Chapter 14: Only you
Klaus
The get-together had been called between his inner circle and a selected few of individuals that he trusted enough with this information.
On the witches side had been Gloria and Vincent. Lucy had tagged along while Bonnie had been missing. He could admit that he had wanted to see her but figured that this was for the best. He had heard that the green eyed beauty had been taking this time to work on her friendship with the lovelorn vampire. And although he detested Damon with his everything he knew that– that relationship meant a lot to her.
On the wolf end of things Chase, a newly returned Haley, and her husband Jackson had rounded out the three wolves he trusted. Everyone else was family, with Rebekah, Elijah and Marcel being the only vampires permitted.
"As you all know," He starts gathering the attention of everyone. "Our newest enemy is playing mind games." He says bored because that is what this supposed threat does to him, it bores him. If someone wanted to fight, then fight why beat round the bush about it. He could only believes that the person behind all of this was truly afraid and they should be. Wasting his time was not a good thing.
Elijah makes a sound in the back of his throat as if his admonishing the words that he had uttered mere seconds ago. "We all quite aware that this is a serious matter, and that people are upset." Elijah says pacifying the guest as usual.
Blue eyes roll because Elijah is so typical. So far, the new threat is toying with them, no need to give into the hype and make this thing bigger than what it was.
He takes the lead. "Thus the reason we need to collectively keep this thing under wraps."
Jackson is the first to speak, a drink in his hand as if he belongs in the inner circle. "The people deserve to know what's going on."
His eyes flash. "So that they can go into hysterics I think not!" He says barley sparing the wolf a glance. "The only reason your privy to this information is the grace that I've granted you because Haley is your wife." He says, not caring too much for how he looks or sounds speaking to Jackson.
As always Elijah steps in with a warning as he seems to enjoy playing the role of peacemaker. Briefly he wonders if his brother ever tires of the role he's appointed himself too. Eyes sliding over his form, he decides that what Elijah needs more than anything is to laid. It's been ages and maybe then he would unclench.
"Klaus." Haley interrupts as she stands watching the three men. "Not that time." She warns standing next to Jackson her hand on his shoulder.
He chuckles. "I thought you of all people would be pleased I'm including your husband in things and being honest about everything." He says with a snicker. "You did say we needed to be transparent with each other as co parents did you not?"
Haley only turns her head away from him bristling at his words.
"I don't mean to interrupt, but can we please stay on topic." Lucy chimes in. "I'm sure you all have enough drama to knock out any soap opera but I like to watch my soaps at home and get my business done quickly so," She urges.
His lips twitch at her words. Bennett women and the sass that comes with them. He wonders if Elijah had finally put it down on Lucy would she still be as sassy? Then again, Bonnie had a mouth on her and he quite enjoyed it.
Elijah quickly comes forth as if he's shielding Lucy from any harm with his words and his stance. "Miss Bennett, er Lucy is right, let us get back to the topic at hand."
Across the room his brother and the Bennett witch share a look that doesn't go unnoticed by anyone in the room. He can see a sliver of a smile coating the lips of his brother and he figures if he plays his cards right he might get to see her naked.
Vincent clears his throat and the notion nearly has him grinning. Oh boy, poor Vincent if he ever thought his friendship would Lucy would go much further the look the witch was giving his brother told otherwise.
Popcorn anyone?
"Some roses have already been delivered." Vincent reminds the room. "What are we going to do about those who may be in danger?"
The question is valid and a good one at that, but plans have already been set.
He doesn't have to say a word because Marcel chooses the right time to speak. "My nightwalkers will be patrolling and daywalkers will do the same during the day."
He claps his hands together once Marcel is finished speaking. It was a full moon tonight and he wanted to shift, run and get lost in his wolf side. This meeting needed to end quickly. "And that concludes this meeting. You'll be contacted on a need to know basis, now see yourself out."

Bonnie
I was restless. I knew that to be true because I had nearly done a everything and still I couldn't sit still. I had danced till beads of sweat had decorated my body in every crevice. I had sang along to songs I hadn't listened to in years while on a face time call with Caroline. She, of course had joined in and the two of us had sung our hearts out. It was a blast and it made me miss Caroline even more.
"You alright?" Caroline asked once we finished a particular long song.
I look up into my phone and grin. Only miles and miles away Caroline could see the real me. Years of secret smiles and words being said without ever being uttered had done that for our relationship. "I just can't seem to sit still." I say causing golden eyebrows to get lost in her newly cut bangs.
"Magic high?" Caroline asks to which I shake my head. "Trouble with Damon?"
I thought about her words. "No, he's around here lurking. He's up to something but,"
"When is he not?" Caroline asks matter of fact to which I snort.
We share a smile, before she speaks again. "How are things doing with you and Nik?"
I shrug. "He's doing his thing and I'm doing mine." At her question, I feel suddenly uncomfortable.
For the life of me, I hadn't told Caroline, whom I was really spending time with. I knew she wouldn't judge me because, she'd done far more wilder things then, whom I was currently doing. Well, maybe not as wild, but she dated both Matt and Tyler. That triangle was a mess, but in the end she and Tyler they were meant to be, and that was probably why they would be the only couple from our friend group to get married to each other and actually stay married.
Caroline bites her lip. "And you miss doing each other don't you?" She says with a saucy look on her face.
I bite the tip of my nails. Which was a dead give away. "I mean, yeah but it's good we're giving each other space, I want to be able to walk and sometimes..." I stop my words when a knock sounds at my bedroom door.
"Go away Damon!" Caroline says as I open the door to see Damon looking almost sheepishly.
"Aww I miss you to Caroline." Damon yells though he has no need to. He and Caroline are vampires so, really he's just trying to tick her off.
"Fuck off." Caroline nearly shouts so loud that I turn my phone down. "Bon, I'll talk to you later, Damon, I hope your day walking ring gets lost."
The screen goes black and I let out a tiny chuckle, at least Caroline kept it real all the time.
"What's up." I asked noticing the way his eyes take in my appearance. Currently I was sporting a grey v neck cropped top with lightly distressed denim jeans.
As if he remembered what this was, he takes a step back. "I have a question for you best friend of mine?"
I eye him closely. He's way too animated which meant he was up to something. "Stop looking at me like that and maybe I'll answer it."
He only grins.
"I can't especially with those curves on display."
I let out a sigh. "Damon, the point."
He makes a big show of eyeing me so long that it's like those iceberg eyes are touching me. "You look hot." He says suddenly.
"Thanks." I say peering up at him. "So what did you want to ask me?"
"Do you trust me?" He asks all playfulness gone. No now his eyes are all intense as he bares down on me, with eyes that use to make my heart flutter too many times to count.
His question hangs in the air but the answer was obvious. "Yeah."
He smiles. "Good! Come with me, and I will cure your restlessness better than any other man could ever do."

Once the meeting has concluded most of the people in attendance had made a beeline out the door. Chase had assured them that he and his guys were looking into it, he also made it clear that he wanted everything with this situation without any bloodshed. Once the detective had uttered those words he could almost picture the eye roll Klaus had sent his way.
Now though, Klaus and Haley were huddled in a corner conversing lowly, while Jackson looked on with disdain. Vincent had gone outside once receiving a phone call. His lovely sister and Marcel were entertaining Gloria who looked much better after everything was out in the open. But then again, it could be the mere fact that she saw that Marcel and Rebekah had still been going strong. She always had a soft spot for the two of them, she even rooted for them to get it together every time they broke up.
Lastly, his eyes found Lucy Bennett. The normally outspoken Bennett witch held a glass in her delicate hand, however it looked like she had yet to take a sip. Instead she opted to look out the window as many of the participants from the meeting had made the drive back home.
Carefully he approaches her standing close but not too close to startle her. "You're all alone I see."
When she turns around to face him. He expects that Lucy Bennett sultry look that is just so natural to her, what he gets is someone who almost looks lost in thought.
"Miss Bennett," He moves closer. She sends him a look that reminds him that she had asked once upon a time to be called by her name. "Lucy?" He says touching her shoulder. "What is it?"
He watches as she swallows hard. "I got a rose right before the meeting started."
A brow raises. "Does she know?"
She shakes her head. "No and I don't plan on telling her. She's been through enough already and I don't want her worrying about me." She continues. "Your brother," she says tossing a look in the direction of Klaus. "He seems to make her happy and right now, that's all I want for her."
He smirks. "Wanna know a secret," He says leaning close. "She makes him more tolerable as well."
Lucy smiles then and it's radiant. "As for me and this rose business, I'll fight tooth and nail if needed, I won't let anyone take me down or the people I care about." Lucy admits, the familiar look on her face.
He offers her a faint smile. "You aren't alone." He says honestly. "We are all going to get to the bottom of these theatrics and until then," He says touching her hand. "Allow me to be your personal bodyguard."
Lucy looks at him so long he can see her mind working. "You have your own life and it wouldn't feel right to just yank you for it to babysit me."
He smiles just a little bit. "How about we think of it as, the two of us getting to know each other?"
She only mulls over the words for a few seconds, its then that he realizes that if he must he'll convince her further.
We hit it off on the roof all the nights ago." He continues observing the way her mouth lifts up into a small smile. "And I thought this might give us more time to get to know each other."
"You sure, I'm not taking you away from something or someone?" She asks motioning behind him, on Haley who had returned. It was well known among just about everyone that once upon a time that he had a great deal of fondness for the wolf who brought his niece into the world. However, what he and Haley had felt for each other was in the past. She had moved on with Jackson, and he had moved on from the entire situation.
She nods. "If you're sure."
He steps forward. "I'm positive that this is best for both of us."
Its only then that she finally agrees.

It's only when I see the hoards of people, hear the music blaring from the stage and see all the posters and billboards do I even realize what exactly is going on. Every year I went to a music festival, it didn't matter what state it was in, it was tradition that I would go with someone from back home. Last year, Tyler, Caroline and I had gone together flying all the way to California for a music festival held on the beach. We had a good time those three days and now, it just so happen the festival was held in Louisiana.
Once Damon parks the car, I turn to look at him.
"You did this for me?" I ask when he finally turns his head to look my way.
He turns to look at me, with those intense ice blue eyes. "Yeah, of course, you love your music and this is the perfect chance for us to reconnect, to get back to being us."
After a beat of silence I smile his way. "Thank you for the surprise."
He reaches out to touch my hand. "Thank you for trusting me, for still trusting me." Pause. "You've been on edge lately and I just wanted to do something nice for you because you deserve it Bon, more than anyone I know."
Silently we get out the car with Damon walking close to me his arm slung around my shoulder.
"Now, lets get you fed, a beer and immerse yourself in the music." He starts doing his Damon dance and I cant even stifle a grin. He was an idiot but I loved him just the same.
I smile up at him. "Full disclosure, I'm documenting this on all social media platforms."
"Fine by me, as long as I can get a few picture of my own." With that he pulled out his phone and took a picture of the two of us, first with our wristbands, then with him kissing my cheek.
Suddenly all the nervous energy I felt before melted away.
'Caroline is gonna be so jealous." Damon beams as he grabs hold of me and smile once again for the picture.

We had danced and sang and laughed so hard that I was sure my voice was going to be hoarse the next day, but we had so much fun.
Currently we were sitting on a bench reminiscing about the travels we had taken together. In the time since the other side, Damon and I had made it a point to go on vacation together. I wanted to see the world and that was what we did. It didn't matter where we were, how long we were staying or what we did– I just wanted to live.
"Do you remember that time we got into a bar fight?" Damon asks his eyes glassy, his face open and his smile unforgettable.
At the mere mention of said bar fight, I nearly dropped my french fry smothered in chili. Almost being the word, because I scooped up the fry and tossed it in my mouth. Swallowing my fry I send him a look that has him laughing.
"You mean the bar fight you started." I remind. "We nearly got our asses handed to us by a pack of wolves."
He leans back in his chair. "That dude had it coming, he was staring at your ass." He says with an easy shrug. "And for all he knew you were my girl and he was trying to mess up our situation."
I roll my eyes. "Damon he was uninterested in everything I had going on. We were just dancing and you pulled a Damon and then we were running for our lives."
He smiles. "How was I suppose to know he wasn't trying to get in your panties, all I knew was that he was too close to you and I reacted."
I shake my head. "His pack just about chased us out of town." I swore we were going to get bitten.
He taps his fingers on the table. "We made though."
I pick up my drink and take a sip. "We always do." It was the truth. No matter what Damon and I had always seemed to make it through. It didn't matter if we were running for our lives from a bar fight, if we were stuck in a time loop together or if we were fighting bad guys together. We always made it through.
"We always will, you and me."
His words are loud and clear even with the music blaring around us.

Once the meeting was finally disbanded he hightailed it out of the room, hoping that everyone had gotten the hint. And as luck would have him most of the people in attendance had fluttered off to do whatever it is that they did. The only people left were Gloria, who was chatting with Marcel. Vincent who had appeared to have gotten an urgent phone call. And Lucy. The latter was being preoccupied with Elijah. As for the others, Jackson was outside talking with Chase as if he could help.
And Haley, well she was hot on his heels.
Briskly he walks, checking his phone every once in a while. Josh was supposed to send him more updates then he was currently doing and it was starting to grate on his nerves. The last thing the vampire sent him had been a picture of Bonnie, her head thrown back as she laughed. Her long hair had been in mini twist all over her head and cascading down her back. She looked to be enjoying herself. Too bad she was in the company of filth.
Once inside his office he heads straight for the mini bar ignoring Haley as he went. If she had something to say, he hoped she'd get on with it to put them both out of misery. He's nearly drained his drink when she let out a sigh.
Turning slowly he spares her a glance before sitting in his office chair, tilting it back some. Josh has finally gotten back to him on the question he asked a million years ago about Bonnie, saying that she was having fun. Another picture was sent to him, this time showing Bonnie with her hands up in the air, while Salvatore stood close, way too close, the peasant even had the nerve to have his hands all over her. Granted, they were dancing but it was far too close for his liking. In fact he growled at the mere sight.
In the distance, Haley sighed again and he couldn't be bothered to stop the glare he sent her way. "What?" He roared at her.
Brown eyes narrow as she crosses her arms in front of her chest. Though she is beautiful, nice full lips, olive, tanned skin and dark brown hair, the mother of his child doesn't do it for him. What they had was a one off, but it created Hope, so they are stuck together for better or worse.
"Don't what me Klaus?" Haley says following his pervious footsteps by fixing herself a drink and then settling in the chair in front of his desk. "I know this a million old habit, but I don't appreciate you talking down to my husband!" She rants.
He leans forward, hands clasp together. "How dare I, treat your flake of a husband as if he's a non factor when in reality that is the reality."
Eyes narrowed she speaks. "Jackson is not a flake, he's going to be a chef."
Blue eyes blink rapidly. "I mean he has to do something especially since I've paid for his schooling." He grins when she looks away. " Or did you think I didn't know you were sharing the amble amount of money I send your way because you are the mother of my child?" He's just about to speak more truths when she speaks.
Glare. "You said I could spend my allowance as I please, and my money never interferes with the money for Hope, what's hers is hers and what's mine is mine."
A chuckle rumbles through his chest. "And you use it to foster the ever changing calling of your fickle husband."
She stands now hands on his desk. "Screw you!"
"Never again sweetheart!" He taunts.
Haley lets out a sound in the back of her throat while he takes a glance at his phone. Before he knows it, she's standing behind him looking out the window down at the courtyard. He could tell she was angry, but not angry enough to put her hands on him. Instead she speaks calmly.
"You should've called me and told me that someone wanted to take over this place."
He scoffs. "It wasn't important and I have it handled."
Now she rolls her eyes. "Hope is our daughter and we will protect her together, you don't get to make all the rules and you should willingly tell me what's going on so we can work together."
He shrugs his shoulders. "Well, you know everything now." he says simply.
Haley lets out another sigh and looks out the window this time catching sight of two people standing closely together. "Do I?"
Spinning in his chair he looks out at the courtyard, seeing exactly what had her paints in a twist.
"Did you honestly think that Elijah would continue to pine away for you after you got married?"
She frowns. "I'm not talking about Elijah!" She stressed. "But I am happy he's moved on, he appears to like Lucy Bennett of all people."
He snorts. "Try to say that with more feeling sweetheart."
"I'm talking about everything, but more importantly you." She says causing him to look her way.
She walks away from the window and sizes him up. "You're acting weird."
With furrowed brows he speaks. "What? No I'm not! You're perception is off due to the bad food your husband cooks."
Eye roll. "You didn't yell at the meeting." She pointed out. "Not once."
"I don't yell all the time." Is his simple reply.
"And you've been looking at your phone all day."
He shrugs. "So what? Everyone is glued to the phone."
"You've also been licking your lips, like a lot." She says eyes still studying him.
He almost does it again but stops himself. "My lips could be chapped."
Haley shakes her head. "Or you could be thinking about the peach you've been eating."
The choke happens naturally, well he almost swallowed his tongue at her words and the mere memory of said peach and throaty voice of the owner it belonged to.
Haley grins. "I knew it, you seem lighter which means you've been gettin it!"
He stands and begins to walk Haley out all the while she bombarding him with questions. "Is it Cami, no it's not Cami that ship has sailed. What about Aurora, she's crazy but so are you."
When they stop at the door that he now has pushed open, she's looking at him expectantly.
"It's time for you to go, I've got stuff to do."
She chuckles now. "Like glare at your phone till she returns your text messages."
The withering look he sends her only makes her grin wider.
"Out." He says pointing to the door emphasizing his word.
Instead of listening Haley just stands outside the door looking at him. "As the mother of your child I demand to know who's doing you right, and putting you in a better mood?"
The door slamming in her face is so quick he nearly broke then door itself.
Bonnie finally gets back to him, sending a picture of her and a plate a food, a big ole smile on her face.
The grin on his face is instant.
They were suppose to have a date night tomorrow. The words alone makes him feel like a love sick fool, but the notion had been set during the cookout. Life had just gotten in the way and it had been pushed back. Now though, he was ready to indulge in everything that was Bonnie Bennett. And for once he wasn't just talking about her blood, or the depths of being inside of her. He wanted to get to know her, the real her.
He's just about to send her a quick text when his phone rings. He picks it up at once.
"I see you've finally been able to tear yourself away from that parasite long enough to chat instead of sending texts."
She snorts. "You sound sooo jealous."
He chuckles. "Never."
"Judging by the amount of texts you've sent my way, I guess you wanted my attention." Bonnie says as if she knows the truth he tries to hide.
He grinned. "I just wanted to remind you tomorrow you're mine."
"Well then, till tomorrow."
In the background he can hear Damon whining like the baby-vampire he is. "Love, you sound like you're having fun, like your happy."
I beat passes where she tells Damon to stop drinking her drink. "I am."
"Good."
Pause.
"I'll see you tomorrow."
With that she hangs up the phone. This feeling he's beginning to feel, its new to him. Something that he never thought he'd experience in all his lifetime, and with each moment that passes he realizes it something he wants to continue feeling, no matter what.
