there wasn't much I could have done differently, I still blame myself for what happened to him.'

'It's not going to happen this time Evan. We're working plans and we're making sure we careful. So once we destroy the diary, we'll go after the ring.'

'Right, and it will need both of us. Me, I can get through the wards that are set in parseltongue. It's the ring and the compulsion charms that are attached to it. The ring will make you want to put it on, so between both of us we should be able to keep a safe distance until we can drop it in the bowl with the venom.'

'We'll be right mate, don't worry. You'll stop me putting it on and I'll stop you. We only need to get it into the air, then drop it so the venom can do the work. Are you sure you don't want to try to make the old man get it?'

'I would love for him to be cursed again, but he would leave it for years. We can't take the chance that one of the death eaters find old Voldy and bring him back sooner. It has to be now, while we've got the chance and his still weak.'

'Fair enough.'

Evan and Sirius finished making their plans then Sirius went to his room to call Dobby. Like Evan, he hated ordering the little elf to sneak into Malfoy manor. The moment he said getting the diary would make sure Harry was safe, Dobby instantly wanted to help.

It only took Dobby ten minutes before he returned to Sirius with the diary. Sirius could feel the evil from it, he also felt the compulsion to write in it. Lucky for him, Evan gave him a bag that had runes carved into it. The bag will stop anyone feeling the compulsion or the dark magic.

Evan stared at the diary and his memory flashed to the chamber of secrets. None of that should have happened. It was Hermione who figured out the monster was a basilisk, none of the teachers did. Harry believed the old man knew and he hoped if Harry went to save Ron's little sister, Harry would die. He had no idea if he was right and Snape never found out if that's what Dumbledore planned. He had the support of the Weasley's, Ron was to keep Harry from learning too much, Ginny would end up Harry's wife with the use of love potions, just to get his money. Yet Albus Dumbledore allowed Ginny to be possessed by Voldemort and taken to the chamber of secrets where she could have died. It made Harry curious about that and he wondered if maybe it wasn't really Ginny but someone Dumbledore gave polyjuice potion to. He knew he would never find out but to Harry, it made sense since Molly, Ron and Ginny were in on the plans with the old man. They didn't know that Dumbledore planned for Harry to be killed, it was luck and his mother that kept allowing Harry to live. He shuddered at the thought of being married to Ginny. If McGonagall hadn't told him about the things Snape left him, he would be stuck in a loveless marriage and he would still be manipulated and used. With the way Ginny, Ron and Molly planned to use him for his money, they could have spent it all and left him with nothing. He may never like Severus Snape, but he had finally forgiven the man for all the help he gave but also spent ten years working on that potion so Harry could prevent many innocent people dying.

When he felt Sirius's hand on his shoulder he realised he had been lost in those thoughts. He pulled out the vial of basilisk venom and allowed a few drops to hit the diary. Like the diadem, the diary screamed.

Evan and Sirius couldn't help feeling happy. Things were looking up and very soon it should see the end of Voldemort, for good.

Even though Evan and Sirius would like to go straight away to get the ring, they decided to do it the following day. They spent the day at the school but they also spent a lot of time watching young Harry playing with his friends. He was just a normal boy having fun with friends. That was something the older Harry never had.
