CHAPTER NINE

The following day, Evan asked Andromeda to take care of everything that he and Sirius were going after the last horcrux before they could finally finish off Voldemort, for good.

Evan took Sirius by side-along apparition. They appeared on the road in front of the old Gaunt shack. Between Evan speaking parseltongue and Sirius casting spells, they were able to get into the house. Evan put the bowl on the floor, poured some venom into then nodded to Sirius. He broke the floor away then levitated the ring out of the hole and into the bowl while Even kept his wand at the ready, in case Sirius was affected by the charm. When they heard the loud piercing scream, both relaxed but also smiled.

'Now, we just have to find him,' Evan said staring down at the now destroyed ring. He liked the fact that the stone was also destroyed. He knew Dumbledore put the ring on so he could use the stone to call his sister back. Evan liked the fact that he denied the old man the chance of using the stone. He also knew just how Dumbledore could be if he did get hold of the ring while he owned the wand. He would never get the cloak, not now Evan and Sirius had been able to sneak into Hogwarts to get it. Neither Evan or Sirius would trust Dumbledore didn't find a way to get to Harry, who he would believe would have the cloak. Evan had both, he just lent one to Sirius. Even planned to lock the cloaks away after every use. He would only use one or both if he had no choice. The horcruxes were gone, all they had to do was find Voldemort, or what Voldemort was possessing.

It was a week later that Evan once again turned the school over to Andromeda while he and Sirius went in search of Voldemort. She knew what they were doing and just they found him before he could return.

Evan and Sirius weren't sure if he was still a wraith, or if he might be possessing someone. They did know he was not in the country so they believed he was still in Albania, probably possessing snakes, like he did the first time. They would search and just hope they found him.

Evan and Sirius knew it would take a while, but they had made a reusable portkey. They were not going to leave Harry for more than a couple of days at a time. They would not want Harry to think they abandoned him. So every third day, Evan or Sirius would return, spend the evening with Harry, then return to their search.

Evan and Sirius were beginning to believe they might not find Voldemort which meant they would have to wait until he returned to England with Quirrell.

It took a month before they found the snake that Voldemort was possessing. Sirius had hidden under one of the invisibility cloaks while Evan made sure the snake could see him. Voldemort might believe Evan was James Potter, which is what they were hoping. Evan stayed back but he didn't act aggressive. If the snake seemed to go towards him and not the food that Sirius was holding, then they believed it was because Voldemort would want to either kill Evan or possess him. The moment the snake lunged at Evan, Sirius sent a cutting hex at it, severing its head from his body. The moment the wraith of Voldemort emerged, Evan sprayed it with basilisk venom. Just like the soul pieces, the wraith screamed. It took longer than the horcruxes, but the wraith of Voldemort finally died and both knew that this time, he was completely dead.

Evan ended up sagging until he was sitting on the ground staring into space. Sirius sat beside him and pulled his godson into his arms. Evan might be a grown man, but he had been tense and stressed for years. He had also seen many people die, including Sirius. Finally he just let go and sobbed into Sirius's arms.

During her time at the school, Andromeda had done more research into the English ministry of magic. She found that many departments had to combine with others and cut staff due to a lack of people applying after they finished their education. The ones that did apply were pure-bloods who turned down jobs because they believed it was beneath them. They sprouted that it was a job for a mudblood, not a pure-blood. The ministry of magic was losing people faster than they were gaining them, so now they had to pay the free house elves to take over maintenance along with cleaning and cooking.

All the pure-bloods lost their house elves due to a rare spell that had been missing for centuries. Evan found the scroll in the home of Salazar Slytherin, who believed the elves should be kept as servants. Now they were free, the ones that had trouble finding paid work now worked at Evan's school. Some were lucky, their good owners offered to pay them, but to also house them. There would be no punishments and they wouldn't be ask to do anything that was against their beliefs.

Andromeda had heard a few people at the English ministry of magic talk about the new school in Ireland and how the Irish now had their own ministry. They were fully staffed because they did not give people jobs based on blood status, they were given jobs on their ability to do the job. It seemed the English ministry of magic might be finally getting the gist of how their beliefs were destroying their world, but only in England. The Irish was now part of the international confederation of wizards, which gave information on other magical communities as well as make alliances, in case it was needed.

Now as Evan looked around at the students, which numbered nearly five hundred, he saw kids he had known, who were finally having a good time while learning. Some might be pure-bloods but you would never tell when they had fun and played alongside a muggleborn. They even enjoyed a muggle activity, like a muggle sport. This school was exactly what the world needed, especially after the way the magical community in England treated people who were not pure-bloods. A few of the students that had left over the last few years found work in other countries magical communities, some went on to continue their education in a muggle university. There were a few that wanted to combine muggle and magical, like with medicine and healing.

As Evan glance at all the happy students having their end of year feast his thoughts drifted to Hogwarts. He knew that Albus Dumbledore would be expecting Harry to attend Hogwarts at the beginning of the next school year. But young Harry had already started his magical education in Ireland, along with all his friends. Evan did wonder if that's when he might hear from the old wizard. He would never get inside this school, it was warded by the goblins along with the house elves.

Most witches and wizards knew goblins were powerful magical beings, but they forget that house elves were also powerful magic beings. When they were free and treated good by their employers they ended up very loyal but they could access more of their magic. So they stood beside the goblins to cast their enchantments to make sure no one could pass through the wards without Evan's say so. Evan had control of the wards, but he also made sure Sirius, Andromeda and Ted could access them in case anything happened to Evan. With Albus Dumbledore around, as well as all those death eaters that got out of being sent to Azkaban, Evan was not taking any chances with young Harry's life but also all the other children that went to the school.

Evan didn't hear the talk from the staff, he just couldn't stop smiling at the happy faces of the students. It made him proud that he was a big reason for their looks.

Sirius grinned then turned to his wife, 'I've never seen Evan look so content.'

Marlene glanced at the headmaster, 'He does seem at peace. How do you think he will feel when he hears I have to take time off?'

'He will love it Marlene, another child coming into a safe world. As you know he lost his family during the war with Voldemort. All Evan wants now is for the children to grow up knowing it's safe and there family is safe.'

'What would you say about making Evan our child's godfather?'

Sirius grinned, 'I think it's brilliant, we'll tell him during the holidays.'

'Okay, but I wish he would find someone, it's the only thing left really, his own wife and more children.'

'I think he will love, he's been wary of people for so long, I believe he's just taking his time. You know, it wouldn't surprise me if he ends up with a muggle. Most people know he's Harry Potter's uncle and has custody of Harry. People could try to get close to him for his son.'

'Yes, they could, maybe we should plan a few nights out in a muggle club or something. Once he's used to going out, especially to those places he might just decide to go out alone.'

'Let's plan a night out during the holidays, then go from there. I know he won't want to leave the school too often, but he knows the rest of the staff will look after the kids. So he will go out occasionally, hopefully it will end up with him going out and finding someone for himself. He's a great father to Harry, but he deserves to have a family of his own.'

'He does. And if he does find a muggle woman that ends up his wife, I could see her working here as well. Evan did mention adding more muggle subjects.'

'He did, maybe you're right. We'll just have to wait and see. For all we know Evan might find some witch that isn't impressed with who his nephew is.'

'Either way, as long as he's happy.'

'He's getting there love. Like you said, there's just one thing left, for him to find the perfect woman and have more children.'

Sirius and Marlene continued to watch Evan as he watched the students. Sirius did feel bad that he could never tell his wife the truth about who Evan was. But they had only been together for three years now, so maybe in a few years Evan might remove the oath from Sirius just so he could confide in his wife. They had time and he knew Marlene would understand once she heard the full story. For now he wanted to just enjoy the fact that his wife was about to have their first child.
