Chapter III
"Yo. I'm Aizawa Perseus, but you all can call me 'Percy'."
"Now, are there any questions for Aizawa-kun?" the teacher asked the class and several hands shot up, mostly girls.
"Uh. Yes?" Percy said as he pointed at one of the students whose quirk wasn't distinguishable by sight alone.
"Are you single?" she asked and Percy was rather uncomfortable with the question. He understood well enough that he was physically the same age as the class, but he was five years their senior mentally. Regardless of his acceptance of his lost love with Annabeth, the thought of dating someone five years younger at this point in time was cringeworthy.
He guessed that he should've expected the question. He knew that he wasn't an unattractive guy by any means, but he also never cared for that sort of thing anyways. As such, he gave her a strained smile that most of the class was too oblivious to notice and answered.
"I am, but I don't plan on pursuing anything like that for quite a while."
Percy went through a few more questions about why he had transferred instead of starting at the beginning of the year and where he was from originally before an ash blonde haired boy in the front spoke up.
"Oi extra!" he shouted and Percy raised an amused eyebrow at the ruby-eyed kid, figuring he'd play the arrogant kid's game. He reminded Percy too much of Ares and his brood and they were fun to tease.
"Yes, Pomeranian-kun?" Percy replied in a mocking tone. The class was relatively silent with a few quiet snickers mixed in. No one had ever talked to Bakugo so casually or even dared to tease him like Percy had.
"WHAT'D YOU CALL ME?!" Bakugo roared and leapt on top of his desk. The entire scene was so hilarious to Percy that he let out a genuine chuckle.
"Well, you gave me a cute nickname so I figured I'd do the same," Percy replied and then noticed how the boy's palms began popping in agitation.
'Some kind of explosion quirk then. I can feel the sweat on his palms; that must be the trigger,' Percy mused.
"Although with those little sparklers in your hands, I guess Firecracker-kun would be more appropriate, ne?"
The class couldn't contain their laughter anymore after that. The braver ones openly laughed while the girls giggled into their hands and guys snickered under their breaths.
Midoriya even cracked a small smile at the jab.
Bakugo, on the other hand, nearly went ballistic before the teacher cleared his throat. Reigning in his temper and clicking his teeth, Bakugo asked his question.
"What's your damn quirk?"
Midoriya perked up at the question and opened to a new page in his notebook. He was already curious before the new kid started to tease Bakugo of all people and he leaned forward to get ready to write.
"My quirk? I don't really know why that matters, but it's called 'Sea God's Wrath'. It lets me manipulate water down to the molecular level," Percy said with a shrug of his shoulders.
LINEBREAK
'He can manipulate water down to the molecular level?! That's crazy strong! That means he can probably manipulate solid and gas phases of water like steam, mist, fog, and ice! How much can he control? What distance can he control it at? Can he make it take any shape? Can he *mumble mumble*,' were Midoriya's thoughts that he unfortunately hadn't realized began to spill from his mouth at a low volume as his hand scrambled across the page of his notebook.
He was so caught up in his musings, that he didn't hear the teacher or notice that the class turned to look at him again.
"-Oriya! Midoriya!" the teacher's voice cut through his muttering and he let out an extremely nervous "eep!"
"That's alright, sensei," Percy said with a kind chuckle. "I think I can figure out who I'm supposed to sit next to."
Midoriya flushed in embarrassment as the class snickered and Percy walked over to sit in the desk next to him. Immediately after sitting down, Percy turned to the green-haired boy and gave him a genuine lopsided smile.
"Nice to meet ya, Shrub Head. Call me Percy."
Midoriya didn't really know what to do. It was the first time in admittedly a long time that someone his own age genuinely interacted with him and was friendly to boot. Even as his mouth hung open slightly and he didn't reply, Percy just smiled even wider.
'Gods. It's just like Grover all over again,' Percy thought in thorough amusement. Eventually, Midoriya got his wits about him.
"N-Nice to meet y-you, Percy-kun," he said back and Percy's lips adopted a kind yet faint smile, but his eyes seemed to smile too even though they were closed. It was bizarre.
With the introductions done, class got underway, but Midoriya's thoughts were primarily focused on the new nice boy next to him. It really put his quirklessness into perspective since a virtual stranger had been nicer to him just a few minutes than anyone else had been to him(save his mother) since he was four.
It was a pleasant feeling. He didn't feel useless or inferior or even judged. He felt rather relaxed and safe in Percy's presence and it shaped the day up to be one of the better ones; better than he'd had in a long time anyway. That was until his negative thoughts broke through to the surface again.
'He doesn't know your quirkless. He'll avoid you just like everyone else has,' his thoughts told him and dampened his mood again. He didn't notice, but Percy picked up on it and chose to observe more before he acted.
They both were just trying to get through the day for entirely different reasons.
LINEBREAK
The last bell of the day finally rang out and jolted Percy's consciousness a little bit. He hadn't fallen asleep, but he certainly wasn't at full bars during the last half of the final class.
Now more awake than earlier, Percy leaned back in his seat and stared at the ceiling, cursing Rat Satan in English, Latin, and Greek all in his head for effectively sending him back to school.
His first middle school experience was a nightmare and he wasn't holding out hope this time around. At least he had another Grover for this year and the next. He smiled wistfully at the thought.
With another sigh, he rose from his desk and packed up his bag. There were a few others in the room, but he decided to wait for Midoriya. He had heard most of the kid's muttering about his "quirk" and wanted to ask him about the notebook.
"Hey Shrub He-," "OI! DEKU!" the pomeranian shouted, making the boy flinch harshly.
"K-Kaachan," Midoriya said fearfully and Percy felt a twinge of pity for the boy. However, he remembered standing up for Grover the first time around and it turned out to be one of the best decisions of his life, so why not do it this time around too?
"LIST-," Bakugo started whatever he needed to say, but Percy got Midoriya's attention instead.
"Ne, Shrub Head? What was that notebook I saw you writing in earlier today?" Percy asked and the kid turned bashful again.
"O-Oh! It's my Hero Analysis notebook! I take notes on heroes and quirks I find interesting and try to figure out their limits and weaknesses and what not," Midoriya told him and Percy gave him another smile. Before he could continue the conversation, Bakugo interrupted again, but towards Percy this time.
"Oi extra! Why are you talking to a useless shitty Deku?!" he roared and Percy tilted his head in confusion.
"Deku?" he asked, noticing the person in question flinch, but he didn't comment.
"Ya! That worthless nerd is quirkless! He's below you and all the other extras!" Bakugo smirked viciously in victory, only to have the wind pulled from his sails moments later.
"Is that so?" Percy hummed aloud and Midoriya put his head down in preparation for the same treatment he had received for nearly a decade.
"So you're a quirksist bastard, ne Pomeranian-kun?"
Midoriya's head snapped up to Percy so fast that his neck popped, but Percy didn't pay him any mind. Instead, he started to walk slowly toward Bakugo.
"I don't associate with quirksist assholes. If you would kindly leave me and Bush Head to our conversation, I would appreciate it," Percy said far too sweetly for anyone to think he was genuinely asking and tilted his head to the side with a closed-eye smile.
Bakugo's vicious smirk morphed into a scowl of hatred at the "extra" who was talking back to him and his hands started popping with explosions.
Percy noticed immediately and returned both his head and his smile to neutral as he narrowed his eyes. The tone that carried from his mouth was firm and warning.
"If you're going to start something Firecracker-kun, then you better hope you can finish it."
The two had a stare down for several beats of silence before Bakugo clicked his teeth and left, muttering "whatever" under his breath.
LINEBREAK
Midoriya couldn't believe what he just witnessed. First, someone actually stood up to Bakugo. Second, Bakugo actually backed off without a fight, and finally, said person was defending him. Even after he heard that he was quirkless!
He was so awed by the events that just occurred that he didn't notice Percy trying to get his attention until Percy flicked his forehead.
"Ow," Midoriya murmured and Percy chuckled a bit when he rubbed the spot on his forehead.
"Sorry about that Bush Head. I thought I'd lost you there," Percy said with a smile, one that Midoriya returned with more enthusiasm than earlier that day.
"Bush Head?" Midoriya asked with a visible question mark above his head and Percy chuckled again.
"Yeah. Your hair looks like a bush or a shrub and I figured it's a better nickname than what the pomeranian came up with. 'Extra'? He's not very creative, is he?" Percy asked with a smile and got one in return from Midoriya.
Midoriya finished packing up his things and the two left together. Neither of them said a word until they got to the gates of the school; some of the last people to leave for the day.
If it was an awkward silence, neither of them commented on it, but Percy figured it would be best to not force the kid into conversation.
"Err. Thank you, Percy-kun," Midoriya said softly, but Percy waved him off.
"Don't mention it. I don't like bullies or racists. Or quirksists. He's got it out for you pretty badly though. Why's that?" Percy asked and Midoriya retreated in on himself again, making Percy raise an eyebrow.
"K-Kacchan is," he started to say but Percy cut him off by gently raising his head to meet his eyes. Midoriya would be ashamed to admit he got lost in them briefly before Percy spoke.
"First, raise your head when you're speaking to me. I am not above you or better than you; we're just two human beings. We're equal. Second, don't give that asshole a nickname. If he treats you like that, then you aren't friends and only friends get nicknames."
'Equals?' Midoriya thought and started to hope that he had finally found a friend.
"K-Kacc- I mean B-Bakugo and I have known e-each other since we were in d-diapers. When he got his q-quirk and I-I didn't, h-he… I still want to be a hero, but he and e-everyone else," Midoriya stuttered through his explanation, but trailed off and looked down before looking at Percy again.
"They say I can't be a hero without a quirk," he finally said and Percy hummed.
"Well that's stupid."
The blunt delivery made Midoriya flinch and look down at his shoes again as he felt tears gathering in his eyes. He felt stupid. He had hoped that the first person to defend him since his diagnosis would say the words he so desperately wanted to-
"Of course you don't need a quirk to be a hero."
Midoriya's head snapped up to Percy for the second time that day as his mouth hung open in disbelief.
'D-Did I hear that right?' he questioned himself.
"You'd have to work at least 10 times harder than everyone else, but it's possible," Percy said and the tears started to flow down Midoriya's cheeks.
He couldn't believe it. Everyone, even his own mother, hadn't believed in him. They all told him to give up. They all told him that it was impossible; that he'd just get in the way.
But a single person he had known for a single school day did the opposite. He couldn't help but to cry; they just weren't tears of sadness this time.
"But if you're going to be a hero, we're going to have to start training," Percy told him and he blanched in confusion.
"H-Huh?"
"Well yeah. No offense Shrub Head, but you've known you're quirkless since you were four and still wanted to be a hero. You've known you'd be at a disadvantage for a long time, but you haven't even tried to prepare for it; to train your body or learn to fight," Percy said bluntly and Midoriya started to fold in on himself again.
"Don't worry though. We have about two years before the U.A. Entrance Exams. That's plenty of time to fix both of those mistakes, but it's going to be incredibly hard, so are you sure you're up for it?" Percy said and laid a hand firmly on Midoriya's shoulder. Midoriya looked up to see absolute seriousness in Percy's eyes.
There was no pity, disgust, or any indication that he was lying. Steeling his resolve, Midoriya clenched his fist tightly, his eyes burning with determination, and nodded firmly.
"Yes. I'll do whatever it takes."
Percy looked him in the eyes for a moment longer to make sure that he didn't waver. When he didn't Percy nodded and patted his shoulder.
"Good," Percy told him and then grinned ferally at the shrub head, making him swallow thickly.
"Because hell starts tomorrow after school."
LINEBREAK
Percy had discovered the garbage dump beach later the day he had met Midoriya and had Aizawa (probably Nezu) schedule dumpsters to be dropped off and picked up once a week so Midoriya could clean the beach as the core of his strength training.
For the first few months, Percy had Midoriya focus solely on cleaning four days a week (due to school) to build a base level of strength in his body and paired it with routine body weight exercises that slowly increased as time went on, along with a better diet. As much as Percy knew that technique and strategy would best strength 9/10 times, he needed Midoriya to establish some strength first before he began to train him in combat.
Once combat training began, Percy immediately recognized that Midoriya's build was similar to his own but a little more lanky. As such, he recommended that Midoriya focus on kicks more than punches, but still taught him everything he learned from both Kage and Aizawa's training.
On weekends, Midoriya would spend half of the day cleaning to build strength and the other half of the day working on his combat. It was more hellish than Midoriya had anticipated. Everyday his muscles would burn and ache in pain, but he never gave up.
As time went on, combat training became more of a priority than the cleaning, but the cleaning was done at a steady enough pace to build more strength while still allowing him to train in combat effectively. Midoriya even continued to increase the body weight exercises he'd do himself, going so far as to add weights to his runs, and Percy started to train him in swordsmanship, but it was a slow process.
Of course, this didn't mean that Percy was slacking off in his own training. He continued to spar with Aizawa and push the limits of his abilities (firstly perfecting vapor travel because of its usefulness) and swordsmanship, even picking up a new technique indirectly from three more friends he made.
Flashback
Percy was alone in Gym Gamma at U.A. taking a quick rest from his calisthenics exercises of push ups, sit ups, and handstand push ups, and cardio (all weighted with 25 kilos total) before switching over to his water abilities when three people entered the gym.
He sensed them at the door, but didn't bother to acknowledge them until then walked toward him and called out to him.
"Eh, excuse me? How did you get in here?" one of them asked and Percy turned around to see a Tin Tin look-a-like with blonde callicked hair and pupiless blue eyes. He had a solid build, bulkier than Percy in his home world, and numerous scars on his hands and arms.
Percy took a moment to look at the other two. One was a beautiful young woman with periwinkle blue hair and eyes and seemed to be vibrating in place with energy. He recognized that look briefly from the young demigods who wanted to ask him all sorts of questions.
The last boy that completed the trio had dark blue hair and elvish ears, but was shaking in place; a stark contrast from his female counterpart.
'They must be older students,' Percy mused and turned his attention back to the blonde.
"I walked through the gate and then the halls," Percy deadpanned, but the blonde's slightly irritating smile didn't waver in the slightest. If the laugh he let out was anything to go by, he was more amused.
"Of course! I mean what are you doing here? You don't look old enough to be in school here," he said and Percy sighed.
"I'm training. My old man works here and Rat Satan let's me train here," Percy told him. That seemed to break whatever dam was holding back the girl's questions.
"Wow! You're training here and so young! Your dad works here? Who is he? Is he a teacher? Did you mean the principal? What's your quirk? You have really pretty eyes!" she rambled and got progressively closer to his face as she did so.
Percy karate chopped her softly on the head to get her to shut up, making the blonde laugh again and the other boy shift on his feet uncomfortably before answering her questions.
"I'm maybe two years younger than you. Yes he does. He's the grumpy caterpillar teacher. Yes, the principal; we're friends. My quirk is 'Sea God's Wrath. Thank you," he answered each easily, surprising the two boys. Before she could rattle off another dozen questions, the quiet one spoke up for the first time.
"N-Nejire I-I think t-that's enough," he said softly and prompted for the blonde to take over.
"It's awesome to see you training your POOWWEERRR! We have the gym reserved, but we don't mind sharing!" he exclaimed with a fist pump and another smile. Percy raised an eyebrow.
"Bold of you to assume that your reservation would make me leave. It's after school hours and Rat Satan gave me the all clear, but whatever," Percy said and walked back over to his stuff.
Unfortunately, the girl followed him.
"Is Aizawa-sensei really your dad? What does your quirk do? Are you plann-," she started up again, but Percy cut her off with a sigh.
"Yes. To save time and move this along, I could use a spar right now. Interested?" Percy asked and the three looked uneasily at each other.
"Err. Well, we wouldn't want to-," the blonde started to say, but he was cut off by another voice from the door.
"You won't hurt him, Togata. Problem Child's plenty strong," Aizawa said as he walked in with Nezu on his shoulder.
Percy groaned at the sight of the two. "You set this up didn't you, Rat Satan?"
"Fufufu. I have no idea what you mean Percy-kun!" Nezu said far too cheerfully for him to be truthful.
Percy just sighed once more and caught the blade Aizawa tossed him, securing it horizontally across his lower back as he always did.
"I'm Aizawa Perseus, but call me 'Percy'. Now, who are you three before we get this spar started," Percy asked and the bubbly girl was the first to go.
"I'm Hado Nejire! My quirk is called 'Wave Motion' and it lets me convert my stamina into energy shockwaves," she said with a bright smile. Percy nodded and smiled in return.
"I'm Togata Mirio! I won't tell you my quirk yet because I want to see if you can figure it out," the blonde introduced himself and Percy turned to the last member.
"I-I'm T-Tamaki A-Amajiki. M-My q-quirk is c-called 'Manifest'. I-I can m-manifest the t-traits of a-animals I e-eat," the nervous boy finished and Percy nodded in a reassuring manner.
"Get set up, you four. We'll call for the match to start," Aizawa said with only Percy going off to get ready.
"Four? Is it a free-for-all?" Nejire asked and got a shit-eating grin from Aizawa and a feral smile from Nezu.
"Nope! A 3v1. The Big Three against Percy-kun!" Nezu announced with a clap of his paws while Percy snorted at the nickname.
"Uh. Principal, are you sure?" Mirio asked, but Percy answered instead.
"He is. Come on I'm getting cold over here," he said with a mocking smirk, one that Mirio copied as the other three settled into their stances.
'Energy shockwaves. She'll be the range fighter. Animal parts. He'll probably be the support, which means Tin Tin will be up close and personal,' Percy thought as he shifted his left foot forward and crouched slightly. His right hand was hovering over the hilt of his kodachi.
"Begin!" Aizawa yelled and Mirio immediately sank into the floor while losing his pants. Nejire took to the skies with her quirk, and Tamaki manifested octopus tentacles for his fingers.
Percy stood stock still analyzing.
'I didn't know she could fly. Togata has some sort of intangibility, and while I can't manipulate the water in his body while it's active, I can track him easily even in the floor.'
Just as Mirio began to emerge from the floor behind him, Percy took off quickly, slightly cracking the ground and certainly catching the others off guard, straight at Tamaki.
In likely surprise and reflex, Tamaki lashed out with his tentacles and Nejire fired shockwaves from above. Percy felt Togata sink into the floor once more, but continued to track him in his subconscious.
Percy weaved around the shockwaves from Nejire without even looking at her, feeling the displacement of the water molecules in the air to know where they were going to hit, and drew his kodachi in a flash. He sliced through all the tentacles that came his way as he continued to dodge and close in on Tamaki.
Just as he got within striking distance, Tamaki shifted the palm of his hand into a clam shell for defense. A defense that Percy didn't get to test as Togata emerged from the ground again at his flank and Nejire fired a shockwave at him.
Percy leapt back several meters to avoid both and the two sides were in a stare down once more.
"How did you dodge me without looking? How did you dodge Mirio?" Nejire asked in excitement, but Percy smirked instead of answering. Instead he switched tactics.
Reaching his left hand out to Nejire, he made a pulling motion toward himself and a geyser of water materialized in the air behind her before launching into her back harshly, and shot her down to the ground.
Completely caught off guard, Nejire groaned on the ground, but Percy closed his fist and the water surrounded her before freezing everything but her head in place.
While that was happening, Togata charged again without going into the ground, but Percy knew where he was as he restrained Nejire.
As Togata was closing in, Percy began to figure that even if he blocked, Togata would phase his punch through it and land a clean strike. Now, Percy had no issues tanking one of those punches, but he was competitive and wanted to win without taking one if he could.
Therefore, he decided to let him close in and instead of blocking, he dodged in a direction to keep Togata between himself and Tamaki to limit the latter's support role. Percy executed as planned, and sheathed his blade as Togata charged again.
'Okay. If I show him the block, then he'll phase through it. I have a small window to catch with my other hand and sweep his feet,' Percy thought.
Identical to his thoughts, Percy lifted his left forearm to block the heavy punch from Togata and it phased right through. Just as the punch was about to clip his jaw, Percy's right hand flashed quickly and caught the punch that would've likely knocked most others out.
Togata's eyes widened, but it was too late. Percy swept his legs out from underneath him and just as Togata started his fall, Percy's left hand gripped Togata's face and Percy slammed him into the ground, cracking the cement a little. Slightly shaken up from the blow to the back of the head, Percy restrained him in ice as well before looking at Tamaki.
Surprisingly, the normally timid boy didn't look frightened in the slightest, but resolved to keep fighting. Percy charged him, drawing his kodachi once more to slice all of the tentacles. Instead of clam shells, Tamaki's hands turned into crab claws to provide offense as well as defense.
It didn't matter to Percy. He showed all evidence of a cross slash and forced Tamaki to block and wait for the counter strike, but it was a feint. Instead, Percy redirected his slash quickly and littered Tamaki's upper arm that wasn't transformed with several small cuts to limit his range of motion.
Tamaki tried to turn and use the momentum of his spin with the other arm while Percy was close, but Percy deflected it with his blade as he ducked underneath the claw into Tamaki's guard where they both stopped moving.
Resting comfortably under Tamaki's chin was a newly materialized ice dagger. Not enough to be a danger, but enough to make its presence known.
"Do you yield?" Percy asked in amusement and Tamaki nodded as much as he could before the dagger evaporated into the air.
Clapping broke out from the principal as Percy sheathed his blade and waved his hand in the other two's directions to unfreeze them.
"Marvelous as always, Percy-kun," Nezu said and Percy snorted.
"You're the one that got me into this mess, Rat Satan," he replied as the other two came over.
"Whoa! How did you do that with the water behind me? And you kept dodging my shockwaves! And you kept dodging Mirio whenever he went into the floor! And you caught his punch! And-," she rambled on even faster than before the spar so Percy chopped her on the head again.
"As you saw my quirk is water manipulation. Water is everywhere like in the air behind you when I knocked you out of the sky, or in the human body when Togata phased through the floor. Normally, water in a person's body feels… different than say the water in the air, but when Togata's quirk is activated I can sense it still but I can't manipulate it," Percy told them and they were a bit surprised at the revelation, but nonetheless excited and impressed.
"That's an insane amount of control. To be able to sense that many separate sources of water all while fighting with a blade," Togata commented, but Percy just shrugged.
"I can't wait until you get into U.A. and become my kohai!" Togata said with a smile that Percy returned with a snort.
Flashback End
After that spar, the four of them chatted and Percy revealed that he didn't do anything besides school and training, so the three of them introduced him to an old pre-quirk anime called One Piece that they were watching together.
Percy binged some of it when he wasn't training and came across an idea for a technique. The main character ate a strange fruit that turned his entire body to rubber and in one of his fights, he utilized the elasticity of his blood vessels, veins, capillaries, etc to rapidly increase his blood flow in parts of his body, carrying more oxygen and nutrients and thus drastically increasing his speed.
Since Percy can manipulate water, including blood, and his demigod biology and physiology is already more durable than most humans and likely a good amount of quirked humans, he tried to do the same. And it worked.
Instead of the glowing pink skin the character from the anime exhibited, Percy's naturally darker skin tone made his rendition of the technique appear as a bronze glow duller than Anaklusmos. He decided to call it "Overdrive" and the Big Three were gobsmacked when they saw it.
Thus, he sought to perfect the technique in his training away from Midoriya before thinking of creating any new ones and would wager himself to be the third fastest hero (or hero in training) behind All Might and Hawks. He knew he'd likely never be faster than All Might, but continued to train it with the goal to surpass Hawks. He kept it a secret from Midoriya for the time being.
Time seemed to pass by quickly and their time at Aldera dwindled with both Percy and Midoriya growing in all aspects as their training continued. Midoriya only progressed further and further in his combat and swordsmanship with Percy's guidance, but was much better versed in the former.
A side effect of the training and friendship that was more of a brotherhood with Percy was a pleasant increase in Midoriya's self confidence. He hardly stuttered unless he was talking to girls (Percy found it hilarious) and most of the former bullies had backed off.
Whenever Bakugo tried to get involved with him (only when Percy wasn't around) Midoriya would just roll his eyes since he picked up some of Percy's sarcasm and sass, and if things got physical, Midoriya would continually dodge around Bakugo's telegraphed attacks until he was out of school grounds. Apparently, Bakugo had a brain after all since he realized how much trouble he could get in without the safety net the school gave him.
Percy himself continued to train on his own to perfect "Overdrive" as well as trying to find some semblance of control in his earthquake and storm abilities. Luckily, Nezu essentially blacklisted the gym site for anyone else to use when Percy desired to do so, both out of fear of discovery and destruction. They even came up with the alibi of "vibrating the water molecules in the ground to simulate an earthquake" just to be safe.
Percy also utilized the U.S.J. facility to get an understanding of how boosted his abilities were while in contact with water. He even found some secret underwater caves in the Shipwreck Zone that he would frequent with vapor travel when he needed a space to himself.
Percy kept in regular contact with the Big Three, occasionally hanging out and training with them and they became pretty fast friends. They never knew the truth about Percy though; neither did Midoriya. However, Percy decided that he could trust them with the information should the need ever arise.
They sympathized with him over the Kage incident though.
That was Midoriya's and Percy's routine as their second year ended and third year fast forwarded by them, continually getting stronger, faster, and better. Midoriya had about half of the beach cleaned with the bulkier pieces of garbage remaining (by Percy's design) and Percy could maintain "Overdrive" for 30 minutes with negligible strain.
But Fate had already been set in motion. To nobody's knowledge, it was set a long time ago yet Percy's arrival added several tweaks - beneficial tweaks.
And for Midoriya Izuku, Fate seemed to make itself known on the last day of Aldera Junior High. The day his hero journey truly began.
Chapter III End
So clearly giving Percy his own equivalent of Second Gear. I get that's it's completely random, but here's my justification (respectfully not that I care. Like I said this story is purely self-indulgent): 1. One Piece was the best example I could think of for Percy to get ideas to use abilities in new ways. For example, he will later train to utilize earthquakes similar to Whitebeard. 2. While Percy is already pretty goddamn OP, his speed would be severally lackluster. "Overdrive" will basically be able to match Deku at around 15% OFA in speed, and maybe 20% as the story progresses and Percy gets stronger. Once Deku hits 25%+, even if Percy knew where the attack was coming from, he'd have a hard time dodging and blocking. "Overdrive" is to bridge that gap.
I've gotten a few PercyxPony ships which I didn't expect, but not against at all. That's truly one of the only aspects I don't have even a hint of an idea about, but keep letting me know!
