Shady Hoe: Thank you for the correction. I just haven't gone back and edited older chapters yet but in later and newer chapters I put Petrov when referring to Gregor.

Blu3b3rryT3a: Yeah Gregor is going to be mad that Amelia was kidnapped with Elena as will La Mai. As to Gregor and Elijah finally meeting after 1,000 years, well guess you'll have to read and find out.

Thank you for your reviews, follows, and Favorites.

Thessaloniki Greece 1453 A.D.

The Byzantine flag burned in the fire as cheers went up around. La Mai stared at it as she stood by Aya. She thought the flames beautiful as it signified the end of an era and what the Strix could achieve. She was glad her father let her come and go as she pleased. It had been four years since she'd left to go on her own. It was outside of Athens that Tristan found her in 1451, and offered her the chance to see history made and to invite her to join the Strix, even though she wasn't of Elijah's bloodline. La Mai knew the real reason he'd asked her to join though. Tristan hoped that if La Mai joined the Strix then Gregor would follow. Having the most powerful vampire outside of the Originals join them would be a boon to the Strix regardless of which bloodline he came from. The female vampire was drawn out of her thoughts by Aya turning and walking away. La Mai turned to follow her.

"Have you made your decision yet?" Aya asked her curiously. She personally didn't think La Mai would say yes. She wasn't one to be tied down by anyone or anything.

"No." La Mai shook her head, "In all honesty I do-" La Mai cut herself off as she saw Aya tense and only a moment later La Mai felt the same presence.

"So you've finally shown yourself?" Aya questioned into the cold and dark night air. The beautiful dark skinned vampire turned around while pulling La Mai behind her.

"Please just listen to me." A male voice pleaded. La Mai looked and saw a man. A man that Aya clearly recognized but she was unsure as to where she knew him from.

"Give me one reason I shouldn't unleash the entire Strix upon you this very instant?" Aya asked as the hand of La Mai's arm tightened.

The man replied smoothly without missing a beat, "Go ahead. A legion of charlatans and thieves." His eyes flickered to La Mai before looking back at Aya, "This wasn't our home. This isn't what we built." And finally it clicked who this was. Elijah Mikealson. At that realization La Mai felt a sliver of fear grip her as she tensed in preparation to run. She'd heard the stories from other vampires and her father.

I'm not on vervain right not La Mai thought in fear, He can make me do whatever he wants and then make me forget and I'd never know. It was one of her worst fears after she heard Tristan and Aurora tell their tale of how Elijah compelled them to believe they were someone else for 112 years. Stole their entire identities. Right when she was about to run Aya looked at her and gave a slight shake of her head. "We had something beautiful. Aya why-how could you possibly follow him?"

"Spare me your condemnations. It was you who abandoned me."

"Come with me." Elijah pleaded with an almost desperate look upon his face.

Aya opened her mouth to reply when she snapped it closed as Tristan appeared.

"Elijah." Tristan greeted looking over briefly at La Mai where a flicker of concern appeared in his blue eyes as he saw how frightened she looked. La Mai felt some of her fear leave as she knew that Tristan wouldn't let anything happen to her even if only to not have to deal with her father's rage. "Come to win back a lost love? Or does the delinquent shepherd intend to reclaim his lost flock?"

"I want nothing to do with these ignorant sheep or the wolf that leads them." Elijah replied coldly, disdain flashing over his face the moment he heard Tristan's voice.

Tristan seemed unconcerned but to La Mai and Aya who both knew him outside of the persona he put out to the Strix, it was obvious that he was quite fearful of Elijah to which neither could blame him due to what had happened centuries ago. "We are only as we were made by our sire. Afterall it was you who taught me to never be weak again. Now that Constantinable has fallen, the roman empire is no more. My Strix endured beyond even that which was deemed eternal. In time there will be no place on Earth where our influence is not felt. Not even the Mikaelsons wield that power." Many other members of the Strix appeared behind Tristan ready to move at a moment's notice, though personally La Mai thought it wouldn't do any good if Elijah did turn hostile. If that did happen she was going to run without looking back. If there was anything her father instilled in her, it was self-preservation.

"You are a disgrace to this legacy!" Elijah spat in contempt, "You've chosen gluttony and power over mastery of knowledge."

"The legacy you left was cowardice." Tristan replied, uncaring of Elijah's opinion of the organization that he'd created then abandoned. "Slaughtered bodies of those you sired. Poor souls who built their reality on your lies."

"You poisoned them Tristan." Elijah said quietly though everyone could hear due to the enhanced hearing of vampires, "You've reduced them to this."

"Weren't you the one who abandoned the Strix with your tail between your legs." La Mai murmured, unable to help herself even though she really should have stayed silent, though everyone heard it. Elijah briefly turned and looked at her before ignoring her, deeming her insignificant.

Tristan shook his head in response to Elijah's accusation though there was a flicker of amusement in his eyes at La Mai's words "Salvation. I merely told them they were better than the refuse their creator had deemed them."

Aya spoke up, letting go of La Mai's arm, "You have no place here." Elijah turned to look at her with resignation written on his face. Aya walked up to Elijah and put a hand on his face, "If you ever cared for me, you will leave us." She dropped her hand.

Rather than reply to Aya, Elijah spoke to Tristan, "Take them Tristan. Take them all. They're already lost." He walked past Aya and quickly left as they all watched him go.

The memory of meeting Elijah would forever be ingrained in La Mai's memories. If only she knew that speaking at all in that meeting meant he'd remember her the next time they met.

"Are you watching Cold Case?" La Mai asked her father, "What's wrong? You only watch that show when you're stressed."

"Amelia didn't come home last night." Gregor spoke without taking his eyes off the TV.

"She didn't send any texts?"

"No."

La Mai rolled her eyes. "I'm sure you're overreacting. Maybe she got lucky last night." As if on cue there was a knock on the door. Gregor turned off the Television and got up to answer the door with La Mai on his heels. On the other side was Stefan and Damon. "Ugh you two. Can't we have one day without something happening.

"Elena's missing."

Gregor turned and looked at La Mai with a slightly smug look even though she could tell he was extremely worried. "What did I tell you?"

La Mai sighed in exasperation, "I'll never doubt you again."

Amelia had the lovely experience of having her neck repeatedly snapped throughout the night and well into the morning. When she woke up it was to see a vampire leaning over Elena with a hungry look on his face. She quickly sprung into action and was across the room in a split second and threw the male vampire away as veins spring up beneath her eyes. She moved to attack but was slammed into a wall from another vampire with a hand in her chest squeezing her heart.

"Please don't hurt her!" Elena pleaded, "She was only trying to protect me."

The female vampire took her hand out of Amelia's chest and looked towards Elena "You look just like her." She said as Amelia gathered herself quickly before flashing to stand in a defensive stance next to Elena ready to protect the fragile human at a moment's notice. If she died under her watch her father and sister would never let her hear the end of it especially with how important she was to their future plans.

"But I'm not! Please, whatever you-"

Be quiet!" The woman snapped.

"But I'm not Katherine. My name is Elena Gilbert; you-" Elena was cut off by Amelia.

"She knows." Elena turned towards her with a questioning look, "She kidnapped you and inadvertently me on purpose. She intends to either give us to someone or trade us to pay off a debt."

"You should listen to your friend." The woman said.

""But what do you want?" Elena questioned again rather stupidly.

The female vampire scowled before smacking Elena clean across the face hard enough to knock her out. "I want you to be quiet." She turned to leave ignoring Amelia's glare.

"How's the girl?"

"You didn't touch her, did you?"

"Give me some credit. Besides, if I tried her friend would have tried to rip my head off. So, you called him?"

"No, I called one of his contacts. You know how this works."

"Did you or did you not get the message to Elijah?" At the name Amelia sat up straighter in fear. Bringing an original here? That was a bad idea. Especially Elijah, it might be an unpopular choice but she'd rather deal with Klaus than Elijah. At least with Klaus you knew what you were getting. Elijah? He was someone who could make you forget he was a vampire until he ripped out your heart.

"They say he got it."

"Wonderful and what?" Elena woke up and looked over at Amelia who shook her head and put a finger to her lips to indicate to her to be quiet. Elena nodded then got up and walked upstairs to listen to the conversation of their kidnappers. Amelia rolled her eyes in exasperation. That is not what she meant.

"So that's it Trevor. He either got it or he didn't. We just have to wait."

"Look, it's not too late! We can leave them here. We don't have to go through with this."

"I'm sick of running!"

"Yeah? Well, running keeps us from dying."

"Elijah's old school. If he accepts our deal, we're free." Amelia snorted. Maybe Elijah might stop hunting them but too many overestimate the influence Elijah has on Klaus not to mention that to anyone who keeps tabs on the Originals, it's common knowledge that Elijah and Klaus had a fallout a few decades back.

These two aren't very smart Amelia thought. Elena accidentally made a noise which drew attention towards her. "Who's Elijah?"

"He's your worst nightmare."

"Caroline" Tyler's voice drew the blonde haired vampire's attention as she walked down the hall.

"Hey. How are you doing?" Caroline greeted the new werewolf.

"Not good."

"How's your mom? My mother said that she was pretty freaked out about everything that happened with Sarah."

"How did you know?" Tyler asked, ignoring Caroline's question.

"What do you mean?" Caroline asked in feigned cofusioon hoping he didn't see through it. She had just pretty much been threatened by Damon and by god did his presence around her make her skin crawl. She just needed to keep Tyler off her trail until Gregor and La Mai returned from rescuing Elena and Amelia.

"About me." Tyler clarified unnecessarily, "How did you know."

Caroline brushed the actual question off. "Know what? That you were upset? I thought I was doing a good thing by covering for you."

"That's not what I'm talking about." Tyler said in slight frustration.

"Look, it was an accident, okay? I have to go, please don't blame yourself." Caroline walked away leaving Tyler standing by himself in the school hallway.

Gregor and La Mai were in the back of Damon's car, both bored out of their mind with one thought. They should have taken Gregor's car rather than deal with the Salvatores.

Gregor snapped back to the Salvatore brother's conversation after Stefan asked who they thought took her.

Damon answered "Someone's from Katherine's past. She said she was running from someone. They got the wrong girl."

"No they didn't" Gregor interjected, turning both the baby vampire's attention towards him, "Katerina was wanted for the face she wears, not anything specific about her. And no vampire or witch that is remotely competent would not be able to tell that Elena is human. Whoever took her knew exactly who they were taking. The human doppelganger."

"You don't seem very worried." Stefan observed the older vampire over making him scoff.

"I'm very worried but I trust my daughter to keep herself and Elena alive until we get there. She isn't an idiot."

Stefan turned back to Damon resuming their conversation to which Gregor mostly tuned out, uncaring of both of them. He could care less about the infatuation they had with the face of his sister. Gregor couldn't say he had any particular care for Elena but she was still only a teenager so he didn't want her harmed, plus he needed her for later, even if he did feel a small twinge of guilt at using someone so young and wearing the face of his sister.

Amelia getting kidnapped with Elena was a complication and just another reason why he didn't want anyone he cared about involved in this annoying supernatural drama. He knew he couldn't rely on his foreknowledge as he for one didn't remember everything and two, he knew that him running around for the last thousand years had caused a butterfly effect whether he wished it or not.

"Hey...um are you okay?" Caroline asked as Tyler walked up to her ignoring the game he'd been playing.

"You lied to me earlier. Why?" He demanded.

"Tyler, I think you misunderstood me at the party. I get it, it was very traumatic." Caroline said carefully, wanting to quickly get out of this situation.

"You're lying." Tyler said.

"No I'm not. I'm late, I have to go." She turned to leave-

A hand grabbed her arm. "Hey." She heard from Tyler but all that she could focus on were the memories of Damon coming to the front of her mind. She reacted without thinking, only wanting the male hand off of her, grabbing Tyler's arm and twisting it and then throwing him to the ground. "How did you... You're stronger than me"? Tyler's face twisted in confusion. Caroline ignored his question turning and leaving quickly, skipping what she had planned to go to Gregor's house to have a moment to breakdown over what was done to her with Damon, everything just now really hitting her now as she finally accepted what he'd done to her and the betrayal she feels over Elena being around him after what she'd done. The betrayal she felt that Bonnie felt the need to threaten her before giving her a daylight ring which she knows Bonnie would never do if it was Elena in her situation. Caroline just really needed a day to herself.

"Why are we here?" Elena asked once again. Amelia rolled her eyes. There were better ways to get that information.

"You keep asking these questions like I'm going to answer them." The woman who had still not given her name responded.

"Why won't you?"

"There's another one." The woman rolled her eyes.

"Well you have us both. We aren't going anywhere. The least you can do is tell us what you want with us." Elena responded crossing her arms over her chest

"With you Elena." Amelia drawled. "I have never seen these two in my life so they aren't one of my enemies or my families. I can guarantee you that whatever they want has to do with you. I'm just collateral damage."

"She's right. She was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Now with you? Personally, I want nothing. I'm just a delivery source."

"To Elijah?" Elena questioned

"Two points to the eavesdropper." The woman rolled her green eyes.

"Who is he? A vampire?"

Amelia spoke up before the other female vampire could, "He's one the originals. One of the most dangerous vampires in the world."

"Originals? What do you mean by originals?" Elena asked in confusion, "Like one of the first vampires to exist original?"

"Haven't the Salvatores or your friend here been teaching you your vampire history?"

"Don't look at me. I literally just met her before you kidnapped us." Amelia said in boredom, "I know my dad and sister were waiting to deal with Katherine before telling her everything she needed to know about being a doppelganger."

The woman looked at Amelia before musing, "So you know your vampire history at least."

Amelia rolled her eyes, "I'm 466 years old. It would be pretty pathetic to not know about the originals by this point. I'm Amelia by the way since we haven't introduced ourselves."

"Rose." The woman responded, "Do the Salvatores not know their history?"

"From what I've seen? No. They are pretty ignorant. Didn't even know werewolves existed until a few months ago." Amelia said, "In all honesty, I get the impression they are lucky idiots which is why they are still alive."

"So you know Stefan and Damon?" Elena asked curiously and full of questions.

"I know of them. A hundred years back a friend of mine tried to set me up with Stefan. She said he was one of the good one. I've always been more of a sucker for the bad boys though but I digress." Rose answered.

"Ugh Damon's a rapist so you better not take up with him or I'll lose all respect for you and Stefan is too broody to be considered relationship material. The man never laughs or smiles from what I've seen." Amelia said quietly under her breath so only Rose would hear her. She looked at her curiously.

"So aside from being the first vampires, who exactly are the originals?" Elena asked before Rose could respond to Amelia.

Rose sighed, "Trevor and I have been running for over 500 years, we're tired, we want it over. We're using you to negotiate ourselves out of this mess."

"Why specifically me?" Elena asked, before realization hit her, "it's because I'm a doppelganger isn't it?"

"So you're not entirely uneducated." Rose commented, "As the Petrova doppelganger, you're the key to breaking the curse."

"The curse?" Elena said, "The sun and the moon curse?"

"Yes."

"What do you mean I'm the key?" Elena questioned in confusion and dread, "The moonstone is what breaks the curse."

"No Elena," Amelia started gently, "The moonstone is what binds the curse, the sacrifice is what breaks it."

"The sacrifice?"

"The blood of the doppelganger." Rose said, "You're the doppelganger, which means in order to break the curse, you're the one who has to die."

"Tell me more." Elena all but demanded.

"Captivity has made her pushy huh? What do you want to know doppelicious?" Trevor asked as he walked into the room and covered one of the windows to block the sun. It was obvious neither had daylight jewelry which was weird to Amelia. Though she supposed she was rather spoiled as she had never had to go without daylight jewelry, unlike many vampires.

"Why were you running from the originals?" Elena asked.

"They made them mad if I were to guess. Those who make an enemy out of the originals usually don't live long enough to regret it." Amelia said while inspecting her nails out of boredom.

Trevor cleared his throat, "I pissed them off, Rose had my back and for half a millennium, they wanted us dead."

You mean Elijah and Klaus wanted you dead. Amelia thought. Kol never cared much for killing those who pissed off his brothers. He'd probably give them a medal or something and pretend he didn't see them. And from what I know of her, Rebekah wouldn't have actively looked for them but would have probably killed them if she saw them.

"What did you do?" Elena asked.

"Ah." Amelia said in realization, "He helped Katherine Pierce escape her fate. Didn't you?" She addressed Trevor.

"He made the mistake many have. He trusted Katerina Petrova." Rose nodded.

"The one and only. The first Petrova doppelganger."

"I helped her escape her fate and now we've been marked ever since." Trevor explained

"Which is why we're not going to make the same mistake again." Rose said, looking at Elena.

Fifteen minutes later Elena showed a note to Amelia that said "Stefan, Damon, La Mai, and Gregor are coming after you two. -B"

Rose went to open the door for Elijah while Amelia and Elena waited. If Amelia was feeling merciful she would have told Rose to watch hers and Elijah's words when talking but she wasn't. After all they kidnapped her and Elena and were prepared to hand them over so she was feeling a little vengeful. Amelia as a vampire could have listened to the conversation taking place between Elijah and Rose but she could guess what was going to be talked about so she saw no need to eavesdrop and thus ignored them and gave Elena a reassuring smile.

A minute later a brown- haired man that could only be Elijah appeared at the top of the staircase. Elijah took one look and flashed to stand in front of Elena. "Human. It's impossible. Hello there." He turned and looked at Amelia, "Who are you?"

"Amelia. A pleasure ,truly, to meet the famous noble Elijah." Amelia said somewhat mocking him to which Elijah's lips flickered up in amusement. It wasn't often that someone had the courage to mock him to his face.

"We have a long journey ahead of us. We should get going." Elijah said, "One last piece of business and then we're done." He moved towards where Trevor stood as Elena quickly moved towards Amelia.

"I've waited so long for this day, Elijah, I'm truly, very sorry." Trevor said, pleading and so very afraid of the man in front of him.

"Oh no, your apologies are not necessary." Elijah reassured though Amelia was certain this was going to end up with Trevor dead.

"Yes it is. You trusted me with Katerina and I failed you."

"Oh yes, you are the guilty one and Rose aided you because she was loyal to you and that now I honor. Where was your loyalty?" Elijah questioned.

I beg your forgiveness." Trevor begged in fear.

"So granted." Elijah said simply. Trevor started to smile when his head was knocked clean off by Elijah. Rose cried out in shock and grief while Elena clutched at Amelia's arm. Amelia showed no outward reaction as she was honestly indifferent to Trevor's death.

"You!" Rose cried, taking a step forward before being interrupted by Elijah.

""Don't ,Rose, now that you are free." He looked over to Amelia and Elena, "Come."

Elena was about to open her mouth when Amelia grabbed her arm and shook her head, "Don't we have nothing to truly bargain with." Trying to make her understand not to give away all the cards in her deck trying to negotiate with no real upper hand. Elena frowned but decided to go along with Amelia for now. "And how are we supposed to know you won't harm us? You're an original. We'd be stupid to trust you."

Elijah smiled in amusement, "I could always force you to come. And it would be much more unpleasant for you as I'm sure you're aware." The sound of breaking glass was heard upstairs. "What was that?" He demanded of Rose.

"I don't know."

"Who else is in this house?"

"I don't know."

Elijah quickly grabs both Amelia and Elena before flashing them upstairs. He tossed Elena into Rose's arms while letting go of Amelia, trusting that she wouldn't be stupid enough to run. "Rose."

"I don't know who it is." Rose shakily responded. In the next moment all three women disappeared from Elijah's view.

"Excuse me. To whom it may concern, you're making a great mistake if you think you can beat me. You can't ." Elijah said while breaking a coat rack into a stake.

"Hello Elijah." A female voice said. A woman he recognized even after so many centuries. One he admittedly would have mostly forgotten if she hadn't spoken when she had.

"You." Elijah started, "I remember you. What exactly has the Strix interested in the doppelganger?" Now he wished he had her name. She was so very different from how he remembered, no longer cowering in fear of him. Though it was quite possible that it was arrogance and she assumed that just because she wasn't a young vampire she could take him on and win.

"Nothing. This is a personal interest." She assured him not wanting him to go down the rabbit hole of thinking the Strix were involved, "We never got to introduce ourselves over 500 years ago. I'm La Mai."

"You're no longer cowering in fear of me." Elijah states, "Though I haven't decided whether I like this confidence you have. You don't actually think you can beat me do you? You're not a young vampire, that's true, but I believe we both know that I am older, which means faster and stronger. So why don't you give me the girls before heads roll, most likely yours?" He suggested almost kindly.

La Mai smirked before flashing down to stand unflinching in front of Elijah. "I don't need to beat you, Elijah. All I had to do was distract you and it worked."

"What are yo-"Elijah was cut off as a stake appeared out of his chest, impaled through his heart. Elijah turned grey with veins appearing on his face as he fell to the floor showing Gregor as being the one who staked him.

"Well…" Gregor drawled, "That was fun." Amelia quickly flashed forwards into her father's waiting arms with La Mai joining their group hug barely a second later.

Rose took a look at Elijah's body before taking off. Damon made to follow before Elena stopped him. "Just let her go please." She looked at Gregor, "Thank you."

"Your welcome." Gregor replies before looking at them all, "Go home. We'll get rid of the body."

"Are you sure?" Stefan asked.

"Yes."

After the Salvatore brothers and Elena were gone it was silent for a few minutes as the stared at Elijah who they all knew wasn't dead. Gregor spoke up, "So do you want to tell me how you know Elijah, La Mai?"

"Oh god you're using your dad voice." La Mai groaned.

"He's right though." Amelia said, "How did you two know each other? He recognized you. And mentioned the Strix like you were a part of it when you're not."

"We met in 1453, in Greece." La Mai answered after a moment of silence, "I was with the Strix at that time. He came to speak to Aya. He must have assumed I was a member. I was terrified meeting him." She recalled, "All I could remember was you telling me how he had killed you when you were human and Tristan and Aurora telling their tale of how he compelled them and made them lose their entire identities."

"Why didn't you ever tell me? Amelia told us after she encountered Kol." Gregor asked.

"I didn't want to worry you. I know that out of all the originals you are the least fond and fearful of Elijah. I didn't want you to worry over how your daughter had met him." La Mai replied. By the time she had met her father again in 1476, it also didn't seem very relevant as it had happened over twenty years previous.

"Well let's go home then and hope that you being seen with the Strix doesn't come back and bite us in the ass." Gregor sighed

"I resent that."

Hours later Elijah woke up and ripped the stake out of his heart. La Mai had certainly changed from their last meeting. If he wasn't angry over being staked and the Strix possibly involving themselves with the doppelganger, he'd be impressed. If the Strix was involved he'd have to be cautious. After all most of their members were ancient, not to mention the witch coven that the Strix had at their disposal. An original he may be but invincible he was not. He'd have to plan.

And that wraps up this chapter! The La Mai in the flashback is younger, just about to enter her 100th year as a vampire and not as sure of herself as the confident woman she is in the present.

I felt so nervous writing Elijah. I wasn't sure whether I'd get him right. I am still unsure of him in this chapter. In the flashback he is different because while the Elijah in the present would most likely have killed all the Stix, the Elijah of the 1400s was more merciful and less quick to kill. And yes Amelia was acquainted with Kol in the early 1900s

Does anyone have any pairings they'd like to see in this? As a reminder Gregor is bisexual so if could be a man or woman for him. La Mai is heterosexual while Amelia just doesn't care about gender at all.
