Chapter 4: Undesirable Recognition
(The Next Day)
Serena slept well with Ash the previous night. Their visit to Kalos went off to a great start. Meeting some of Ash's friends, going inside Prism Tower, and most importantly spending time with each other. It felt like nothing could place a damper on them or their vacation. As Serena got off the bed, she took her time to get ready. "I wonder what today will bring. Eon." Said Serena quietly, not wanting to disturb Ash.
(A Few Hours Later)
Serena was reading a book when she heard Ash walk out of the bedroom. "Good Morning Ash-kun. Eon." Said Serena. "Good morning Sweetheart." Said Ash. "I was going to make breakfast, but there doesn't seem to be enough space to do anything in the cabinet and sink area." "That's because it's not really meant to make breakfast." "Really?! Eon?!" "It's really meant to store things like snacks and smaller foods." "Oh. So what could we do for breakfast?" "Let's see. Do you want to have Room Service deliver breakfast to us, or do you want to go out and eat at a restaurant?" "I suppose room service will do. Eon." "Alright then." Ash and Serena then order breakfast, with the two of them deciding to get Oran Berry pancakes along with some coffee. "Serena, you know what I love about you sweetheart?" "What is it that you love about me, Ash-kun?" "Everything. Sometimes I either look at or think about you smiling and I just feel a burst of happiness in me." "Really?! Eon?!" "It's true." Serena couldn't help but blush at Ash's words. "I love you Ash-kun." "I love you too, Sweetheart."
(A Few Hours Later, At Lumiose City.)
Ash and Serena met up with Clemont, Bonnie, and Korrina again to walk around and explore Lumiose City. "Lumiose City really beautiful. Although I wonder how people can get to where they're going being so clustered as it is. Eon." Said Serena. "You don't really think about the city being clustered, it's pretty much second nature really." Said Korrina. "What are the cities in Alola like, Serena?" asked Clemont. "They're not as large as Lumiose City, but it is more open so there's little worry of accidentally bumping into someone." "It would be nice to see Alola someday." "If you're ever interested in visiting, feel free to let me know." Said Ash. "I definitely will." Ash then noticed Serena looking a little distracted. "Sweetheart, what's on your mind?" "Just looking at the people here, I'm noticing how the culture is different. Eon." "I see." "How is the culture of Alola different from here?" Asked Bonnie. "The culture in Alola is more laid back and tranquil. Here it kind of looks as if its firm and stationary, although that's what I'm getting so far." "It is true that much of Kalosian culture in general is based off of fashion and beauty, so it might look that way to someone who hasn't been here. But the more you explore Kalos, the more you'll understand how it can differ from place to place." "I see. Thank you Clemont. Eon." "Oh my goodness! It's the Alolan League Champion, Ash Ketchum!" shouted a fan from afar. Ash and the group then froze, knowing that their desire to keep a low profile during the trip had just been thrown out of the window. "Ash-kun, what do we do now?" "Run." Ash and the group then start running, eventually making their way to Prism Tower. "That was a bit scary. Why did we have to run, Ash-kun? Eon?" "Because no one, apart from Clemont, Korrina, Bonnie, and our friends in Alola, knows that we're here. I was hoping we could keep it that way so that we could have a relaxing vacation." "What do we do now?" Clemont is then seen thinking before an idea strikes him. "I'd suppose now that one fan was able to spot you, news of you being here will spread like wildfire since you still have a considerable following from when you competed in the Kalos League. So I'm thinking, why don't you announce that you're here." "That may be the best course of action, but most girls think I'm still single." "You could also state that you're dating someone." "That would help, but I don't know if… do you guys mind if I talk to Serena alone for a bit?" "Absolutely."
(Ash and Serena then go away from Clemont, Bonnie, and Korrina.)
"What is it that you want to talk about Ash-kun? Eon?" Asked Serena. "Serena, it's now all but inevitable that I'll have to let the public know that I'm visiting Kalos. I know that it would be great to add that we're dating to the announcement to place the number of girls that want to date me to a minimum, but I want to ask you. Are you okay with potentially dealing with a lot of publicity, even more than the amount you received in Alola?" Asked Ash. "Ash-kun. It's great that you're asking me this before making a big decision, but we also decided to surprise my parents about me." "I know, this isn't an easy decision. I don't want the surprise potentially being ruined." Serena then had an idea. "You could say that you're in a romantic relationship, but not tell anyone that it's me until we surprise my parents. Eon" "That would be tricky, but I think we might be able to pull it off. I just hope this doesn't ruin our vacation as well." "What's the worst that could happen, Ash-kun?"
(Ash and Serena then walk back to Clemont, Bonnie, and Korrina.)
Ash then tells Clemont, Bonnie, and Korrina the plan on how they'll announce Ash's presence in Kalos. "So you're both on board with this?" Asked Clemont. "Yep." Said Ash. "It's a shame that your vacation couldn't go the way you hoped it would." Said Bonnie. "Maybe. But it feels like it was bound to happen and I was too stubborn to acknowledge it." "Ash-kun, you shouldn't knock yourself so harshly. Eon." Said Serena. "But, this is my fault. So I'm the only one who can take the blame and responsibility for this, Sweetheart." "Any possible fans have likely stopped looking for you by now. I think it's safe for you both to return to your hotel." Said Korrina. "Well then. We'd best be going. Bye guys."
(Ash and Serena then leave Prism Tower and head back to their Hotel Room.)
"Tomorrow's the day, Huh? Eon?" Said Serena. "Yeah, a lot of attention will be directed towards us. I promise that no matter what happens, nothing will get in the way of our relationship." Said Ash. "Thank You, Ash-kun. I know it won't be easy, but at least we'll have each other."

Well, that was unexpected. Before I wish you all a nice weekend, I just have an update.

Due to the uncertainty of my situation right now I have decided to place the story on a brief hiatus for the time being. it's been hard to think about the ideas for the story, let alone write chapters or even post weekly updates because of all this. It really sucks to say this, but I always try to be a man of my word. I can't confirm when updates will resume but I will try to do everything in my power to ensure that this hiatus remains brief. I hope you all have an excellent weekend.
