Chapter 2
JJ stood crying as the crash team stopped working and turned off all the alarms
"Time of death 17:37." The doctor calmly told his team
"I'm sorry Becky, this is all my fault." A distraught JJ tells her dead Nanny
JJ heard someone enter the room and gently call her name.
"Jennifer! Are you ok?"
She turned around to see Emily Prentiss with white gauze covering her burns on her neck and wrist.
Without a second thought JJ just stepped forward and engulfed Emily and hugged her as hard as she could.
Emily cringed slightly at the pressure over her burnt neck.
"Oh, Emily I am so sorry." She apologised
"I've had worse, I was wondering if I could see Addison and Henry, I bought these for them." Emily held up a brown bag "you have two very brave children there, Jennifer." Smiled Emily
JJ smiled and walked with Emily over to the children's hospital room.
"Emily!l" Shouted both Henry and Addison from their respective beds.
"Guys remember this is Emily, she was the fire fighter that saved you both.
Smiling Emily handed Henry a large ladder truck toy with working siren and lights and his very own fireman's helmet. Emily sat down next to Addison and handed her a huge firewoman doll. She thanked Emily, not taking her eyes of the large bandage over her neck covering her burn.
"Don't worry beautiful, the doctors have made it much better. Now who's wants some ice cream?" Smiled Emily. Knowing it would help their sore throats from breathing in the hot smoke
"Me! Me!" Two delighted children shouted. "What about you Mama?" Enquired Emily with a smile

Hotch and Rossi knocked on the door to the Jareau's hospital room.
JJ looked across and smiled at her boss from Henry's bed as she listened to Emily telling some of her funny rescue stories.
"JJ, can we talk outside?" Hotch asked
"I'm so sorry to hear about Becky. We are going to put you and the kids into protective custody. This attack was personal, he has taken your press conference as a personal attack on him. We are sorry Jennifer we didn't see him attacking your family. We can't let you stay with any of the team as we have to consider he knows all of our addresses…" Hotch is interrupted by Emily
"Agent, Jennifer and her children can stay with me. I have a large Condo with security, I only live there with my cat Sergio. I am not able to work until my burns have healed, the company would be a great distraction. Of course if that's ok with you Jennifer?" Emily smiled as she watched the three agents.
"Are you sure?" JJ asked her
She smiled before replying "yes, just think of it as part of my gold standard rescue service. Plus's I hate it when I can't work due to an injury. The kids will be a great distraction." She answered. Looking at the blonde she also thought looking at her, you won't be so bad either.
Hotch considered things for a while and nodded "I would feel better if I could sent two of my team to assess your security. I will send SSA Derek Morgan and SA Emily Thorn if you would let your security known?" Hotch asked
"Thank you, Emily." JJ emotionally told the fire Captain

JJ and the children sat on Emily's settee amazed at the Condo and it's facilities. The kids were excited once Emily told them they could use the swimming pool in the morning.
Addison and Henry both started to yawn on the settee after their stressful day, events finally catching up with them.
"Time for bed you two." Announced their mother
"I'll show you were your bedrooms are." Announced Emily as she stood up stiffly
JJ looked quizzically at Emily. "Bedrooms? I thought we would be sharing the same room." JJ asked
"My condo has 4 bedrooms. I am a trust fund girl, this was my only big purchase I fell in love with it as soon as I looked around. Otherwise I live comfortably on my DCFD salary." Emily replied a little embarrassed
JJ and the kids followed Emily up the stairs and stopped between two doors.
"Henry this is your bedroom and Addison this is yours. The bathroom door is halfway along the joint wall as both rooms share. Your mother's room is down the end of the corridor and my room is down there. Do I get a hug before I go and change my bandages?" Asked Emily
Henry and Addison both carefully hugged Emily good night.

Emily stood in just her bra and panties in front of her bathroom mirror ready to change her bandages and reapply more cream. From years of experience she knew this next bit no matter how she did it would hurt like hell. She eased the tape from around her wrist and pulled the dressing up, and pulled it off her wrist.
"Arghh, damn that hurt." She told her reflection
JJ had heard the cry of pain emanating from Emily's room and walked in to investigate she saw Emily hunched over her vanity unit removing her dressing.
Without thinking she walked into her on suite bathroom. Her blue eyes locked onto Emily's brown eyes in the mirror. JJ turned her around so she face her and without asking started to remove the dressing on her neck, shoulder and to her surprise part of her breast. Emily gave her silent consent and JJ as carefully as possible removed the large dressing and gasped at the sight of her large burn.
"Oh, Emily, I am so sorry." Is all she can manage
"Occupational hazard Jennifer. I would do it again tomorrow to bring you back your kids. I am just sorry we couldn't save your house for you." Smiled Emily as she brushed away the tears spilling down her cheeks with the pads of her thumbs
Emily pulled her in close so she could rub the back of the upset blonde.
"Damn burns!" Cried Emily as she hanged her burnt wrist against JJ's shoulder blade.
JJ took Emily by her burn free hand and sat her down and started to gently apply her burns cream and then redressed them.
"Thank you, Jennifer, Good night ."
"Good night, Emily, thank you for saving my children." JJ leaned in and kissed on her cheek close to her lips.
Emily felt a strange sensation were she had just been kissed, placing her hand up to cover the area she smiled like a young girl as she watched JJ walk out her bedroom.

Andrew Clark had watched the news of the FBI agents house fire, he watched Tony Pitchman carrying Henry Jareau out the house followed by Emily Prentiss carrying the girl under her bunker coat.
"Damn, how dare you!" He snarled at the bound and gagged husband and wife.
He had decided to up the difficulty for the fire fighters. He had sealed all the windows and all but one door with builders sealant. He wanted to try and get a flash over when they entered the house injuring as many as he could. The District of Columbia fire department had spoilt his revenge on that bitch Jareau, they needed to feel his pain. He had been sacked by the FDNY for endangering fellow fire fighters when he froze firing a major fire causing two colleagues to be severely burnt.
He had been ostracised by the whole department the final indignity he was very publicly sacked. He moved away to Washington and started setting fires again. He started practicing 3 months ago but several states away. He thought the police or FBI wouldn't be able to connect them to his Washington fires.
He squirted his gel over the wife's feet and squirted his gel over the husbands groin.
"Don't worry it will only hurt like hell for a while before all your nerve endings burn away." Goaded Andrew.
He set the carpet alight as he closed the door. He couldn't stay for this fire he would have to watch it on the news. He walked out the house after setting in alight.
He walked a few blocks and got into his fire red VW golf and drove away a very happy man.

Two fire company's arrived at the scene of the fire. Four fire fighters entered to conduct a search. Fully trained firefighters noticed the signs of a possible flash over and took cover as they broke the door down. Flames flashed out the door as oxygen rushed in to fuel the fire. Unhurt the four fire fighters entered the building to search for survivors.
They discovered the two bodies in the master bedroom badly burnt.
40 minutes later Morgan stood at the side of SA Emily Thorn rubbing her back whilst she was dry retching after seeing the badly burnt bodies of the house owners.
"I'm sorry sweetheart I didn't mean to embarrass you. It's just the smell." The gagging Agent told her husband.
Morgan smiled as his wife stood upright "Your never going to get used to that, you just handle it better. I would say screw Strauss and kiss you but your going to have to gargle with mouth wash first." Smiled Morgan
Smirking Emily grabbed her husband and gave him a thank you kiss and walked back into the house. Stunned for a while Morgan laughed "Woman, I am so getting you back for that."
Morgan found Emily talking to the M.E in the burnt out front room.
"I was just telling your colleague, Mr & Mrs Taylor were burnt to death deliberately. I found traces of accelerant on Mr Taylor's groin and Mrs Taylor's foot. Both of them were restrained traces of rope has melted into their skin.
The M.E walked out leaving both agents deep in thought.
"Why change and burn them to death?" Morgan asked his wife
Emily paused to think " He tried injuring the fire fighters. He is obviously annoyed they saved Henry and Addison from the fire. He is letting us know he isn't finished with JJ."

JJ sat feeding her kids breakfast around the kitchen island. She watched her kids eating as if yesterday hadn't happened. They were sad after she told them Becky had died in the hospital, but like most children they were very resilient.
" are you ok! Jennifer?" Emily asked
She nodded at the brunette as she sat down with a little grunt.
"You want to go back and catch this guy, don't you?" Emily asked the sullen blonde
Emily watched her nod in confirmation, she knew she wanted to answer, but her answer would have been a little X-rated.
"Madison, Henry would you like to stay with me today while your mama goes and catches the bad guy that burnt your house down. If you want we could go and look around the fire academy and ride in a fire truck.?" Emily leaning closer she play whispers" we can put the sirens and lights on."
"I can't ask…" Emily interrupted JJ by grabbing her hands
"I am off work until my burns heal and I would love to look after the kids." Smiled Emily
"If your sure Emily? I really would like that thank you." An very thankful JJ answered
