Galactic Worlds

Earth (or Old Earth as it's more frequently called): The world that began humanity's expansion into space twenty millennia ago.

The Periphery or the Border: An area of space that includes worlds settled within the last millennium or two.

Space cities: Artificial habitats in space, home to the Sacabons, one of the branches of the human race.


Five Worlds

The five planets in star systems closest to Earth, settled during the first wave of migration.

Camelot: A world visited by Captain French during his second journey. One of his wives, Ilsa, was from this planet.

Iss: A world five-and-a-half light years from Logres.

Logres: A highly developed world that Captain French visited first during his second journey.

Lyoness: A world visited by Captain French during his second journey.

Penelope: A world at Alpha Centauri discovered by Captain French and named after his daughter. The first human extrasolar colony. This was where Jeanne du Maurier, the first of Captain French's "space wives", was born.


Old Worlds

Planets settled during the first millennium of expansion into space.

Armorica: Captain French once bought here the remains of a colony ship, turning it into the lounge for the Circe. It's also the home planet of Captain Chris Corday.

Aurora: A water world; its people later colonized Solaris.

Barsoom: A low-gravity (0.6 g) planet populated by tall lanky humans.

Dolores Rose: A cheerful planet; one of its most important institutions is the Order of Carnal Pleasures. It is known for its luxury items, fabrics and laces in particular.

Eden: A beautiful planet in the Cassiopeia constellation discovered by Captain French. Home to huge colorful butterflies. This was where Captain French left Jeanne du Maurier.

Excalibur: The people here produce famous rosé wines.

Horizon: A developed industrial planet.

Malacandra: Its people created shabns by genetically mixing camels and horses.

New Macedonia: A developed world from where the Children of Light were exiled.

Pern: A planet that's home to pterogeckos, flying lizards that look like tiny dragons.

Punjab: Captain French's last stop before his visit to Murphy.

San Brendan: A scarce world whose gravity is ten percent above standard. Its people re-colonized Brunnershabn after it had been depopulated by a nuclear war, renaming it Transformation.

Secundus: A planet known for its exotic clothing.

Shangri-La: A planet that suffered a devastating rebellion by the disenfranchised. Also known for its porcelain.

Tranai: A technologically developed world ruled by humane communism. This was where the mental annihilator was invented.

Trantor: A highly developed world, near which Captain Smith was looking for his escaped wife Yvonne. Two of Captain French's wives, Nina and Jessica, were Trantorians.

Viola Siderea: The home planet of Thea, one of Captain French's wives.


Other Worlds

Abydon: An unremarkable planet.

Aerlit: An unremarkable planet.

Alastor: The people here invented the mass duplicator. The device was purchased by captains Jones and Shard.

Alexandria: A world near Solaris.

Aloysius: An unremarkable planet.

Aloha: A world near Solaris.

Alphanor: A highly developed world where Shard first sold the specifications for the mass duplicator.

Amaterasu: The home planet of Yoko, one of Captain French's wives.

Americia: One of the worlds where Captain Trask got rowdy.

Atkinson's World: A cold planet populated by tall pale-skinned people.

Barataria: A world on the Periphery where Captain Davis of the Four Rooks died.

Belle Reve: A world where Captain French dropped off the Children of Light, his passengers from New Macedonia.

Beowulf: One of the worlds where Captain Trask got rowdy. It also has a well-developed industry. The quality of Beowulfan neuroclips is as good as those made on Earth.

Bone-in-the-Throat: A world whose people conducted dangerous genetic experiments that resulted in famine and war.

Brunnershabn: A planet whose population was wiped out in a nuclear war. After re-colonization by settlers from San Brendan was renamed Transformation.

Calypso: An unremarkable planet.

Carnot: One of the worlds passed by Captain French on the way to Corinth.

Chenga: An unremarkable planet.

Cocaine: One of the worlds passed by Captain French on the way to Corinth.

Corinth: A planet where Captain French left Shandra. A unique world whose women possess the gift of unmistakable selection of their spouse.

El Dorado: A planet struck by an ecological catastrophe caused by artificial earthquakes.

Globodan: A Border world that his home to monkey-like critters with orange fur.

Distant: A world where Captain Corday's ship Chiquitita was stolen and where he got himself a new ship called the Space Beagle.

Fiddler's Green: An inhabited planet near Solaris.

Heart Song: A world where Edward and Yvonne Smith stopped over on their way to Trantor.

Horse Mane: One of the worlds passed by Captain French on the way to Corinth.

Kheper: One of the worlds where Captain Trask got rowdy.

Limra: An unremarkable planet.

Maroun: An unremarkable planet.

Murphy: A planet settled by colonists from Transformation. Named after the colony leader Simon Murphy. Captain French purchased Killashandra here.

Nausicaa: A world known for its spices.

Neil Carborundum: One of the worlds passed by Captain French on the way to Corinth.

Poytex: A fairly prosperous world visited by Captain French after Solaris.

Priceless Pearl: A beautiful world discovered by Captain French and then settled by colonists from Logres. It suffered a disaster as a result of dangerous genetic experiments involving modifying the human body.

Radevski: One of the worlds passed by Captain French on the way to Corinth.

Scylla: An unremarkable planet.

Selene: An unremarkable planet.

Smayda: An unremarkable planet.

Solaris: A water world with dry land (in the form of islands) making up only 3% of the surface. Primary export: cosmetics, spices, and medications.

Summerland: A backward world once ruled by a dictator named Klerak Belug. Often mentioned in relation to the story of Captain Philip Regos.

Tapioca: An unremarkable planet.

Trallion: An unremarkable planet.

Trigismus: One of the worlds passed by Captain French on the way to Corinth.

Triton: An extremely developed world, whose people invented crystalsilk and the ability to genetically change one's sex.

Transformation: See Brunnershabn.

Uilenspiegel: An unremarkable planet.

Wist: An unremarkable planet.

Yamaha: A planet that suffered an ecological catastrophe as a result of an attempt at changing the axial tilt.
