Chapter 2: Sending Off

(The Next Day.)

*Beep, beep, beep. Beep, beep, beep.* Ash then snoozed his alarm clock and got up to get ready for the day. Today was their last day in Alola before they left for their trip in Kalos. As soon as Ash had gotten ready he went downstairs and was greeted by Serena. "Good Morning Ash-kun. Eon." Said Serena "Good Morning Sweetheart. How well did you sleep last night?" "I slept very well Ash-kun. Thank you for checking up on me." Ash knew that while Serena's nightmares as a result of flashbacks from Team Rocket's experiments were less frequent than they used to be, he still made sure to check up on her. "Tomorrow's the big day. I'm going to finish packing, Sweetheart." "Alright Ash-kun. Let me know if you need any help." "Thank you, I will let you know." Ash then went upstairs to finish packing up while Pikachu, Braixen, and Pancham went down. "Brai Braixen Brai. (Good Morning Sis.)" Cried Braixen. "Pancham Pan. (Morning Sis.)" Cried Pancham. "Pika Pika Pikachu. (Good Morning Serena.)" Cried Pikachu. "Good morning to all of you. Looks like we have a big day today. Eon."

(Meanwhile in Ash's room.)

"Alright, and that should do it. Finally finished packing." Said Ash, happy to finally finish getting ready for the trip. Ash then looked around his room, shocked as the realization that he would literally be out of his room and house for weeks began to hit him. He then looked at the top of his drawer, where his memorabilia stand was, everything sentimental to him from years past began to remind him of all the memories he made over the years, his Alolan League Championship Trophy, his extensive Gym Badge collection, and the photo of him and Serena when they were younger, before she had become a hybrid. Fixated on the photo, Ash realized it wouldn't be right to go on the trip without it, So he open his suitcase and places the photo between several layers of clothes before closing it once again. "Alright then. Let's head downstairs."

(Meanwhile In the Living Room.)

Serena was reading in the living room with her Pokémon and Pikachu by her side. Even after finishing her studies with Ash and his friends, Serena enjoyed reading. Whether it was updates to Ash's matches, a new recipe, or even a simple story, Serena adored reading about it. She has even read to some of Ash's Pokémon. Serena then looked up from her book to see Ash looking at the photo of his parents. "Ash-kun, I didn't even notice you were here! Eon!" Blurted a shocked Serena. "Sorry about that Sweetheart. I saw you being immersed in the book you were reading and I didn't want to interrupt." Said an apologetic Ash. "Its fine, Ash-kun. Did you finish packing? Eon?" "I just finished Sweetheart." "Great! Are you hungry?" "Now that you mentioned the topic of food, did either of us have Breakfast this morning?" "Honestly, I can't even recall if I had breakfast. Braixen, Pancham, Pikachu? Did any of you have breakfast this morning? Eon?" "Pi Pika. (I Didn't.)" Cried Pikachu. "Braixen Brai xen. (Neither did I.)" Cried Braixen. "Pan Pancham Pancham. (I don't think I did.)" Cried Pancham. Serena then looked to be physically deflated "I forgot to make Breakfast this morning." "Sweetheart, relax. I'll handle breakfast today. You don't need to worry about a thing." "Are you sure Ash-kun? Eon?" "Positive." Serena then wrapped her feelers around Ash for a hug. "I don't even know what I'd do without you Ash-kun."

(Ten Minutes Later)

True to his word, Ash decided to handle breakfast. Although since he wasn't the best at cooking, Ash made toast with peanut butter and Oran berry jelly. "I know it isn't much sweetheart, but I made it with love." Said Ash. "That's all that matters, Ash-kun. Eon." Said Serena. Ash and Serena enjoyed the simple breakfast and fed their Pokémon afterwards. Ash and Serena was just finishing up when… *Knock, knock, Knock* "I'll get it Sweetheart." Ash then walk up to the door and opens it. "Hello Ash." Said Mateus. "Mateus! Please, come in. Me and Serena are finishing up on giving our Pokémon breakfast." Mateus then enters the home. "How have you been, Mateus?" "Aside from being busy working on cases all the time and having to be in one place or move all day, I'm fine." "Where's Buddy and Decidueye?" "Oh, we had to work on several reports and it took a good chunk of the night so I figured it would be best to let them rest." "I see." Serena then walks to the front of the house." "Detective, what brings you here? Eon?" "I had a break in my schedule and I figured it would be best to see you two before you left for your trip." "Do you want to sit in the living room with me and Serena?" "Of course."

(Back In the Living Room.)

"From Alola to Kalos, huh?" Said Mateus. "Yep. Eon." Said Serena. "Are you guys stopping somewhere or is it a direct flight?" "It's a direct flight, Detective." "That's roughly a 20 hour flight." "We'll be leaving early tomorrow morning. 6:00 AM to be exact." Said Ash. "So you would be arriving at approximately 2:00 AM the next day, and that's in our time zone." "Detective, what would the time be over in Kalos? Eon?" "It's an 11 hour time difference, so over there you would be leaving Alola at 5:00 PM tomorrow evening and you would arrive in Kalos at around 1:00 PM the next afternoon." "I see. You say that my case was the first one you worked on, correct?" "Yes, I was a rookie detective spending my first six months in Kalos." "Why did you have to spend six months in Kalos? Eon?" "It was a requirement under standard protocol at the time for rookie detective to spend six months in another region." "What's it like there?" "I haven't been to Kalos ever since I finished my six month requirement, which was eleven years ago." "I see. Eon." "I have notified my regional director as well as Commissioner Blake that I will be accompanying you two when Serena sees her parents. I'll be doing more office work than usual, but it'll be worth it." "Thank you Detective." "No problem. I can only imagine what things will be like. I have to get going now, my break should be ending soon." Mateus walks to the door when he remembers something "Oh! Before I forget…"

(Several Hours Later)

Ash and Serena were having a get together with many of their friends, knowing that it would be the last time they would see the couple for a weeks, Ash's friends made sure to drop by his house. Knowing that it was hard to sleep due to the rush of excitement, Ash and Serena decided in advance to head to the airport during the night. "I'll miss you, Mr. Ash and Ms. Serena." Said Amelia. "I'll miss you too, Amelia. Eon." Said Serena. "We hope that you will have fun on your trip." Said Mallow, who was with Lana and Lillie. "I will, and I'll be looking forward to you everything when we get back." "Even If it is for a few weeks, it's not going to be the same in the league without you, Ash. Either way, I hope you have fun." Said Molayne. "Thanks Molayne." Said Ash. "Well, it's best we get going Ash-kun. Eon." "Of course Sweetheart." Ash and Serena then get on Professor Kukui's Jeep and head to the Airport.

(A Few Hours Later, At Melemele Airport.)

Inside the airport, Ash and Serena were waiting for their flight to begin boarding. Occasionally, one would take a power nap while the other would keep their eyes open to look around just in case. "Ash-kun, what time Is it? Eon?" Asked Serena. "Right now, it is currently 5:30AM Sweetheart." Replied Ash. "Air Kalos Flight Number 2013 will begin boarding momentarily, please have your boarding pass, Trainer's Passport or License, as well as your luggage ready." Said the flight attendant. "You ready to enjoy the next two weeks, Sweetheart?" "Absolutely, Ash-Kun.
