Chapter 5
With the kids soundly asleep after their play date with Emily's parents in the pool, JJ and Emily sat making out like two horny teenagers.
"Well Captain Prentiss [kiss] are you [kiss] going to [kiss] take me [kiss] to your bed room?" Smirked JJ
JJ's phone rang putting the breaks on everything
"Jareau!" She answered abruptly
"Did I interrupt anything important Blondie? We have had a break in the case his car caught fire from what the fire chief tells us it's one of his grenades. JJ he had Elle in the trunk, she is alive but breathed in a lot of smoke. Jennifer she hasn't got long left, you need to get down here now." Morgan explained
JJ turned around after ending the call her heart breaking.
"My parents are coming to pick up Henry and Addison and I'm taking you to the hospital. Your not in the right mind to drive, sweetheart." Emily told her very new girlfriend
Elizabeth and Robert arrived and picked the children up with her security escort. They promised they would keep the kids as long as Jennifer needed them to.

walking arm in arm toward The team JJ needing all the support she could get from Emily.
"JJ, Captain Prentiss," Rossi greeted the couple
"Emily please." She smiled
Hotch walked over dressed in his hospital gown.
"JJ she has asked for you via her iPad. She has a tube down her throat helping her breath. The super heated smoke has damaged her lungs badly. They are not providing enough oxygen to her heart, she doesn't have long. You need to go in now." He gently told her
Emily watched JJ walk into Elle's room hesitantly dressed in her paper gown over her emerald green dress. Emily turned around to speak to Jennifer's team only to find them obviously looking at her bandages
"I am sorry Emily we didn't mean to make you feel uncomfortable. I didn't realise how extensive your burns were." Rossi apologised.
EJ
JJ walked into her friends hospital room, her friend clinging onto life. Taking a deep steadying breath she walked up to her bedside and smiled
"Hi, Elle. I am so sorry he did this to you….." JJ was interrupted by Elle banging her hand on her iPad.
She very deliberately and slowly typed on her iPad, It was obvious she was using her last few minutes to help her friend catch the UnSub responsible. Her mind fuzzy from the drugs and reduced oxygenated blood.

She expended so much typing on the iPad she closed her eyes and drifted off into an exhausted sleep. JJ took her friends hand as she watched her oxygen saturation drop and drop until her heart monitor alarmed as her heart stopped and just now showed a straight line.
"I'm so sorry." A tearful friend told Elle as the doctors just silence the alarming machines.
Picking up the iPad she walked out the room.

Walking straight into the open arms of Emily for comfort. JJ handed the iPad over to Hotch as she collected herself
"Sh, Shh sweetheart." Emily gently told JJ rubbed her arms.
Emily kissed the top of JJ's head "Are you feeling better Jennifer?" She asked the silent blonde
JJ nodded whilst still in Emily's embrace and stepped backwards out of her arms just enough enabling her to kiss Emily.
"Thank you. I'm fine, let's get back to work." JJ pushed her emotions to the side so she could catch this bastard
JJ walked over to the team, Emily stood still until pulled across by JJ.
"It's gibberish mainly. White height me - could mean he was the same height as Elle. But the rest I just don't know." Reid answer without removing his eyes from the iPads screen
"Excuse me! Might I take a look?" Emily tentatively asked
Reid passed the iPad across for Emily to look at the screen
Taking the iPad she studied it for a while.
"This first line could be FDNY and the last line could mean his badge. He was a member of ladder company 277." Emily suggested
Hotch thanked Emily and asked Garcia to do her deep dive on the FDNY and specifically ladder company 277. The team instantly switched into full FBI mode as observed by Emily, she started feeling a little useless
"Would anyone like a coffee from across the street?" She asked
"Oh god Emily that would be superb." Smiled JJ kissing her deeply as a thank you
Emily took everyone's order and walked off to the coffee shop feeling useful.

The team decided to wait for Elle's brother to arrive, they took over a meeting room and started to bounce ideas around until Garcia phoned
"Your on speaker Baby Girl." Answered Morgan
"I think I have your man. Mr Andrew Clark. He was dismissed from Ladder company 277 of the FDNY. He repeatedly fell below their acceptable standards. Eventually they fired him after he endangered three of his colleagues. He moved to Washington to stay with his sister. He applied for the DCFD, they obviously refused his application. I have sent you his sisters address. Be careful my little butterflies." Garcia told the group.
"Morgan, Emily, Rossi, Reid and Myself will go to the address. JJ you go back to,Quantico with Emily. Where is Emily?" Hotch questioned
"She went for coffee….how long ago did she go?" JJ asked
Emily looked thoughtful "just as we started working, about 40 minutes ago." Replied a worried Agent.
Hotch called Garcia "Garcia, Please trace Captain Prentiss cell phone."
Garcia could be heard typing rapidly "it must be turned off, I can't turn it back on the battery must be removed. I'm sorry JJ" Garcia told the team.

Emily had walked out the Hospital and started to cross the street when her cell phone rang
"Hello….." she was interrupted instantly
"If you want fire fighter Pitchman to live follow my instructions. Do you understand?" The voice told her
"Yes! What do you want me to do? Don't hurt him his wife is pregnant with twins. I'll do what ever you want just let him go." Pleaded Emily
"You both ruined my master plan. Those children should of died that night to make her pay!" He yelled down the phone
If Emily had been a profiler or a seasoned media liaison for the BAU she wouldn't have made this basic mistake.
"You leave Jennifer, Henry and Addison alone!" Yelled Emily
"Jennifer, Mmmh you sound a little more than someone helping the FBI. Well?" He yelled down the phone.
Emily knew she had made a mistake,
"Arghhh, pleas tell him Captain." Screamed Peter Pitchman "he's stabbed me in my leg, Please tell him Emily."
"If I answer, I want to exchange him for me. Don't hurt him any more." Emily begged her fire woman's helmet firmly in place.
"Blue Ford van across the street."
Emily looked across to see Peter Pitchman with a gun to his head.
Emily had worked with Peter Pitchman since he was a probationary fire fighter straight out of the academy. She had been responsible for his safety for years now and she will be dammed if she will allow this expectant father to be hurt.
Emily walked across the street and approached the van. The side door opened and Emily stepped in.
"Lay face down hands behind your back." He instructed
He secured her hands behind her back and tied her legs up securing them to her wrists in a hog tie.
"Jennifer is my new girlfriend. Now please let Peter go. Peter please tell Jenifer I love her." Emily told him the truth to get her firefighter released.
"Go!" He shouted as he sat in the driver's seat.
Peter managed to get out before the van pulled away.

JJ and the team had been summoned down to the ER.
"Hi, I'm SSA Jareau, you have a patient that wants to speak to me?" The receptionist indicates a doctor.
"Follow me please, agents." The doctor asked
The doctor took them to Peter Pitchman's room, JJ instantly recognised him as the fire fighter whom had saved Henry.
"Agent Jareau? I was grabbed from behind and shoved in a van on the way to the store.I woke up tied up in the back. The man that attacked me told me I was going to pay for saving your son. He somehow knew Captain Prentiss was here, we waited until he watched her leave. He called her from my cell phone. He threatened to kill me, she gave herself up so he would let me go." He paused in pain "She let it slip that your her Girlfriend. She asked me to tell you she loves you." He tells JJ.
